I'm very curious to hear more about your Weidman/Mousasi prediction. Not disagreeing, just interested (don't really feel like I have any idea).

Traditionally it wouldn't seem like a great matchup for him, but I guess you feel trajectories of their respective careers are a bit different at the moment? I thought Weidman looked good up until the KO vs Romero tho...

Hm.. Off-suite socks..

Confidence man, feels like Weidman can't win nowadays. Just like with what happened to Pettis, and Mousasi seems to be the exact opposite

Feels like Weidman is pushed to the edge and last time he was there he smashed the MMA GOAT

Rumble shook Cormeir's brain loose in that last match. Rumble is going to drop him during first 3 rounds and then he's going to blow Bones' coke nose up in July.

How was Weidman pushed to the edge when he fought Anderson Silva?

Weidman was in his prime during that time. It was before his knee surgeries, and before he took a lot of time off to heal up, and he had never been severely hurt in any of his fights, and he had never lost at that point in time.

Don't forget Anderson was still fighting the same way when he fought Weidman, and Weidman expected it. Anderson got clipped while showboating and ran out of space for his feet to keep moving. Their second fight was a fluke, when Anderson broke his leg after getting his kick blocked.

You can say Weidman was doing good in both of his last fights until the very end, but he still got BRUTALLY finished in both of them. Weidman will be fighting in New York again, so he'll probably feel like he needs to be cautious to win this fight so he doesn't let his fans down, as well as his entire career. If he loses this fight, he won't ever fight for the title again at 185 pounds, and he'll be on a 3-fight losing streak and will probably take a year off and move up to 205 pounds.

He was broke as fuck and had his house flooded right before the fight with Silva. It was determining whether he would continue being broke as fuck or not. Pretty sure that put him under a lot of psychological pressure

If Rumble wins, I'd rather see Rumble vs DC3 rather than JBJ vs Whoever, even though that won't happen, cause JBJ sells that PPV better than both of them

Would much rather see Rumble KO Jones than DC3 or pretty much any other fight for that matter.

Why wouldn't u want to see that fight?

Weidman being shook seems silly to me. He was very competitive with Rockhold and Romero up until he made a mistake which cost him the fights. This is the same guy who had 0 fear against Anderson Silva, which seems to me makes him extremely strong mentally. Not sure what people are basing him being shook on other than their own random assumptions. Unless I've missed something, he seems very confident going into this fight. He could have easily fought a guy outside the top 10 but demanded he get a top fighter like Mousasi. Doesn't seem like the actions of a broken man with no confidence.

Mousasi has always had suspect TDD, and Weidman is still one of the best wrestlers in the sport. I think he wrestle fucks Mousasi a good amount of the time.

Also he's looking to be in insane shape for this fight.

Looks much better physically than his last two fights.

Disclaimer: I'm a weidman fan boy and not a huge believer in Mousasi. He's lost everytime he's faced an elite fighter, and I think it's a great style match up for Weidman. Mousasi tends to do poorly against pressure and wrestling, and Weidman is great at both.

Cormier vs AJ 2 is a close.

Obviously Cormier deserves to be the favorite, but since that fight Cormier has had an absolute brutal war with Gus and several major injuries and layoffs. Meanwhile AJ has looked the best he ever has in his career.

I like both guys, but hoping for an AJ win because I really, really wanna see AJ KO Jones. Like that fight way more than Jones vs Cormier 2.

Reminds me of Ronda Rousey in her lead-up to facing Amanda Nunes.

Appearance wise, Ronda was in the best shape of her life.

yeah but those spots are nothing alike, Ronda clashed against the new growing athletes, and Weidman represents the new school much more than Mousasi but this kind of ambiguous comparisons are a silly exercise.

I agree with Stim, but unlike him I dont like Weidman and I like Mousasi in general, but a strong wrestler who can hook is a bad matchup, remember how he got destroyed by Jacare, althought Weidman lacks the violence of Jacares hooks and perhaps Mousasi can be less timid.

Mousasi is a very smart and adaptive fighter, I'm curious to see if he will adopt a different strategy, last time his low volume and high caution of takedowns didnt work at all, and this didnt work for Silva vs Wieman either, he is comfortable pressuring but he didnt look great when Vitor went apeshit for a few seconds, so thats probably the best strat vs weidman, high volume high power but not going too crazy like vitor did obv.

There is good value to be had on DC imo and odds should be a lot wider than current. I mean we already watched this fight a few years ago and other than the early scare for DC it was complete domination for him. AJ might of looked great in his last few outings but we have not learned anything new about him in this fights. He starched all of his opponents with ease while looking absolutely frightening. However that was the case for him before the first DC fight and also even during his stint in WW div. When he is put in tough situations the guy chokes and you can't say he is coming from a very good camp that can improve his grappling so much to close the gap to DC in just a few years. We already saw MJ grappling against Khabib and also Rashad recent performances.

This fight looks very clear for me. If AJ is not able to knock DC out in the first round and a half he is drawing dead. Of course there is very good chance for this to happen with his monstrous power and DC being older, but in general I feel like Cormier should be a clear favorite for this fight and is going to be taking it most of the time.

Weidman - Mousasi is a coin toss for me. Usually the stylistic match up is tough for Mousasi and The Chris should be able to smother him with his wrestling and pressure, however he is coming off 2 brutal defeats while Gegard is on a all time high. His grappling looks really improved since the Jacare fight and all things considered it is tough to have a good idea how this fight is gonna go.

I'm leaning towards Weidman now, ...and I generally like Mousasi more than him, ...but hes at home, a slight underdog, and I cant see exactly what edge Mousasi would have over him particularly.
Unless he is broken or scarred from his last 2 fights, I would favor Weidman here.

I was favoring AJ over Cormier, probably still am...but I could be wrong.
