Dusty Schmidt is one of the biggest drains on the online poker community. His exploits have been very well documented online. If you don't know the kind of shade ball this guy is, it doesn't take much to look it up on the internet and find out how much of a piece of scum he is.

I let him know this in one of his video releases on BFP. He then went ahead to say "I'd have no problem playing you but you probably couldn't afford the stakes I play," obvious words from a true asshole.

So I see him at the tables a few weeks later and say "hey Dusty, let's 4 table 10/20nl HU. He obviously doesn't respond and as soon as the fish leaves the table he leaves as well.

Dusty likes to pick on Phil Hellmuth. He thinks because he has some notoriety that he deserves to pick on other weaker players, so why shouldn't the same thing be done to him? Some of his strategy concepts are idiotic, so much so that I'd be willing to lay 12k to his 10k that I beat him over a 20k hand 4 tabling match at 5/10nl.

See if he continues to back down.

also, maybe he thinks im a bum. but ya, chances r he doesn't respond ...my best action at that point would probly be to write a book to pick apart his game the same way he did to hellmuth. i'd whoop his ass in this challenge, i would've been comfortable laying more than 1.2-1. but he's got millions in the bank from poker, i don't, so for him to even think he needs more than that to play someone like me would be pretty pathetic.

"Arrival10, the ethics of the games at Merge are so bad, admittedly I started leaving tables quickly as well after spending months frustrated that everyone else was doing the same. At some point it got to where if you were the decent guy, then you got taken advantage of with the button stealing etc. However, your assertion that I don't play you, while true in some cases if I have too many tables and can't handle a HU table, is simply not true. I will happily accept your action anytime you want. Probably not at the stakes you frequent mostly, but if you are looking for a higher stakes HU match, then just say the word. Dsticks - Great point. I will keep that in mind."

its dependent on how much money i have on the site we decided to play. i'd assume we'd play on WPN. given that, i don't wanna play higher than 5/10 if it's for 20k hands. if it was on another site i'd consider playing 10/20 w/ a larger side bet.

marshal you got the mentality to be "the" poker player, who only wants to play the best and learn how to be the best, but i mean some guys just dont give a fck about you and your "quest", so its a little stupid to be mad if they give you the F word

I read a blog recently Phil Galfond wrote about the topic of bumhunters and how it is ruining the community. IMO, I think for short-term economic purposes, sticking to playing lesser players is better. However, long term skill growth and future earnings probably leans towards playing a mix of good and bad players(I have no experience in this btw, just pure theory)

coincedence I'm reading his book ''treat your poker like a business''. Maybe if you would've read his book, you'd understand more about his gameplan. It makes nothing but sense to sit next to bad players and table select good. As far as his book about Phil Hellmuth, I think it's just to draw more attention to his book (perceived from a business aspect). It worked, since negative attention is still beter than none. I don't think he is as bad as a guy as you describe him.

lol the guy has been successful in two distinct fields, he executes an approach to playing poker that focuses on maximising the amount of money he can win for his effort, who gives a fuck about challenging this guy to a battle of skills? I read his book years ago and it was great because it reminded me how life skill-deficient most twentysomething poker players are; the guy will keep making money at poker while many better players will (for one reason or another) have nothing to show for it.

theres nothing wrong with being a bumhunter. nobody gives a shit that leatherass is a bumhunter. what everyone hates is the fact that he would go around demeaning people who made less money than him in poker and acting like he was gods gift to poker.

i remember him insulting irockhoes cause leatherass had made 3 mill from poker and irock hadnt. irock came in and posted screenshots of him playing thousands of hands with leatherass overall but only playing a few hands of heads up. every regular clearly thought irock was the better player but leatherass had a higher winrate and played more hands so he had more money in the bank.

marshall randomly flinging shit and neilly going bust, such frequent certainties in LP life that they are comforting.

Researchers used brain scans to show that when straight men looked at pictures of women in bikinis, areas of the brain that normally light up in anticipation of using tools, like spanners and screwdrivers, were activated.

i think Marshall is good for poker.

these challenges are what its all about.

if everyone minded their own business then there would be no poker game. ego and personality are going to come into it. someone has to be better than the other and you must battle to find out.

i hope this goes down and i hope marshall wins a ton from leatherass.

i try to make it interesting.

maybe i should write a book w/ all the hands he and i have played and talk about how he played them.

theres probably no chance he accepts this, im not even sure he'd accept if i offered my 20k to his 10k.

marshall crushed last match vs. zach. I think issuing challenges and coming off as a headcase is plus ev as well, since it doesnt seem to affect his game.

if i were trying to get action out of a perceived weaker player by trying to challenge his ego, not sure i'd go after the guy who's made a career out of having staggeringly disciplined game selection. but whatever i guess.

This is probably the first time I agree with what Marshall does so it means something.

Leatherass is

1. A bumhunter who prides himself in not actually trying to do his part in keeping games going and such.
2. Annoying.
3. Wants attention as a "good player" to get money from books, teaching or whatever.

Any somewhat healthy group of people needs to try and get rid of the guy and make sure to make fun of him and generally make him feel uncomfortable. The poker world would be better without him so whatever is bad for Leatherass is a good thing for poker. If I had a somewhat legal way of making him go broke and never be able to play again I'd snap take it.

Most winning regs does their part to start game, not snap-sit-out, make sure to keep the games fun etc. Leatherass does not. That's why everyone needs to take every opportunity to mess with him.

if you've read a lot of my other stuff and you agree with this, you likely misunderstood where i was coming from in other situations.

i say that because this is at the heart of my beliefs. if i see a wrong and i have any power to right it, i will try to do so.

i think it just comes off as attention-whoring to some people which is why they might not like my internet persona. but what do i care about that? it's the internet.

if people can't handle somebody being real they probably can't stand to look at themselves in the mirror. there's no way they'd be cool enough to be one of my friends anyways.

Butt here I agree with him 100%. Its not just that leather@ss is a huge bumhunter and former shortstacker, its that he mass markets his game-ruining strategy to stroke his own ego.

iakim322   United States. Jan 29 2013 15:50. Posts 1335

Yada yada yada. Yeah. Bumhunters suck. But still, pretty insulting to Joe Rogan and Nate Diaz to compare this guy with them. Pretty darn insulting

chris   United States. Jan 29 2013 17:55. Posts 5506

i think it is a bit ridiculous how people say "oh ill play you anytime" and request a higher stake than marshall's as a deterrent. Marshall snap calls and still no match.

When is the wobbly match? isnt that supposed to go down?

leatherass says he wasnt dodging and would play anytime. match?

why doesnt anyone else seem to care at the dodging? if someone is going to stroke his own ego and then put himself on a pedestal as far as the industry as a whole, fine. but to then partially instigate and then accept a challenge and dodge it? shouldnt he have to at least buy out for some amount? (maybe thats reaching a bit, but still).

No. That was different. I was angry and issued a challenge I never intended to honor (or I'd honor it until I lost a pot or got tilted). I knew that it wouldn't be accepted either. So I got off a little steam and laughed a little.

The times I'm talking about are usually where I'm responding and get the other dude to issue HU challenges or 1v1s. They'd set up tables and keep asking why I'm not joining. Pretty funny.

tom's always been a pretty cool dude as far as i could tell, don't even see why someone would do any of this. i guess u r just either not particularly smart or just a sad individual.

you are clearly someone of very low character if you are purposefully issuing challenges you never intend on honoring.

gl with this marshall, but he 100% won't play you and definitely is doing the pansy move of offering high(ish?) stakes because inside he hopes you'll back down from them.

i understand your frustrations but everyone who has a clue knows the guy is a pansy and is terrified of playing competent people so your efforts are probably in vain.

and...

you rly dont know who joe rogan is wtf?

thx nolan

i know the chances he plays are very small, so i wasn't really worried about it either way. the point of this was i keep my rep and he looks bad in front of a lot of people for trying to scare me into backing down when he rly had no intention of playing either way. it obviously shows to anyone w/ half a brain that he cares how good other people think he is but isn't willing to prove it and look even worse if he's wrong and loses--otherwise why bother w/ some stupid charade like this? this way i can expose him, so whether he accepts or not it seems like a win to me.

ofc i know who he is, i was joking
