Bleh so tilted at our healthcare system. I'm a broke college student and I need an x-ray on my hand since it seems the knuckle hasn't healed after 6weeks. Its still like 175% normal size and painful.

Introductory cost $310 dollars plus tax to see a doctor and get an x-ray.

Obviously I'll just be one of the millions without access to healthcare who will pay the price throughout my life for things like this I couldn't afford to get treated. My country and society will pay the price in my lifetime's lessened productivity if I become depressed over the state of my body or if this heals into some kind of arthritis and I can't use my right hand for any god damn thing.

I heard about some thing where you can go to the emergency room and get in and out real cheap, but I obv don't want to carry about 1k more in debt so I can have a cheap visit now.. but I heard it doesn't work like that so.. anyone know about this system?

At least I'll be able to get in and out of a mediocre mid-level college with only $40k in debt ROFL fuck you America.

Fuck you.

ps. luckily I have family that isn't completely broke and willing to help me with this but.. ugh I don't want to burden em.

I've asked, there's absolutely no student healthcare where I'm at , when I transfer to the primary university next semester I'm sure they have it and I'll definitely be looking into it.

I'll try for medicare but from what I hear with foodstamp programs here in Florida is that you apply and then they never get back to you and the stndrd procedure is to re-apply every couple of months until they find your papers in the clusterfuck they're in because their funding has been wildly slashed. Going to go google about medicaid now though.. I think its a federal program anyway.

Huff that sounds awful =[

I just had a surgery a month ago, payed 25 dollar, which is what I pay no matter what I do at a hospital.
And if you ever get a total bill of all your visits combined to over 250 dollar, you get rest of the year free, that includes doctor visits too. Stupid that a country like America is so broken in many areas.

Well they aren't "deliberately" creating debt in the students but good colleges are definitely expensive and unless you have parents who have been saving up a college fund since you were born you're probably going to have to take out some sort of student loan which can be hard to pay back later. I'd say that stills sucks.

well dunno, here in Hungary the goverment pays all your education from elementary through university (there are private ones but the elite ones are public and paid aswell)
same with the healthcare, everyone can get himself checked basicly for free. It's another story that medicines are expensive as hell.

i think its extremely pathetic that no matter how good/talented you are you cant get into the best universites if you dont have enough money. Equal opportunites right?

This is what you get with a "for-profit" healthcare system. I dont know why so many support this system, yet are totally cool with all other socialized services. I wouldnt even object if I could just go into any hospital at any time and receive any treatment as part of my "monthly bill". But after paying absurd premiums, you still have ridiculous deductibles, which recycle every year lol, and a board of people actively deciding whether or not to even cover your claims regardless of the thousands upon thousands of dollars you dump to them throughout your life. It's really quite gross. I think I pay something like $256/month, of which my employer ALSO contributes about $268/month, for my entire life, at which point they can still tell me to go fuck myself if I ever need to use their services lol.

I'm pretty sure the only people who support america's healthcare system are fucking idiots who think their employers "provide it for them".

bye now

Yes, blame America because you didn't work hard enough throughout your life to afford health care. Yes, it's America's fault.
