I've already listened to some of that video when it first came out and I didn't know who D'Agostino was. I see no reason to listen to it again since I don't remember anything valuable from it and he's not an authority on nutrition.

The other thing is that I can afford to not listen to it. I'm not the one who's ignoring the scientific consensus and putting myself into danger with poor dietary choices. I've studied nutrition for years and have a good idea of what I'm doing. I'll be alright if I don't click on your videos, no offense. You, however, are a white belt in nutrition. And that's fine. We all start somewhere. The important thing when we're white belts on a subject is that we stay humble and treat the subject with openness and respect, otherwise we don't learn and we don't progress. It's only your loss if you turn down the information that you get from more knowledgeable people because you want to protect your beliefs. This applies to everyone though, not just beginners. We all tend towards confirmation bias so it's important to diversify our sources of information.

You might argue that I don't follow my own advice because I don't come off as humble. However, I've had to re-examine my beliefs many times before I got here. I've gone into this at length in this thread already. I was open about my humbling experiences. I've had to admit I was wrong on quite a few things. If I don't come off as humble now it's just that I have a low tolerance for bullshit, i.e. bad/destructive advice after years of hearing it over and over again. Calling bullshit on something isn't necessarily hubris.

I know what it is like to be in the throes of a life changing diet. 45 kg is impressive. Be happy! A good portion of this thread was me trying to argue the paleo/keto way of life. It was all gravy until my blood work started coming back pretty bad. I am one of the lucky ones. If it isn't high cholesterol and triglycerides it's colon cancer at age 50. I know I felt like a man (and healthy) when I ate a large grass fed ribeye and broccoli but steak is not healthy. Neither is adding tons of butter or olive oil to the broccoli or butter to my coffee for fuck's sake. Butter in coffee is not healthy. MCT oil is a snake oil. I remember being at camp and eating grass fed jerkey for 3 days. It felt like I was really accomplishing something. I was in it. I was better off fasting or like I did the next camp just bringing my own vegetable stews.

You gotta figure something out. Keto isn't sustainable and if you go back to straight western diet the kgs will come back. Before you know it you start eating fried food. You get drawn into the high density stuff. The burgers, the spaghetti and meatballs, the ice cream. It is easier to eat these foods and I get addicted. These days I eat pretty much solely out of convenience. Already made pastries for breakfast, sub sandwich for lunch, pizza at work for dinner. It is actually not as bad as eating solely for pleasure but it is not great. It is more easy to monitor calories eating roughly the same things each day and it is only when I start eating out at restaurants or cookouts that I can really start piling it on.

The second paragraph almost reads like a reason to stick to keto/paleo. I actually think it is easier to keep weight off with one of these diets but am convinced that it will lead to inflammation, heart disease, and cancers at faster rates. I mean who really wants to eat a whole food, plant based diet if you aren't already eating one or have grave consequences if you don't. It is true that the food becomes tasty after a while but after eating a burger and fries with a milkshake it is just not going to be desirable. That is a bummer.

Good luck! I bet it feels like a case of if it isn't broke don't fix it with the keto diet and I think in the grand scheme of things you'll survive eating meats and low-carb vegetables. Do I really care about living to 90 or 100? I perhaps want some quality of life in my 60s into my 70s but after that who really cares? What if it were relatively simple to change my diet and I could get quality of life at 80 or even 90? These are all things I think about. I don't want to blow my brains out at 50 or pull some stunt like the guy in Las Vegas. I may be capable of that and that is a bit scary.

If you have the discipline to do what you are doing you have the discipline to really thrive on a whole food, plant based diet. I always felt really great on WFPB and all my health markers were quite good. Phenomenal really. It is the ideal way to eat.

I wonder if you would take that man in the video semen samples and compare it to a masai that drinks blood, raw milk and see what the difference would be. Vegans like to point out that the big scary dairy and meat industry as some sort of big influence, what about the chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry? and their oils and antibiotics the answer to everything. Dairy that has been pasteurized is just a dead product and causes inflammation that is why by law you have to destroy it first. They also don't have to worry about their cows being sick and unhealthy because the milk will just be cooked anyway so you are drinking a big pus bomb full of antibiotics and no vitamin d k2 etc. and fed off gmo corn don't drink that shit.

Better off fasting? fuck that shit just starving yourself only modern humans think starving yourself is healthy. You should be thankful that you got fat because all of the toxic food you ate you were protected by your layer of fat so the toxins didn't go in your cells instead. A plump woman is the sexiest woman and was in human history for a reason skinny vegan girls are unfertile and disgusting.

And don't eat bacon VDR that shit is processed and don't overcook your meat unless its a stew also eat it raw.

Well, when I dont fast I eat A TON of vegetables and salads now.. When people think low carb they probably dont think about how I eat right now... Maybe its not as far off what you eat as you would think. I do eat a lot of healthy fats also.

I think only a bad constructed diet will lead to inflammation, heart disease, most of the cancers. Also eating a lot of sugars will increase the risk for those diseases. I doubt it will happen for me, my diet is too strong

Well Atkins was a high protein diet.

So a lot of people that did it simply had too much protein (this is also possible). Some amino acids burns like sugar. And it would not work.

Also Atkins never spoke about fasting. Fasting is great in combination with a low carb and/or high vegetable high salad eating plan. And it is extremly effecive to help poor health.

Acctually fasting is a very old, but a forgotten strategy.

Back in the days "everyone" did fasting. Socrates wanted his students to be in a fasted state in his classroom so they would learn better. All the major religions suggests fasting. When you read old litterature about health fasting is mentioned all over the place...

I guess the reason it is not big in 2017 is because.... who makes money on it ? What products is there to sell ? MAYBE you could sell a book... but no shakes, no bars, no cooking books.... The only one that makes money on it would be me, so there is no incentives for big industries to push itt

Oh yea you are right but they are still in the civilization era of humanity. Some heavy hitters but if you would do it in a natural way from starvation you would also have huge feast days so you would regain the nutrients that way.

That sounds dangerous man haven't you lost 45kg already how much did you weigh? Don't worry about having too much fat Europeans are supposed to have some to protect from cold, just keep the window open and eat as much as you want I guess I can't relate since I was always thin but you sound like you might be taking this too far. The danger is that you are depleting your probably already bad reserves of vitamins and minerals. I would suggest eating extremely nutrient dense food now after you have done this all from healthy organic animals, organs, raw milk and cream (if you can get it if not dont eat dairy), raw eggs, seafood. Apparently some norwegian cheese called jarl something was highest in k2 in the world but I can't handle cheese my body detoxes it out of my fucking skin and I get spots haven't tried raw though.

That is also why how in the fuck can you be a IF vegan? you don't eat anything for 16 hours and then you eat 100g of fiber which takes forever to eat at least 2 hours or do you just eat a shit ton of coconut oil, avocadoes and nuts I guess still would be very hard for me at least.

Fiber is not "harder to digest", it's not digestible by the human body...

Yes I know I mean it makes you feel full/bloated even if it's not that many calories at least for me. Actually that is pretty much hard to digest when it's not digestible. Overcooked meat is also hard to digest while raw you don't even feel it.

Another thing you get backward. Cooking meat makes it more digestible and easier to extract calories and nutrients from. It's also safer. There is no good reason to eat raw meat unless you're starving to death. I know it makes you feel manly but it's actually unbelievably dumb.
