Amazing performance by the Ducks! They would've won 6-0 if a puck didn't deflect off of a Duck's players skate and in front of the net for a Flames player to easily score. That cost me 3 points, which is a lot.

I didn't get as high as I wanted to, but it's all good. The 3 guys on both teams who ended up scoring the least were guys who aren't on the Ducks team, but I'd still pick them again, so I'll chalk it up to them having a bad day... ...I guess.

Team 1 = rank #357
Team 2 = rank #246

I won almost 3x my buy-in, so that's a good start to the 2nd round of the playoffs. QUACK QUACK~

good shit.

I'm really thinking of switching to gpp's only. I seem to do better at them( Although I haven't shipped one yet) And less skill needed needed, more fish etc etc. Besides I've always been a tourney donk haha.

You should get into UFC on DraftKings. Less teams and players to worry about, and you'll spend less time waiting for the results.

The next UFC card on May 9th will have a lot of close fights, and I could easily see 3 underdogs win. A lot of the fights are actually close on DraftKings, which is kind of rare, as you usually have a large favorite in terms of points in 70-80% of the fights.

My NHL team for Day 2 of the 2nd Round of the playoffs:

C David Desharnais
C Mikael Granlund
W Nikita Kucherov
W Zach Parise
W Jason Pominville
D Marco Scandella
D Jared Spurgeon
G Devan Dubnyk
UTIL N. Niederreiter

I decided to go with the underdog team today. I think that the Minnesota Wild will crush the Blackhawks a couple times in this series, and so I'll keep adding mainly Wild players in my Eastern team, while I'll stick to mainly Ducks players in my Western team. (The Ducks and the Wild don't play on the same day in Round 2 during the first 2-3 games)

----------

lmao... Well, I guess my decision to choose the Minnesota Wild was wrong, as they already gave up 3 goals in the first period. Chicago was expected to win at home, but they really stepped it up in this game when compared to every game they played in the first round of the playoffs. Oh well.

----------

Well, Minnesota ended up scoring 3 goals in the 2nd period, but Chicago scored 1 goal in the 2nd period. Nobody scored any goals in the 3rd period, which means Chicago won 4-3.

The crazy part about today is that there was this guy who had 319 entries into the NHL event I was in, which only had $10k guaranteed; $800 for 1st place, with a total of 780 people getting paid. 319 x $3 = $957. The highest place his teams got was #460, which paid out $8.

The Minnesota Wild played terrible today, or maybe the Blackhawks are just in form. Either way, I won't be making anymore teams that consist mainly of Wild players, since the chances of them coming back to win a BO7 after being down 0-2 is highly unlikely in the NHL. The Hawks will most likely win at least 1 game in Minnesota.

The Anaheim Ducks played great tonight, but the Calgary Flames' goalie was playing much better tonight and saved a ton of shots that were close to going in. I'll be rolling with the Ducks when they travel to Canada on Tuesday.

I only lost -$1 today, and I consider that a win since it looked like all three of my teams were gonna fail me at one point.

Daut,

How has your last couple of weeks gone in MLB? I recently joined FD and have seen some success.... Just curious how you're doing.

damn. i haven't played any DFS for a few days, been pretty busy and don't want to hop back into baseball until i get a better clue about the game. 50/50's still going well?

i read something about people buying a bunch of the same lineups (or getting them free from twitter) that aren't necessarily optimal, but better than what a fish casual-fan would make and good enough to make it tougher to beat the rake. i'm sure there's still edge to be had, but have you noticed this at all?

Being the baseball fan/lifer that I am, I see these players they post they think will do good (usually 2-4 at each position) along with their reasoning (usually 5-10 words incorporating stats) and I don't always like them. I use them as a guide but kind of have my own system for selecting a winning lineup. So far it has worked out, as I've profited 5.1% of my initial deposit onto the site. I've played 52 matches so far.

Obviously, I'd like that number to increase but patience is key. I've been experimenting with how to best pick a lineup. I feel my knowledge of the game and unique ability to look at certain stats help.

Really only interested in the MLB DFS. I tried the NBA freeroll. I'm just not that interested. Could definitely see myself trying the NFL as well once September rolls around.

i'm kinda the opposite wrt NBA/MLB, really enjoy basketball, so i'm kinda bummed basketball is basically over (even though i've still been playing a fair amount of these 2-game slates). i was a total fish when i started, it appears to be turning around but sample size is too small so who knows, could still be a fish.

but with basketball, and i think Daut mentioned this before, it was pretty easy to see where i was making mistakes and missing 'must-play' situations, whereas in baseball i just had no clue if my picks were shit or it was just variance, so i lost interest and stopped playing it pretty fast. i couldn't name 15 current professional baseball players from memory, so i was basically just looking at 'advanced stats' and trying to figure out which numbers mattered. that said, the idea of DFS is pretty fun to me so i might give baseball another shot because it's a long time until football T_T i would be interested to see the standard deviation of a solid long-term MLB winner.

speaking of that, i was pretty tilted last night because i finished my lineups late ( like 1 min before cutoff) and my games didn't fill so entries were cancelled i didn't actually check to see what i would've scored, but have to think i would've done decently given Wall's late-ish scratch (figure at least some dead money from that, and making Sessions a must-play) and fading Curry.

--

tonight i'm torn on NBA; Kyrie's price is up a little high for my liking, Rose has performed demonstrably worse when given only 1 night of rest, but am i really going to take Terry and Prigioni at PG? :S (Rivers listed as SG on Fanduel)

think i'm going to mostly stick with the Rocks/Clips, maaayybe try LBJ but i dunno yet. i think Thompson/Mozgov/Shumpert all worth consideration but dunno if i'll play any of them yet. Griffin/Rivers seem like easy plays, going with Dwight again at Center. Barnes was a rockstar and saved my lineup a couple nights ago, dunno if i will roster him tonight or not though, i also like Crawford and Redick and they limit you on # of players per team. i had Gasol in game 1 but i think Thompson starting on Cavs might hurt his production a little, so i dunno who i'm taking at PF besides Blake.

can't really decide between Lebron or Harden tonight. if i take Lebron i probably have to choose between Barnes or Ariza (had both Barnes/Ariza at SF game 1). Harden and Josh Smith were my two duds from game 1.

yea i miss days all the time since i started a month ago (for DFS, not for work lol). although it's a little easier now with the NBA playoffs and the fact that i don't want to touch baseball.

it's kind of funny how many of my entries are submitted with less than 30 seconds before lineup lock

i kept playing the playoffs cause im stubborn and i'm about breakeven so far. down a bit in baseball, mainly because of shooting it in GPPs whenever i see big overlay. but slowly figuring out cash games, just never certain whether a winning lineup was strong or lucky or if a losing lineup was bad or unlucky.

Daut do you use more lineups for MLB in cash compared to NBA? i usually just enter 1 lineup for NBA, maybe sometimes 2 (but probably always 1 now for playoffs) because it seems like otherwise the rake just eats you. but there's so many options with MLB, and with the variance being bigger it seems like it could make more sense to use multiple lineups maybe?

also, any idea how achievable winrates for MLB compare to NBA, are they about the same?

edit: micro-heater since the playoffs has been strong (filtered starting with beginning of playoffs)

wish that reflected prior 2-3 weeks of results when i first started

Did not like tonight MLB games...

P - D. Haren MIA
C - D. Norris SD
1 - M. Teixeira NYY
2 - D. Gordon MIA
3 - A. Rod NYY (IRL he is an ass hat but is .500 with 3 bombs v. opposing pitcher.)
SS - E. Andrus TEX
OF - K. Calhoun LAA
OF - M. Byrd CIN (Sucks hardcore this year but coming out of slump from the 2 hole.)
OF - J. Ellsbury NYY

We shall see - Entered 5 games, 4 50/50s and 1 league where top 12 win. Currently 7.5 points with one cashing. Ellsbury is good for a SB if he gets on and either GayRod or Tex will go yammie.

Daut    United States. May 08 2015 04:48. Posts 8955

i did not play today, but here are some notes on your lineup:
-i would have gone archer or burnett as pitcher. the options were bad today, but generally you want the best pitcher on the day
-Norris has atrocious RvR splits. under .300 wOBA lifetime vs righties. would basically never go him when facing a righty.
-altuve had to be the nut 2nd baseman today. cheaper than gordon and when hes facing a lefty you want him every time. dee gordon's stats are also really unsustainable. his BABIP this year is .485 which is a good sign hes just running well above expectation. BABIP really shouldnt be above the .280-.360 range (even .360 is high)
-arod is one of those guys that has better RvR splits lately than RvL splits. he doesnt over his entire career, but since 2013 he does far better vs righties. I would ignore his stats vs tillman though. in general BvP stats are not predictive at all. there are exceptions like goldschmidt vs lincecum, but for the most part ignore it, but that said arod was still a good play today
-SS was a barren wasteland today. no comment on any choice there
-like calhoun, but would have gone some SD outfielders. no games in coors = play guys in arizona.
