been lazy in may by the cleaner, June 02

I had alot of other stuff to do and played less then usuall. I´m regrinding @ 100nl, but it´s going slow, since I´m cashing out alot for expenses and some additional $$ cause I´m gonna visit my parents in germany in about 3 weeks. I usualy 4-6 table, but I have been playing 10-12 tables this month. My Won without showdown has decreased alot, and I definetly plan to go back to 4 tables once my BR hits 8000$ to play 200nl again.

Bankroll a little over 5000$ atm.

50$ Stars for the best idea by Sennpu, June 02

We recently started our site, everything is going pretty well except that we couldn't find a nice logo to represent us. Therefore, im offering 50$ Stars for the best idea that you guys can find for us.

Criteria:
- It has to be representative of the subject
- It has to be simple and clear
- It has to be real people on the picture/Logo
- We do not want any pictures coming off google
- Taking in consideration the points above, keep it realistic
- You do NOT have to take the picture, just the idea is enough we'll take care of the rest. However
if you feel like taking the picture yourself it's will be appreciated

* If this offer interest you just PM me your information so we can talk through MSN or AIM. Thank you ^^;

Feeling hot hot hot by Chewits, June 02

Yeah mini heat-wave here in the UK. Its fecking roasting for this time of year. Not meant to last much longer though. Hard to play poker in this weather. Enjoying the BBQs

I envy people who live in hot countries. Sunshine really does make you feel good. +EV. Of course I am sure here in Ireland, the heat we are getting is nothing compared to other countries.

Last month, sucked for cash games, but was win for sit+gos/MTTs. Still need to make a FT, and really need to learn how to play in later stages of tournament. Two weak spots are;

- close to the money with a really big chipstack, or
- ITM with medium stack.

I need to work on these. I tend to spew money off with bigstack. I really need to find some reading material on how to adjust your play depending on your stack and relation to money/FT and to stacks at table. How to play pocket pairs in mid position etc. When blinds/antes are so big, when is good and bad to 3bet etc. If I can work on these weaknesses I really think I can make a final table. Also need to work on keeping mentally strong when you get into the 5th hour of a tourney. Experience can only really teach me this. Just gotta stay focused.

Been having quite good success with 180man sit+gos. They are soooo soft, and good practice for MTTs. I am cashing in them at about rate of 1 in 4, and the ROI is good when u make FT, which I am doing quite often.

So for June, I need to

a) improve MTT late game play by sourcing good reading material/videos
b) schedule my sessions more efficently (ie no lazing around reading the ROFL thread for hour before session )
c) go back to basics with cash games. 4tables max, 6handed.
d) dont think about money/buy ins at cash games ( I feel this is effecting some of my decisions)
e) learn to let go of pots when you KNOW you are beaten (when i know my hand is beating nothing but a bluff)

Anyone got any advice on MTT play, any good links/articles/books ? I ordered the Poker Mindset, which is more about psychology, which I am keen to get. It should be here soon.

Thats all, nothing baller or amazing. Yes my blog is boring

Shot at 2/4 by LilDeano89, June 02

Hi all,
So I decided to take a 2k shot at 2/4 since I had been doing well recently at 1/2 and was feeling confident. Ended up playing a short 1 hour session in the afternoon and a longer 3.5 hour session later at night. Results:

So the shot is officially over which is kinda sad 2/4 is so much fun Got to play some with the infamous Jamie217 which was cool. The good news is at least my red line is solid and if I actually ran according to EV (always nice when on shots) it wouldn't have been so bad.

Back to 1/2 for now, see some of you there!
Later,
Dean

June plans etc. by MasterofLaw, June 02

So now it's june. Have had a pokerbreak for awhile except for one casino visit last thursday. I feel pretty well overall in relation to that session even though I lost 1,25bi. What made me feel good about it were especially three hands.

1. JJ vs AA pf. Blinds were 20/20 and stacks 2000 in total. He raises to 160 in middle pos (which is standard at the casino, and I reraise from SB to 500 total, everybody folds and the aggressor calls. Flopp is k43 rainbow, I check he checks behind. Turn is Q I check he checks behind. River is a pretty uninteresting card that I don't remeber but however we check it down, and he afterwards told me he were afraid of me having set KKK/QQQ but and that's why he just checked behind. But I made him admit that he wouldn't have fold to a bet/all in from me either, just lol.

2. KK vs 33. The hand before a real donk raises utg+1 with KJ and I almost knew he wasn't strong so I started to talk about me wanting to get it in with my 33 vs his two overcards that I ofc knew he held in his hand, but couldn't do this because of another player had called. However, this speech seemed in some strange way to have tilted him (he also lost the pot to CO) and the hand after I pick up KK. Some middle pos guy raised to 160 and I decided to just flat call with my kings, and yes, this hade the supposed effect on the KJ-guy, he decided to do a pretty small squeezeplay to 450, aggressor folds. I think for a while and then raise his all in 1500, he instacalls. Flopp 873, turn 3 river Q. And so he got his 4of a kind =)

3. AK vs unknown crap? In this spot I had been squeezing sometimes against some young player that looked like some suburban rap-gangsters. This guy sat on button and made some mandatory betting to 160 and I squeezed to 500. He thought for a second and I realized that he might not have a shit but wanted to hit something. He calls and flopp came AK8 two clubs. In my world a C-bet here from me would have made him throw his hand away (but ofc I could get value from a flushdraw) so I decided to check and look like it had been a squeeze with absolutely nothing pf and that I had given up on a board as such. He took the bait and made a small bet of 240, I just called. Turn was rather uninteresting, I checked he bet 550 ( After this call I only had 1150 left). Turn was a Q of spades and the flushdraw had missed, I decided to make it look like I had missed the flushdraw but wanted to win the hand so I pushed all in pretty instantly after the river hade fallen, but he folded.

Yesterday I had my first real online session since the big tilt earlier in may. Still waiting for my RB and just had a couple of bi:s. I decided to take a shot a NL50 HU. Played to different finnish guys for about 1hr in total. Result +300e or 6bi:s, pretty nice. Think I played pretty well, but didn't get sucked out as usual and there were some free money given away.

In June remember87 and Jocke (who is often told about in Dusty's blog) will come over and live in my apartment for at least a week. I have to go to work but think we may get time to play shitloads of poker in the evenings which I consider as very nice. It's also nice to get some company. Can tell you guys that leaving your old town, leaving and breaking up with your former co-habitant to work and settle down by your own in a capital city makes you feel like a stranger. It's pretty strange how a big city that is so crowded can make you feel so badly lonesome. Must make some new friends, which also is pretty hard since the only people you meet is the older lawyers and colleagues at work or drunk people at bars and clubs in weekends. SO in June it will be great to have some of my best friends come to visit and I think it will improve my well-being a lot. This Spring has so far been terrible in many ways. I missed my former life eventhough I have got employment at, what Dusty refers to as, a big ass lawfirm. Money ain't much in this world, real friendship and love seems much more important, but sometimes I suspect that you take things like that for granted and don't appreciate it as much as you should. Therefore I suspect it feels so bad when youre "out of it".

Also I will try to work out at least two times a week and take a walk home in the evenings instead of the subway.

That's all for now, hope June will ship me some winnings!

over and out

/MoL

Jealous by Sicks Macks, June 02

Reading this thread makes me incredibly jealous. It's amazing how far poker has progressed in only a few years. Judging by some of the posts, 3/6 was roughly equivalent to 0.05/0.10 now. Microgrinders take note, even some LP legends were saying things like "I hate players who chase gutshots" and "I'm grinding 3/6 on a $5000 roll". Fun stuff, wish I played then.

Month 5 graph by vegable, June 01

Well, I attempted NL100 at the beginning of the month and was pretty comfortable. Lasted about 8k hands before having to drop back down to get my bearings on.

I played some more NL50 and gained enough momentum in the middle of May to try again. Since then I've been more or less treading water (or slowly sinking depending on how you look at it). Its great that I'm lasting longer this time around but its pretty obvious I have some evaluating to do with my game. For the month of June I will beat NL100 for 3pt/bb with solid skillz. I'm gonna barf if I have to take aNOTHER 6 months to beat this limit lol. Starting -2bi under EV for June, w00000t

May + Bump [check last blog :-) ] by killThemDonks, June 01

May was decent. Near the end I lost pace on my goal of playing 100k+ hands so I'll try to do that this month. Played around 60k hands of NL20 and the rest NL50. I feel I have a decent edge on each of these limits so hopefully I'll be able to take some NL100 shots in a week or so.

For June, I have no expectations money wise...just goinna grind and try to play good poker

Day 1 by Stageus, June 01

Day 1: 1.6.09

First day of my two month long session wasn’t exactly how I planned, but it doesn’t mean that something bad happened. I have continued watching Brystmar’s series on CR and I have started reading Justin Zee’s post on 2+2 forum. It’s really interesting and I recommend read it to all players!(here is the link).
In the afternoon I played two satellites on CakePoker. First was 5$ rebuy to daily 10k GTD freezout with 50+5$ buy-in and second was 6$ rebuy to weekly 50k GTD freezout with 100+9$ buy-in. In first tournament I was doing well but I stacked out in one hand where I had ATo on CO and BB was blind all-in. Player on UTG limped in and because of large side pot I decided to push it (my stack was above average). But UTG player called me and showed AKo and his hand hold up. In the second tournament only first player won the ticket and try guess how I finished :-). In very last hand of HU I had pocket nines and reraise all- in my opponent, who had raised from button. He called and showed pocket tens and won the ticket. I took 50$ for second place.
Other plans which I had for today and wrote yesterday I haven’t done yet. It’s because my roommate and very good friend has come and he told me about some problems he has now. So we were talking and then also started drinking...
Tomorrow I have volleyball tournament. It will be all day so I hope I will at least read some articles in the evening or finally set up my Holdem Manager and prepare it for my first on-line session.

Good night
