| | Player balances have to be kept in separate segregated trust accounts under IOM law (matching UK law in this respect) (Online Gambling Participant Regs 2010).
PS are based in IOM and spend a fortune on top UK City of London law firms who advise on their regulation. They are by far the biggest gaming company in IOM and I would be astonished if the IOM Gaming Commission had let them flout this. Nor do I think the legal and accountancy firms who advise them would have had anything to do with what would be stealing player funds (they would be committing offences under the UK money laundering regs in assisting Stars do this in any way and the firms would have to report it or their partners would go to jail).
Remember we would be talking about offences in Stars home jurisdiction where all their assets are held and the individuals involved live.
They have clearly rolled the dice and decided to try to keep their assets and themselves out of the way of the US jurisdiction
I expect they will have put the player funds (as well as their own) into banks that do as little business in the US as they can find.
But I would be astonished if they have not kept all the player money separate. |

Likely a dumb question, but is Merge for US players affected by this? |

I for one had no idea they were doing so many shady things to allow us poker players to deposit. Pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. |

5-6 days ago deposited 900ish in 2 increments into pokerstars to send them to my bank account due to laziness of filling the neteller requirements for bank withdrawal.
Yesterday when I understood about this I cashed out back to neteller around that time (00:00 KST) the whole amount and they got back there almost instantly. |

Me neither. Nor anyone else for that matter. I think most of were all under the assumption that everything was being ran in a legal way because .. you know, it would be stupid not to when you consider how hypersensitive online poker thing is with US government. Any other approach would be stupid if you consider the risk/reward, wouldn't it? I mean you are fucking with the government, let alone a world police government such as that of US.
I'm still unsure how this even all worked. It's taking deposits from US players through illegal means, aright. I was under the assumption that US players can play in these poker sites no problem? Is it that they aren't allowed to deposit but they can play? I am still so confused of like what the fuck just happened. |

I actually got a phone call right now from Pokerstars' Steve from 2+2, he said there's a reason I placed trust in Pokerstars and that our account balances are safe. He didn't give a time frame for when we actually could cash out, as shit went down pretty fast. He also said that Pokerstars probably won't offer real money play anytime soon in the US and relocation is probably necessary if I'd want to continue to play. |

Cash outs for amount same or lower then your total deposits are always instant for neteller/moneybookers. For example if u deposited 500$, run it up to 1300$ and tried to cash it out, you would get the 500$ instantly and the rest ( 800$ ) would have to await for cashout approval.

UB/AP is still offering cash games to US residents. I requested a withdrawal yesterday, still awaiting approval.
Is Liquid Poker still paying out rakeback?? |

Well I play on ftp , there are no us players anymore , but the tables looks the same.
There are way less tables , so it's difficult to table select ...
I've won 10 bi in 1500 hands though , but I ran like jesus |

I was hoping there would be more news coverage about this but it seems nobody cares. The population that is hurt by this (winning poker players) is very very small.
In other news: Obama is trying to increase oversight of the internet by the department of homeland security
