So let me get this straight.
1. Some payment processors don't want to be involved with Pokerstars/FTP/UB/AP due to ambiguous laws on the nature of poker.
2. These giant poker companies circumvent this by creating thousands of fake companies in order to process payments for non-existent goods that are never delivered. (Probably avoiding taxes at the same time.)
3. Bank accounts get shut down so the websites decide to bribe banks.
4. Feds find out are pissed, and seize all bank accounts.
5. People whine that America is corrupt.
6. ???
Umm, seriously this would be so much easier if gambling was just legalized TT.

I doubt anyone internationally will lose their money, usa govt can't just take money from them when they were doing something legal. This would set off a firestorm of diplomacy. However, the usa govt now controls the bank accounts with player deposits in them, and will probably freeze them for awhile. International players will get their money back, but it may take awhile for this all to unravel. The real question is if, and when usa players may see their rolls. |

So, I read that pokerstars was taking payments from U.S. citizens. Is this actually the case? If so, how? And from who? I don't understand. |

^ they were taking deposits from US players, and the US players would be getting confused, getting e-mail replies from fake company names such as "PS3shop" or "mygolflocation.com", which were set up as fronts for Pokerstars, etc

from the DOJ press release
| |
For example, defendants ISAI SCHEINBERG and PAUL TATE of
PokerStars, RAYMOND BITAR and NELSON BURTNICK of Full Tilt Poker,
and SCOTT TOM and BRENT BECKLEY of Absolute Poker, arranged for
the money received from U.S. gamblers to be disguised as payments
to hundreds of non-existent online merchants purporting to sell
merchandise such as jewelry and golf balls. Of the billions of
dollars in payment transactions that the Poker Companies tricked
U.S. banks into processing, approximately one-third or more of
the funds went directly to the Poker Companies as revenue through
the "rake" |
how???
I thought U.S. citizens couldn't deposit on pokerstars. So who and how? |

but I thought there wasn't even an option to deposit... ?
