Set aside the geopolitical aspect of May 20th. Take a look at this:
On May 20th, the Earth, Moon, Sun, Jupiter and The Pleiades Constellation will align. Why is that important? Because recent discoveries show that alignments cause earthquakes. Mensur Omerbashich wrote a scientific paper on this called "Astronomical Alignments as the cause of ~M6+ Seismicity". After he put that paper online he was harrased and the paper disappeared for a while and then resurfaced again. It was probably a year ago from now. He emphasizes that when the Moon or Sun are part of the alignment, the earthquake is stronger. I guess it's due to the closeness of the Moon and the massive impact of the Sun on Earth. I mean, even not so big solar flares make an impact on Earth so I guess when it's aligned with different objects it starts going up a gear or two. Here are some of the alignments in the paper:
