Not much has changed since the last fight between DC and Rumble, I think there is a lot of value on DC

He had a brutal war with Gus, turned 38, and looked very meh against Anderson. Rumble has looked way better than ever, Plus it looks like he had a really rough cut.

Told you DC was looking rough with his weight cut.

I definitely think some fuckery is afoot. No way he lost 1.2 pounds in like 1 minute lol.

Or, the scale was just off.

Both DC and Rumble missed the 205 pound mark by 1.2 pounds. Rumble wouldn't randomly overcut by 1.2 pounds.

If the scale was off, it'd make sense why both fighters weighed in at weird weights, and why DC was able to be exactly 205 pounds 2-3 minutes later, assuming the scale was properly adjusted.

The scale was fine for all the other fighters. Unless the scale was purposely adjusted to allow DC to make weight.

New York is known for being fishy, just like Texas, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did some shit. However, even if DC missed weight, the fight would still go on and Rumble would still be able to win the title, DC would just be stripped and just be fighting for the win while losing his title.

The fact that the commissioner said the weigh-in rules weren't in the rule book, and only posted on his company's website, it sounds fishy af.

p.s. Pearl Gonzalez is allowed to fight, so we still have 13 fights tomorrow.

Oh brother!! Did you just completely miss the fact that he rested his hands on the towel and probably took 0.5-1.0 pounds that way... so dumb they did not tell him to take his hands off the towel.

edit: nvm guy above me already explained that

My guess is UFC allowed it on purpose. Sucks that they threat Rumble this way. I get that its the main event and all, but cmon what the fuck UFC. Disrespectful towards Rumble, disrespectful towards the fans.

I admit I didn't know about it this trick even though i weigh myself 5 days a week in the gym, just never thought about it. However I had to read about 3 comments under a facebook video to be completely aware of it. Why do they treat their fans as if we re idiots.

Im torn on this weight controversy. There will always be a side of me that believes in protecting the integrity of a game. Allowing a fighter to retain the title after missing the designated fighting weight is clearly against the rules. Definitely isnt fair to Rumble, but is it good for the sport? I/ve been looking forward to this fight since Christmas, its great for the fans. The UFC was in a tough situation, remembering last months PPV lost the main event and then had a snooze fest rematch, this failed cut would further discredit the organization. I understand the new ownerships decision to look the other way and I cant wait to see this fight.

There is no doubt that some fuckery happened, but ultimately I think they made the right decision.

The thing is he had 2 hours to cut that 1.2 pounds. I feel he should have at least tried before insta cheating. Then again him coming back so quickly played into the confusion I think.

All that said I think everyones happy the title fight is still on including Rumble. Unless like someone else said he would still have had the chance to win the title regardless.

Man Weidmans eye is fucked. I know a lot of fighters are on the sauce, but this kinda shows the long term affects of what can happen. I like Romero, but he's obviously juiced to the tits. Kinda shitty having a fucked up face probably for life because the guy you fought was juiced to the gills.

Ariel Helwani mentioned that when he spoke to DC and Rumble, they weren't aware of the 2 extra hours for championship fights. DC probably cheated while thinking he had to act fast. If he knew he had 2 hours extra, he probably wouldn't have returned to the scale 3 minutes later.

And yes, the fight would still be on if DC missed weight, he would just be stripped of the title and only be able to get a win, and not win the belt. Rumble would be able to win the fight and the belt. IIRC, only Matt Lindland missed weight for a UFC title fight and ended up fighting the next day, and got beat by Anderson Silva.

I'll still be picking DC to win, even though he had trouble making the weight.

My final picks:

• Cormier > Johnson (Nothing has changed here; even though Cormier cheated to make weight, he'll still be good enough to beat someone who still only has a punchers chance to win, and is the same person he already beat before; anyone who thinks that Johnson will be able to successfully use the same strategy he used against Phil Davis is dead wrong, as Davis and Cormier are nothing alike in how they fight)
• Weidman > Mousasi (Originally liked Mousasi via decision, but the more I thought about it, the more I see Weidman getting the clinch and Mousasi not being able to do anything; Mousasi said he knows Weidman will try to close the distance and get a TD, and while Mousasi has good TDD [in the center of the cage], I don't think he can do anything if Weidman clinches him and pushes him against the cage and dirty boxes + goes for TDs against the cage; Weidman by decision)
• Calvillo vs. Gonzalez (dunno who to pick since all of the tape on Gonzalez is 2-3 years old, so anyone who picks Calvillo confidently is just doing so because of her UFC debut last month, and not cuz they know anything about Gonzalez's recent improvements; both have similar skill sets, but Calvillo might be the slightly better wrestler while Gonzalez has slightly better striking)
• Alves > Cote (Originally liked Cote a lot here, but switched after thinking more about the match-up; Alves needs to use a lot more leg kicks in this fight while keeping the same boxing strategy; I kinda see Alves winning ITD, but a decision wouldn't surprise me since Cote has only been knocked out 1 time, which was in his last fight)
• Brooks > Oliveira (Brooks via decision, but I'm not counting Oliveira out to get a win via submission)
• Jury > Torre (I expect Jury to get a TKO win at some point, but not sure when since he might feel out R1 and he hasn't fought in 15 months or so)
• Usman > Strickland (After research, Usman by decision; Strickland has good TDD and has been working a lot on it for this camp, but he is flat footed and fights on the outside and is a mid-range output striker, so he will be focused on defending the TD once Usman shoots once)
• Burgos > Rosa (Burgos has the strength, hand + foot speed, power advantage, and good TDD; Rosa isn't athletic and is slow, and fades a little bit as the fight goes on, especially if he can't get the TD; Burgos might get the TKO here)
• Blachowicz > Cummins (Blacho is longer and has better striking; Blacho is known for poor TDD, but he has been training with a Polish wrestling Olympian; Cummins has a notoriously bad chin, but excels against low-mid tier fighters; 1 guy's strategy will dominate and win decisively)
• Green > Emmett (Emmett is the better boxer and has better cardio; Green is taller and not skinny, slightly better wrestler, and he is the hometown fighter; I think a split-decision win for Green)
• Gillespie > Holbrook
• Aldana > Chookagian
• Bibulatov > Lausa

The announcer just said New York is using the new rules now.

They didn't use them for UFC 205.
