I have watched Episode 2 a second time now.

Well i have to admit my expectations where sky high.
For Season 7 i basically
expected the Great War between the superpowers of westeros breake lose in the most epic ways possible.

Total War would be a season name perfetcly fitting for what i wanted Season 7 to be.

I expected hughe and long battles with lots of strategy and tactics for most of the season
The storylines of the main characters will after a long journey now all come together and merge in the most epic war ever
The emphasis will shift from individual characters towards the great picture as a whole


But now after 2 episodes i think its just not gonna happen the way i imagined it.
There will be some battles ,
there will be some wars to some extend ...
but mainly they will continue the showing of the stories of the main characters.

Its not about Westeros and the Great Wars
Its a bout the feelings , emotions and individual stories of : Jon Snow , Danny, Cersei and Arya Stark
There will not be change to that


I just realize how fucking insane Breaking Bad was concerning that matter.
Breaking bad startet small and steadly increased the picture as a whole.
It got bigger and bigger and more tense and more dramatic every Season.

And it errupted in an epic ending

Game of Thrones is a good show and epic and all... but from a progressing Storyline point of view its just not as well written as Breaking Bad

Hard to compare both. GoT has 4-5 different cores of group of characters and like 20-30 important characters. Very hard to control the series once it became so huge. Still I find the show very enjoyable and try to have my expectations not so high because the story could be written in several different ways. It's very hard that the writers will do it in the most optimal way. Also if they did focus more on huge battles (which would be awesome I agree with you), they would definitely lack depth in the individual character areas and some would complain about that as well. I just think the world became way too big for both TV and Books.

hell I think they're going to fuck this up for me, wars will be these short ass affairs (like that war in ep 2)and girl power a.k.a "women are great leaders too" routine will be rubbed in our faces for 5 episodes.

yeah, the world was ruled by rich white old men in medieval times, and still largely true today but with exceptions lol. It is kinda strange to put so many women in charge, but then there were queens/female leaders like elizabeth or mary, joan of arc so i guess this show isn't deviating much from history to have female rulers battling it out. ...i Havnt studied medieval history. I guess this show isn't meant to be historical, completely.

I think we can blame Hollywood for being tired of action/fighting scenes. Too many shitty fighting movies with perfect, accurate and loooong action scenes (sometimes the entire movie) but with a uninteresting storyline.

Ya dumb cunts, the story is what makes GoT interesting, not generic ass battles like the one in last episode. Battle of the Bastards was a different story but I don't care for fights in the dark where you can barely see anything. Makes for lazy action as the show can get away with a lot because it's goddamn midnight.

The battles in these books are absolutely insane

I dont want stupid Action / fighting

I want the tactical aspects and strategys of war shown in a more depth way...
more like in a commentated RTS match

I thought Euron got stabbed like 3 separate times fighting the sand snakes. Couldn't see fuck all.

the battle in the water in the last episode was one of the poorest scenes ever in the series ... i dont care about the battles either, but if you are gonna do something do it right

i thought it was short and sweet and showed the point that Euron is the most powerful at sea. He just squashed them in few minutes

Episode 3 was good, but none of the first 3 episodes have been much longer than usual. Only about 8 minutes at most has been added to each episode thus far.
