Ok this show is really awesome, funny, entertaining and pretty much like what LP represents. Since a lot of people are still in the "meh, podcasts are zzzz" and are not willing to give it a shot or are just too damn lazy, I'll post podcasts which are worth watching/listening to. I hope mods give this a chance
They talk about very similar things here in LP like trending topics, some weed and pyschedelics, MMA, or just troll - very similar to what kind of shit we have here. I should warn you that it's usually about 2 to 3 hours long on the average so it's good to watch when you got nothing to do. enjoy
Most recent ones which I loved (but I like almost all): There's a reason why this is one of the most popular podcasts out there with a hardcore, almost cult-like and loyal following
#147
Duncan Trussell(joe's close friend/standup) talks about esports, WOW, and sc2 - one of the favorite guests by podcasts fans and rightfully so http://vimeo.com/30715947
#148
Kevin Pereira (attack of the show host/comedian) talks about Occupy movement, Siri, skynet - very intelligent and retarded discussions
#134
Kevin Smith (director, star wars fanboy, also has a good podcast) talks about his childhood, very witty, smart and good conversations between him and joe
#132
Bert "the machine" kreischer - great storyteller and host of "bert the conqueror" tv series.
great podcast i think ive listened to every single episode.
the previous one with kevin pereira was very good, also all the ones with bryan callen.

joey diaz, bert kreischer, duncan trusell are my favorite repeat guests. is bryan callen the one who co-created the chappelle show? coz that guy was also a good guest too.

Rogan is a boss, although he did lose some points with me in his most recent podcast where him, RedBan, and their guest had no idea who Tiesto was, and went on to talk about him in a newbie manner. Apparently Russell Peters was on Rogan's podcast awhile back and said Tiesto isn't really a DJ, all he does is press play and stand there.

good thread. i was in the process of looking for stuff to do on long'ish car rides and this thread will probably be the medicine.
if you are into EDM you should chk out:
1.) avicii - levels
dude is a phenom and has basically been touring tirelessly the last year and a half or so and knows what's up.
2.) glow radio
has some pretty killer live shows.
3.) pacha nyc
ditto
4.) roger sanchez - release yourself
kind of hit n miss but some of his older shows and special shows are great.
re: tiesto
imo tiesto isn't that great of a dj. tbf i have only been to a couple of tiesto shows and the venues weren't the best but when people ask me about dj's you gotta see he doesn't really come to mind. i would say he is a great producer though and definitely great at branding, marketing and pr. this is actually sounding kind of harsh. basically, he definitely does more than just stand there and press play but doesn't lead quite as good of a party as a lot of other djs (which many are not nearly as good at producing as tiesto). i would actually like to see tiesto with his residency at xs b/c i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of my bias was due to venue and i could see him absolutely killing it there.

Rhonda Rousey - MMA chick (former Judo champ)
The guy from the great documentary "Collapse" Michael Rupert (former LA police officer who exposed the CIA for selling drugs and is still alive with tons of stories to tell)
interesting cat, his crazy life and passion. Conspiracy theory guy who actually lived through shit

In their defense Tiesto is a very shitty commercial DJ, and quite bad at live performances, there are a couple of videos on youtube showing how he totally fucks up, lets just say Tiesto is the Britney Spears of DJs.
Frankly the only good song he has is adagio but thats only because its a remix of a masterpiece

Health and nutrition expert who will change the way you think about the subject
Sent to prison a couple of years for "helping out" athletes in the 80's onwards (with PEDS). He spills the beans on how EVERYONE is taking PEDS and/or is just circumventing the current laws. Another eye opener
This podcast is interesting because this is where the whole "rape culture" debate and eventual mutual dislike between Joe and his guest

Dave Asprey one definitely most interesting. I checked out lots of his talks and lectures after that, and I maybe read 10 hours or so on his blog lol.
And now, literally, 10 minutes ago I made Ghee lol. I bought 5 packs of the best butter I can find at the store. And I tried clearing it. Not sure if I did a 100% job, some residue, but not much, 99% clear.
Have it to rest now, gonna seal it up, and put it in the fridge afterward. 4 packs only got like 4dl or so xD

Gotten really bored of the comedians for some reason. I kinda feel their wibe. It's most fascinating when you're learning shit and it's fun, it's double pleasure lol.
I liked that Jason Silva guy too, whenever it's someone who's really knowledgable within his domain, some Dr. type or something awesome, those are my favourites xD
Not hating on the friendly comedians, just a lill boring lol

idk, i think the podcast is entertaining but joe usually sounds like a moron when he tries to talk about any "serious" topic (i.e. anything besides MMA/comedy). i think neil tyson degrasse would go insane if he had to sit there for 2 hours and explain to joe why he's wrong about something 50 times because he just doesn't get it.

i agree basically, for most everyday things it would be awesome to talk to someone like joe. i just think for certain topics like science or philosophy-type stuff where he's out of his element it becomes a little painful to watch at times.

Dave Asprey one is part bull shit. Guy's view is way too polarizing, claims he couldn't undo his obesity via eating less calories and working out consistently, instead he blamed the toxins and inflammation he had within his system. He's also trying to hype up all these foreign ingredients that have some research for boosting mental and physical performance when in fact he's actually on speed and testosterone. I agree with the point that it's important to get all your vitamins, minerals, complete proteins, and essential fatty acids but I feel like Dave is exaggerating half the time. Gotta take everything anyone says with a grain of salt no matter what, my motto just try to eat as clean as you can, eat a variety, and eat in moderation.
Joe Rogan also had a talk with the Georgio Tsukalos guy from Ancient Aliens and that podcast was actually quite entertaining. I was actually able to take Georgio seriously and I think personally he'd probably be a cool go to know and hang out with.

Yeah, I just listened to the NDT episode yesterday. I just found out about an awesome app called Stitcher, on my S3.
Rogan's show was the first to pop up in the comedy section on Stitcher.
Although I watch his show on my computer, I can now stop listening to music while traveling to and from school, and listen to Rogan's show instead, and stop watching his show on my computer, which leaves me more time to study~~~
p.s. It's amazing how smart and quick NDT is, I wonder what his parents are/were like.

The podcast is improving over time and mostly now it's about having his best buds or complete strangers who really have something to say - also he's toned down a lot since the first100 episodes.

Anything by Stefan Molyneux is very good. He has a philosophy podcast with like 1,500+ videos and a call in show every week to help with people's problems. He's an Anarcho-Capitalist Libertarian with a lot of articulate videos on various subjects. He's very pro-peaceful parenting, here's one of his videos on that.
Appearance on Joe Rogan show (there are two, I've only seen one, not sure which this is but I presume it's good if I haven't)
His views on the economy
A government is the most dangerous threat to man’s rights: it holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force against legally disarmed victims. - Ayn Rand

I don't think it's already been mentioned but for sports, the BS Report by Bill Simmons is pretty good. He brings in various athletes, actors, ect to talk about an assortment of topics. I just recently watched one where he had Colin Kaepernick on as a guest and it was well done
also for just basketball in particular (NBA) the Jalen Rose report is really good

another podcast I'd recommend is Dope Stories...they actually bring Dr. Carl Hart on for an interview one episode
it's done by one former poker player (Shaniac/Shane Schleger) and one former poker news journalists (Pauly Maguire). they're both pretty interesting people that have pretty interesting/funny stories to tell but in general the podcast is based upon a rational discussion of drug use/drugs in general

Anything Bryan Callen is on is great
The fighter and the kid - (fox sports 1 podcast, disappeared from stitcher but can be found on podbay.fm)
The best podcast out there, each episode will make you laugh and some MMA info 1 hour
Ten minute podcast - lasts ten minutes and is hilarious, but you gotta keep updated on the running gags to get entertained
Bryan Callen show - just like the JRE only funnier and more infromative 1 hour

just tuned in to watch the livestream, listened to a few minutes and haxton was stuttering with lots of awkward pauses, having difficulty articulating himself etc.
going to go back and listen to the whole thing later, hope he comes across better overall. was there any reason isaac in particular was chosen to do this?
listening from the beginning now, about 30 mins in, seems to be coming off better than the other segments i listened to =]

somewhat agree, way too much self editing on his part, has the longest silent pauses in his speech than any other person I've ever listened to.

Well there is a pause of a couple of seconds here and there before his answer, which may come of quite awkwardly on a podcast (at least i thought so because I like to turn the screen off to rest my eyes), but overall i think Ike did a very good job. Him taking pauses is just getting his apparent massive amounts of knowledge on basically everything into order. (sometimes I feel Joe should take those same pauses) or him trying to figure out what Joe's ambivalent question ment
I lol'ed though when that "researcher guy" (dont know what his actual job is) in the background said about Tiger Woods that "they say he has about 10 year left in his career to catch Jack Nicholson" :D

Yeah, Haxton kept pausing while talking during the first hour or so of the podcast, there were 2-3 times where I switched back to look at the YouTube video because I thought it froze, but it was just Haxton pausing before/while talking.
I would have liked it if there was more interesting stuff being talked about, instead of Rogan just asking him basic/newbie questions about poker. I mean, I don't expect Haxton to be super smart like some of Rogan's other guests, but asking the poker related questions that he did was kinda boring imo, probably cuz I already knew about the stuff being asked from other videos I've watched in the past.
Overall, it was cool to see him on the podcast.

A lot of the things he said I'm aware of that I do sometimes live. It's a hard thing to control and a lot of the time it will happen to me randomly when I'm bluffing or if I'm very strong. I always wondered why a lot of the live pros just out of nowhere all started wearing scarfs lol

I thought Ike articulated very well.. when you're trying to condense poker information into simple talk that anyone listening to Joe Rogan could understand you can't always spout it instantly especially for some of the things Ike was saying. Was glad to see Ike pause before his letting his thoughts out, I was not bothered by it

if you read my following post you will see that when i went back and listened to the entire thing i thought he came off pretty well overall.
during the livestream, i basically randomly tuned into his worst 5-10 mins of the podcast.

i think he did a good job on some things, and not so much on others.
for ex. i don't remember exactly what he said, but he was responding to something along the lines of "is poker gambling" or "to what extent is poker gambling" or w/e, and i thought his answer was really unnecessarily drawn-out, in a spot where it would be so easy to give an answer that's more concise, and still doesn't lose any of the relevant points of ike's reply (esp. since it's an obvious question you know beforehand is going to come up). can't remember the timestamp but it's toward the beginning i think.
the entirety of the interview was definitely a lot better than my first impression though.
Haxton is a huge nerd that's why it sucked. It got better towards the end anyway. The interview would've made a lot more sense 7 years ago when poker was really taking off. Still brought back good memories.
The feeling I got from listening to this talk is very similar to that awkward feeling when a random stranger starts asking me details about playing poker for a living
I like both of these guys a lot but horrible interview this time around
pretty sick how nuts people are going about Ike pausing before he talks, youtube comments section especially

Rory made a good point when he stated the obvious about GSP: "I don't think Georges tries to play it safe; he's constantly fighting THE best guy in the world for 10-years in a row -- cuz he's the champ, right? -- so, it's the next guy at his best, peaking for the most important moment in his martial arts career. He's gotta fight that guy for 10 years, or however long he held the belt, in a row; people don't really take that into consideration. He's always gotta be THE best in the world... ...His opponents are not just training for another fight, they're training to be at their best."

Schaub for sure needs to ditch his shitty camp. Bravo and Ludwig. More Rogan, less Callen when preparing for a fight. His boxing is shit and his movement is probably at the bottom of the HW division. I think he prefers people who he gets along with (butters his ego up always), than really putting together a camp that can elevate him to top 5. Pretty uncomfortable but for me this applies to a broader range of issues with anybody's life (mine included), brutal honesty is so uncomfortable when you feel it's the truth, but not addressing it directly is a disservice to anybody wanting to improve. I remember parts of my life in the earlier days of the JRE where I was so depressed about a lot of stuff and this kind of spiels by Rogan really hit me hard which really made me look into myself and everything I knew was wrong with me but chose not to address. Watch it.

Ionno been a JRE podcast listener for a while, listen to hundreds of them, but starting to get tired of it. Hate how he can be condescending towards his guests and how he's constantly being hypocritical and contradicting himself, He also gets overly aggressive when expressing his opinions especially about the coming future especially when he has scientific guests on his show. Just a couple episodes ago he tries to shut down one of his guest who has a belief that some people are just naturally prone to being non-sympathetic, sociopaths, etc. due to nature/genetics. Joe kept harping that his guest had no scientific evidence to support his belief of claims while Joe kept saying people are only f'ed up if they had shitty parents or what not and was not giving any sort of scientific studies himself what so ever. I know the show is meant to be casual or more conversational like but Joe needs to be more humble when it comes to fields outside his expertise. It's a shame because I look forward to the episodes where he has a doctor or scientist on the show, but that's usually the eps he f's up.

I went dark and almost rage quit when n0thing said "starcraft players could probably play with any mouse", seems like an alright guy and good esports representative overall though

This guy is great. Definitely do not agree with everything he is saying but he has brought up some great points I have not thought about. Also, he says (and can partially get away) with saying some really awesome truths that I just can't or I suppose won't go near. Good shit. Thanks.
yeah he's really out there a lot of the time, but he does explain himself extremely well sometimes that you tend to forgive him for being an asshole haha

Yeah I wonder why they took so long haha. He definitely could have his own podcast but I don't think sponsors would flock to him knowing some of what he says is pretty damn outrageous. Very clever guy though
I really think he just pretends to be religious to appear more controversial. Almost everything he says and represents is kind of "sinful"

From that podcast I do not know if we can say if he believes the Bible is fact. He is definitely pro-Christianity. I gathered he is also very much pro-fame and money. He is definitely a very unique individual, clever, speaks well. A right wing purple cow for sure. Basically, it would baffle me that someone that sharp would actually believe the Bible mythology as factual but I have been wrong and baffled before.
I almost want to start a thread on stuff they talked about.
Is there any science on developing babies? If the baby does not have a heart or a brain is it really a human? Without any factual science to the contrary it does seem like murder. I have murdered mice because they were fucking around eating my food. I do not know if that is a good reason. I have murdered fish because it is fun catching them and they are a good food. I am going to back that decision 100% as long as it is responsible fishing. What's the problem with murdering a blob of cells so it does not completely fuck up my life?
I definitely agree that it is fucked up if women are bragging about their abortions. Help someone who is thinking about it or has gong through it sure but otherwise yikes.
Damn, I am thankful I have not been through that myself (yet...) My suggestion to others so far has been, "I am here for you. I am pro-choice but you have to make the choice."
Transgender as a mental health issue was really interesting to me. I never thought about that. Likely much better to work with a therapist. That is a very radical change and 40% unhappy about it is not good. From my experience with LGBT many would be appalled at transgender as a mental health issue but that is something where I am like hmm, there could be something there. I am sure at one point bigots thought being gay was a mental illness and Mike Pence still to this day strongly believes in gay conversion. Oh well.
Immigration. I do not know where I stand on this topic. I just don't. I have thought about going way left where we let everyone in and educate and integrate and accept but that seems crazy. I have thought about going way right and not letting anyone in and just deporting everyone but that is crazy too. I have never heard an immigration policy that makes sense or that I was like "yeah, that seems decent." Maybe some of the euros who have been dealing with it a lot can chime in?

He is religious, Its hard to believe intelligent people who dont take the norm as rule can actually fall for such a ridiculous belief tbh.
Somewhere in the first hour he does mention that religion acts as an anchor for people to make sense out of a chaotic world. Obviously if he doesn't realize that this applies to him as well then he's far less intelligent than you people give him credit for.

It wouldnt surprise me as someone suggested earlier that in fact he wasnt religious, he says it himself in the podcast that he loves playing devils advocate and he is a huge cynic and he doesn't mean half the shit that he says (like when he says you cannot be transphobe because fearing them is not irrational), just like a modern Oscar Wilde, you have to read between lines because they find cynicism extremely funny.
as i was reading up on the beef between Ben86 and WCGRider youtube recommended to me this interview of RYAN DAUT:
i haven't had time to watch most of it, just a few mins where he talks about Ethereum at the 1 hr 40ish mark (if you go to the actual youtube link there's timestamps for different topics). 3.5 hours is a long fucking time :S

I do not think Dan's poker background is bullshit. I do think the omission of any inheritance from his father's illicit funds is bull shit. What evidence do I really have though? I do not condemn him if he is lying. We are all the sum of our brains and our environments. I do think he is living authentically. It is fun peering into that way of living.

I'm really cynical of all the POKER parts of the podcast though. I dunno man, the way he talks about poker is like some guy who just discovered the "aha moment" after playing 10nl for a long time lol. His thoughts on the game seems very 2007 and it's like hearing myself talk about poker to someone I know who knows nothing while trying to impress that person.

According to the podcast, directly from DB:
*He started out a broke college guy
*Made some money playing poker(?)
*Then got to be friends with some movie guys, how did he get a BR for that?
He could have won 50m over months vs some guy(if already had money like some say he has from his dad), but his story of building everything he has around poker and from that getting action from some billionaire dude nobody's heard of is B.S.
Joe just didn't ask any questions about his story since he knows nothing about poker

I had a 3 hour drive the other day and was looking for a JRE and none of them looked any good. Where the hell was this one?!?!
I ended up listening to Moderat - Moderat, Tool - Lateralus, and Sam Harris 1st ask him anything podcast and it was pretty sweet but a cool JRE fits so perfectly for that drive.

Man, I am halfway through. I really like this discussion. First thing that jumps out that I like is that we are currently in the least flawed system to date. It has major flaws but it is the least flawed system. It might just be semantics but I disagree that we do not need revolution. Well, I should say I think revolution would be beneficial. I am totally with Peterson though in that we do not need a revolution of the kind the feminine studies activist are looking for and definitely not what the Marxists are looking for. I just realized today that I am rusty on anarchy and have 2 books waiting to be read: "Anarchy, State, and Utopia" and "The Libertarian Ideal." This inspired me to get my positions real sharp and engage.
I also liked what Peterson had to say about universities. Awesome stuff. Also, very fucked up that that is the state of things. LOL on the social psychology too. I was told never to trust it by someone who had a degree in the field. Now I am getting riled up just as Peterson was. Rogan does a decent job of mostly staying out of the way.

Joe and Alex had some small misunderstanding but finally they've squashed that leading up to this GIANT podcast. For the first time you see Alex not as some boss of his show, but how he gets called out by Eddie Bravo on some shit like his Y2k predictions and how he got it wrong. He almost totally acts like a regular person and does come off here as just any other dude with some huge platform (like Joe). He explains and clears up a ton of shit being shown about him plus a lot of the Anti-Trump propaganda, MSM, Pizzagate and Pedophilia ring of the Clintons which for me does not sound crazy at all after watching. This is probably the best episode of the JRE ever. If you want to see Alex Jones the plain dude, watch this.
They smoke weed and drink whisky too! Btw, he is not just some guest, Joe and Alex have known each other for almost 20 years, they've kinda drifted apart but it's great to see how they've completely turned into two of the biggest podcasts in the internet

I donated all my business books to the library except Whatcha Gonna Do With That Duck? By Seth Godin. Most of his catalog is pretty great but The Purple Cow in particular is a must read. I am a little reluctant to give a fascist enabler the keys to the Dark Arts of Marketing but I am not sure if any of his books can be found in audiobook format so lol.

Current Affairs editor-in-chief Nathan J. Robinson sits down with the Patron Saint of Current Affairs, himself: Noam Chomsky!
Topics discussed include: consciousness, the limits of human knowledge, Steven Pinker, Jordan Peterson, academia, artificial intelligence and more.
------------
Watching now. Pretty disappointing interview so far. Fairly superficial and not focusing on Chomsky' strengths. The part on free will and determinacy/randomness is a bit of a joke. Chomsky reveals a pretty massive hole in his knowledge-base to think we haven't made any advance beyond this dichotomy in the past two thousand years. It seems like he paid zero attention throughout his career to the work that was done in second-order cybernetics (which is odd because I know he attended some conferences that had cyberneticians in them). He also confuses 'Mysterianism' with something else. It's not about human beings not having constraints and limits in understanding, it is precisely about the limits imposed on our ability to understand consciousness. Mysterians claim that we can never understand 'the hard problem of consciousness', because it is scientifically inaccessible for some reason.

I still think you or your girl should read Purple Cow. It's a pretty easy read and extremely valuable.
I also just thought of getting familiar with the Eight disciplines problem solving. At the corporation I worked at there was a manufacturing plant in Ohio that did all of the high end product lines. They were well-versed in 8D as well as the project managers, engineers, scientists and salesmen. The CEO decided to close down that plant and so all of those product lines went to a cheap, large volume plant near Chicago. Well, let me tell you that the situation was beyond fucked. Luckily, some of the more progressive people in some important positions bought into what we were doing at the specialty, high end shop in Ohio and eventually it got better. People were fired. People were moved. More money was spent on 8D education and implementation. I will say I ran into similar problems when dealing with subsidiaries of the corporation that had no knowledge of 8D. There was a small brick manufacturer that kept fucking up in the same way over and over and over again and I had to spend the day with the President of the company to actually make any ground in solving the problem. 8D becomes even more important the higher end the product is. We had some shapes that cost $10,000 to produce. It is tough to make a profit if manufacturing is consistently fucking up (in typically the same repeatable way) even if the margin is sky high. So, I am sure there are many ways to solve a problem but 8D worked in theory and practice from my experiences.

Honestly never knew much about Joe Rogan outside of his hosting Fear Factor and commentating UFC. I always thought of him as a small-man-syndrome douchebag based on the way he got into an argument with some random on myspace and bragged about all his money or whatever it was. Gave his podcast a try after it came across my youtube recommended videos and it's actually pretty decent. I really like his interviewing style.

Yeah back in the Fear Factor days I never knew much about Joe besides that. I randomly started checking his pod out 3-4 years ago when he had some guests that really interested me. He has really gotten very proficient at interviewing guests. I love the fact that he has such a wide variety of people that come from extremely different backgrounds. He's very good at letting the guest make their points/arguments and then countering with factual based information.
Some of my favorite guests that you can go back on Youtube and listen to are in no order: Kid Cudi, Teddy Atlas, Jocko Willink, Bill Burr, Georges St. Pierre (most recent one), & Anthony Bourdain

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm driving from Florida to Reno next week so I will definitely have time to check these out
"countering with factual based information" lol. Joe Rogan isn't where you go for learns, he's an entertainer. He's good at what he does (talking), but often his biases are all over the place and he pushes a fair amount of misinformation. There's been a running joke in the comments for a while about him changing his personality to suit the views of the person he has on his show. He rarely pushes back on his guests when he should, except if they argue for the dumbest shit, like Dave Rubin when he argued for anarcho-capitalism or that clueless NYT journalist he had on recently who was smearing people she doesn't know with insults that she didn't know the definitions of lmao. He has so many people on that sometimes they are total idiots like Mikhaila Peterson that nobody should be paying attention to, but he occasionally has really good guests. If you steer clear of his nutrition and politics-heavy episodes, you should be good.

Actually I agree with many things Loco said about JRE, although I think hyper-confrontation isn't the way to go in most cases or people will come to your podcast in a defensive position or not come at all, he recieved criticism for how soft he was with Jack Dorsey and I think he handled it correctly the 2nd time, confrontation was needed so he invited a 3rd party much better prepared than himself.
He only is confrontational when it comes about defending drugs and discussing conspiracies, but he usually keeps things entretaining and make his hosts feel comfortable and given how long podcasts are I thing these are extremely important.

I only loved the JRE till the Redban era ended. When Jamie took over it just turned into this socio-political platform for bros. Lots of my favorite guests no longer go on there for fear they might say something offensive and get run out of their careers. The only guys who go on there that I like are Brendan, Bryan and Bravo (who dgaf), Brendan and Bryan are still able to pander to the larger audience without really looking too careful about shit they say. Bravo gets too much hate for being crazy but that's just because he still talks like it's the JRE 2009 where you can say crazy shit to friends and not get any blowback.
All about the benjamins. Confrontational podcasts would earn him a lot less money, since he'd have much fewer guests. People know they can go on there and expect to be given a huge audience and a pretty easy time. Unless you're a scientologist or something. Even if you're a vegan, you're usually spared his most annoying beliefs, as long as you're not "preachy".
I saw some of that Twitter podcast with grifter extraordinaire Tim Pool, oh god... that is exactly where Joe Rogan is at his worst. He has a lot of pretend-to-be health experts and pretend-to-be "politically woke" people on his show; Tim Pool is one of them (a guy pretending to be a real journalist). Here's a picture of him without his hat on:
Seriously though. I'd bet so much money on the fact that he wouldn't have done this podcast if he had been given an ultimatum: no hat or no podcast.Hiding his stupid head is worth a lot more to him than the money and subscribers he made from this.

Nah, I had only seen Tim once before that but he did a good job confronting the PR bot giving generic evasive answers, since that was the whole purpose of the 2nd podcast since Joe got so much heat for letting Dorsey off lightly about its leftist censorship bias.
There was a particularly good one when the woman claimed one of the reasons they banned the Proud Boys was because they were labeled a terrorist orgnization by the US gov, and Tim informed them that they are infact not labeled as a terrorist organization, but that Homeland security has infact labeled Antifa as a domestic terrorist org

Duncan mentioned it once to Redban in another pod, they described how large the podcast has become with a kind of fearful tone, Bravo talks about it with Tripoli a lot. Joey and Ari doesn't really go on as much. Those guys were regulars back then if nobody else was available. One thing I've noticed though, each time Joe gets under fire he goes back to his old buddies (Redban or Ari) for an episode or two before going back to regular programming. It could be coincidence but it's happened more than once. Rogan has literally gotten way too big now that he's really in the national conversation in a sense.
He had on Nick Depaulo recently again and I think he's never getting on there again lol. Owen Benjamin is nuts and I was actually surprised Joe gambled on Alex but that was sort of a survival episode for both of them as they were under fire for different reasons. Back then those mentioned would be considered buddy guests and nobody would care what they said.
Lastly, Joe always talked about "fuck you money" before and that he was thinking of doing way less things, also mentioned "that compound living alongside his buddies". When the podcast blew up so big and made tens of millions he kinda did the opposite - he actually did more episodes than ever and abandoned the motivational and everyman type of persona. He also shut down his 10k strong forum site wherein he did post a lot of nasty stuff considered taboo in today's climate. I was a member back in 2009 (the forum was built around 1999 iirc) and I've signed up with the new forum where almost every member there is kinda done with him for not even saying goodbye to his old fans and is really responsible for spreading hype over how good the podcast is to everybody they knew.

He's a pretty clueless dude who is out to make a buck on the culture war, he pretty much admitted that much. He spends most of his time talking about censorship and pretending to be unbiased. Jimmy Dore just had him on, probably the first leftist podcast Tim Pool has ever made, and he essentially exposed himself by equivocating like a motherfucker on medicare for all. I'll post it below. Embarrassing. But at least he came out honestly right off the bat and said he has "his own partisan politics" instead of playing the enlightened centrist act.
The Twitter lady probably wanted to say that the Proud Boys are associated with domestic terrorist organizations and misspoke or got confused. It's completely irrelevant. Tim Pool's "comeback" is not a comeback, of fucking course the government wouldn't classify a neo-fascist group as domestic terrorists... they are not a threat to them, quite the opposite, they are extremely useful to them, making sure that they remain in power while the people are fighting over racial issues. The Proud Boys came exist as part of the rise in neo-fascism that came with the Trump administration, and their mission statement was precisely to fight against antifa, and Trump encouraged violence against them himself; they are his allies.
And of fucking course antifa is not an organization, and the government branded it as such in order to restrict people's freedom to protest, even just wearing all black at a protest can be punishable by law, but Tim Pool wouldn't mention that, that's not the freedom he cares about. You know (and I'm sure he does too) that the US funds terrorist groups and doesn't refer to them as such when they promote their interests, so the only reason to appeal to their authority with this knowledge is to play on people's ignorance as a lame "gotcha" comment in order to make the other person look bad. He hypocritically talks about "tribalism" and yet he engages in this kind of deceptive behavior just to score points with an uneducated audience.

So yesterday when I responded to this I gave you the benefit of the doubt that everything you wrote here is factually accurate, but I tried to find out more about it today because it further dawned on me that it would be such a stupid exchange to have, it doesn't make much sense. After searching the podcast I couldn't verify that this exchange actually happened as you say it did. I watched as much of it as I could stomach to try to find a place where they speak of the proud boys and antifa, but the only place I found is in this 10 minutes clip posted below. Here the Twitter lady doesn't mention banning the Proud Boys because of their label as a terrorist organization, and she asked Tim Pool if antifa was labelled as such by the FBI: it wasn't Tim Pool who countered her with that knowledge. He initially say yes, but then he corrects himself and says it's only New Jersey's department of homeland security (DHS) that has listed them as such. Except that's also not really accurate, because they don't have such a list of organizations. They have only issued statement warnings that antifa activist activities were tied to "anarchist extremism" and warned of threats of escalating domestic violence between anti-fascists and far-right extremists.
This same department also fell for a conspiracy theory that antifa was planning to initiate a civil war, which was manufactured by right-wing trolls and pushed by people like Alex Jones. They aren't exactly a reliable group of people... and they get their information about antifa from dubious sources:
"DHS’ understanding of anti-fascism—a broad, decentralized movement that conservative blogs often describe in sensational terms—might be less than perfect. An April 19, 2017 DHS email included in the FOIA documents shows a DHS senior policy adviser sending a link to a post on the now-defunct conservative blog Heat Street titled “Why Are Antifa And The Alt Right Doing Battle? They Agree on Almost Everything.”"
And here's another recent piece of news that shows who we're dealing with:
"Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen defended President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the southern border Wednesday, telling lawmakers in a contentious hearing that officials are on track to detain more than 900,000 migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border this year. Nielsen pushed back against widespread reports that the Trump administration routinely denies migrants a chance to apply for asylum in the U.S., claiming no one would be turned away at a U.S. port of entry. The claim prompted Democrat Nanette Barragán of the House Homeland Security Committee to reply, “Either you’re lying to this committee, or you don’t know what’s happening at the border.” Asked how many children are detained at the border, Nielsen replied she didn’t have the number handy. And she denied that migrant detainees are being held in cages."

I actually agree a lot with what you said as well. I guess my point was that it was the first podcast I can recall listening to where a subject would be discussed and then if the host or guest would be unsure of something on said subject, information would be looked up on the spot through Google (ala Jamie). Of course Joe isn't going to get everything right but comparatively speaking, I think he does a good job overall imo. I very rarely listen to his podcasts if it is a guest where politics are primarily discussed. It just doesn't interest me.

It's good that he has a guy who can do some basic fact checking live, but on-the-fly Google searches aren't that great when it comes to exploring more complex issues. That's where his biggest failures lie, but it's to be expected, he's an entertainer, and he never stops producing content. He's got no time for deep study and it's unlikely he will reevaluate his views because his few great guests don't come on his podcast to challenge him. It's just that a lot of people look to comedians as the ultimate truth tellers, because we had people like Bill Hicks and George Carlin in the past, but I think it's clearly a mistake to put Rogan in that category.

@12:08. It's wild to hear this on the Joe Rogan podcast. I was actually thinking about this exact topic before watching and thinking about Dostoevsky even though I haven't read him in a few years. I was also reading some Situationist stuff and Cornel West brings up the Spectacle at around 13 mins.
I also noted down a quote from Cornel West for the first time a few hours before I stumbled upon this video. (It reminded me of Baal who took offense to being tied to the project of neoliberalism and how clueless he is about what that actually is).
“Neoliberal is somebody of any color who sees a social problem and does three things; privatize, financialize and militarize. You’ve got a problem in the schools, privatize the schools, push back public education. Bring in the financiers, the profiteers. Make money on the test, make money on the teachers while you push out the teachers unions, and then you militarize the schools. You bring in security. We’ve got precious young brothers and sisters in the hoods going to schools like you and I going through the airport. That’s the militarization of the schools. Police, the same way. Outsource, militarize right across the board, so that a neoliberal is somebody who is obsessed with markets." -Cornel West
Weird coincidences today.

Because a big part of religion is about meaning and hope, and nobody needs more of those than the suffering, so catholicism fetichizes it as tool for control, the poor won't revolt if their suffering brings them closer to god so they turn the other cheek and worship Jesus, the ultimate Martyr.
More modern christian sects like evangelics, born again and even progressive catholics like the current pope depict a more loving and happy image of god since that molds better to modern societies where the old angry god of blood and tears isn't that relatable anymore.

taking rikd stream of consciousness statements seriously heh. It would be very strange if jesus never laughed, we should assume he did until proven otherwise, as 99% of people have a sense of humor, even dissidents analyzing the injustices of the roman empire. It felt amazing to just comment on something that isn't politics.
I think he meant how he is depicted, and its not isolated to Jesus, any abrahamic figures are very rarely depicted smiling, contrasting to eastern religions that value like hinduism or the very famous image of Buddah's faint peaceful smile.
The catholics ascenticism was always tangled with the perverse idea of cleansing the soul through pain, this is perfectly reflected in figures like Mother Teresa.

Can you timestamp please? How big of a leftist is Bernie? Don't know much about him besides that he's a senator, tried to run for president last elections and will try again next elections. Doesn't he portray himself more to the center in order to become a viable voting option for conservative people? I watched this episode while doing other stuff so may have missed some points but he repated a bit too often that his ideas were not radical and made sense.

I mean lol, he's in the middle of a presidental campaign. It's going to be real interesting to hear him once he's done with it all. And I mean with all politics. At some point we'll get to hear his real thoughts on shit that had to be played safe.
I just finished watching and it was pretty much boilerplate Bernie. When he said that the rich make the rules and that's how they get away with what they do, it felt like it wasn't boilerplate though. He sounded like he got out of character.

It's not a bad thing that this guy has a legitimate shot to be president. I don't see a scenario that one day the world is a capitalist democracy and the next day it's an anarchist-communism or something of the sort. Bernie would be a step in the right direction.

very underwhelming I think it lacked any kind of probing or pushback from Joe, which has been happening more and more often in his podcast, he only bites when his guests are against drugs lol.
Joe should have pushed against the stupid point of Bernie about Insulin price being bloated because of companies colluding in price-fixing which is obviously not true, its the FDA making any kind of competition impossible by raising the barrier of entry into the hundreds of millions to any farmaceutical company and the mandated insurance consolidating the demand into one "careless" buyer.
So yeah, the state regulates the market into a monopoly, then the same state as a single buyer, buys from this monopoly literally the most inelastic commodity in the planet so they end up paying a ridiculous price for insulin and Bernie is like "these evil capitalists" -_-

the leftist position is it shouldn't be a market, health care should not be run for profit, period.
And Raidern, bernie is basically a typical scandinavian leftist social democrat. At least the policies he advocates are mostly stuff that was introduced into norwegian/scandinavian society by social democrats (but which has since become so popular with the public that it now has support from the conservative bloc too). I have the impression that he himself is further to the left of the policies he advocates are (looking back at cold war interviews, him supporting sandinistas in nicaragua etc, is more like a 'socialist left' (10% leftmost people in norway) position. In a way, if you hear him speak, he will sound like a pretty radical guy in Norway, but the actual policies he wants to implement are very moderate.
But this relates to an element of politics where rhetoric and policy are both influenced in an opposite manner by the existing policies that are in place. That is, for a leftist, existing right wing policy will intensify rhetoric while tempering policy suggestions; suggestions can't be too far detached from the current political reality, however, rhetorically, existing right wing policy makes the need for the leftist solutions far more important and urgent. This is my understanding of why Sanders sounds like a pretty far left leftist while wanting to implement political solutions that to me seem totally moderate.
lol POKER

You can advocate for state-handled healthcare without having to lie about the reason of the prices of insulin.
I agree that in general his policies aren't that far left as you mention he has been supportive of real leftist in latinamerica like Nicaragua or Venezuela before it went to shit, but I think his stances are superficial, cancelling a trillion dollar debt (basically the biggest payday in banker's history) and then say that you are going to tax markte especulators and leave it at that is insane, exactly how are these taxes gong to work and how on earth are they going to ammount for over 1 trillion without killing the profitability of playing the market that is already a game with more losers than winners, its not easy to increase the rake in a game without simply killing it.
Macron reverted the tax brackets and has the yellowjacket's shitshow on his doorstep because the flee of capital reached the pivotal point where total income of the state declined despise a higher tax bracket.
If Sanders talked about the absolute retreat of the troops, shrink dramaticaly the size of the military industrial complex, end the state-corporate helathcare mess that was created (even if it was socialized medicine), stop guaranteeing student loans to end this bubble madness, to rewrite the tax code to stop super rich people from dodging taxes and that this was going to pay for al lthese things then I would think he is a good candidate, but he is just another "hookers and cocaine for everyone, we will just tax the rich" run of the mill candidate.
Anyway Trump is going to steamroll on 2020, its quite clear that Sanders wont make it out of the primaries and its either Biden or Harris and both of these are polling even with Trump and given the distribution of the electoral college its almost a lock

His policies are fine imo. If it kills off most of wall street trading then this is a good thing, since we all know that this is mostly a parasitic part of the economy. His tax has been supported by various economists (keynes, tobin-the tobin tax was the original idea), because it increases financial stability and makes the parasitic financial part of the economy far less profitable. Keynes himself had a pretty moderate view on finance, it's fine in so far as it doesn't become the core of the economy, making most of its profits off gambling. And yes it would be a great idea to increase rake if professional poker players made up 40% of the economies profits. While the estimates on how much money is made from this tax from some economists of this tax differ drastically, it is at least a step in the right direction.
cancelling the student debt is a gift to students, not bankers who actually make a ton of money off student debt and want to keep putting students in debt because of how much money they make off it. You have a very backwards view of this in general imo. I'm sure if Bernie was just handing out trillion$ gift's to wall street, they would be sure to support his campaign, but they arn't, they hate him with a passion.
yes, bernie could go a lot further with various policies, he's pretty upfront about the fact that he isn't a radical. I think he could become president, we are in unpredictable times.

Perhaps its true that public trading is overall a bad thing , frankly I dont feel qualified enough in finance to be able to make a judgement of this magnitude at all, I remember Bill Perkins tweeting about some important benefits of them I would be delighted to hear a debate about it by people who know what they are talking about, not from somebody with superficial knowledge with an agenda against traders (not implying thats you btw).
That's why I said that I'd like them to go more in depth about it, he is talking about raising 1 trillion from taxing trading, if trading with the new tax isnt profitable he is going to kill trading but he isn't going to get the trillion he expect, I dont feel this policie are really thought through in this way, and its just that "fuck wallstreet" is a good banner for your campaign.
cancelling debt is a gift to both students and banks since you are paying upfront all the debts to the bank with no collection fees no defaults nothing, also announcing that you are gonig to do that creates a massive moral hazard, obviously every fucking bank is going to lend all the money anybody wants for college and colleges are going to create new retarded "radical queer critique of the XIX studies" bullshit and raising tuitions to the roof and when the dust is settled you just created a lot of new banking billionares, if you truly want to take such a stupid measure you shut the fuck about it in campaing and just do it while in power but of course just like "fuck wallstreet" , "Im canceling your debt" is a cool slogan.
Also this is giong to require the biggest "quantitive easing" of history, devaluating the dollar forcing every american to pay for the poor financial decisions of people, irresponsible and immoral, they simply need to stop the exceptions to this specific type of debt that is what created this mess in the first place.

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen
