Would like to hear some thoughts on some hands I had today in a live tournament.
Background, for the last few months ive been playing this national tournament at my local pool hall, where after 10 freezeout tournaments the top 6 pla<x>yers go to a regional final.
6 from the 54 that get to the regionals go to the nationals, where the real prize money is.
There are 5 tickets at the regionals to the nationals which are my main interest, not cashing, here are the hands:
1st hand I am quite comfortable with but just a small question. Around 30 left I have 22,000 stack and have all but the BB covered, average about 9,000. Just been moved to a new table where I only know 1 pla<x>yer.
Blinds 300-600 villian in MP raises to 3,000 with about 3,500 behind. I look down at AKo in the CO. I raised enough to cover the initial raiser who called and I lost the race against QQ. When I reraise should I go allin or just enough to cover? I dont think I can fold AK even to his slight over raise.
2nd hand I am not sure what to do, down to around 14,000, average stack just below 10,000. Middle position raises to 2,000 at 400-800 blinds, me in SB look down at TdTh and call the other 1,600. BB calls the raise too. Flop K86 all spades. I check, BB checks, MP bets 2,000 into the 6,000 pot. I called, BB moves all in and has me covered. MP folds and I fold. BB tables As9s.
So after this I am just below average stack and get blinded down to 4,000 at 400-800 where I open shove 59o on the button and get called in the BB by AJ and don't improve.
Was an annoying tournament as for 2 hours I chipped up nicely for 2 hours to be one of the chipleaders and then in 20 minutes im out.
thx for reading
