[NL100] Day 3 by Uptown, February 19

Calling it a day after only 2'ish hours and 1.3k hands. I cant see myself playing anywhere near optimal after these two hands.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/636684
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/636688

Tables are starting to get a lil more shark infested, and I think I'm going to do IRL stuff I gotta take care of instead of grinding out in tougher waters.

I think I'm finally starting to get value from Fish overall (though one of them totally played me http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/636687) and my balls are growing a lil' more playing back at regs mainly when I'm IP.

Overall I ran above average I think, not going to lie. I'm still -EV at NL100 overall, so cut me some slack

iirc villain is a total fish, thing 80/20 type.

Thanks for your help and encouragement as always, LP!

WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Also brief nl200 shot.. Was going ok for 300 hands. Then I literally got lol'd in every single hand/was completely card dead, so my showdown winnings just lolplummetted. Then I got stacked AA < KK.

I think I will grind nl50 all day tomorrow, hopefully win, and chill down a bit since I need to keep my profit above 2k atleast this month..

Then nl100 for the rest of the month to try and get a good samplesize there

Hmmm by fira, February 19

Ok this is going to be a poker post, since I haven't written any lately. I'm gonna talk about my general concerns about my style and what's possibly limiting the rapid growth of my BR. Someone brought up a question in one of my earlier blogs regarding a graph I posted, and I thought it would be worth discussing.

I still haven't recovered my PT3 from my old hard disk yet but if I did, I'd show you guys my 2009 graph (I started seriously playing poker again at the beginning of 2009). Basically my red line ($ won without showdown) is constantly bumping around 0. In a database of about 10k hands, I can expect my red line to go between 2bi to -2bi, but on average it would be zero. My blue line ($ won with showdown) is either really high or really low, depending on how I'm running. Many of these key blue line hands are just near-flips like JJ vs AK pf allin, SFD vs set, big pair vs draw+pair, etc. I feel like my blue line is greatly dictated by luck a lot of the time, especially vs many regs who you just can't fold to a 4bet with AK. I see a lot of graphs and notice that winners have their red line graph as a consistent uphill slope, and their blue line is much like mine. I'm not exactly sure why my red line is always around break-even, but I feel this is one of my bigger leaks that I should work on. I'd much rather see a consistently positive red line than even a steep uphill blue line.

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

Day 2.5 by ayreon, February 19

Being awake for over 24 hours isn't all that bad, I even was able to play some pick up games of basketball with friends during the middle of the day, I also was able to once again be informed that I should be approaching .01/.02, and NLHE in general, differently. I love being corrected by players with much more experience then me, it's always good to be told what mistakes you are making and figuring out how to fix them. I am basically using a hands chart that k24o used when he first started, every raise I make is 4xBB + 1BB per limper, and every bet is exactly the pot size. My goals are to make the hands I play second nature so I don't have to look at the hands chart to know what to do, understand the hands chart guidelines (why I am doing different actions for different hands in different positions), look for betting patterns from my opponents when it comes to the showdown, and continuing to understand odds (even though I all my raising and betting is the same and since I have been told that I have to build a solid foundation first so that I will be able to apply the more advanced concepts correctly). The following hands are the ones I was involved in a 2 hour session I played ten minutes ago. Please let me know if I shouldn't have been raising at any of these points.

NL2 Day2 by Gadget, February 19

Ok, so I played another 2k or so hands yesterday and every half hour I checked the discovery channel and not once did I find dirty jobs. I ended up having to watch I Love Money or something. It's a show on VH1 thats kind of entertaining.
http://www.bagofnothing.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/dirtyjobs.jpg
Anyways, about half way through my session I got tired of TV and turned on some music. It ended up working a lot better and I managed to put together a pretty solid run towards the end of the day. I also started playing 6 tables again and found that once I got used to it I actually prefer it over 4 tables.
http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/oo228/m3gaedke/2-19-09shopped.jpg
I can't figure out how to separate my graphs by days so this is a graph of every hand i have played up to this point. I probably wont be playing much for the next few days because my girlfriend is coming to stay with me for the weekend. I'm at school and she lives about 9 hours away. So my next blog post will probably be sometime next week.

Need help ^^ PSTARS rules by ck20, February 19

Ok.

My friend has created an account on pokerstars like half year ago.

I sent him 25$ so he could start playing..

I cashed out my whole roll on stars some time ago.. I've 0$ on the neteller/bank account and dont rly want to pay the provision again..

so is it fine if he ships 100$ for me so I can start playing with it? note its his whole bankroll because he said he will not continue with poker. we live in the same city, and im kinda afraid if pokerstars has right to ban me 4this

any1?
I searched on pokerstars website/rules and couldnt find the answer.. if no1 on liquidpoker knows then I guess i gotta send email to the support

Picking up Pokah again by T8Suited, February 19

Switching jobs between April to June. Which means I will have a chance to realize playing full-time poker for the entire month of May. Needless to say I am very excited about this challenge.

The bad thing is, I have been losing for 1 year, playing 50NL sparingly, perhaps 3 or 4 long 1k+ hand sessions per month. Lost about 1.5k. This after playing every day after school (before I graduated) for a 5-month stretch (Sep 07 - Feb 08) winning 15k at mostly NL100.

I decide I will 1) move back up 2) try to play better 3) post hands for advices 4) reinstall Pokertracker ASAP

Hands from tonight's sessions

1) Very common small-pot spot, I think flatting flop is a misplay, even against a loose player. Different line anyone?
+ Show Spoiler +

2) Another common spot -- TT in BB vs a 50BBer LP opener preflop. I reraised an extra $4 because I wanted to avoid awkward stack sizes on the flop and commit myself while my hand is probably good (I didn't want to bet-fold suboptimal flops). Is this alright or is this thinking flawed?
+ Show Spoiler +

3) This one bothers me a lot. Villain is a reg and probably on the passive side. But I have an overpair in a reraised pot......

Fun hands

NEVER FLAT AA PF

Can't ask for a better board vs uberpassive

Day 2 by ayreon, February 19

Well, after typing about a page of text asking questions and posting hands I mistakenly exited the page but that's okay because it will force me to remember the questions more now...

Okay so basically I haven't gone to sleep yet but I seem to be running good, not because I am playing well but because the other players insist on shoving me all in preflop before I can 3 bet them with AA/KK. I have a few questions that I have to get out of the way concerning value betting, limping/betting medium pocket pairs in EP/MP, and controlling the hand. So to start off, I am currently not value betting with hands such as top pair/top kicker but mostly restricting myself to monster hands that do not have that much of a chance to lose according to board texture. When I hit my sets I make sure to bet so that they are not getting good enough odds to call with flush draws or straight draws (depending on board) but making it not so obvious enough to completely chase them out of the hand. I've also been getting away from hands that are obviously beat by draws when they do hit understanding that I should not reward the other players optimistic calls. I usually will apply near pot size bets when there are multiple players in the hand and then start value when it's reduced to me and one other and my hand seems to be best. I think I played the following hand correctly but tell me if you think I should have bet on the end instead, I felt like he hit his draw and didn't feel like having to face a tough decision if he shoved after I bet.

+ Show Spoiler +

My next question is, earlier I asked k2o4 about limping in early position with small pocket pairs and he said not to so I have been thinking more about limping in EP/MP with medium pairs and it seems as if by limping I am actually reducing my hands value. For one, I can't play my set as profitably from earlier position if it hits, and two, by betting I might chase out some drawing hands and create a better position for myself at the table. So I have been open raising medium pairs such as 1010 EP and MP and follow up according to board texture and opponents strength pre flop. If I am re raised pre flop more than what the immediate pot odds would warrant as a correct call, I look at the opponents stack size and apply the 5/10 rule deciding if it would be profitable for the chance to possibly stack him if my set did hit. Post flop, if the board texture looks promising (such as holding 1010 with board being 982 rainbow) I will bet near pot size if checked to by multiple players but value bet instead if checked to by only one player. If I am first to act I will continuation bet and call a re raise if it's not too large but c/f the following streets. If I am only called I will continue to value bet (offering him bad pot odds for whichever draw he's on) until I have reason to believe he has me beat or if a higher card or draw hits in which case I just bet and call a small re raise but then c/f. Should I not bother calling the re raise? When he raises is what I am supposed to take into consideration the chances he is bluffing + the chances I have to improve? I think I play the following hand maybe a little too weakly, I feel confident after the flop since he only called preflop and checked to me with a good board. I value bet since I was pretty sure one would fold and wanted to give the one that stayed poor drawing odds to the flush but not chase him out completely. I continue to give him poor odds but once the king hits I wasn't too sure if he would have it so I decided to c/f from thereon but looking back, a value bet offering poor odds for a flush draw and calling his re raise if it was small enough would have been a better option I guess. Which brings me back to the question on how much of a bet should I call just to c/f to the following turn.

+ Show Spoiler +

This next hand I wasn't too sure that if I was being too careless in making the call but I figured since the player raised preflop he'd probably be holding a high pair like KK-JJ but so when I saw Q on board I figured he could possibly have hit his set but why wouldn't he be trying to trap me with it like most players? So I decided to call his all in and having him covered also made my decision easier. Should I have not called if he had a similar stack size as me?

+ Show Spoiler +

And finally I bet near pot size nearly every street this hand since I am in EP and there are many draws out there but unfortunately an ace hits the board at the end and I didn't want to pay him off to see it. Should I have bet then folded/called? I felt like he was just a floater looking for an ace to drop so he could get paid off.

+ Show Spoiler +

Another hand where I lose with KK, should I have bet on the turn after being checked too? Once again I wasn't scared enough to fold right away because of the flush after it hit since I had a diamond in hand (k2o4 also told me that I should continue betting if flush draw hits when I have AA and one of my aces is the same suit as the flush draw and to call if it c/c if it isn't and then c/f following hands).

K that's it for now guys, I hope to hear some good advice from you.

nl100 by ciachooooo, February 19

hello everyone

as i wrote in last blog post i decided to play nl100, and actually played 1 table of nl200 when game was really soft (made ~200$)

feelings:
1) there are much less total fishes, like idk 4 time less, usually there is one 40/10 player and rest are regulars or random tag fish
2) regs are much better, at nl50 i used to just crush those nits, here they play wider ranges, they are not so nitty postflop, make moves, 3bet light etc, actually i don't feel like i have enough edge at them to beat the rake, except for some of them
3) i run bad, but it is small sample, hope i will have decent winrate after xxk of hands (like 3-4ptbb/100)
4) i have problems with very common spots, i think i have to improve my game so much, at nl50 i could have played bad and still crush it, but now i see how many leaks do i have

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/966ac8909470194b2fad3d8d054aa609.jpg

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/efe132527e8f0aa6cf773a454aeebd2e.jpg

some hands:
1) + Show Spoiler +

27/18/3.7 on turn it looked for me like a blocking bet from at+, maybe a9s, but the point is i put him on big ace, i don't think he would have played 87hh or 2p like that, he would have bet bigger, and probably lead or ch/r flop ----> he has an ace
with that thoughts is it obv raise? i planned to call turn and bet small like 40% river to get value
on river by betting 3/4 pot after he bets 1/2 pot on turn it looks like he has aj right?
anyone folds here?
result + Show Spoiler +

2) + Show Spoiler +

raiser was 26/10 over small sample, BOUBLI was 25/21, fold to 3bet 2/2 at that moment, 4beting here looks superstrong, i would do it with ak,qq+, jj will depand on timing reads, would you prefer flating here not being result oriented? i thought i dont like playing aa oop in 3 way pot, when or had odds to call for set value, so i 4bet hoping boubli plays for stacks with ak,qq,kk

3) + Show Spoiler +

34/25/3 fold to 3bet 75%
what do you think about my line? as i remember at the moment when hand was played he either had lower fold to 3bet% or was pissed by me 3beting him all the time, because i remember i gave him wide pf calling range
is it clear fold now? i beat like queens, ak, aj but i don't think he is ever betting them, i think he would like to go to showdown with them, but this might be only me

+ Show Spoiler +

4) + Show Spoiler +

random fish like 40/0 after 15 hands
should i give him credit for one of two kings left?
should i bet/fold flop?

5) + Show Spoiler +

standard play vs short with 100%fold to cbet %?
2 overs, backdoor fd, and nice odds
or someone checks behind flop? or bet like 5 and fold to any raise?
