The big surprise of the day is Phil Hellmuth forgetting which day he was supposed to play, leaving Mike Matusow to contact Hellmuth's hotel to go inside his room and wake him up even though he had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on his door. Hellmuth originally had 11,800 chips at the start of day 2A, and by the time he made it to the event he was left with 6,800. Hellmuth then grinded that 6,800 to an incredible 64,900 to end the day.

I just put some names up in the OP that I saw right away to get the ball rolling.
I know there's at least 4 people from LP playing in the ME, I just don't know what day or some of their real names. |

They're taking forever to update any chip counts from today's event so far, but I did find this in the Updates tab from 3 hours ago:
Mackey Crippled By Brutal River Card
When the magical words of, "All in" and "call" are heard ringing throughout the Main Event, everyone flocks to that table, including us!
We came in with board reading and James Mackey had another player at his table all in. Mackey had and his opponent had Mackey seemed primed for an early double, but the river was not so kind as the dealer peeled off the to give the other player a better two pair.
Mackey nearly fell out of his chair as he grabbed his head and showed his frustration. Luckily for Mackey, he still has some chips left but will need to pick his spots well if he wants to get out of this ealry hole he has fallen into.
James "Mig" Mackey - 4,000 |

The Numbers Are In
The WSOP tournament staff just announced the official numbers for the 2011 World Series of Poker. A total of 6,865 players registered for this event, making it the third largest Main Event in WSOP history. A prize pool of $64,531,000 million was created, that will be distributed among the top 693 finishers.
First place . . . $8,711,956. Not too shabby considering some skeptics thought the number at this year's Main Event wouldn't surpass 5,000. We'll be entering the numbers in our system soon, so be sure to check out the "Payouts" tab in a bit. |

Hellmuth's Confusion Costs Him. (he thought he played on the wrong day)
+ Show Spoiler +
Although Phil Hellmuth is known for making late entrances here at the WSOP, we imagined he'd show up right on time to try to grind up his small stack of 11,800. As the first level of play today was ticking down Hellmuth's seat remained surprisingly vacant. We did a little investigating on Twitter and found these posts by Mike Matusow:
"@phil_hellmuth is such a idiot hes getting blinded off has 5k left has his phoneoff and a do not disturb on his phone at hotel" and "sorry @phil_hellmuth that your wsop comes to a end this way i even got them to ring inside your room with a do not disturb on it" (post edited for spelling)
Hellmuth then tweeted not long later, "Security broke into my room, I'm like, 'What's going on?!?' SGuard says, 'You're playing in the World Series of Poker today.'" followed by "I jump out of bed, dress, and run down to my car. Didn't know you could drive 75 on side roads!! I Thought I played Day 2 Tuesday..."
Matusow somehow was able to convince the security guards at Hellmuth's hotel to break into his room to save him from completely blinding out of the tournament. Hellmuth arrived right as the first level of play was ending and his stack, which has been blinding down for the past two hours is already down to 7,675. He'll obviously have a lot of work to do if he wants to make it to Day 3.
Raszi is at 79,000 chips.

Lex Out-Huis
On a Ac/4s/9d flop, we watched a heads-up pot that would end up being the last of Lex Veldhuis' day. The big blind checked to the Dutchman, and he fired 2,500 into a pot of about 5,400. The big blind called, and they'd both check-check through the Qs turn. On the river, the 2d drew one last check from the big blind, and Veldhuis took his cue to bet 6,000. He didn't like seeing a check-raise all in behind him, but he called off his last 22,000 total to put himself at risk.
We'd never get to see his cards. The big blind tabled for top two, and Veldhuis mucked and ducked out of the room. |

LP.net players who advanced past day 2A
FrinkX - Evan McNiff - 179,800 (started the day with 21,400)
Kiwikaki - Jonathan Garneau - 143,000 (started the day with 94,100)
PoorUser - Stephen Costello - 140,300 (started the day with 28,100)

LP.net players who busted on day 2A
Raszi - Lex Veldhuis - busted
nolan - Sean Nolan - busted
rS.Wisdom[9] - Bryan Kerr - busted
Jamie217 - Jamie Breedon - busted
----------
The big surprise of the day is Phil Hellmuth forgetting which day he was supposed to play, leaving Mike Matusow to contact Hellmuth's hotel to go inside his room and wake him up even though he had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on his door. Hellmuth originally had 11,800 chips at the start of day 2A, and by the time he made it to the event he was left with 6,800. Hellmuth then grinded that 6,800 to an incredible 64,900 to end the day. |

Cole Deck
Corwin Cole got his last 15,000 or so in preflop, and Kevin Okeefe re-shoved behind him. The action folded around, and the hands were opened.
Cole: JJ
Okeefe: KK
Okeefe held, and Cole was eliminated from the tournament.

Patrick Stemper isn't in the day 3 list, which means he busted.
As for into2ndwind, does he still post here? I don't remember seeing his name around anytime in 2011.
I can add his name to the list, but if he used to post here at one time but doesn't anymore, its not really worth adding him since he isn't relevant.

Kiwikaki is one of the best SC2 players in the world right now, former top WC3 player, played low-mid stakes poker for a few years and now plays SC2, top 2 Canadian SC2 player, top 5 north american player. Not sure how much Poker he's played in the past 18 months but hey, he seems to be doing okay for now. |

True.
Certain names I'm more familiar with since they're Starcraft 1&2 related, so my brain automatically thinks they post more since I still see their name often in the poker/Starcraft scene.
I just didn't remember seeing "into2ndwind" post before, and since he hasn't posted for over a year, I assumed he's not really an active member LP member anymore.
Anyway, into2ndwind was already added to the list of players last night before I went to bed, so its all good.

9 Minutes ago update from WSOP
Action folded around to the player on the button who counted out a raise of 9,000. The player in the small blind quickly called and it was on Vanessa Rousso in the big blind. Rousso calmly counted out a stack of chips and pushed them out into the middle.
Rousso's three-bet made the action 28,000 total and action was back around to the original raiser on the button. The button player had a look of severe frustration on his face. "I guess it's up to you," he said to the small blind as he mucked his hand. The player in the small blind folded as well and Rousso took the pot down, so far having a good showing here on Day 4.
So she is still in it. |

| We caught up with the action on in a raised four-way pot.
The flop read {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Vanessa Rousso led out for 22,000. She found one caller from the player in the hi-jack position.
Rousso then check-called a 32,000 bet from her opponent when the {A-Clubs} fell on the turn.
When the {5-Diamonds} completed the board, Rousso led out for 40,000. Her opponent deliberated for a but and then slid out a raise to 110,000 total. Rousso quickly called.
"You're good," her opponent said. Rousso flipped over {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and her opponent mucked.
Rousso is up to 950,000.

| Cheong's Quads Knockout Reza Kashani as Bubble Boy
Posted 4 hours 48 minutes ago by Paul_Oresteen • Level 16: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante
Reza Kashani is the 2011 WSOP "Money Bubble Boy".
Reza Kashani is the 2011 WSOP "Money Bubble Boy".
Joseph Cheong and Reza Kashani went to a flop of {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs} with 25,000 already in the pot. Kashani moved all in and Cheong insta-called and tabled {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} for flopped middle set.
Kashani was drawing live though holding {K-Spades} {J-Spades} and needed Broadway cards to straighten out. The turn fell {8-Hearts} which changed nothing
The river fell {Q-Hearts} putting an exclamation point on Kahsani's elimination. Cheong's quad queens upped his stack to 315,000 and is at least $19,359 richer.

McNiff's Magnificent Finish
In the final hand of the night over on table 352, the action folded to Evan McNiff who raised all-in for 150,000 from the hijack position. The cutoff, button and small blind folded, but then Holley called from the big blind blind and the cards were tabled:
McNiff: 10/10
Holley: 7/7
BOOOOOOOM! The flop of 10/10/K wiped out any and all chances of Holley taking McNiff out, and after the dealer completed the board with the turn of the and the river , McNiff sunk into his chair, more in relief than excitement.
McNiff will bag up 317,000 for the night, while Holley takes 931,000 into tomorrow's Day 5. |

Yeah.. I think it's a little overkill. He's on TV because the WSOP is livecasting for the first time and they chose his table as the featured table and he is going to respond by shitting over the WSOP and their rules for 3 hours. Please Daniel, tell us more about how retarded the event is that we're watching. |

McNiff Cuts Down King
Evan McNiff opened for 27,000 from the cutoff, then Carter King reraised all in from the button. It folded back to McNiff who snap-called, showing Aa/Ah. Bad timing for King, who had Js/10d.
The flop came 2s/Ks/3h, leaving King looking for running cards to survive. But the turn was the 8h, making the river 3s no matter, and King hit the rail.
McNiff was back in action on the next hand, five-betting Elder out of a hand preflop to pick up still more chips. He up to 1.932 million now.

Ruthenberg Makes the Right Call
Even McNiff opened for 42,000 from the button, and Sebastian Ruthenberg called from the big blind. The flop came Js/9d/9s. Rutheberg led with a bet of 50,000, and McNiff called. The turn was the 2h and Ruthenberg bet again, this time 86,000. McNiff called once more.
The river brought the Kh and a check from Ruthenberg. McNiff paused, then pushed out a bet of 192,000. Ruthenberg went deep into the tank, thinking for at least a couple of minutes.
Finally he set out a stack of calling chips, and tabled his 5s/5c. He'd made the correct decision, as McNiff mucked.
Ruthenberg sits with 2.869 million now, while McNiff slips to 1.197 million. |

He's really good, but having him commenting is terrible for the poker world, it was like a an educational video when he was assessing the play in ranges w/o hole cards and criticizing bad play and telling everyone what range of hands it's good to do what with |

imo really shortsighted, there are plenty of tools/information for people who want to get better @ poker to actually get better but Nazgul said in his interview
"I got no clue but I'm sure these numbers can be found anywhere on the net. I think it's somewhere between 5-10%?
Why.. for the same reason not everyone can be a winner at the stock exchange. Some don't try, others aren't capable."
and i agree with it. |

| Due to the configuration of the ESPN camera set-up around the secondary feature table, the PokerNews Live Reporting Team have been extremely hard-pressed to report on the action. However, we have just managed to pick up one hand for you.
From the UTG +1 position, Hilton Laborda raised to 56,000 before the flop and the action folded around to Evan McNiff who called from the hijack position, making it heads-up to the flop of , which both players checked before Laborda led out for 142,000 on the turn of the .
McNiff called, then after about three minutes of deliberation, Laborda finally decded to check the river . McNiff fired out 200,000 and again, Laborda tanked for almost another two-and-a-half minutes before laying his hand down.
As McNiff raked in the chips, the rest of the table started berating Laborda. "What are you doing there?" Jean-Robert Bellande exclaimed. "That hand was over six minutes long - I can't believe you took so long to make a decision on a 200,000 bet into a 900K pot!"
A very nervous-looking Laborda said nothing, but draped his Brazilian flag around his shoulders even tighter. Still, he's worked hard to bring his stack up to 3.1 million and we're almost certain that as well as his flag, the weight of his home country is well and truly on his shoulders.
Hilton Laborda 3,100,000 +1,284,000
Evan McNiff 1,025,000 -294,000 |

| Tournament staff is currently coloring up the yellow 1,000 denomination chips before sending the remaining 90 players on a two-hour dinner break. When they return from dinner, they will play two more two-hour levels.
Early on in this level we saw the exit of 2010 Main Event 3rd Place finisher Joseph Cheong to our current chip leader Phil Collins. Cheong got it all in with preflop against the of Collins and failed to improve. After sending Cheong home, Collins went on a tear over at the featured table, eliminating players and allowing his stack to grow over the 10,000,000 chip mark. He's currently sitting with 9,075,000.
While players like Phil Collins and Ben Lamb continue to climb, this level also marked the end of some notable players' Main Event runs. Among those sent home this level include Eli Elezra, Ray Henson, Chamath Palihapitiya, and Sorel Mizzi.
That being said, other notables were able to score double up's to keep themselves alive. Erick "E-Dog" Lindgren was able to get all of his chips in the middle preflop with against Jerry Van Strydonck's . His aces held and officially extended his life in the Main Event. Allen Cunningham was also able to score a much needed double up when his held up against Khoa Nguyen's .
Everyone left in the field is guaranteed a prize of $76,146 at this point and will return in two hours to do battle on the felt for even more! See you in two hours!

Hewitt was visible burned from all the ME grind... it was obvious that it got to him... He builds a 22M to start the N9 bubble and folds for 2 levels (4 hours, lvls 150k/300k and 200/400k) 100% of hands (no kidding, he folded 100% of hands). He blinded out from 22M to 13M. Everybody has noticed that he is an empty seat at this point and when he raised is like if he had forgot what image he had at the table, nobody was ever going to ship 88-TT in the N9 bubble over his first raise in 5 hours of play WTF, I don't think he is that that bad, cause many of my friends have said that he is good, but he definitely lacked the focus needed in such important situation... |

I didnt catch the beginning of the hand, just saw showdown, thought it was raise, reraise allin and call.
Yeah looks to me like open shoving folds out all hands you beat and gets only calls by better hands. He might fold out some hands that have him beat? (AJ/AQ/JJ) Just because he folded like really every hand. That cant be the plan though. I dont like this play, then again im only playing small stakes SNG/MTT |

Checked pokernews for the hand history and looks like I'm retarded and read it wrong, it wasn't 3 bet call, but it was shove from UTG by Hewitt, and call.
We had seen VERY few flops to that point, people were playing pretty damn tight there.
He has ATo and calls 35% of his stack with ATo, the range at which Hewitt open shoves UTG needs to be pretty solid, even with 'just' 20-25bb at that point. |

Matt Giannetti open-shoved his last 5.5 million from under the gun, and the action folded all the way to John Hewitt in the big blind. Upon sweating his cards, he ripped his hood off of his head, and went into the tank. He painstakingly called, and was in bad shape.
--------------
So JJ shoved and ATo called from the SB. |

Matt Giannetti open-shoved his last 5.5 million from under the gun, and the action folded all the way to John Hewitt in the big blind. Upon sweating his cards, he ripped his hood off of his head, and went into the tank. He painstakingly called, and was in bad shape.

So JJ shoved and ATo called from the SB. |
Hewitt was the BB, blinds were 250/500k,Giannetti shoved for 5.5k exactly and Hewitt needed 5M to call. |

God, yeah I saw that where he slammed them down I was like lol what in gods name is he doing.
And I ran it on pokerstove against a range (and its a pretty generous range in my opinion) of ATs+, 4+, KJs+, AJo+, and even KQo and he gets like 37%. |
