- During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dana White officially stated that the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov would be for official lightweight championship belt, not the interim title, as long as both fighters remained healthy and made weight.
- Mairbek Taisumov was expected to face Evan Dunham at the event. However, Taisumov was removed from the fight on March 9 for alleged visa issues, restricting his travel. Olivier Aubin-Mercier replaced Taisumov on March 11.

Didn't he also say that McGregor isn't losing his title either? :D So the champion is the champion but not really the champion

snap city gon take dis
kebabs great but has been beating cans except for pre prime-RDA, who's he beat? barboza and that forgettable striker with zero ground game. trujilo was able to last well but just wasn't skilled enough to pose a threat. El Cucuy only looks vulnerable in ALL his fights, but has an uncanny way of knowing how to win.
As long as Tony don't wave that 10th planet bravo flag and induce a pure ground contest when the bell rings, he's going to take khabib to gas city and beat him in the deep rounds

To stop Khabib you need to KO him. Otherwise Nurmageddon will happen.
I like both fighters but i think Khabib will take it to the ground and go to work.

Hell no, you dont stop wrestling with KOs in fact that is exactly how many strikers have lost to grapplers in the past planting their feet and swinging hard and then get taken down, you defeat a wrestler by staying light on your feet and many other tools like angling out, stiff arming, not overreacting to their shitty punches/feints.
Khabib needs to take him down early and beat him up and break him or a sweaty Tony with his funk rolls escapes, and his resless uncommited pit-pat boxing is going to snowball and Khabib is going to collapse.

At this point, I don't really think anyone can keep his distance with Khabib. He'll definitely put you down, it's just a matter of time. Might as well take the riskier approach and try to power load extend some hard shots and try to knock him out.
Either way I hope Khabib wins and McGregor comes back to fight him. It would likely be the most anticipated match-up in the UFC with their current roster and would attract shitload of people thus a major payout - might be worth it for McGregor, if they give him like 5 Milly+

Khabib's a well deserved favorite. Haven't seen his level of takedowns and top control before. Something about going five with Tony though makes me not want to pick him though. After making Edson look like a child, I thought it was a little telling that Khabib couldn't get a takedown automatically in the third. Yeah Edson has a lot of heart but I think Khabib gassed a bit and not much was made of it because of how dominant he was before and Edson was already done on offense so he couldn't make Khabib pay. Disregarding standup early really because I don't think Tony can really catch Khabib significantly on the way in...I think if Tony can do some damage to Khabib from the bottom and survive the inevitable smothering, there'll be some good chances later on to do some work on a gassed Khabib
No idea what to think off the JJ/Rose rematch

I don't think Khabib is a big draw for non-ufc fans.

Khabib > Ferguson
I am a big Tony Ferguson Fan since he is incredible well rounded.
He has really good head movement , good footwork , good boxing (very unconventional hitting hard from akward angles) he has decent wrestling and very good Jiu Jitsu.
He is one of the very few fighters left who can still submit top level opponents from his back .
Even before he won TUF i realized that this guy is very hard to beat.
He doesnt have any real weakness
He is just good // pretty good at everything in MMA
Khabib on the other hand is not just good ... he is probably the best MMA-Wrestler there has ever been. (Cormier and Valasquez come close)
In fact id say what Messi is in football Khabib is in Wrestling for MMA.
The way he pressures people from the top is out of this world.
Its just on another level compared to anybody else in this world
U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

I went back and rewatched the fight of Ferguson vs Barboza as many people refer to it. Seems that they forget that Barboza took the fight on short notice and got kicked in the head illegally at the beginning of the first round which tbh seems like being close to a knockout. No way he completely shakes it off.
Anyway the fight continued and it ended up being finished by Ferguson on the ground, but there was so much shit that happened prior to that plus people call Ferguson a beast, when Khabib is literally a fucking beast for that division, if he gets on top of him fast enough Ferguson is gonna have a looooot of trouble, he wont be able to do his weird TD attempts against Khabib either.
Then again Ferguson fight just weird enough that he might be able to break Khabib from different angles as long as he manages to keep his distance long enough. This fight is gonna be so interesting, cant wait.

He has better top control than Cain/Cormier but he doesnt have the transitions or striking they do, Khabib is a new Ronda that just walks down opponents with awkward haymakers with his chin on the air hoping for a clinch.
Khabib will eventually get exposed, I'm not sure if Tony is the man to do it since he relies on funk rolls and offence from his back against wrestlers and that might not be enough against a wrestler of Khabib's level, but I think a range especialist like Conor would easily beat Khabib

I like Tony in this fight as well.
I think that even if Khabib does get Tony down, Tony is able to scramble + defend + attack off his back + able to stand up, which means Khabib will keep wasting energy and get tired at some point, then Tony will turn it up and throw a lot of strikes that will cause Khabib to back up and not be able to handle the pressure.

If I remember correctly Connor still had lingering issues with his knee and I think he is a very different wrestler than Khabib, Mendez is much faster and has better striking, but is way smaller so I think Khabib would have a harder time taking Conor down, but obviously is far more dangerous than Mendez if he manages to take a hold of Conor.
Anyway that fight would be boring, either Conor gets murdered by GnP and gasses if its not stopped or he just plays very evasive and picks Khabib which could be fun to watch but not remotely as much as watching the sick fight Tony vs Conor would be, so I hope Tony wins

Yeah, let's not mention the fact that Mendes took the fight on like 2 weeks notice with no conditioning/camp. He probably had to cut close to 20 pounds during that short period of time.

... Conor either wins with the first punch (ok, maybe first round to be fair) or I cannot see him win? He's not got better Cardio than Khabib, and he isn't gonna stay on his feet. I can totally see him winning because of how accurate and dangerous he is in the first round and as you say, Khabib isn't exactly the soundest defensively, but it has to be way early or he's got like 0 chance.
EDIT: Yeah basically what your second post said I want Khabib to beat both of them tho because I like him.
Hm.. Off-suite socks..

I'm pretty sure chances of Conor coming back are dim. Mendes fight is a pretty bad example, it's very likely that Mendes would've completely obliterated him if he had a proper camp prior to that fight.
I've also started to appreciate strategic, smart matches so I don't mind watching Conor trying to keep Khabib away for 25miinutes, just like I'll enjoy Ferguson doing the same.
tony out, holloway in vs khabib for 155 title... many preople reporting on twitter. first i thought april fools...

Interesting that this news was released on April 1st/fools.
At this point i would be shocked if it was a joke.. there is just no way dana and ariel doing something together these days + khabibs posts on social media...
On the other hand im super excited for the holloway fight, so im fine with it.
Post Conor-Bless Holloway is game as fuck, probably as much as Tony is and I love that he's the replacement. He's tall at 5'11 but has that Trex reach. JJ vs Thug Rose will probably be a trilogy
Dana White said he won't ever try to rebook Ferguson vs Khabib as this is the 4th time the fight is canceled. Then again if Conor doesn't return and Khabib wins, its not like he's gonna have any other option imo .. perhaps they could throw in Brian Ortega for the title in the mean time
Apparently Khabib and his team surrounded Artem and were shit talking Conor asking him where he is.. so that was his response. What a moron

Michael Chiesa got hit with tiny bits of glass in the face. His fight is currently 50/50 at the moment...
Lobov vs. Caceres has been cancelled due to the incident with Conor. We're down to 12 fights now.
Also, "some people were in the bus and were shaken up when Conor and his boys attacked it, and Rose Namajunas was one of the people shaken up. She took some time to relax and says she's fine now."
Rose better get her lesbian game face on, and not fuck me over on Saturday. Bitch better come out swinging like last time.
It feels like just yesterday that Conor was talking about the downfall of Jon Jones... :D

At this point there is no warrant for him, they just want to bring him in for questioning, meaning no mugshot. Thats actually ridiculous as there are videos of him attacking the bus. If it was any other guy he'd be arrested on the spot.

today it would seem stupid, but after the dust settles and the lawsuits taken care off, i think conor will make an announcement that he will fight kebab in russia.
creating drama is actually a good marketing tool for mma. conor and dana played this one well and leveled everyone pretty pretty good.

From 13 fights to 10 fights in 1 day, and all three were cancelled due to one person.
It sucks in the sense that we lost 3 fights, which means less entertainment and DraftKings isn't worth as much this week since there are 10 fights and thus a lot of ties for 1st place. On the other hand, the 3 cancelled fights were the least entertaining fights on the card (Lobov vs. Caceres, Borg vs. Moreno, Chiesa vs. Pettis). All of those fights looked terrible on paper.
Glad my only bet is on Rose. Although, I hope she isn't still "shaken up" from what Conor did, and still fights like she did last time she beat JJ's ass.
This shit smells fake as fuck. ANYTHING that involves CONOR and DANA after that mayweather fight is suspect imo. If there's anything that boxing match taught me is to never trust in anything those two say lol. Conor will get 3 months at worst in jail, perfect excuse to fight Floyd and avoid defending the belt. If he loses the belt it's ok as long as he makes thrice the amount fighting FLoyd in the cage
McGregor is gonna get sued by multiple people on top of the standard prosecution he will face, he probably won't go to jail though. He will get penalized by the sports commission, whichever is in charge of that shit and he will certainly get suspended for a long period - at least 1-2 years. Dana White is not the kind of dude that would put other fighters health at risk for his own profit, McGregor is most likely out of the organization and he should be, thought I doubt Dana is the one in charge of that and there're probably other money seeking investors which wouldn't want to kick him out.
Best case scenario you're looking at, at least 2 more years of Conor not fighting due to court and penalties

He tweeted few hours earlier that the glass didn't hit him and that he was fine, he deleted the tweet. Just looking for the lawsuit it seems.
Imagine glass shrapnel rolling around underneath your eyelids for a couple of hours and tell me if you think you'd feel the same before and after those couple of hours.

Fuck that, I want to see him fight too but considering what he's done I'd prefer if he vanishes out of the face of this sport. Its one thing to be a clown in front of the media, quite other to actually hurt other people cause you're a fucking moron. If it were up to me, I'd just ban him for life, that way at least he gets to suffer and have the chance to rethink his behaviour and be productive in another way. Otherwise he'd come out clean even if he has to pay a few million in damages.
He should learn that he's not better than other people. He might've succeeded in many areas compared to 99.9% of the population on this planet, but he still has the same obligations and rights. If a random dude did this he d definitely get some jail time, in this case I'm guessing he wont just because he is Conor McGregor, which is sad, people like him should be made an example of.
On the bright side at least they didn't let Pettis fight w Khabib... he lost vs Eddie Alvarez (which was a dumb decision by judges as he won that fight imo) but it only showed that he's kind of idealess vs good wrestlers and Khabib would probably slaughter him
Also how in the fuck does a featherweight fails to make lightweight with many days to prepare?
Apparently, Max Holloway's normal weight is around 175ish lbs so he had to cut almost 8kg in 6 days, which I'm guessing is tough for pretty much anyone. Which brings the question why the fuck does he fight at such a low weight class.. his camp originally asked for a welterweight fight w Khabib
Also this idea khabib started all of this... if the reports a re correct lobov talked shit about khabib in an interview.

He could've just done the adult thing - went and talked to Dana about it as Khabib acted unprofessionally instead of gathering a mob and attacking people that have nothing to do with this shit. Obviously explain to Dana that if he doesnt handle it, he ll just have a confrontation with Khabib. I dont see how thats not the first thing he thinks of. Then again he gets hit in the head for a living. Literally, watch his fights all he does is absorb hits in the face. I'm guessing the only reason he hasn't been cut from the promotion is because of Conor
Al Iaquinta isn't even trying to say he has a chance. Dude practically is saying he took the fight to get beat up for 25 minutes for a million dollars. This card is not even worth an illegal stream unless youre a kabibi fan who enjoys watching him pummeling cans to a decision. This whole staged ass big-drama-show is a setup for a giant card with conor and kabib. Dana is getting worse and worse with his lying, resting face.
michael chiesa was more injured here than the "lacerations in the face" description which looked more like an amateur itsy-bitsy blade cut in the WWE.
Rose wasn't injured as reports were conflicting, Conor was sorry, media blowing up about it for days but having caveats trying to justify why Conor did this.
Borg was shook for some unknown reason lol

The athletic comission penalties is what scares me I hope he doesn't get years cuz I want to watch him fight, but I do hope the UFC and the fighters sue him for damages and he loses millions, he is a disgrace
no way the UFC sues him, they still need him very badly, business is shit right now
Chiesa about to get his biggest paycheck to date :D
This makes no sense; the more the UFC or anyone else can sue Connor for, the more money Connor loses, and the more he is incentivized to fight again to get that money back. It isn't like he can get mad at the UFC and just go fight somewhere else. He is under contract for one, and even if he wasn't the UFC really is the only show in town (hey would make far less fighting for Bellator).

Joe Lauzon gasses faster and faster in every fight I see of him, and he never changes his style.

lucky you're laughable trying to justify Conor s behaviour and so is Diaz and everyone else trying to do the same
but wouldn't you do the same?
it's more laughable to be a gay ass pussy in real life. period.

Moicano 1-0 (It seemed like Kattar was going to win R1 early, but his pure boxing versus muay thai isn't working out to well, especially since Moicano is keeping Kattar on the outside with kicks. Kattar is having to lunge inside, and is missing.)
Moicano 2-0 (Very clear round. So many leg kicks landed, followed by wild strikes. Kattar had nothing for Moicano this round.)
Moicano 3-0 (Moicano landed whatever he wanted. Kattar started fast for the first 10 seconds, then did nothing else for the rest of the round.)

R1: JJ (I thought JJ landed more volume, but not a big difference. Rose ended the round with 2 nice punches when they flurried)
R2: Rose (semi clear, definitely not JJ's round)
R3: JJ (Rose was inactive this round, while JJ landed a lot of leg kicks)
R4: JJ? (Close round since both ladies weren't as active when compared to previous rounds. Either the judges like the leg kicks landed during the last 1.5 minutes of the round by JJ, or they like Rose's head strikes that landed during the last 1 minute of the round.)
R5: Rose (Rose started the first 2 minutes off landed some hard head strikes, while JJ started landing light punches and leg kicks during the next 2 minutes. Last 1 minute of the round was close.)
I think it's a split-decision.

I leaned toward Joanna winning the decision.
49-46 across the board is a bad decision, and disrespectful, imo.
Edit: In terms of damage, Rose did most of the damage, while Joanna looked like she got beat bad.
Edit: This reminded me of the Condit vs. Lawler fight. Lawler landed the heavier punches (obviously), but Condit landed way more strikes and I thought he clearly won.

i have a feeling kabib basically let the fight play out standing in the later rounds, because if he wanted to he would push iaquinta against the fence and easily win a boring fight

who kebab? LOL. he not worthy of GSP. if he got out of bus, maybe.
seeing how he sucked i want nate or nick versus kebab. kebab is ronda rousey of mma men's division.
