FR going bad, trying out 6max a bit by rogier, January 30

erm yeah. after being a 4 PTBB winner at .5/1 last year over a 135k sample, somehow i just couldnt win so far this year. maybe it's because i did not play for a month, maybe it's because i'm a station, maybe because i'm not making every decision while thinking about it deeply enough, maybe it's because i do not care

aaanyway, results @fullring this month: $-240 over 11k hands or something.
feels horrible considering people horribly suck at poker at this level, but apparently i'm worse.

soooo after 5betting allin with AK vs a cold 4bet @fr while i was in early position(and mucking to the obvious AA) i decided it was time for a little change.

So i leaped into a more aggro game - 100nl 6max.
In the past I've always had problems in 6max, probably was too nitty and bad at handreading etc. I probably still suck pretty hard - but at least I have the feeling 100nl 6max is pretty beatable.

http://666kb.com/i/b608kpbv5c9xyjlp4.jpg
(yes i did run $250 above expectation in allins, and im afraid this ptbb/100 isnt sustainable)
might stick around at this level for a short time, while moving to 200nl(either fullring or 6max depending on my mood) around half of february.

6max is refreshing, aggressive and fucking fun to play compared to fullring.
I like it :D

How Long Do Your Sessions Last? by AutumnSolace, January 30

Just wondering.

I keep doing like 100-200 handed sessions over 5 tables recently, which is really short. Not enough time to get a read on opponents but I'm doing NL2 so it is not like I really need them. I don't have a HUD or anything though, but hoping to buy one when I get enough money. So far I've been noticing the more I stay at the same tables the more I tend to lose. Most of my successful sessions are when I hit about 250BB and leave. This probably isn't the same as you move up, but just wondering how you all play.

the good and the bad by k2o4, January 30

Good: played 1,500 hands.

bad: break even entire time till last 100 hands where I lost 3 buyins really fast.

Good: Cleared the bonus

Bad: didn't realize I'd cleared it until after getting killed in those hands, and I probably coulda quit the session break even.

Good: 4 times I got stacked were all coolers

Bad: got coolered 4 times! wtf! it's friday and I can't find any fish to donate?? god damn!

lol anyway, cashed out $1,500 which left my BR @ 4,800. My morning session ended well with me @ $5,200. Lost 1 Bi @ NL200 and 2 bi @ NL100. oh well. hopefully tomorrow goes better!

January Final (~20k!) by PanoRaMa, January 30

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/jan09final.png

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/janstats.png

Technically my January isn't done because I hope to bink some sunday tournaments (OOPS NVM), but as far as cash this is as far as I'll go for the month because I LOVE the feeling of ending on a great note. Combined with my 12k tourney luckbox win, this makes it roughly a ~19k win on the month w/ rb and with tournament loss deductions, and my best month to date. Thank god for that tournament too, don't know how satisfied I'd be if I just ended on 6.5k.

Also for those that have kept up with my blog, 2 months ago I wrote about how I made 10k in a day (yay tourneys), but also got "dumped" that weekend by the girl I liked for 2 years. On January 15th we got together though . So Overall this month has been REALLY fucking good both poker-wise and RL-wise. I wanted to get in a ton more hands but it's pretty hard with a gf etc . 45k is still pretty decent though I suppose.

Something that's really going to help with my grinding is that I'm starting to experiment with 12 table 6max grinding. Mixed results so far, but overall decent I would say. It allows me to get in like 4k hands a day without really feeling that burnt out, and it also allows me to not level myself as much. I'm not even playing that nitty, still roughly 24/20, sometimes like 22/18. Will be 12 tabling the shit out of February I'll keep updating about that.

GL everyone!

dealing with running bad by Orome, January 30

A question for all the veterans, how do you react to a session full of bad beats/coolers?

I've been running sick bad for the last 10 days and I'm wondering whether you learn to just shrug that off eventually, because a life where you're down every other day because you lost a few buyins can't be a lot of fun.

Some funny old graphs and complete new start. by ConquistadoR, January 30

Warning : Long text.

Ok I have been thinking a lot during the last few days, and I came to the conclusion that I really need help. I think my biggest problem is my ego/tilt problems , and I always think that I somehow deserve to win or etc JUST because i used to win a few years ago, but I wasn't thinking alot about my game and I also refrained from discussing hands for a long time. But this will change now. I will give myself a last try, if I really shouldnt succeed until May/June, I will stop playing poker totally. Because the effort and time is definately not worth it anymore, and I seem to have wrong illusions. ( I tend to think things like, I can get back on track, maybe I'll become a semi-solid winner again and stuff like that, but thats not going to happen if I dont change my view and my whole approach to the game. )

I started playing poker in 2005 basically, playing some freerolls, then I started playign with 5$ that I got on PS and started playing seriously around the end of 2005. I have made good money right from the start, and I learned a lot in this time. The games used to be 100000000x easier as today as well. ( or at least I feel that way nowadays, because I cant seem to win anymore. w-ever )
In this time, I rarely had tilt issues/issues controling myself, and I worked this 5$ up from the 1c/2c tables on PS until like 50NL. Then I decided to change to EUROBET, because it was rakeback available there. I kinda built up a roll there too, like 2000$ and I won some tourneys and shit as well.
Well later, I got sick of Eurobet and the crappy software, so I went back to PS. That was in the first months of 2006, and I worked my way up until the 200NL tables, where i made a lot of money. (at least it was a lot of money for me back then, when I look at what some of you guys make it is certainly ridicolous.) Then, I lost a lot of money because I had to cashout at the end of 2006 due to some incidents. And that was where my crisis basically started, in the year 2007. I was suddenly not my old self anymore, I wasn't playing good anymore and tilting from time to time and all. Well I dont want to go into more details, because the story is getting too long already. Basically 2007 was still decent money, I also won a lot of tourneys, but cash games really didnt work as well anymore, I also started getting tilt issues and stuff and I didnt really try to improve my game, whereas all the other people obviously did. I managed to get half back on track, and even worked my way up to NL400, but the tilt monkey came back and I really lost a huge amount of my roll playing underrolled. Well since then I dont seem to be able to really win anymore. I never lost any money, and I basically still won because all the money I played with was still made of the initial 5$.
2008 I basically stopped playing a few months, and then in november started again, trying to build up everything again. I made money I cant complain, but I feel that I stay a lot under my capabilites just because I am so lazy and never really faced my worst problems. I basically thought all the time that they would just dissapear, but now i will finally try to make a change.

Going to put a lot of hands in here from now on, and stats and everything, and I hope that I can really overcome my problems and I MIGHT succeed as a player again.

As you can see, I have a long history playing poker. I just got a hold on my old handhistorys(only PS tho, missing a lot of hands from other sites) and decided to import them into HEM.

Look at the funny graphs. Enjoy

2006

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/2006bh7.jpg/1/w1104.png
My best year in poker. Everything seemed so easy. However, i lacked motivation and dedication, I probably could have done a lot better there already.
2007

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/2007mn2.jpg/1/w1104.png
Bad year as you can see. But I won some tourneys there and on other sites I also won money, so its not as bad as it looks, but for me it was certainly a very bad experience to start losing the first time.

Dont have a graph for 2008 now, going to follow up later.

End of the rambling, gonna start posting some hands/stats etc. later...

Free ;) by PplusAD, January 30

Weeee i only have 1 more test to come on Wednesday .
besides that i finished all university tests this semster and i did good in all of them ! pwnz

yesterday the 2nd university director came to me and congratulated to my good results.
he said something like : Oh well , u did pretty good .... seems like ure an intelligent guy. keep it up.
was nice to see my results were good amount better than average ^^ after all the shitload of work i put into it.

The last 3 weeks have been horror .... wake up at 8am -> University return at 4pm .. sleep till 6pm -> learn till 3am >-<
repeart for 3 weeks.

I had no free time at all .... I did nothing but learn a shitload for all kind of tests and presentations i had to do.

But now its over and i am finally free again for the next 2 months.

Feels fucking good.
I need that rest so badly

Poker

I restarted poker yesterday after the 3 weeks break.
I didnt want to play my usual Nl100 HU game after 3 weaks without a single hand.

So i considerd either playing Nl25 on Full tilt or HU SNgs.
I decided to play 5$ HU sngs.

I run pretty bad but here are the results :
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6787/husngpd2.jpg

29games of 5+25 HU SNG -> ROI +27 // ITM 66% // 12.5min average match length // 42$ profits // 11$/h

dont know if that are good stats for a NL100 HU winning reg on 5$ SNGS ^^
But the suckout frequenzy is shizzle high.
even though no villian has an idea of what he is doing its still hard to win when they suck out all day

I will continue to play them for 2-3 days and watch DC HU videos.
when i feel in shape again i will rejoin Nl100 Hu on Pokerstars and probably will play some Nl25 6max on FullTilt poker

Allthough FTP is rigged , i really love their software.
They have improved so much over the last year and i think they are at least equal to stars nowadays.

GL All

So I'm on my way to the philly airport from the borgata and I figured I'd kill some time with a blog post. January was alright. A quick start to profit and kind of leveled off for the rest of the month. I won the nightly on stars early on in the month for like 20k. Then I didn't really do much until I went to atlantic city on the 21st. I played a 2k event and their 3k main event. Busted early in the 2k and made it to the last level on day 2 of the 3k main event but reshipped A9 into AJ and was no good. Thorladen won the event though so good for him I guess. 650k richer now. My month finished around 35k positive so pretty solid month overall but a little off the pace that I want to be on for this year. So more hrs next month! Ttyl blog.

January by DustySwedeDude, January 30

This month was fucking weird. First of all my profits comes from Omaha and down like 9k in NL. Since I don't have tracking for omaha I'll have to go with the fact that I asked unibet what I was up a couple of days ago and then subtract/add winnings and withdrawals. That way I'm pretty sure I'm up something like 19k€. And I'll get a couple of k's in rakeback, about 3k from the hold'em part and I'd guess maybe one or two more form omaha. Overall I guess I'm up just over 20k€. This includes a Hold'em downswing of something like 22k. Wtf? I must suck. Overall I feel super out of touch with hold'em 6-max and I'm toying with the idea of playing NLHU and the rest omaha unless some superfish sits. Might play like 3/6 hold'em too, just because it always runs.

Very annoyed that Joe won more then me this month. Fucking nit . J/K <3 u man, only unibet reg I don't hate with a passion. You and Panzergus. He's fun. And that other dude from germany like something87. And a few others. I really only hate the nits that's not from Cheazchland or whatever it's called.

Stuff I'm happy about:

- Won a lot, like more then 10k more then I hoped for.
- Joe also won, LP pwns.
- I pwned Malmis ZvP on LT. I've got rep.

Stuff that tilts me

- I suck at hold'em.
- Law school sucks. It kills my soul. Need a break.

However, on a brighter note my teachers this year owns a lot. Here's a few of them:

This grand old lady made jokes about STD's during a lecture on confidentiality within the public sector.

This one is supernice and and really funny. If I saw here without knowing that she's got a PhD in public law and is really smart I'd assume she worked in a local convinced store and possessed an IQ of less then 85.

This is my main teacher this semester. He uses more curse words per minute then any character in any Quintin Tarantino movie ever. It's 100% awesome and hilarious.

I've also started thinking about how much money in need before I don't need to give a shit anymore. I'd say a mil' and a half € would be a nice start. I need to get started. I hope to have like 300k after this year.

January09 by d.Apollo, January 30

Right well, I am going to write up my January 09 update now because I am going out soon for the rest of the night and also will be out at football/drinking tomorrow night so won't be playing anymore this month.

My january poker journey has been a weird/long one, I started playing poker again on the 2nd of January with $20 which I had left in my account from my last withdraw.

I grinded out 2/5nl for about a 4days, moved into 10nl and started ok then tilted my ass off as standard, lost half my roll then withdrew the rest which was about $120. I then got staked a day later from Mcturnbull (25/50nlreg), he staked me for $20 and I regrinded up the same way, 4days in 2/5nl and then got into 10nl, ran bad, lost half roll and withdrew again, around the same figures. Such a degen..

I did produce sexy results when I wasn't tilted and playing my best;

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/5e862dbea3363a03aefe90243d8ee7a5.jpg

A few days later, I started grinding 2nl again and got approached by a 50/100nl reg, Roseeker, who basically said. "Stop fucking withdrawing, I am going to stake you for $200 and you will play 10nl and play for real, we will work on issues that are holding you back" etc.etc. So I got staked half way through the month to play in 10nl. Through 10nl, my winrate was extremely poor compared to what it SHOULD have been because I was dealing with my degen attitude with tilt and really tried to improve myself which I think I have done with help of players such as Silver)Z(, Kwark_UK, Mcturnbull, Roseeker, EscapingR and Artantis trying to tilt me during my grinding lol!

Anyway, I finally finished 10nl

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/ef05c00bacfc1d684d7d28ba0001322e.jpg

I then moved into 25nl and basically broke even for ages, adjusting to the style again of 25nl after playing 2/5/10nl for long took me a while but having cured my tilting issues and my withdrawing symptons I could deal with the swings and breakeveness which I think is really good which means now I can really concentrate on improving other aspects of my game! I am currently half way through 25nl and feeling more confident because I finally brought past being breakeven/downswinging in 25nl! Sick heater at end ;d

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/1400222269e4061c2d26aeaf88a0ac9e.jpg

Even though I have been in super low microstakes most of the month, I achieved to hit gold star VIP status which is nice and I am getting back into my old self before I busted out of 50nl (read previous blogs).

My month stats and graph

Cash: +$611.44
Donkaments: +$70 give or take
Bonus: +$50

In total a month profit of around $730 which I am proud of!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/d8b2b0e958a18496cd461da74fd14453.jpg

Apart from poker, I have been working on my fitness and getting back into football again after a few months break and lack of training, I do weights/workout most nights, have official training once a week and match days being Saturday! So feeling a lot healthier for sure. I am also looking into renting a 3bedroom house with a few mates in the next month or so which could be interesting, hopefully should go down well. I am looking into getting some basic IT jobs, even some retail work to help support me because I am not withdrawing from poker anymore. In gaming aspects, I haven't played any this month really, haven't touched starcraft in months or any CNC game properly, I truely think my pro gaming aspect of my life is over Which is sad because I enjoyed it and made so many great friends through it and travelled to so many different places. Moving on with my life now which is great=)

Hopefully Febuary will bring me a good improving month and see where it takes me! Take careeeeeeeeeeeeeee x

LOL MOUNTAINS JAN09 by spets1, January 30

LOL FUCK

THIS MONTH SUCKED. I totally failed with my shots at NL200.
I just dont get it. WTF. NL100 is like candyland compared to NL200.
All people do at NL200 is 3bet, so much shoving going on its ridiculous.

On top of that the fucking table selecting is ridiculous. The waiting lists
to tables are impossible to get thru, sooo much table selecting is going on, its f'king
impossible to find a fish. I think soon poker is going to be just fucking regfest
with nobody making money except some fucking geniouses up the top.
Ive never seen anything like this, NL200 is not even comparable to NL100.

Its analogus to a lake infested with peranhas. You throw one fish in and everyone
fucking stomp on it till some fucking shark eats it all. And then.. then the
peranhas swim away - table breaks.
Fucked up, fucked up shit.

OH BTW NEW record due to fucking mad suckout!

Time to run good? by edzwoo, January 30

So after I've been tinkering around at NL100 for a bit, but it's been a bit frustrating. I'm certain I can beat the games the same rate I did at NL50, but I really believe I can actually beat it at an even higher rate than NL50. This sounds a bit strange because obviously the play should have improved, but regs here really suck in two spots: 3bet pots and getting raised at a certain point postflop. I don't really feel like getting into too much detail but basically everyone is a huge nit and refuses to get it in without the nuts, so just go all-in and they won't call.

Anyways, I think I have to fold AA and bottom sets often at this limit when I get raised, because the regs are seriously that nitty here. I think I might have stacked AK postflop ONCE and that was in a 3bet pot. Obviously I'm not playing the same as I did when I first came in because if everyone is that nitty... postflop should be something like size bets on flop and turn so that I have a PSB left on the river, then fire that last bullet and take down the pot 99% of the time.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/874e984429eb83cefac2bab0603133b7.jpg
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/9e3b52a267b8e6b081a2e048234a5c4a.jpg

Hand 14000 was when I dropped back down to NL50 and regrinded my roll back because I ran $1000 under expectation (lol sounds cool). If you notice the huge downswing when I peaked at around 500, that was rofl standard variance? I got set overset about 6 times, KK vs AA I dunno how many times, AA vs donk's two pairs some random amount of times.

It's kind of funny because I really do believe getting it in with bottom set in some spots is a LEAK at NL100.
