Finally my Samsung 305t is crapping out. The thing just flickers dark shadows whenever I turn it on now so I just disconnected it and am playing only on my 24" LG. The resolution is not very good and I can't really fit more than 4-6 tables on there comfortably.

I need to get a new setup. I looked at the 30" monitors available and they all seem to be >$900. I don't think it's worth it to spend that much money just to get an extra 3 inches when the 27's are significantly cheaper. I've never played on a 27 before though. Do you guys have any experience doing so? If you have, which monitors would you recommend? I'm thinking about getting 2 27s.

Your not paying for 3 extra inches, your paying for extra resolution.

I do agree 30'' monitors are pretty expensive but they are a lot better than the 27'' ones for sure.

its not like i mass multi table .. .but i multi-site a lot and its kinda annoying dealing with all the lobbies and stuff on just 1 monitor ... maybe i only need 1 30 and keep my 24

the dell series is really good IMO, I got a 27 inch dell myself. when I was looking for a new monitor it was between the 30 or the 27 inch one, I figured it wasnt realy worth the money for the 30 inch since you can almost buy 27 inch ones for that money, which is much better resolution wise I think.

you will regret not getting the 30", the different is huge.

i had the samsung 30 before it also malfunctioned after like 2 years. now i have the dell, its great so far

Got a 27 inch DELL and it's great I think. Never played on a 30 inch though.

got 30" 3007wfp dell and it's pretty damn good, you can eaisly watch movies/tv shows on it,
but I bought it before you could resize on any site (maybe it was possible on stars, but I played somewere else then),
these days you could easily go with 27''.

also if you could attach second monitor just for lobbies (I had 20" 204b samsung for it), on the main monitor you can 9 table almost without any resizing.

^^ +1 on the dell

your gonna crap your pants when you see the resolution, it puts 1080p to shame. I can't even use regular monitors anymore, they all feel pixelated

If that doesn't matter to you + if you plan on spending many hours in front of your computer (as we all do) you can look into something that goes above the conventional 60HZ apparently the higher the refresh rate the easier it is on your eyes

Whatever you do, don't get a 27inch, it makes everything ugly.

Seeing you guys dissing 27 inch monitors, and realizing that I have 17inch one feels pretty weird.

17 inch will actually look decent because the resolution is good for its size, but when you stretch out that same resolution on a 27inch it will look pixilated (similar to stretching am image in paint)

just looked at 27 and 30 inch monitors. the 30 inch monitors are like $900 more than the 27 inch ones. Insane.

just get the thirty, go all in

I did it all. I settled on 1 30. Personal preference. 1 20 for all the clients + hu waiting + 1 30 for the owning was alright but at times for me I just wanted all my consciousness on 1 screen. I would recommend any professional to trial at least 1 30.

it appears the 3007wfp is no longer being sold.

dell is offering the U3011 for 1400. i assume that one is good?

... i dont get it, when i bought my samsung 30" it was like 450 bux.

Mariuslol   Norway. Dec 14 2012 21:14. Posts 4742

Yea, ive been so much in front of the pc, with all kinds of screens. The most awful time spent was with a 27, it gets dragged all jicky out, it feels more blurry. Often when u do random things, stuff just doesn't fit. Juach, shit.

I recommend that 100$ more expensive version of BenQ for gaming, they have a version which has like 10 options on it (in addition to the normal stuff).

So when you're playing fps games, you can make the screen to a 17, 19, 22, or use 24. In addition to that, there's a setting for every genre, so if you're playing SC/BW or Sc2, you can put on FPS, and if ur into rpg, diablo, wow etc, there's an mmo feature, and the graphic adapts, and it becomes really pretty compared to a normal 24.

We tested it with a land when D3 released, and the two other guys brought their 24's and we were all cheering and rooting for my awesome 24!!

And most of the time I just use the 30, and it does feel a lot more comfortable to juse have 1 screen, so I only have one. Reason I didn't recommend the one I have is because ive had it for ages, it's this one

http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-W3000H-lcd-monitor

And I just assume there is a lot more better/newer options out there. But it's awesome. Not seen anyone that can match how pretty I can get it when I put things to max. And I can have 9 tables all big and comfortable yay.

27" Catleaps are 2560x1440 resolution, as opposed to some of the other 27" monitors that only support 1920x1080 res. You can get them off eBay for like $350. By far the best bang for your buck.

If money is not a big deal and you're not big on video games, go ahead and get the U3011 (2560x1600 16:10) or U2711 (2560x1440 16). I'm not sure how tables stack for the 30", but when I would play on Stars, the 16:10 resolution would leave and empty space on the bottom of my screen, so it's not like I was using the extra real estate. Movies also usually play on 16 res, so keep that in mind.

You need 2 monitors, 1 just doesn't cut it if you are constantly watching lobbys, I have one dell 30'' for 2 years and it's amazing but not enough, just couple months ago I upgraded to 2, the second one is just 24 and I use it vertical to keep track of the lobbys.

...what an incredible idea.. I can't believe I never thought of this. I have an old 24 lying around which I never thought I would use - now have a reason to bring it back

Fix for Samsung 305t crapping out (not sure if I'm gonna attempt this or just try to find a samsung repair center since I am in Korea afterall:

The Samsung 305t's problem is that the processing chip (iirc Altera) literally melts off the PCB. Solution is to bake the PCB and make sure the monitor has active cooling. People have documented this solution so you can try it for yourself if you want to.

Hm.. Off-suite socks..

MARSHALL28   United States. Dec 19 2012 12:54. Posts 1904

i dont really have a clue what any of that means. i have to bake a pcb? huh
