Life > My BR + Deus Ex Machina by Benzooor, August 08

So last week I got pulled over for having a LICENSE PLATE LIGHT OUT. Turns out my license was indeed suspended due to me skipping out on a previous court date, also my insurance card expired a week prior.

So I got owned by the police and left 4 miles from home at 1am (I was trying to get to in n out before they closed) with no car and no license and a huge ticket.

So I had to cash out from Stars to cover some of these ridiculous expenses..

Anyways I wanted to put 100$ back on so I bought a Visa Gift Card and they DONT WORK ANYMORE!

Sitting at home really bored I just wanted to play, loaded up Bodog of all things since I had like 10$ on there, played a 4,500$ guaranteed and demolished it. Just dominated throughout the whole thing and finished first for
$1125

And then this morning I got on and the 1/2 tables were full but tehre were 3 fish sitting at the 2/4 with ~100-180 each, so I sat down with 200 and ran it up to $850 before I left for work!

Hah, now I just have to figure out how to get this BR onto stars so I can start rolling .50/1

Anybody know of a way to do this? I don't have any way to really deposit on Stars, and I don't wanna pay the fees for ePassporte.

Also, anybody ever cashed out from bodog? I used to just have it put right into my account but they only have checks now and I've heard bad things.

But still, it was a good day or two of luckboxing

Lets see how it pays of in the long term.
But i was just sad with playing all the micro SNGS and learning absolutely nothing and making between 30 cent and 8 $ and hour.

My goal has never been to just make some cents while playing an hour of Poker...
I did aim for a Poker income that is about the same money than a regular part time job since i started with Poker.

Ain't Nothing To a Boss by DooMeR, August 08

mmmm I recently took the step up to 600NL and its been going pretty damn well. Only thing that really changes at these stakes is the level and amount of regs at the tables with you. Which thankfully half are still complete donkies and the other half for the most part aren't great either. Heres my graphz0r for 3/6 so far and 2/4 in general since i moved up.
http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/9596/24and36do8.th.jpg

I basically have run amazingly well at 3/6 and pretty shitty at 2/4 but u dont see me complaining lol. So far my results can speak for themselves somewhat even though its a small sample size. But the important thing is I am 100% comfortable at both 2/4 and 3/6. I'm feeling very secure with how my game is progressing and everyday I am learning more and more.

Since I have progressed nice and quickly from 2/4 to 3/6 I am going to be taking it easier in terms of moving up. At the moment my roll has just broke 24k but i am going to take it easy and continue to just pad the bankroll and cash out regularly.

REAL LIFE!
As far as me goes. My birthday is the 13th and for my birthday i am treating myself with a nice present. I'm having an alarm and a sound system installed in my B-Mer thats going to come out to about almost 2k between all the parts i'm putting in and labor. So yea i DEFINITELY can't wait for that! I actually have to leave soon after I post this blog to call up the shop thats going to install it and schedule the exact day everything is going to be put in.

BTW I purchased an Xbox 360 Elite from the FPP store and I'd love to know what people think are the best games for it. I already know I'm getting Gears of War, aside from that though, i need some suggestions. T_T

GL guys im out!

Blackjack is fun by T8Suited, August 07

For a 1-week stretch I dropped ~1k (5900+ to 4878) in my poker bankroll by playing too loosely and recklessly against good 6-max NL50 and NL100 opponents. So I decided to take a break in poker, and try my luck (read: skill) in blackjack at local casinos. The game was no-hole-card, except dealer BJ results in the loss of only the original bet even if you had split/doubled earlier in the hand. Late surrender, dealer hits soft 17, double after split allowed, resplit up to 4 hands.

August 1st was the funnest session. I played on the $5-min table, 2 spots for $10 each. At first there was nobody else at the table. I first bought in for $125, lost it all in a hurry to a hot dealer. Saw another $150 buy-in shrink to $25. I told myself, "Self. If I lose another $100 I am out of here." Fortunately it never came to that point.

Soon the table started filling up. My luck also took a turn for the better. I recovered to an approximate $225-250 before the following hand happened. I had 2 hands, one of them at the anchor position, of 18 and 12 respectively, against a dealer 2 (hitting is better than standing by ~2%). Basic strategy calls for a hit on the 12. So I did that, got a 10 and busted out. The dealer then took a 8 and then 10 to form a strong 20. An unspectacular hand. The only thing that drove me nuts were some mid-age Chinese lady mumbled to her friend, "That guy (I) is out to lunch.....why is he hitting the freaking 12 against the 2?". Of course I firmly believed in my knowledge, and had some choice of word for her.

Soon afterward the following hand developed. I had 20 and 16 against a dealer 7. I hit a miracle 5 to my dismal 16, only to next see the dealer pick up a 5 and a 9, which killed everybody including my 20. Had I stayed on my 16 dealer would have hit 17 instead.

Of course that drew some ire from the players again. I decided that I had enough from these yahooes and switched to a new table, where my luck was okay -- won maybe $50 during my stay there. There was one fair-looking, I guess mid-20s, Asian girl sitting to my left. She played a standard (read: bad) style. Didn't double down 11 against 9/10. Unsure whether to split 2/2 against 4, until I "strongly advised" (read: told) her to do so. She wound up standing at 13 and 14, and fortunately dealer busted with 2 straight face cards (otherwise I might experience some heat again).

Next, the player left of her got a blackjack against the dealer Ace. She said, "nice, go take even money." I interrupted, "no that's bad play". She looked at me like I was an alien. I continued, "come on, just do the maths." She nodded, unsurely. Smiling, I added, "nobody ever believes in me, though." Fun time trying to educate the fish.

Her boyfriend next came to her and said, "Geez I lost everything. See that lady dealer over there -- she just cleaned everybody out." Sure enough there was an empty table in the middle of the room. Looking dearly for faster action, I moved. Obviously I don't believe in the theory of a hot table/hot dealer.

It was an inauspicious start. First hand there I had 20/20, dealer showed T and hit a blackjack. Second hand, 20/19 against the dealer's 6. Payday? No, dealer hit 9-6 to form 21.

No worries. She soon returned to earth, and I heated up dramatically with good starting hands. I started to play 3 hands instead of my usual 2. There was also a cheerful caucasian, I say early 30s woman, who just joined. Every time the dealer busted she would high-5 every winner at the table.

One hand my first cards were 6, T and 7. I was sad to see the dealer pick up a Q. But my second cards were 4, Q and 2 giving me 3 nice hands (10/20/9). From there I ran my hands to 18/20/19. Dealer picked up a 7. $$$$$$.

The next key hand, I had $10-$15-$15 on 20/19/12 against a dealer 3. I stuck to basic strategy and hit the 12, in the process raising some eyebrows (casual players, as usual, think the correct play is to stand, which is not true). I got a really nice 8. Next guy stood his 20. Dealer proceeded to draw K-3-9 to bust out. Had I stood on my 12 dealer would have gotten the dreaded 21. Woman invited a high-five. I smacked her really hard. She said "Wowowo don't hit me that hard I am not a man". "Come on, big play, big celebration." Everybody had a good time. The table atmosphere was great.

Afterwards I increased my bets on a few occasions based on card-counting, and each time I smoothly won out.

At the end I had a neat $700 in front of me. Coming back from behind really gave me a great feeling.

Here are the overall results:
July 25 +200
July 26 +200
July 27 +100
July 28 -100
July 31 +575
Aug 1 +325
Aug 2 -325
Aug 3 +75
Aug 4 +(somewhere between 300 and 700 can't remember)
Aug 5 +1000
Aug 6 +400

Damn, so much monies, don't know what to do.

Oh, BTW, I rebuilt my poker bankroll to $5600 with some solid play at NL100 full ring. Back in my NL25 full ring days I ran at 29/12. Nowadays I lowered that 29 to 22. That, followed by some better post-flop decisions, led to a winning record for the past 3 days. I'll post some hands later.

Session Review by DarkMigore, August 07

Since i suck at poker i'll post here about my sessions and hope that someone will help me. It's inspired on KingKory's blog, but it won't be so cute like his blog.

Here we go.

http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/8545/session7am7.jpg

Hands:
#1 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246553
This guy has 0.17 AF, never seen him betting this big. Ok to fold?

#2 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246554
PFR of this guy is +- 5, turn shove is bad IMO. Maybe i should raise the flop to see where i am.

#3 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246555
Fold river here? Turn bet is small, kinda slowplayed.

#4 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246558
PF raise is ok? I'm trying to expand my PF range. =/

so i helped a friend by nolan, August 07

so today i decided to help one of my friends who is struggling with 100nl by letting him watch me play. (he was playing like 13/9 with 19% att to steal blinds).

i'm happy to say it went very well.

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/8383/lolololiu2.jpg

LOLOLOL.

Probably the word run ever hahahaha. Lost AA vs TT and AA vs AK aipf, had QT vs AQ on QQT board die in flames to an A river, and lost TT aipf vs a half stack vs 47 when the board came 23456. Oh man it was brutal yet kind of funny.

Hope my buddy isn't too results oriented.

Another little session by DustySwedeDude, August 07

Since the last post gave me some good responses (Wobby might be right about something! ) I'll take another shot to post some hands from my morningsession.

Not that many fun hands, but I was up 1.5bi over like 550 hands so that's all good.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246259 - I have no idea about this hands, mostly like "I've goto a monster, ARRRRIN!!!!". Dunno if it's optimal.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246260 - That's pretty strange, total air or weak A wanting to know where he's at?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246261 - Except that I should've bet 13 on flop (my standard, must've missclicked) I really like this hand. He paid me off just because of my image.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246263 - Bad float by me, maybe I should fold pf. Or squeeze.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246262 - My bet size on the turn is really bad, but it might've induced that riverbet so that's nice.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246269 - I havn't done the math, but likey?

Edit: Also, apperently I'm known as a big fish on my server. That's pretty sweet for someone who has taken over 30k out of that site the last 7 months.

day &*%&^$$ by whamm!, August 07

well i just moved down to 25nl and i guess the bad runs are still there. won 2bi today and just stopped playing, i lost like 7 to 8 bi yesterday at 50nl so i guess ill just have make up for it by winning 287638276 bi at 25nl. im not complaining though, i guess ive been taking poker too seriously at this level, and a friend of mine is really really really right in saying that i play way too long sessions thats why i get these incredible swings. from now on ill play a decent amoutn like 2k to 3k hands a day and split it into two sessions like mornings and nights and never in the afternoons because the regulars are there during those hours and there are less fishy tables to play on at ftp during that time, not to mention that's where all my winnings go (seriously) argh sick life

p.s.
im really not a nice, well mannered person, and i will cease to pretend from now on. and to those who make fun of me all the time - i hope and pray you go busto and die

poker, a dream i had and rainkhan by byrnesam, August 06

First order of business, some rare poker news.

Brag: rolled for nl25
Beat: taken me far too long to hold on to a bankroll
Variance: 5 hours of playing on the final run

So now i can really start ballin' wit all kinds of mad shit.

things to do:
- buy pokertracker
- learn how to use it
- ball out

---------

The post-session dreams i had:

I had a dream which involved JonnyCosMo. Hed told me he had been on a website about photoshopping and it had suggested he emailed me for help or another guy called Anonagram.

I went and found this Anonagram and he was in this mad cult. We were all in a field and Anonagram got kicked out the cult coz he didnt have a dad. I was against cults and soon the leader started fighting me.

I run off

Cut scene then and its me and CosMo playing basketball (I swear this is true) against the cult.

Cosmo was pretty good i can remember he scored at least 6 points, meanwhile id only managed a lay-up for 2. They deffinatly had more players than us though.

I also had a dream about Werzal Gummage looking down at me from a hole in the ceiling

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/ilove/years/1979/images/gummidge173.jpg

He looked way scarier though. It was really wierd coz i completely froze when i saw him with fingers in my mouth clenching down on them.

------

a picture of me, chairhattin'.

I was kind of shy about posting a picture of myself but then i thought it cant be any worse than milkmans

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2628/chairhattingbt7.jpg
It fitted gooooood

I'm a bad player, but I am still working on it. by lolgiraffe, August 06

Such a frustrating day. I should be stuck probably 3 buyins, but luckily I'm only down $11 dollars. Still, when you're up over 3 buyins in the first 300 hands, and by 1000, you end down, somethings fucked up.

I'm really really focusing on improving right now, but man this game can be frustrating. Here are some key hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246152 - Villians VPIP is really high, like 60s. I'm never good here, horrible play by me. I almost feel check fold is correct on the turn, but I know thats me being a pussy and results oriented.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246153 - This guy is solid but very passive. My river bet is so bad its rediculous. I should of just check called or check folded. I think betting the turn is mandatory.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246154 - Really misplayed this draw. I thought the turn would be a good spot to try and take the pot and it failed. My call was terrible, but I thought he'd stack regardless of what pegged the river if I hit. Bad assumption, and bad play.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246156 - This player has a huge range and is very passive. I probably should of just checked turn so I can pick off a river bluff. A 4 is totally in his range here.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246157 - So, I've talked to a few people on this one and most people say this is always AA or KK. I've never taken the limp minraise line as a monster, but more of a small to medium PP based off of what I've seen and the playback at my image. I heard multiple people say huge hand, (AA most likely), so my thought of fold equity is very bad here. Very poor play, good result. He ended up having a hand which I should have FE against, but he made a good call I guess. I luck box for a buyin.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/246160 - This is very situational based. I don't know how I feel. I had a read, and I went with it. However, the best players I know are saying this is pretty terrible. I really trust their input so I think I got lucky and caught someone with their hand in the cookie jar, but either way it isn't winning long term just like with the Ad4d hand I have no fold equity so that too is bad.

Here is a thread on LP about the JJ hand: http://www.liquidpoker.net/informatio...JJ_in_RR_Pot_vs_Frustrated_(se...html

So over the hands.....

I'm really disapointed. I'm trying very hard to be as successful as my friends and peers but something isn't going right. Maybe I played these right, I don't know. We'll see what you guys have to say.

Of course, its pretty hard to compare myself to my friends when all of them are outstanding. I guess I should be taking that as a blessing rather than trying to feel sorry for myself.

Side note: Listen to the new saigon, it defines hot fire.

Maybe poker is not for me... by DarkMigore, August 06

I keep making stupid mistakes, that cost me the whole session.
Like this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/245898

And a few second later, reviewing it, i see that i played it very bad. Is just the heat of the moment and those mistakes screw everything up.

Todays session by NeillyJQ, August 06

I started the day off on NL10 not too hot, and lost a buy-in in less than 5 minutes. After that I started playing very well.

I've taken all sooted hands out of my arsenal except for on the button, and sometimes on the co with great implied odds.
I've also removed hands like JK in LP, AT in LP, and alot of other marginal hands I was playing.

My winrate is back to where it was a few months ago, before I was taking shots on NL100-NL200.

My strategy had changed slightly everyday on NL100 and NL200 until the change in strategy became leaks, which I'm trying to fix now, so I can become a solid NL50 player to stay.

Heres my stats from todays session;

1st session;

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 1063 hands and saw flop:
- 63 out of 140 times while in big blind (45%)
- 20 out of 137 times while in small blind (14%)
- 63 out of 786 times in other positions (8%)
- a total of 146 out of 1063 (13%)
Pots won at showdown - 17 of 35 (48%)
Pots won without showdown - 79

2nd session;

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 1540 hands and saw flop:
- 102 out of 208 times while in big blind (49%)
- 35 out of 209 times while in small blind (16%)
- 93 out of 1123 times in other positions (8%)
- a total of 230 out of 1540 (14%)
Pots won at showdown - 36 of 60 (60%)
Pots won without showdown - 132

Going to take the rest of the night off,

GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe)

Hands and some stats by DustySwedeDude, August 06

So I've played like 1k hands/day so far in August and I'm back at NL200. I hope to be rolled for NL400 again in maybe 6 weeks or so and I won't cash out like a tool anymore. Here's some stats and hands. I'd love comments:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/245760 - BvB 3 barrel
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/245651 - semibluff deep (I really felt that he can't stack of with an overpair here so I might even try this with air)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/245047 - God, ppl are dumb.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/245792 - Retard who doesn't understand metagame.

http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6047/augustcr3.jpg

Overall I think I'd like to play some more hands and reraise more pf.
