supposedly sklansky told her that she should leave the poker world and even commit suicide. he said if she killed herself, that that was the only way he would stop badmouthing her on the internet.

maybe too early, but it's a matter of opinion (of course). depending on how a particular person lived their life determines how they will be viewed by others and thus how they will be talked about after their death. when someone is a thief and con woman, they will probably get slammed once they die because nobody respects them. i didn't think i was being overly cruel because not all people deserve kind words in death.

She's the one who promised anal sex to someone (I think maybe it was Gavin Smith) if she got staked into some donkament but didn't hold up her end of the deal etc. :D
Lots of good stuff about her in 2+2.
She also said she will fly some day - maybe this was her way of doing that.

also who gives a shit if there's one less piece of trash in our world. Very harsh i know but shit if i hated people like her when alive i sure as hell ain't changing my views if they're dead. people who hated on her then now respects her (LOL?) cuz of the death are fucking hypocrites.
Disliking someone or thinking they are a scumbag etc isnt the same thing as wishing them death.
I think her story is very sad, this girl was obv very lost in many ways and she had done alot of really stupid and downright bad things, she apparently did alot of coke and had even prostituted herself at times. But seriously, I dont find her to be evil or despicable as much as i just feel bad for her. She was depressed enough to take her own life and of couse that is always really sad.
I cant say I respected her as a person or anything but I respect her family and friends and I think the suicide is tragic.
I must say alot of people in this thread come off as immature, unempathic and borderline sociopathic wannabe gangster 16-year olds. This dissapoints me because I figure poker players in general are intelligent and have thought alot of things through but I guess I jumped the gun on that one.
I think you are wrong, why does suddenly her being dead should earn our respect.
I agree its a sad story because she lived a very sad and tragic life however she chose to live it that way and she is responsable for it.
The thing is, why when he dies suddenly everything about her becomes sacred... you cant talk bad about her nor make jokes about it... unless 3 months have passed now then we can all laugh at her death... seriously that society rule is fucking retarded, think about it, we made fun of her while she LIVED when she could read our insults and she could be hurt by them, now jokes cant hurt her.
I respect life much more than i respect death... maybe you should too.

It's not a matter of wishing death on someone or whatever. No one "deserves" death. The fact that people openly hate on someone then go hush hush after they die is fucking stupid.
And her killing herself is indeed tragic but fucked up in the sense that she's leaving behind family and friends and having them deal with whatever she left behind. That's a cop out and deserves bashing. A very selfish act imo.
Saki I think you're giving people too much credit but as the same time taking this way too seriously ;p

couldn't agree more. when sonny bono died in a tragic ski accident, jim rome (american sports radio host) was cracking jokes the same day. a lot of people were kinda outraged ("too soon", but some took it all in jest and even fired in some emails of their own. i guess my point is that it's not a cut and dry thing and if you are sensitive about joking about death that doesn't mean you are right and others are "sociopaths"

Hmmm, I agree with some of this but if what's been told about her is true, she was a horrible, horrible person. Maybe there were reasons for why she ended up that way (in fact, I'm sure there were), but she still did some pretty detestable things.
That being said, her story started out in a 'lol what a psycho' way but the longer it went the more it just made me feel really ill. At least I think that's the word I want to use, it was just such a trainwreck.
There were a couple of assassinations here a week or two ago. Same day on Music Idol the judges said about some girl that she has problems with here breathing during singing, and one of the hosts told her not to worry because "she's not the only one with breathing problems these days" and mentioned the killings, was a pretty bizarre joke
My work is of high quality, cheap and fast. Pick only two of those though.
Death is a sombering experience and wake-up call to everyone but I agree with Yomer and Baal that dying doesn't mean we need to give them respect if what they did when they were alive did not warrant any to begin with.
I'm infinitely with Baal and jkpickett on this one.

this is pretty fucking sad
she was a scumbag and a total sociopath when she was alive but nobody wanted her to kill herself. its a shame to see someone kill herself like that, especially since a lot of forums probably had a part in her ultimate decision. this will undoubtedly happen again, and even though she brought a lot of the attention and hatred upon herself, its still shitty to think that a lot of online players had a hand in her suicide. they shoudlnt really feel guilty about it because she deserved their flame posts etc but its still sad imo

lol way to throw around platitudes sir. I dont think we should necessarily respect her and definitely not respect her actions but I do believe she deserves our pity and her family and friends deserve respect atleast to some degree.
The reason theres a "society rule" not to joke about recently deciesed people is because you should let loved ones mourne in peace before you start heartlessly joke around about the person. Whatever, joke away... I just dont find anything funny about her killing herself at all.

heh, ok, ya i was a little bit off in my last post, definitely. and i did just read up on this chick - she was definitely one crazy chick, wow. seriously psycho.
regardless, i find it to be in extremely poor taste to be bashing/celebrating/joking about this girl who obviously had a family that loved her this soon after her death.
i could understand ppl doing this for something like hussein's death, castro's, or some murderer/rapist who got brutally murdered, but man. this was just a super-screwed up in the head chick, whose life (and death) seems to be easy writing material for the desperate journalist whose readers seem to enjoy reading about the life of a girl who knew someone famous.
edit: btw, dont think for a second i give a shit about this girl. in fact, i think she used to be absolutely retarded just from reading some of the stuff she posted on 2+2. but, i still think this is all pretty low.
Agreed. That we should allow parents to mourn their dead children in peace is one of the fundamental moral things that I think everybody can empathise with. I'll insult a dead girl as soon as the next man because quite frankly, I doubt the dead really care. But let a little time pass before you make tasteless jokes, you may not respect the girl but you ought to be able to respect the genuine grief of those who loved her.

I don't know much about her, I've read some stories on 2+2 and here about how she was taking loans, not repaying, being a crazy mental bitch about things...
But you guys who are bashing on her really need to open your eyes a bit here. Firstly, 99% of people who rain fire upon her have never met her in real life. It seems sad to me that you would be so close-minded and instantly judge someone based on a story you read on the internet. I'm not saying she didn't do bad things or whatever, I'm just saying none of you were there to understand the circumstances of all the actions she took. Put yourself in her shoes for a minute: the poker community was probably the entire 'world' in her eyes, and in that regard, seeing 100s of faceless people who have NEVER even met her, condemning her and giving her tonnes of shit would obviously be destructive to her self confidence. In this way, many of you who persist on insulting her even now after her death are indirectly responsible for her suicide.
Now, I'm not saying she's entirely innocent and we're all to blame: Of course she did and said stupid things. But please, as poker players I'd hope you are intelligent enough to realize the door swings both ways, and what occurred here (over a period of years) is a positive feedback cycle in which both parties just kept adding more fuel to the fire. Please have the fortitude to see that her suicide is, in a way, a call from her to all of us to say 'look what you drove me to do'. I know many of you reading that previous sentence will say 'wtf I never drove her to suicide', 'suicide is the wrong decision', etc. BUT once again, have the mental capacity to see that not everyone makes the right decisions (Brandy is clearly a person with a history of making very POOR decisions). Regardless of whether she did or didn't choose suicide, our actions as a community, those people she interacted with on a personal level, AND her own poor decisions all impacted on her final decision to take her life, so show a bit of maturity and think perhaps it's not ok to continue piling shit onto this person who you most likely never had the privilege of meeting for yourself in real life.
I use the world privilege deliberately, hopefully you'll stop and think for a while about WHY I choose that word and what it could possibly mean. Then this post will make a bit more sense.

she stole EVERYTHING from Brandons house. He did nothing but try and help her and she stole everything he owned. literally emptied his house of his possessions and sold them all.
thats just the incident that was publicised in the poker community - it wasnt out of character for her to do that so she would have done that to people since she was 18.
she scarred people with her actions when she was alive and then she took the cowards way out leaving her family to grieve in the wake of her destruction.

When a person dies the truth lies in the middle of the worst thing being said about her and the best thing said about her.
Thou it seems noone here said anything positive but we didn't know her,we only know what other people wrote about here and therefor making our assumptions on her character, one thing I do know and I believe the rest of you aswell do,is that Slansky is a fucking dipshit and should get shot down.
So she had some head issues and did some harsh things,no reason for a bunch of people go apeshit all over her on the internet.

Seventh Circle
This circle houses the violent. Its entry is guarded by the Minotaur, and it is divided into three rings:
Middle ring: In this ring are the suicides, who are transformed into gnarled thorny bushes and trees. They are torn at by the Harpies. Unique among the dead, the suicides will not be bodily resurrected after the final judgment, having given their bodies away through suicide. Instead they will maintain their bushy form, with their own corpses hanging from the limbs. Dante breaks a twig off of one of the bushes and hears the tale of Pier delle Vigne, who committed suicide after falling out of favor with Emperor Frederick II. The other residents of this ring are the profligates, who destroyed their lives by destroying the means by which life is sustained (i.e. money and property). They are perpetually chased by ferocious dogs through the thorny undergrowth. (Canto XIII) The trees are a metaphor; in life the only way of the relief of suffering was through pain (i.e. suicide) and in Hell, the only form of relief of the suffering is through pain (breaking of the limbs to bleed).
She should have read Dantes Inferno first.... sounds worse than Sklansky dissing you online.

He should have just dumped her and move on and not whine on the forum, not like Brandy was the only gold digger out there type of woman. She had a lot of very deep psychological troubles and she needed medical care, her suicide and her actions in the past were a clear sign she needed help, and there's no acceptable time frame to say bad stuff about her but chosing to say them right after she passed away is pretty low imo. But i know people are not the same on the boards than they are irl, people just try to act badass and say shit just to say:"Hey look, i'm smarter than you !", now you'd never think about going at her funeral and say:"lol the bitch was a psycho !" do ya ?

making fun on a public internet forums isn't going to get in the way of a family's mourning let alone bother them in any way that's significant. or at least i hope not.
I don't think anyone is exactly "celebrating" but I definitely won't lose any sleep over this... or give it any more thought than it needs.
respect her grieving family? sure.
Am I happy someone died? fuck no
still despise her? most definitely.
still gonna talk shit about her? absolutely.
Remenber the Porsche girl ? Her family got sent the pictures of her mutilated body, not to mention the large diffusion and advertising she got all over the net, just like Hawbaker. What about you fucking immature mother fuckers pos let her rest in peace now ? No matter what she did while she was alive, she didn't kill anyone or do something terrible so stop badmouthing her right after she died classless pricks.
talking shit and fucking with their family after their family member has died is ALOT different. but obv that's all the same to you.
How is it different ? Everybody can access these pages and more than that we know some of her family do since they posted on 2+2 and are aware of what's going on. I wonder why i have to explain why one should not say shit about someone who just died this is un-fucking real. Whatever do what you want to do, im done trying to explain this -_-
Odds are exactly 50%, either happens or it doesnt

heh, ok, ya i was a little bit off in my last post, definitely. and i did just read up on this chick - she was definitely one crazy chick, wow. seriously psycho.
regardless, i find it to be in extremely poor taste to be bashing/celebrating/joking about this girl who obviously had a family that loved her this soon after her death.
i could understand ppl doing this for something like hussein's death, castro's, or some murderer/rapist who got brutally murdered, but man. this was just a super-screwed up in the head chick, whose life (and death) seems to be easy writing material for the desperate journalist whose readers seem to enjoy reading about the life of a girl who knew someone famous.
edit: btw, dont think for a second i give a shit about this girl. in fact, i think she used to be absolutely retarded just from reading some of the stuff she posted on 2+2. but, i still think this is all pretty low.
Agreed. That we should allow parents to mourn their dead children in peace is one of the fundamental moral things that I think everybody can empathise with. I'll insult a dead girl as soon as the next man because quite frankly, I doubt the dead really care. But let a little time pass before you make tasteless jokes, you may not respect the girl but you ought to be able to respect the genuine grief of those who loved her.
if i off myself anytime soon i give you guys full permission to flame away b/c my mother/father/brother/etc. won't be coming here in their time of mourning.

they even put out a video of her giving head which surely contributed to her suicide.

This thread is pretty heartless. Even if she does deserve being flamed post-mortem and your perfectly justified to do so, does it really hurt you that much if you give her family some rest?
Its not a question of whether you have the right to say what you wish - its a matter of decency and being able to let things go.

Ban skalansky from life and I that's sad to see her go but it's not really suprising imo.
She seemed like a gypsy and she was a cleptomaniac. She had an apartment that brandon guy got her and she stole everything from it (even the toilet seat, and the door of the kitchen cabinet doors, who the fuck does that). I mean it's sad to here her go because wishing death on anyone is pretty shitty fucked up in general but she did bring on some of these problems to herself.

FUCK THAT!, why when they are gone... she is fucking dead nothing can change that nor hurt her nor make her happy she is dead.
Oh and in 3 months can we make fun of her... i mean its not "too soon" we can laugh at Steve Irwon but god forbid we did that just when he died, fuck that hypocritical bullshit

no one in this thread, whether their response is one of respect or disrespect is helping anyone and theres nothing positive to what anyone posting here is doing.
classless responses in a thread about a girl who lived a classless life seem quite appropriate to me.
