Yes that is it. You may as well just do what I did today though and order the 4-pack of all the currently released paperbacks in the series for like $20 instead of buying each individual one for $10 or so + shipping. |

Pretty good episode. I guess I'm a little more critical seeing that I just finished Game of Thrones last week. Casting-wise, almost everybody is perfect besides Catelyn. Bitch is too old to play Ned's wife. I also wish the actors / actresses would portray their characters with a little more depth. There's a bunch of little nuances the author put in his book for the characters and we don't get to see them. For instance, when Ned asked about Catelyn's sister and nephew when he heard about Jon Arryn's death. In the book her inner voice says she loves him for asking that. I don't know, maybe the bitch could show some sort of emotion instead of saying they're fine. Yeah, very critical LOL.
Still 8/10 episode. Felt a bit rushed. |

im in agreement with this, i feel as if the first episode created a ton of plot but not much character development. Still a great episode and i hope the characters become deeper as the series progresses |

First episode was nice. I watched it 3 times.
They showed it 3 times in a row on HBO West, then 3 times in a row on HBO east later on. |

Completely agree. I've been side-bitching about the Catelyn casting choice for a while now. Honestly, she shouldn't be more than late 30s/early 40s.
I also agree about the nuances. The beheading for example cut out one of my favorite tiny bits of dialogue about bravery (when Jon and Robb argue about what it means to be brave and Bran asks his dad). However, I'm a little more forgiving since it's only the 1st episode. They've got a LOT to cram into one season. Honestly, a TV series on this book series should be like the Chinese drama "3 kingdoms" and should span years with hundreds of episodes. However, since we're limited by HBO, I could see why they might sacrifice some depth early on to get all the seeds planted. |
