Note to self: stick to SNGs for nowby BJLTNYK, August 09
I had my debt basically erased from continued ownage of the $16 turbo SNGs. Then Stars decided to add HU cash and I got sucked in for some fucking reason. What the fuck!
I played NL200 for a while, but the amount of money just scares me... Its too much to lose, I feel.
I have 13k+ br, and I feel a little silly for still playing NL100. I guess I win about 400$ a day (sometimes much more, but very few days much less) and dont really feel the urge to go up.
Has this happened to anyone? Maybe I wait for 20k br to feel comfortable? I really dont know.
Learning to 12 table nl100, and last night took a shot 6 tabling nl200. I think 12 tabling helped because I'm learning to fold a lot easier now and I get in less shitty spots.
Today I near-bustoed my 400BR on Stars, I played a few 20$ HU SNGS, lost a few, then decided to play a 220turbo. Lost QK vs A4 for the win, then lost AK vs K9 when I had like 900 chips. Sucks. My br is like, 75 there so I will probably sit at a NL100 and move up limits and try to bring it up fast.
Besides that, I haven't been playing enough poker, I could definitely use the money but haven't had the motivation to do so. Been running below average, but nothing to complain about (just kills the urge to play).
I'm back in New Hampshire for the summer (instead of Taiwan), but a YMCA around here is having a badminton night in a few hours - hopefully that'll be fun with cute girls..
ookok just cashed in a 45man 3.25 and won a 1.50+75. Yesterday and today is +$60 to my BR bringing it up to 160 now. Just taking it slow now. I have a final i need to study for (pre calc ftw!) and a test tomorrow then ill be going home for a bit. So no poker for a few days which will be good. Ive been reading a lot of different articles and trying to find books on poker (the UF library had Harrington on Hold'em so i checked that out)
new motto is take it super duper terra ultra mega slow thanks to ggplz!
ok so its 2am thursday night and im about to sleep, but out of the blue this friend calls me cos i havent seen him in a few months so hes wants to go out and drink and play pool and be merry cos hes a ridiculous hard-livin russian alcoholic
i dont have uni til like 1:30 tomorrow so i say sure whatever. he comes to my house in his car, my spidey sences are tingling and telling me hes already been drinking but he is famed throughout the lands for his composure so ill never pick it up until we fly off the road at 100kph into a ditch.. aaaaanyway
i get into the car and we drive up my street to the main rd to go to the venue of drinking, the end of my road is a no exit road but my friend being bad the bone as he is ignores the sign cos it aint no thang.. theres no traffic at all obv so its hardly an issue
about 2km up the rd we get the red/blue lights of doom in the back window and my friend remarks "oh, im fucked" pretty matter of factly, so i think "uh oh spagettios!", it should be noted that im actually finding this pretty funny of the randomness of the call to go out and the fact that the plan is clearly fucked now after less than 10 minutes. apparently we got pulled over cos of the exiting at the no-exit thing, so obviously thats a "fuck" pretty ridic unlucky that they saw that heh
so the guy breathtests my friend and hes more than twice the legal limit obv(LOL), and thats for fully licensed drivers... my friend is only a p-plater haha. so hes fucked.. he tries to talk his way out of it but that fails miserably. so hes gonna have to go to court but hes gonna a fat fine, lose his license + his parents are going to anally brutalize him and stop giving him money cos his job is working in his parents shop
aaanyway so they have to take him back to the station, so now im stranded, wearing a tshirt and its fucking cold so i have to walk home which takes me 20 minutes. i woke up kantoki from this site to bitch and tell him the story to him as i walked home cos he was on msn like 30mins ago so was prob still awake (he wasnt but fuck him hoho he can listen to my bullshit)
so here i am, it was 40 minutes from first contact to me getting back home and sitting in my comp chair... sweeeeet night out
Hello LP'ers. First of all I'd like to apologise for not updating my blog. I've been in Italy for 11 days ( I came back 4 days ago) and I must say it was one of the best times in my life. I really enjoyed being there. So I'll write something about this trip.
First day of our trip we spent in Rome . I liked it but I think they have to do something with all the trash on the streets.
We saw Vatican, John Paul II's thumb, some old buildings and Colloseum. However, we didn't come in the famous St. Peter's Bassilica and also Colloseum but we saw it from outside and they looked great. Here is kinda balla-picture of me near Colloseum:
Then we spent like 8 days in Rimini - great city for tourists and partying. Believe me, I haven't ever seen THAT many hot chicks in one place We were in 2 discos, 2 times in Carnaby ( a lot of homos and fuckin metro-italians who wanted to fuck every single girl ) and Altromondo - I really liked this one, cause it was bigger, with two rooms - in this bigger one played famous Gigi D'Agostino. I almost got a boner when I listened to his music Omg I'd love to be there right now.
We were also in Mirabilandia - one of the biggest ( if not the biggest ) amusement park ( or w/e it's called like ) in Europe. I couldn't stop smiling while being there. It was one of the happiest days in my life . Here is the official site of this place. And this is a video of Katun, the biggest rollercoaster there :D.
I'll post more pics from Italy later. I have to take my friends' photos cause I don't have many on my camera.
And now something about poker.
As you know I was(am)going through my biggest ds - it's even reached $7.2k but it's smaller right now.
When I came back from Italy I thought I'm rested enough to beat 200nl easly but something went wrong. I got a lot of coolers, bad beats and and played a little too bad. So on 200nl I'm down 4BIs this month. My cousin told me not to play 200nl for a while and move down even to 50nl. So I did and did well but got few bad beats and after 440 hands am down $69
I thought these stakes are too ez for me and started playing 100nl. I own these noobs so hard. Every minute I play I'm laughing at them cause they are so bad and they still think they are g00d So basically I'm up 10,5 BIs on 100nl after 2.9k hands and it seems like it's gonna be a winning month - I'm up $200 so far and am pretty happy about it cause since 28th June I've been losing almost every day.
So good luck to everyone (including me )
Haven't made a blog post in a while, hopefully this one will be enjoyable.
I was running well/playing well (or so i think?) at 200nl, was running like 7ptbb/100 over 20k hands at one point. I had already begun taking very very small shots at 2/4 and 3/6 when there was a fishy table, etc. Very very confident in my game and my ability to win moneys.
But yesterday, I snapped :[. Something I thought I had under control since leaving 100nl - tilt. The downswings at ssnl are brutal it seems (well..anywhere, but still losing 4 figures isnt cool), so I made sure to maintain myself. I started off running pretty bad/making some bad bluffs at 200nl, and everything just went downhill from there. After losing roughly 2k, I spotted a juicy 3/6 table and joined it. Immediately I plunged myself into an even more painful anal violation.
Prior to the session, I had cashed out 4k, which left me with roughly 4k to play with (for 200nl mutlitabling, standard, etc.). By the end of the night, I found myself with a little less than 1000. Feeling distraught, I began talking to my poker coach/teacher. He crushes msnl up to 2knl on ftp, but for some reason I do very well vs him hu (a week ago I had a losing day, challenged him to some hu out of frustration, ended up +2k on him at one point on 3 tables of 200nl hu, ended with +800). Needless to say, in my condition, and some random bullshit he bustos me (lol so much for a teacher ).
So that was me, yesterday. Obviously here are some graphs. The HU session is not included.
I got a 1k stake (my own money, basically) from my teacher, under the conditions that I will earn 5000 by September, otherwise I have to ship him 1500 back. If I succeed, I only have to ship 800 back. It's not that great of a stake, I'm really unsure in the time I have left I can get 5k without running hot again, and even if I succeed it's only a 200 dollar bonus to me. Regardless, my account was busto, and I needed money, so I took it.
My first day (4k hands in one day, 4-5 tabling only roflll) after the catastrophe looks like this: Apparently I'm like doomswitched for life in 200nl. I found the 100nl games incredibly soft for some reason, and I couldn't really take the stakes seriously so it kinda allowed me to open my game up and play 25/20 when I usually play much tighter than that.
So I'm off to a pretty decent start I guess. I would LOVE to say that I've finally learned my tilt lesson and whatnot, but really, you never know. Like I said, I thought I had understood the effects of tilt and how to control it long ago, turns out I was wrong and now I'm faced with being set back about 3 weeks in terms of income. Meh, oh well, here's hoping I get earn 5k (not counting stake money + rakeback) by september!
Figured id start a blog to help keep me occupied during the day when im playing poker.
Quick Summary
For the most part im a part-time player. I have a small business here in Louisville - as well as a stupid girlfriend - which keeps me away from the poker tables sometimes. Ive played pretty much exclusively on Stars since the summer of 2003. I pretty much only played low limit MTT and SNGs up until the beginning of last year. And I did pretty well in them with a 192% ROI in over 825 tourneys. But i never really enjoyed not having the option to get up and go, or play whenever i wanted to (like in cash games). That said, i decided to give the ring games a try and had solid success. Played 100NL - mostly 6max - all year running 7.45 BB/100. At the end of last December on into the new year i went on somewhat of a downswing where i didnt really make any money and wound up having my first losing month ever in January. Somewhat discouraged i didnt play much poker (there were a few weeks where i'd try a play as much as i could) up until the end of June.
Jan. 1 through mid June:
I treated myself to a few vacations this summer and when i got back from my last one in June i needed to make some money (summer months are slow with my business). I had cashed out half my bankroll so ive been playing mostly 50nl 6max since then. Havent had the luxury of keeping all my winnings in my account so im not back at 100nl just yet. I have put in almost 4k hands at 100nl but nothing crazy.
June 21st through today:
As fars as poker goals, i dont really have any except trying to move back up to 100nl as soon as posible. Like i said, ive been hampered with having to make a few cashouts for living expenses. But im almost half way to Supernova where im looking forward to cashing in a few $1500 bonuses to add to my roll (unless i go concierge instead!).
Im not really sure how often ill be posting, but im looking forward to learning a lot and improving my poker game. Because I looooooooove $$$.
Thats me, the dink (not donk) middle-right in the hat with a few of my best friends.
Uhhhhh this fucking blows. I suck at poker and ive been getting so pwnd on 5/10. Its gone so far im forced to move down to 3/6 again. I have probably been doing some stupid bluffs and shit but Im definitely running really bad aswell.
Here are the biggest losers from my 1k hand session today where i dropped 9k.
i was the best dressed person in the building (as usual)
I walk through the door and this rough lookin guy who smelt of fags waited for me to walk through - i just let the door close behind me rather than hold it open for him.
he goes
"THANKS..." stood about 6inches from a closed door.
If you got door problems i feel bad for you son, i got 99 problems but a door aint one.
Anyway this incident kept me amused and i sat outside courtroom 2 waiting for my name to be called. I started to get worried coz i had no idea which courtroom i was menna be waiting outside of but thought id just gamble and leave it up to chance.
Since i run so good, obv. i was outside the right courtroom. Get my name called and they offer me diversion. which means i get no conviction if i comply with some po-po stuff.
I look at my charges and theyre trying to pin me for 3 months in prison and a $2500 fine - bit heavy handed that one.
Go into an office with 5-0 and they ask me about that night etc.
I told him i was still studying accounting (which obv. is a lie since ive dropped out coz im a bum) - but my chances of getting off lightly were better if i didnt say i was an unemployed degenerate gambler with a borderline drinking problem.
I see some photos of my damage and some other stuff.
Once again, i run so good that none of the glass panels broke so it was just a case of putting them back into place.
$200 fine and letter of appology to the bus stop company.
Issues with PAHUD have caused me to not play very much. Two days ago I was down around $120 and made that back yesterday. Finally buckled down and paid for PAHUD so I played a 400 hand session and ended up +$100. BR is $4400. I shall now proceed to get high / drunk for the next 5 days. Cheers.
2 other hands that i lost, my AQ vs 44 vs a $5 stack, his held, and i got AKs for a full buyin vs a mega loose aggro in preflop, ofc he had kings when its me in the pot with him.
So all in all a great day of poker fun was had by all.
I think i played my A game except the AKs right at the end, which maybe was a fold, but tbh i think id still push AKs vs that player since like his range is so so wide.
Hello everyone. The names Ali, i have been lurking TL and LP for a bit now under bane and i finally decided to put some money onto stars and get started at poker. I learned poker in the middle of my senior year of high school i went to a friends house and sat down knowing nothing about the game and went home a winner. After that i checked out LP from the links on TL and just started reading up and looking at hands. I just moved to college (university of florida) and have a lot of time on my hands here ha. i originally put $25 on to pokerstars (username: monsterali) and in a a few weeks i turned it into $100. i play penny tables and SNGs from 1.10 up to the 3.25 ones. Im going to try my hand at some small buy in tournaments as well.
hope to keep this blog to keep me on track with my game!
