obviously im getting the normal run now...by whamm!, February 19
hit the end of the heater and im just basically cruising along, lost just a little taking shots, now staring at a 8600 roll not knowing what to do next, made 6300 so far this year so thats always good, but really starting to feel exhausted and skeptical if i can pull of a monster couple months. if im doing this , i need to be doing this at higher limits, so that's kind of a dealbreaker for me too, i just lost interest and less motivated to play lately. oh well life goes on, gl to me i guess
Since i obviously can't control my tilt, I've implemented the restrict limit to nl25.
now i can only play nl25, which i already can beat at a reasonable pace. So after busting my roll, I deposited 500 with the 25% bonus in hopes of a better future.
heres a graph for today, i got a sick heater in the last 1k hands going up 8 BI for the day. ajaja fighting!
Hey guys, thanks for the advice from my last entry. K2o4, thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Today didn't go too bad, one of my biggest losses came from KK vs AA. Anyway of knowing I was beat or was it auto call?

The second hand I lost the most on was flopping two pair on a board that I was likely to get beaten by a straight on. Looking back on it, it was pretty obvious, I should have just folded instantly or just have called his re raise and then check folded the river?

During some situations where I go in with a strong hand and the flop comes with an over card the guide says I should check fold but if they don't bet after I check then I assume I have best hand. However, if a 3rd flush card falls after they continue to call you to the river and then they bet into you or reraise you is it correct to fold?
I didn't cf this hand like I should have on the flop but was I right to fold at the end?

First blog - NL25/50 funby ShadowDrgn, February 19
Hi guys, I've never made a blog before, but I figured it'd be fun to keep one for poker. Plus, it seems that lots of people respond to blogs but rarely answer any questions I post in my hand histories.
About me: I'm a 26 year old lawyer in San Jose, CA. I'm not a poor college student looking to make a living off poker; I just want a game that's fun and makes me money instead of costing money. I found LP through TL because I'm a huge Starcraft fan. Wrath of the Lich King stole all my Starcraft buddies away so I turned to poker as something to play until SC2 testing begins. Despite not being 100% into poker, I'm a competitive gamer and don't like to half-ass things. I don't get a lot of time to play, but I watch videos, read books, review hand histories, etc. on top of the time I do play. Despite having the disposable income to easily play medium stakes, I've been working my way up to minimize risk and get comfortable losing money.
I started 2 months ago at NL10 and moved to NL25 this month with the intention of getting silver star in Feb. 1188/1500 now, so far so good with that goal. I deposited $1000 for the 25 billion bash and I'm at 569/5000 in clearing the $250 bonus.
I've been practicing very conservative BR management, but I recently read another post here that suggested taking shots at higher stakes earlier on. After all, why waste time learning how to play NL25 if I can already be a winner at NL50 or NL100? To that end, I tried NL50 yesterday and lost all my NL25 February winnings in 90 minutes. I played like a total donk post-flop and lost 3 buy-ins fast. Oops.
So today I started my session with the intention of at least making my $150 back by the end of the month. No pressure to get it all back in one day. Well, I'll let the picture speak for itself:
I table select pretty heavily at stars, but it has never paid off as well as today. Unlike what usually happens, the fish were stacking everyone else and then donating their money to me. Usually when I bet-bet-shove a fish and they call, I cry. Today, they were calling incredibly light and paying off my sets, pairs, and TPTK hands. I sucked out on one guy QQ v AA (he called me a moron for calling his 5bet shove) and coolered another guy set over top 2 pair on an AJ8 flop. Got sucked out on a few times, but only once in a big pot. Didn't hit a single flush or straight in 674 hands, but that's standard for me anyway. KK 7 times all won, AA 3 times all won too.
Pretty standard 20/15 TAG stats I suppose. It looks like I float a lot of flops, but that's just because so many people at NL25 will bet 1/10th of the pot or so and give me odds to call with just about anything I was willing to see a flop with.
Graph of NL25, first 2000 hands or so were FR before I gave up on it. I alternated between FR and 6max at NL10, but I've since given up on nitring.
So I'll probably stick with NL25 for the rest of the month and move to NL50 next month with the intention of getting gold star status. I'm just playing 4-6 tables for now while working on my game. No need to mass grind for money.
Trying for a third time to get this to actually post... Maybe having a single quote in the title messed with the DB? Yep, I think that was it.
Well... I've made a lot of progress. I've finally got to where when i get really tilted I don't decide that it's time to jump up 3 levels.
I was playing on Cake. The bonuses and rakeback were nice. I usually have to play on off hours though, so the table selections at NL10 were pretty wretched unless I wanted to wait in like 30 minutes and mix 6max and FR. In an effort to get the best of both worlds, as well as really get bankroll management engraved into my thick skull I divided that NL10 roll into two NL5 Rolls.
I deposited at Pokernordica for 30% rakeback, 100% bonus of my NL5 roll. I deposited the other NL5 roll onto Pokerstars the day before they announced the new bonus. This has allowed me to play at Pokernordica when the games are good and then Pokerstars during the off hours.
So far at Pokernordica things have gone well. I'm up 8 buy ins over a couple thousand hands.
However at Pokerstars, where I have done most of my playing. I Can't beat NL5. It's incredibly frustrating, as I'm sure you're all familiar with.
I first deposited, lost 10 buy ins in 3k hands. Actually moved down to NL2(making progress) and beat it pretty well. Last night I moved back up to NL5 @ 20 BI, since then I've played 1k hands lost 8 buy ins. It's incredible. I just hate it. I almost want to earn a few more buy ins at Pokernordica and then withdraw damning by bonus just to skip NL5 at PS...
lol beating NL2 for 10bb/100 and losing at NL5 at -35bb/100 mostly 6max. and I'm running 21/17/2.5
How standard is that NL5 downswing? I'm sure I've started to play horribly because it's destroying my confidence... I felt more confident at NL5 8 months ago when I made my first blog as a complete fish. If I made a video would anyone both watching it? lol
Thanks for reading...
edit: I also just got a DC subscription and HEM for my bday from my GF... I definitely like HEM > PT3 and DC is sick so far...
FTP and random thoughts.by Cro)Deadman, February 19
Well as some of you may had noticed I have moved to FTP...and to be honest beside the sick bad beats I'm laid upon on regular basis,I really like it.
In my opinion FTP has been advertising themselves a lot better lately then Stars are,and more importantly in all the right places, such as UFC,also the reg:fish ratio is better and the regs are mostly not-so-good.
In general it's a lot softer then Stars and I'm happy I've made this switch.
My current plans are to grind quite a lot and cashout rakeback only, live a modest life for some time and build a roll to ultimately get to NL400,a limit is the final one in my crosshairs.
Here are some statistics how I've been doing on FTP so far and some hands for comedy value.
I tried signing up with 2 different credit cards but for some reason my account is bugged. After a few emails they decide to give me one month free. Yay for DC support!
Hi Bryan,
There seems to be some bug with your account. So what I have done is upgraded your account for 1-month for free.
Hopefully the bug will be fixed by the time your 1-month is up and you decide to continue your subscription.
Sorry about this and see you on Deuces,
Joe Tall
DeucesCracked Team
Well i guess you cant use PT and stuff with cake but i decided early this morning as i was waiting up all night to see my lawyer at 830 am because there is no way in hell i was gonna wake up that early as i was browsing lp and seen a "Cake poker 33% rakeback" I thought hmm, deposit bonus + rakeback = win. I'm gonna do it, I get my huge income tax check soon and fuck it i'm just gonna deposit and quit wasting time on supermicrostakes faggot bullshit on stars.
ANYWAYS, so i deposited $500 to cake and wow i ran sooooooooooo good today and the players are sooooooo much worse than on stars it's pretty amazing. I think it's gonna take years to clear the deposit (I think ive played 2-3k hands and only cleared $10 so far)
Anyways my BR as of posting this =$737 and thats purely from playing .1/.2 heads up.
my life is so much happier with poker success in it, i havent been able to win on stars in forever. Hopefully this is just a start to a great thing.
God I felt like I played really good. Got over the fear and had a lot of fun. Exciting to be higher up and especially nice to feel like I am good enough to be there.
At least I'm used to this shit after the first half of the month where I ran crazily under expectation.
I hit 5.9k earlier today and took a while to get myself pumped up to do NL200. Wanted to wait for the evening when it would be easier to find fish. The only times I got stacked where when I got sucked out, so that's great. Will continue NL200 through the weekend and I'm gonna do a solid 10 BI shot. Gogo heater!
I LOVE MICROSTAKES IT'S LIKE POKER WITHOUT THE STRESS OF MAKING MONEY OR THE POSSIBILITY OF MAKING MONEY!
For serious though, help me with this hand against a nit. I feel like KK is a bluffcatcher but feel like a bluff is likely given history. He can't do this with JJ, right?
i have been running extremely well playing live lately. this past weekend i played a 16 hour session and was sitting with 2.2k at 1/2 at the end. i lost 2k in cash carrying it around last time so this time i asked harrah's to issue a check. now i'm worried that the tax man would be breathing down my neck so i'll have to do some research on that i guess.
mardi gras is coming up this weekend which means i'll be grinding like a madman at the casino in new orleans, entertaining all the fish tourists for five days nonstop. 10k weekend? idk i've been thinking about just playing 2/5 from now on but the games at 1/2 are so ridiculously soft that I have no trouble maintaining an abnormally high hourly just playing deep against the regfish.
might actually give it a shot this weekend though.
i'm moving down to 25NL online btw. i cashed out and then won a sat to the sunday mil so i'll be 2-4 tabling 25NL for a few days. let's see how long it takes me to get back to 100nl
"I'm not an economist, but I do believe that we're growing. And, uh, I can remember you know this press conference here that people are yelling recession this, recession that, as if you're economists. And um, I'm an optimist. You know what, I believe there's a lot of positive things for our economy."
Hour long documentary on the current financial crisis. Excellent overview tho a bit short on technical analysis. As usual, frontline delivers with an all star lineup for their interviews.
50bb/100, obviously heaterish, but there seem to be almost zero good players at NL50 HU.

I love playing fish HU. You don't have to share them, you can tilt them, you can take all their money, let them rebuy, then take all their money again.
You can 3-bet purely for value, because they'll call all your 3-bets with random trash and play extremely spewy postflop.

I'm not really complaining, I'm still up 3 BI for the day in 1.3k hands, but I was up 7 in 1k hands until I ran into this guy who was just on absolute godmode.
Now, hopefully I can stay above the 2k mark while I still try to solidify nl100 reg status. AKA Goal 2! I've been running really well, so I am not sure how big of a winner I am at this limit yet. I definitely think I have an edge over the field as a whole, but I still am working on how to beat up the regs better..
3rd goal, is I want to play as many hands as I can while playing nearly as well as I possibly can. I'm like 10k behind the pace I'd find most desirable, but I've also been 4tabling almost the whole month.
I logged a 1.5h 6tabling session at nl50 just a minute ago. I want to play more but I didn't sleep last night; so I don't think I'd play optimally I guess I will play simcity4 instead. AKA what kept me up all night lol... then my fucking city I played on for 9hours FUCKING RANDOMLY ERASED ITSELF.. I LOVED THAT FUCKING CITY WITH ALL MY HEART
Finally, if I get another $1k in profits this month, bringing my roll to 5k, I'm going to take a 3BI nl200 shot

Step 3 : The beginningby ConquistadoR, February 18
Today I played my first NL10 sessions after making another ~50 out of NL5.
Guess what : Started off bad, in the middle of the session cards were cold as hell, and it ended with the most heinous suckouts that the world has seen. It looked like i could recover at some points, but then the ridicolousness got more and more, and after losing more than 70$ i decided to fck it and call it quits. So : My first losing day since I'm back on stars. But who cares, I will try to make it all back tomorrow. Very bad that variance just has to strike in harder as usual when I try to move up, very discouraging, but w-ever, I know that those guys are bad as hell and I should crush that limit, if my hands can hold up.
I'm also up ~15k on pacific, and down on stars/ftp from tourney and from my 2/4 sesh vs mez
still makes it more than 100k overall...
I also offered my girlfriend to go to las vegas for 6 days for Valentine's Day, we're leaving on feb 22nd, we'll be staying at the venetian, should be fun
