Chances they are not real are pretty high
They will start filming in October 2017 which is still 1 month to go
I dont think there is any reliable spoilers before summer 2018

Season 7 had some great moments and some strong episodes
But overall it was by far not as satisfying as previous season.

When there was a brief moment of a possible Jamie vs the Mountain fight with possible death of either or both of them.
I realized whats so different this season.

yep... now we have last-minute saves for all characters, very hollywoodesque and to keep the "anyone can die" line they kill Petyr Baelish in an anticlimatic silly way, it is very evident that the writting quality has gone down a lot

There were some good twists:

- Freys got killed at the start (although nobody even mentioned it afterwards which sucked)
- Euron fucked up those ships and killed Sand Snakes
- Dragon got killed
- Little Finger got killed

Freys death was cool indeed

And then... Euron slaughtering the Sand Snakes was super retarded and random, Little Finger's death was poorly executed and everyone I know was expecting for a dragon to die, just not that way, which added some value

The thing is they got split too far away from the books and now there's no turning back. Guessing they thought they could create the same atmosphere George RR Martin did, and they were obviously wrong.

At least George RR Martin has an illustration of what not to do. I wonder if he watches the episodes just shaking his head. Could be some inspiration to keep the magic going in his books. It is one thing to be a highly imaginative and inventive writer that has as many pages to work with as he likes and ball-less, in over their head writers trying to fit some story to be pleasing into a small amount of 50ish min episodes. We don't want "pleasing" we want Game of fucking Thrones. They are missing the mark. Reverting to Fantasy Bullshit 101 and some Magnificent 7 type of story and all the rest it's fucking bullshit.

Martin never tried to be unpredictable for the sake of it imo, it was always about breaking genre cliches that he thought were silly. We were shocked because we were taking those cliches for granted. As we reach the end of a huge story it's unavoidable that the surprises are going to be fewer. But this isn't a "surprise the audience" competition. If John Snow really died back at the wall stabbing that would be surprising, but it would make a really shitty overall story ark(plot armor exists for a reason). If Cersei killed Jaime with the Mountain in that scene it would be shocking indeed but it also would be a mediocre ending to Jaimie's story ark. Martin even foreshadows heavily what's going to happen in the books so anyone paying close attention would be surprised only rarely.

Obv the showrunners know where the plot has to go, but not how to do it right. Or they don't care that much. They emphasize on aspects they find important like awesome cgi/ effects but prob don't get many of the subtle stuff that made previous seasons awesome.I don't really QQ about the drop in quality because even if the show is worse it still is top tier (lots of shitty shows out there), we get to know what will happen in the books and in a few years time we can read how it happens correctly

new shit has come to light... a-and... shit! man...

Idk guys, when Sansa said how do you respond to these accusations...Lord Baelish, I was pretty surprised. So used to her being an easily manipulated cunt that it was nice to see her stand up to the man who fucked her whole family up now that she figured it out. I was genuinely worried for Arya when she came in the room. Think you guys are just scared that it's ending in a season and nitpicking lol. I mean yeah, some of these characters not dying is like "wow, cmon he would have never gotten away there." But if you think about the way the entire show has gone, I bet all of you were genuinely worried about each of those characters dying in those scenes still because of all of the death that has happened to main characters. I think they're still doing a really good job, and now they can actually use some of the heroes surviving cliches because we are all set up to expect the worst.

A huge problem was the decision to finish the series in just 13 episodes over two seasons. I can understand the idea behind having the final season(s) as a dessert, where you're getting less but supposedly enjoying it more, but that doesn't really work for this genre, and this story in particular. We were promised a long grueling winter, its impossible for that to come and go in six episodes. Besides the night king and the white walkers, Cersei is still a player, and the lord of light is/should be a major factor when he (or whatever it is) is involved in the resurrection of the most central character. Even though the show has lost its edge due to mediocre writing (have to agree with the above video in both content and tone), its just not possible to conclude all the story lines in a dramatic way in such a short period of time.

Maybe they will conclude it with a start of war, start of winter and then just say refer to the walking dead for continuation

My guess is Bran had something to do with Sansa figuring stuff out.

eh.. no
Jon, Daenerys, Bran, Arya, Jamie, and Tyrion are completely safe until the last season and the same goes for the books. The whole plot is based upon them, if any of them dies George RR Martin would be cutting his leg off. You cannot kill too many main characters, after all, so no during the scene with Sansa- Littlefinger my exact thought process was "if this bitch now accuses Littlefinger this will be the lamest "plot twist" ever as it is predictable and shallow"

The conversations are super weak too - when Tyrion s going to speak with Cersei with people telling him "oh noes she might kill you" ... no she can't and all of them are aware of it and Cersei is aware of it as well, cause if she kills him King's Landing will be demolished in about 30 minutes. The biggest plot twist for me would be if Rhaegar really named his second son Aegon as well in the books, but something tells me the writers of the show fucked up completely there.

Another thing that made no sense is Euron not killing Yara. I'm guessing that the whole slaughter of the Dorne snakes is something the writers of the show simply decided to do, to simply ignore Dorne, which otherwise has one of the biggest armies on the continent... as we saw there was nothing regarding Dorne the whole season. They just cut off half the world for no reason. And they fucking decided to bring in the Golden Sons now, even though they should've done that 2 seasons ago. Their decisions are simply poor and I'm definitely not watching the prequel they're thinking about doing after GoT s done.

Spoiler alert

Ye I agree with Spitfiree that the conversations are a little weak lately. I think they will be much better in the book (if it ever comes)

I could not enjoy the Little Finger scene cause the whole short story leading to that scene ( Sansa and Arya hating each other) was so stupid.

I also agree with Spitfire towards any prequels or sequels.
I will not watch them since i dont want to destroy my overall love for GoT.

I am even semi afraid of Season 8
I am quite a bit afraid they will butcher it for some major parts.....

GoT 1-6 has been brilliant
GoT 7 overall was very good

Still a noticable decline in quality

I mean the show is still good, except the bar it set was so fucking high. I'm not okay with dull, shallow conversations and act developments. I have no clue how will they manage to finish it in 6 episodes unless each is 90minutes or something and it would still be quite hard. I'm guessing the living will begin getting demolished and someone will throw a Hail Mary and kill the Night's KIng, and thus all walkers will die, leading to Jamie trying to make amends with Cersei but will end up cutting her head off. I sincerely hope that won't happen, but my expectations are that low. Obviously, Jon or Daenerys suicides while killing the Night's King including some Stark, leading to Bran revealing something "plot twisty" - thus having that bittersweet end.

Not quite sure how to describe it but, George RR Martin isn't playing by the rules, and the new writers tried to do exactly that, except they fell into the trap of "well nobody would expect that" type of script, where they did the most obvious "plot twists" like many other shows do. Then again, the show isn't really about the plot twists but rather the individual characters and their development, however, they managed to butcher a shit ton of them in this season.

I'm concerned with what Lionsgate will do with Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles too. The Dark Tower series are already butchered hard, unfortunately.
