I still visit LP because of its community of people. It has the few remaining old school players from Starcraft 1 that I used to talk to and/or played sc1 with.

If poker never corrupted many of the "cool" old school sc1 players and took them away from the game, I wouldn't be on a poker-related website like LP in 2016, as I stopped gaming in 2009 and have never thought about going back.

I used to be a little mad/annoyed at Nazgul when he essentially left his Starcraft 1 website back in the day to launch his poker website with Meat (his previous website wasn't the same when he left). However, looking back on his decision, it ended up being a good choice, as his poker website allowed me to keep in touch with several people from sc1 that I would've lost contact with over the years.

The fact that it's small is probably its biggest strength at this point. People know who they are likely to interact with by posting here. In other words, it's the familiarity of it that I think keeps people around.

I mean most of the users that are still here are quite interesting and always back up their shit well. I'd say the content here has good value. However this is not a poker community anymore, probably never will be again, considering how things @ poker market are developing, however even if the market expands, the core users will still not be poker related

Some people that used to post here several years ago still lurk these forums...

One time I got a PM from a lurker and I hadn't checked LP.net for like 2 weeks because I was on vacation. He asked for some help regarding tech and I responded eventually, but he never replied. I think he just left LP.net thinking I'm an asshole for not getting back to him, feels bad man.

I also find the occasional poker news update is pretty useful since I never get poker news anywhere else. Props to defrag.

Last time I talked to him (a few years ago now it must be) he was living in Japan on a working visa, with a girl he met there (I think? can't remember). Pretty cool.
