The site lost a ton of traffic, including very active posters, after The Black Friday. Our international site was heavily focused on American traffic, and out of it a lot of people still visit, but as they can't play, number of hands posted dropped a lot.
Believe me, we are doing a ton of work, but this is really hard since whole poker market is taking a deep dive.

I completely disagree and in my opinion it's right the opposite - there was way too much freedom, to the point where most of advices given were utterly useless and pure trolling, which scares newcomers from becoming part of the community.

I can't play poker anymore but I still browse LP out of habit since BF. Hopefully poker in the US comes back again someday and I can participate again. It also helps that I'm here from TL.. I'm sure alot of people who found LP through TL are still here.

Meh it's just part of the cycle. Like 1.5 years ago this site was shit. It made a rebound for awhile and got pretty fucked on black friday. On a side note, it's quite ironic how people don't understand how poker is good for the global economy.

- After Black Friday, I remember a couple people making blogs saying they were leaving the site just cuz poker is dead, I was kind of sad, not cuz they were leaving, but that all they came to this site for was poker related stuff. Some just stopped posting altogether.
- The amount of active users has picked up a bit after the dry spell brought on by Black Friday, I look at the Users/Active numbers at the top right every time I visit the site.
- It would be nice if more people contributed to the site, whether it's talking about sports, music, movies, chicks you boned, vacations you went to or are going to, etc.
If you don't think your thread/blog will be popular, just make it anyway.
I make MMA threads cuz I'm gonna follow/watch the MMA events anyway, so if anyone else is gonna watch it too then the thread is useful, if not, then I don't care. I've made plenty of MMA threads about small leagues that nobody here gave a shit about (Shark Fights, Legacy Fighting, Maximum Fighting, OneFC, etc), but I still watched the event.

tutz, i do not know if you are fishing for compliments or what. i do not care. personally, i find you annoying at times but definitely like you. i have no idea of the story of why you were banned or when but if naz banned you i do not think you have much of an argument here. personally, i think the mods do a pretty damn good job. you can say i'm biased b/c i'm a greenstar but they have closed stupid threads of mine in the past, deleted poor derails, and definitely improve the quality of this site.
As others have said, the reason is mostly black friday/state of the market. Personally, I have not even played a hand of poker since Black Friday. I have been around the block irt poker so on occasion will chime in on more general stuff if I feel I can add some value but I am a lot more busy now and the traffic is a lot less now so I just check up here and there to see how LP is doing. A lot of it is trolling or whining or stuff I am just not that interested in.
The second thing is I think not only are a lot of people not playing as much poker anymore, a lot of the core group are just growing up and are doing other things besides posting on the internet. When we were all young pups and poker was booming it was a great place to share ideas, kinda grow as poker players together b/c back then everyone sucked and didn't know anything. Now, most people are really fucking good and know just about everything and if you don't it is pretty easy to find out how to get there or close.
I don't know if I have any solutions. To be honest, it is tough for online forums to beat a lot of things in life in the competition for time. If general threads start popping up that tickle my fancy I'll probably start popping up and tickling my fancy. Until then, if any LPers are ever in the NYC, Philly, Bmore area and want to setup a meet up or grab some drinks or something I'd be down.
