7 out of 11 underdogs won tonight, so don't feel bad. If Werdum didn't win, I would've lost several units myself cuz Cain wasn't gonna finish that fight u2.5 rounds after he gassed in round 1 going for the big kill.
Also, the only guy who went past round 1 and didn't gas was Yair. Kelvin wasn't gassed, but he slowed down his pace in round 2. High altitude raped everyone.

valsquez has been in mexico for 2 weeks... i doubt the altitude had much to do with how he performed. |

Velasquez being in Mexico City for only 2 weeks is exactly the problem. Cain said so, Dana White said so, and Werdum said so. All of them mentioned it during the post-fight press conference that's currently going on right now: http://www.ufc.tv/video/ufc-188-post-fight-press-conference
Werdum fought in Mexico City before, and he was in Mexico a lot doing various things before this fight, not to mention Werdum trained for 40 days in a higher location in Mexico, so Mexico City wasn't that bad compared to where he trained at. |

I cant think of a HW more relaxed than Werdum he actually looks sloppy because of it |
Werdum didnt deliberatly relax for this fight, he always fights like that he is so loose he is usually sloppy.
Im starting to think that A.K.A is actually retarded as many claim, why the fuck didnt they bring Cain to mexico city to train much earlier? 2km of altitude is not a joke, it was crystal clear that Cain was not prepared for that altitude, Im happy with my assumptions.
I still believe the under 2.5 or KO bets were terrible, the only reason it happened was because Cain unexpectedly gassed hardcore |

You greatly underestimate the impact of altitude, you should train in a city of over 2km of altitude and see it for yourself, you will be gasping for air in your warm-up
Cain fought very stupidly, he didnt gauge his cardio properly so he outpaced himself and mostly striking where werdum could peddle back and conserve energy instead of wrestling him more against the cage forcing him to spend an alike amount of energy |

Shocked by this fight. Werdum was ready against the cage in the clinch and the pressure. Great fight for him. |

What I don't understand is why don't better fighters train at high altitudes overall as it would improve their cardio either way... They ll go with a rematch in LV or something im sure |

Altitude for sure had some impact on the fight, but Werdum was doing really well even in the beginning. I thought that Cain was going to destroy him when he pins him to the cage, but Werdum did really well there able to grab the clinch, land knees and strikes and stay composed. He used his bigger frame very well to tire out Cain and the progress in his striking in the last few years is amazing. |

Yay, put a small $5 bet on Werdum at + 325 simply because I saw him winning more than 1/4 of the time.
For some reason, I can't remember why, I have Werdum tagged as a smart fighter in my mind. He's big, very skilled, can take damage, confident, experienced, and possibly smarter than most of his opponents.
When I think of Cain I just think "beast", strong and relentless.
Enough of my fish analysis, but anyone can be beaten in the world of MMA, it's hard to be on your A game for years in a row. |

Only time I think I ever cheered as hard over a victory is the Weidman over Silva wins.
Werdum is the fucking man and I hope he can keep the title. |

Both Cain and Werdum have 77 inch reaches, but Werdum clearly had a few extra inches on his punches; there were many times when Cain was in range of being hit while Werdum was just out of range. I was a little fucked up while watching so I don't remember if it was more because of FW's stance or because maybe Cain has wide shoulders and shorter arms, but those punches added up fast. Also Cain seemed to ignore defense until the 3rd round when he already had a lot taken out of him. Probably a good wake up call for him.
Cain didn't look too much different than the JDS fight. There were a few reasons he wasn't able to succeed here like he was in those one sided beatdowns. For one, the altitude slowed both fighters a bit, and Werdum has much better cardio than JDS. For two, Werdum is a better clinch fighter than JDS, so he was able to mount some offense in both exit strikes and knees from the clinch while JDS basically just defended takedowns and got punched in the head. And third, Werdum seems to have those really nice long punches while JDS throws tons of hooks/uppercuts, so Cain was out of range of Werdum while he was in range of JDS. Also think the cut changed the fight a lot; blood coming into his eye reducing vision, more strikes start to land, downward spiral. Hats off to werdum, really great job by him. Think a rematch in vegas would be about even money
Really great and brutal fight, but I hope they don't do an immediate rematch and instead do Cain vs Stipe and Werdum vs JDS 2. Immediate rematch would be great also, but think it bottlenecks the HW division a bit more. |

Thank you Daut for someone to agree with me. I didn't think cain looked different; just wasn't facing the punching bag JDS. |
