Two and a half men and Big Bang are two of the lamest US "comedies" to ever be produced. Also I've found that anyone who likes one likes the other, it's a universal constant.
I also loved Breaking Bad, watched all 3 seasons in like a week only a little while ago.
Almost finished re-watching Father Ted and then I'll re-watch Deadwood since I was reminded of it by PS Big Game.

I love that kind of humor. Modern Family is a lot smarter and more quick-witted than all of the other comedies on TV right now. They don't explain the joke or give you ample time to get it. It's good shit.
Just watched 1st episode of Rubicon, it was really good, nice script and soundtrack, it's about a global conspiration or something like that, the serie got cancelled but the season 1 is complete.

A really good new comedy is "Louie"
It's basically a knockoff of Curb Your Enthusiasm starring Louis CK based on a fictionalized version of himself. The main difference is that in Curb Larry David plays a generally happy guy that says whatever is on his mind. Louie is a divorced dad with 2 girls and is a overweight, miserable, depressed, non-confrontational guy.
He's also one of the funniest stand up comedians if you've never heard his material

Just finished the first season of Treme. It's very different but as good as the Wire imo. I do wish they could show a little bit of NOLA rap too besides the jazz.

recently watched californication season 4. fantastic show. some parts of it are really stupid but great characters/dialogue and the high points are legendary. a fair amount of casting seems to be done purely on phenomenal breasts as well. all seasons are great.

Im currently watching American Restoration, its about the guy who had the cameo appearances in Pawn Stars to restore some of their stuff. Follows his restoration business/team.
The filler is a little bullshit, but its fairly unobtrusive and doesnt take up too much of the show. Its really cool watching them restore stuff to its former glory and its not as depressing as Pawn Stars because the person is usually restoring something important to them for their personal enjoyment rather than flogging a family heirloom so they can go play slots at Binion's.
I think some episodes are up on youtube, ive been getting them from pirate bay though.

UK feels kinda trolly in a jokes on them watch lord alan berate a bunch of delusional, incompetent fish kinda way. that's one of the things i like a lot about the US show. they usually have some retardos for the lulz and drama at the beginning but a lot of them are actually pretty exceptional and it gets really interesting at the end. lord alan is definitely the man though.

Im not sure, the thing is the main story is sort of in the back and every episode is mostly on its own, so they could have stretched it out for longer I guess but I dont know really. Anyway it might be for the best since almost every good show starts losing steam around season 2-3, maybe the Brits know better.

they complete a well rounded story arc and end the series when its good, unlike in america, where they find a good show and then drive it into the ground by progressively worse seasons until all you remember from a once great show is how fucking god awful it became.
UK and US versions of The Office are a perfect example of these differences.

I actually really enjoyed Newsroom season 1. Waiting for season 2 to finish so I can marathon it :D.
Only nitpick about Newsroom is the writing and dialogue is too contrived. Everybody on that show has amazing wit and sharp retorts that it's just unrealistic sometimes.

Seems like a lot of the new shows, Sherlock, Suits, House of Cards etc.. are all following the House MD formula, but since we are all eating it up (myself included) they will probably continue releasing new shows like this. I wonder how long before we get sick of it, or is it in our nature to be drawn to characters like this?
I think that's why GOT stands out as a pure GOAT show, since despite the fantasy setting, the characters and their experiences are far more realistic and natural

i dont like frank underwood as much after he killed peter russo in house of cards. i preferred him as being "harmless" with lots of tricks under his sleeve. i wish they made him appear capable of killing but refrains from doing it. or at least wait for season 3 before he takes someone's life.

IMO, season 1 of Newsroom was amazing; haven't seen season two yet, but I think it's finished so I'm going to start watching now that BB is finished. There's some things about the show I don't like but as far as entertainment goes, it hits the spot.

Just finished watching Deathnote. Very awesome series and concept. Some parts are a little over exaggerated but I guess it's to be expected being a Japanese show. L is probably one of the most unique / intelligent characters I've seen on a show. I R impressed. Recommend! ~12h watch

Yes, DeathNote is very clever and bright. I'm at episode 23 or something. Some spots in the show i dislike a little but mostly very good.

I could never get into star trek, the acting and dialog are just too weak for the most part, BSG was bad too imho but for different reasons. You should give Farscape a try if you havent seen it, by far the best show of this kind.

Tested out a few episodes of that Agents of SHIELD, but it kinda felt a bit, gimmicky, following some hollywood recipie, with cheesy lines, boring fight scenes. Kinda thing where they talk unencumbered during a fight scene,or keep shooting out witty comments when they are almost getting killed kinda stuff. And I don't think you get to see any of the marvel superheroes, except for bits from movie's they've been in. Just watched the 2 first episodes, so don't know if it picks up, but felt a little flat. I'd give it a 5,8 / 10

Archer!! Absolutely hilarious show. It took me a few episodes to get into, but once I did, I was hooked like crazy. Just finished watching the whole show (5 seasons total) the second time through... in about 2 weeks. Also, first four seasons are on netflix, which is pretty frigging convenient.
the sopranos are an older show, but considering the lack of decent tv currently, i think it's a good recommendation

i think COMMUNITY is one of the best shows i'll ever watch. it's one of the most creative comedies to ever be played on tv.
i watched Orange is the New black season 1,and for whatever reason was always annoyed by it. it had good content good plot, but something about it pissed me off the same way weedz pissed me off.
in my humble opinion, they keep trying too hard to make a feminine, feminist slut character. which is fine. girls can enjoy sex as much as guys can. but im so fucking tired of genji kohen.
i think masters of sex is pretty a better drama. although it's hard for me to watch drama's lately.

Theres a reason its one of the best shows in TV history, character development is incredible. I didn't think the first few episodes were anything special either, by the end of the season I felt like a drug addict who lost his drug money during a drunken stuper

Agree with this although I thought Ep 4 still had some redeeming stuff and was better than 2, 3. The plane premise / possible disease outbreak set up is what got me interested (could care less about vampire shit really). Really would enjoy it if they would just solely focus on the story at hand which is kind of a meld of an outbreak movie and a vampire one. Not sure I could've taken more child custody hearings taking precedence after people's bodies were found with their head smashed to the ground following a mysterious plane landing. Nora, the woman partner...her motivations at the end of ep 4...also pretty horrible writing. But I'm interested enough to see the season play out fully I think
