| | Whine whine by Artanis[Xp], August 13
Yeah, I was just dropping by to whine some more. Nobody should've told me what PokerEV was.

Ah well, gotta move on. There are people that run much worse in larger stakes, so I'll keep my head up and continue grinding.

| | ups and downs by TheTrees, August 12
While playing at a fellow friend/poker player's house I dropped around 8 buy ins over the course of one day. Was really rough (sooo many bad beats), but that doesn't discourage me anymore. Been grinding the past few days when I feel up to it and won back everything I lost +$100. BR is now $4500 with rakeback coming in a few days (should be $600-700).
good beats:
1. Fall semester is approaching and only a week and a half before I move back to Tally (that's when I begin 100NL).
2. convinced my other roomate to start playing poker, so we're now rolling 3 deep in our apt.
Cheers.

| | Back to NL10 by NeillyJQ, August 12
Well, tonight was fucking hellacious.
I managed to lose 6 buy-ins in 2 hours tonight, bringing my roll back under $400..
Whatever I did it just wouldn't work out..I'm going to be grinding on NL10 for the next couple days to get myself back to NL25 and go from there..
This session was fucking horrible.
I'm annoyed, pissed, angry, w/e.
This hand just about sums up my night;

http://pokerdonors.com
I haven't played a hand of poker the past week or so, as all of my time has been spent working on this project.
All the talk about helping kids out, and the overwhelming response to the thread byr started made me realize that a lot of effort is NOT being made to organize poker players.
The site is in a very "beta" stage. I am open to any and all suggestions from you guys. Please check it out, and let me know what you think. I'd like to hear any/all opinions/criticism ("Your site looks like shit", "1% of all donations?! Why are you trying to rob people?" ) .
http://pokerdonors.com/faq/ will explain a lot about what I'm going to try to do.
http://pokerdonors.com/charities/ shows a list (with pictures of receipt) of all of the children we are sponsoring so far.
*Nazgul, please let me know if this is not cool.
Thanks a lot,
Cory

| | First day at NL25 by NeillyJQ, August 12
I started the day running really bad and dropped three buy-ins in the beginning, before the cards turned for me and I won back what I lost and a little more.
I'm really enjoying the dynamic on NL25 and will be playing here for the next month or so;
Heres my stats from todays session;
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 1819 hands and saw flop:
- 132 out of 250 times while in big blind (52%)
- 58 out of 242 times while in small blind (23%)
- 129 out of 1327 times in other positions (9%)
- a total of 319 out of 1819 (17%)
Pots won at showdown - 49 of 84 (58%)
Pots won without showdown - 180
Getting closer and closer to Supernova, woohoo~

| | Ramblings from the DC by jayluf, August 12
Brief clarification. Upon immediate feedback, I was informed that my inaugural blog did not shed me in the best of light. I'm really not a bad looking dude people. I used to be very athletic. Went to college, drank too much beer, ate one too many chicken fingers, ran a little less, and now I am a 'normal' size 36. Whatever.
And no, Kristen is not presurring me to buy a house or a ring. Yet.
So.. onto some poker! Finally. I really don't play many MTT's anymore. I just don't have the time. I mainly play HU SNG's and Ring games. I was pretty sucessful in MTT's last year. That's all I really played (aka no girlfriend in 2006). I played mainly $10 - $20 MTT's. I finished 1st or 2nd in every MTT FT, except for one. So, I pride myself on my FT play. Too often in these donkaments, aggro play is the standard. In my first few FT's, I also was pretty aggro and my results reflected this variance. Since I believe my short handed game is pretty strong, I tightened up quite a bit and opened up as they got 7,6,5 and 4 handed.
So I took down the 20K VIP Pokerstars freeroll a few weeks ago for 2.2K. Sorry, I dont' have the HH for it, but i think that was my best FT played. Every now and then I've had time to play the nightly $10 NLHE 10 Minute Blind Levels on Stars. I love these, and stars recently changed the structure to them. Which means I now love them about as much as Margot's dimples from Punky Brewster.
I make the FT after only being all in twice for the entire tournament.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249470 Here, I pop from late position with 77. The BB defends. I personally don't like this. His flat here narrows his range to small pairs 22 - 55/66, KQ/KJ, and Ax. Flop brings out 3 overs and he donk front bets. Okay, he wants to see where his Ax stands here. Fair enough, I shove, expecting an insta-fold. Just kidding, villain insta-calls with A3... what? So i hit my 2 outter and double up.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249472 Then this hand happens. Folded to SB who raises into my big. I have a huge range that will shove here. He insta calls with 33. There is soooo much that has 33 in either horrible shape or at best a flip. This is actually similar to the Patrik Antonius-Doyle Brunson hand played at the NADBC. Me having A2 is the BEST possible hope for 33 to make a call. So i spike the ace, and the dude berates me there after asking what i was doing shoving A2 there. Blah, Blah. Yawn. So he's still talking when this hand comes up.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249480 EP raiser was folding to a lot of shoves. Villain probably recognizes this and shoves. IMO he doesnt need a big hand here. I pick up AK, and thought for 2 seconds before shoving. Villain has A4. Bricks out and GG.
Nothing really eventful thereafter. Make FT. Got lucky when i tried a resteal. Eventually bust 4th. I was a shorti and pushed a marginal holding as my FE was dwindling.
Have won a few sat's over the weekend.. including a sunday million seat today.. but can't play today due to my lack of quality fitting dress pants, so kris10 is dragging me to the mall. Still hungover from last night... went to Adam's Morgan, started drinknig around 6, made it to about 1. Big improvement over prior weeks attempts to drink for 5+ hours.
Have had requests for my pstars avatar. Will post shortly.

So this is a plain and simple vent. I just smashed the SHIT out of a deer on the freeway going ~60mph basically I think I totaled my car that I just bought 3 weeks ago. So GG Deer and GG car and GG 6k. Fuck! I'm going to start hunting from now on. Also I only have Liability insurance since the car isn't that expensive. So another bad beat there...

| | -3bi for the week by lolgiraffe, August 12
Small sample, only played about 8k hands this week and ended down 3.5bi. Today was pretty lame in itself, seemed like every time I jammed in good equity spots I would get there on the turn and they'd redraw on the river. I mean, it isn't bad beats or suckouts, just loving flips. For some reason it sucks more if you get there and then they re-get there rather than just never getting there, lol. =)
I'm trying to play a straight forward TAG game lately but I really hate it. It feels like I never get paid off because my image is so tight and now no one wants to take shots bluffing at me either. I figured it'd be an easy chip up, but I keep spewing so that doesn't help anything. Maybe nitty isn't for me, maybe it is and 8k isn't enough. It's certainly low variance which is cool, I guess.
A few fun overpair folds
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249263
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249266
And some good old losers
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249267 - Thin call in weird spot with TT. Ran this by a few people, feels like a call is OK.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249268 - I make a bad play preflop, continued by bad play post flop to a hit card that forces me to put it all in. I still feel a river fold is OK.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249270 - Preflop is horrible, post flop is even worse. My raise should be treated as value vs a call and a blocker vs an AI. Not good enough to fold there is sad..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/249271 - Super thin call vs 3bet jam on flop.
I mean, all four of these spots I could have avoided but still not disciplined or good enough to do it. Maybe one week I'll get to make a post where its like "oh hey I played good and I won and I'm not living off rakeback" haha. Maybe, just gotta keep studying and grinding I guess. At least I have a day job.
Nothing else to report, just playing lots of hands "tight is right" and trying to stay positive. Maybe next week.

| | NL10 and up by NeillyJQ, August 11
Today I had a nice session on NL10 and decided to move up to NL25.
I've found my winning groove, playing at 14-16% (depending on how many hands I see in the blinds for free) and hope to make it to NL50 to stay for a good long while.
Here are my stats from todays session on NL10;
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 1897 hands and saw flop:
- 133 out of 261 times while in big blind (50%)
- 55 out of 262 times while in small blind (20%)
- 137 out of 1374 times in other positions (9%)
- a total of 325 out of 1897 (17%)
Pots won at showdown - 33 of 66 (50%)
Pots won without showdown - 187
Happy to have found myself again at the table, and will start posting hand analysis from my sessions soon.
GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe)

| | Wizard and today results by PplusAD, August 11
okay first todays results
i am + 109 $ for today (in 5 h )and therefore this is the second best Poker income day in my whole life !
It is by far the best day playing the stakes i am rolled for ^^
It was a very interesting day and i ran absolutely awful in the beginning.
I did not cash the first 8 MTTs in a row T_T and so i started the day with - 8 buy ins in about 1 hour and a few minutes.
I had 1-9 coinflipp stats ...
but i did not give up and just kept going with very agressive play.
I dindt run too great the whole day in about 30-40 or so MTTs, but i managed to cash in about 1/4 of the MTT which was enough to make money.
SOme interesting stats that i took notes of
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AA i got 7 times , won them 1 time lost them 5 times got no action 1 time after preflop raise
KK i got 4 times with 0-4 stats ...
QQ i got 5 times with 2-3 stats
Coinflip stats with about 50-50 chances
WOn 11 lost 27
suckout stats :
won when brutally behind 6 lost when far ahead 6
so besides the suckout stats which were nice
i got totally raped by mother luck today .
Yet i made 22$ /h
I can hardly belive this ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
now about a Program called SNG wizard.
I ve heared about a program called SNG Wizzard that claims to give u mathematically + EV play for every possible SNG situation.
anyone tried it ?
Is it worth.
Isnt that cheating if u have a programm that advices u the most + EV move in specific situations while playing ?
Another Question is about the FPP store.
DO i have to pay any taxes or charges for shipping etc. when i order a Pokerstars stress ball all the way to germany ?

| | Live tournament by rANDY, August 11
Would like to hear some thoughts on some hands I had today in a live tournament.
Background, for the last few months ive been playing this national tournament at my local pool hall, where after 10 freezeout tournaments the top 6 players go to a regional final.
6 from the 54 that get to the regionals go to the nationals, where the real prize money is.
There are 5 tickets at the regionals to the nationals which are my main interest, not cashing, here are the hands:
1st hand I am quite comfortable with but just a small question. Around 30 left I have 22,000 stack and have all but the BB covered, average about 9,000. Just been moved to a new table where I only know 1 player.
Blinds 300-600 villian in MP raises to 3,000 with about 3,500 behind. I look down at AKo in the CO. I raised enough to cover the initial raiser who called and I lost the race against QQ. When I reraise should I go allin or just enough to cover? I dont think I can fold AK even to his slight over raise.
2nd hand I am not sure what to do, down to around 14,000, average stack just below 10,000. Middle position raises to 2,000 at 400-800 blinds, me in SB look down at TdTh and call the other 1,600. BB calls the raise too. Flop K86 all spades. I check, BB checks, MP bets 2,000 into the 6,000 pot. I called, BB moves all in and has me covered. MP folds and I fold. BB tables As9s.
So after this I am just below average stack and get blinded down to 4,000 at 400-800 where I open shove 59o on the button and get called in the BB by AJ and don't improve.
Was an annoying tournament as for 2 hours I chipped up nicely for 2 hours to be one of the chipleaders and then in 20 minutes im out.
thx for reading
