let me provide a poker example which should hit closer to home for most of you guys who are low stakes grinders:
imagine you are a .5/1 NL player with no other source of income. you have 2k in expenses a month and on average make 3k/month at .5/1. if you were to move up to 1/2 you would make 5k/month, and if you were to move down to .25/.5 you would make 1800/month. in order to play .5/1 you must have at least 5k online and you cant move up to 1/2 safely without 10k online.
today is november 1st, you paid off your november bills and have 2k in your bank account and 7k in your poker account. you hope that you can make 5k this month so you can cash out 2k, keeping yourself safe for december and giving yourself a chance to move up to 1/2 to have higher earnings. unfortunately you go on a downswing in november and lose 2k.
now its december 1, your bank account is empty, you have 5k online and a choice to make. do you cash out 2k and gamble with a roll unfit for playing .5/1? do you play .5/1 and skimp on expenses for a few days to try to make something happen early in the month? do you cash out 2k and move down in stakes? say you decide to be responsible and cash out 2k and move down in stakes. now you have 3k online, 2k in your bank account and can only play .25/.5. you now expect to make less each month than your expenses and unless something changes you will go broke in about a year.
getting out of a poverty rut is REALLY hard. a child is born into a family in a low income, high crime area, with parents who did not finish high school and barely have enough money to put food on the table and live month to month on expenses, but his parents really want him to have a better life. so many things have to go right from that point on. his parents need to grind for the first 18 years of his life just to get him through high school, he needs to either do really well in school or be a ridiculous athlete to get a scholarship to college: if he just gets in and opts for student loans he will be in debt and likely broke til hes well past 30. all the while surrounded by crime, poor school systems, and friends who dont have parents that push for success as hard as his do. its a really hard road out of the bottom. and supposing he makes it all the way to college graduate, he still needs to find a job that pays more than his expenses and gives him room for growth. and if he gets there with student loans that his parents cant pay off....he may find himself in the same cycle they were in. this kind of rut can take generations of grind to get out of.
things have improved dramatically for blacks in the last 50 years. and today racism is a fragment of what it was. 100+ years of race suppression makes it very hard for future generations to succeed. and racism DOES still exist. whites still do have societal advantages over blacks and hispanics. they arent what they once were, but providing counter examples where a white person was fucked over in some way doesnt disprove the class and race privilege.

And people who create the law get to decide on what is a crime and what isn't. Many of these laws are unfair to black people, such as historical ones like the lawful implementation of slavery.
And yeah, it's probably true that black people commit more rapes. Im sure if you go to any part of the world, the people who are being oppressed at the bottom of the social economic status cannot deal with their problems politically, because no one from the higher middle/upper classes is helping them. So they deal with their problems by fighting each other, abusing their children and drinking. Or even occasionally engaging in terrorism. Well, that's a fault of universities and the media for not trying to help these oppressed people understand how the upper classes are robbing them with property laws, ect.

- anyone who spends 10 hours walking through NYC in general is likely to come across some creeps and mentally ill people. 10 hours is a very long time.
- that they had her walk mostly through Harlem without making that clear to people who may not be familiar with NYC didn't sit well with me.
- most socially aware people understand when they are being creepy and that catcalling is not ok. 90% of people who catcall also realize that it's not socially acceptable, they just don't give a shit and putting out videos like this isn't going to make them give a shit.
