2K yeah :D by LemOn[5thF], July 21

Last two days have been great Poker Wise, as I have been running into some weak tables - a perfect environment for a crazy mofo like me.

My NL50 so far:
http://i31.tinypic.com/iyk2df.jpg
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/5103/keke.png While I still am above my expected target of 4-6bb/100, it could have been much much better did I stick to my rule:

YOU SHALL NOT MASSTABLE The entire downswing is ONE DAY of retarded 6-10 tabling. I just couldn't resist the urge for some stupid reason, its simply deep within me. Yeah, I did run bad, but thats no excuse with so much free money at NL50.

I assrape the limit when I 3-4 table, but when it gets to 4+ tables I am nothing but one of the break even regs I see there all over the place.

My style so far has been pretty much as it always was since NL10 - I adjust to every single villain and you can see me at different tables with stats ranging from 15/14 to 34/30 depending on how good/weak/obvious the enemies are.

Apart from the one JoeIngram syndrome outbreak I always start my tables HU (with anyone who sits alone or sits to me) and start adding tables up to 3-6 depending on how unorthodox villains I am facing.

I simply leave all nitty-reg tables unless they are willing to get into 3bet war/stop nut peddling as its super boring with them otherwise. Hopefully the first good LAG's will be at NL100, they will have much to teach me.

My month overall: NL25 and the supernova race, my inability to play lower stakes as I always end up shoving like 1/3 my hands and my decent NL50 run are there.

How sexy it looks:

And have some fun 2 hands:

do i have ADD by Syntax, July 21

i'm pretty sure i'm either addicted to LP and the net or i have a really small attention span

i cant stop browsing websites while im playing, mainly LP by far. i've even consciously told myself to not do it and minimized the window. Then in about 10 minutes ill find myself in a mindless forum reading / hand viewing trance on LP or 2+2. mostly LP though because i like the interface way more than 2+2s + the constant updated hands. seems like i can never turn down when i see a pockets aces hand for some reason, always gotta see it lol

(reason why i dont X out the window, is because PT3 is fucked up where i have to ctrl alt delete and shut it down manually to get firefox to reopen. Also because the LP hand poster.)

its probably also because its my first bookmark and homepage.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/SyntaxLlama/666666666.jpg

it's definitely screwing with my poker game... i constantly get in and out of the zone. I always lose my concentration, and in theory, its costing me money. also makes for some pretty sick timeouts which equals instant monkey tilt for me. i hate timing out.

am i the only one that's like this?

Challenged Myself ... by Spitfiree, July 21

... and won

Last month tried to do another 50nl shot and failed miserably, because of retarded plays. The moment i moved up to 50nl i started playing a whole new game different than mine and thats the biggest mistake anyone can do when moving up.So obviously i lost a lot of buy ins and in the end i decided that starting from 1st of July i will have to :

Win 30 buy ins at 10nl.
Win 40 buy ins at 20nl.

Before i moved up to 50nl again

Results:

life is good by Ludrik, July 21

Life is good. Back at uni after about a months holidays. Loving this semesters subjects so far. Lol only been about 4 hours stuff so far but w/e. Spent about 4 hours today hanging out with this israely chic I met a few weeks ago. She's got a boyfriend which is shit but I guess that's life.

I'm finally starting to get the hang of the rubrik's cube thanks to cubes guide over on tl.net. Did my first sub 4 minute solve today which i'm proud of.

Pokers been a bit mixed the last week or so. I'm down a couple of buyins over the last 3000 hands or so. But that's okay cos I feel like I've learnt a lot from it. My postflop play has improved a ton. Today was fairly solid. I was up about 2 buyins over 200ish hands. Then suckout after suckout kept coming. My favourite being this one.

I had just sat down at the table. I don't usually play pot limit and this was about the 3rd hand I'd been dealt. Just a small question. Should I have called or raised the initial bet on the flop against an unknown opponents? I'm not really sure wat gets the most value in this situation.

Lame day by palak, July 21

Another day where I lose a ton in money and confidence. Hate these days. Taking a break from poker for the next couple days. Super upset right now. Came into vegas up $3300ish on the month and 8 days ago had a 10.7k roll. Now have a 7.2k roll (700 from a withdrawl). With needing to live off of my bankroll next year I'm on very shaky ground right now.http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/0e43701e127eef30f78ad9788e594e44.jpg

Don't ever take anything for granted. by TheTank, July 20

I don't know how many of you know this, but i'm a college athlete. I'm a baseball player, a right handed pitcher, and i am committed to play at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

I've always had a love for the game, if you've been playing baseball since you were 4 years old, 17 years, thats what happens. I've grown up in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. Every summer i go to Rangers games, i bleed the Red White and Blue team colors. The best i can relate to most of the people on this world-wide forum is soccer. It seems everyone is very passionate about soccer outside of the US. This is it for me, this is what i do. I go to work, I go to school, I study, I play baseball.

I have a lot of great memories, and i always competed, I always left it all on the field. I was never scared, never frightened, if you were supposed to win, I played harder and made sure you didn't. The best example is when my team was the obvious underdog in a tournament against Waxahachie H.S. We were supposed to lose that game. What did i do? I threw 7 innings and got the win in a 1-0 ballgame. I was 15. Later that year my HS team was playing in a fall league (the HS season starts in february and ends in may). We lost 1 game the entire season, we get to the double elimination tournament as the number one seed and lose in the first game. We win 2 more games and make it to the next weekend, We win 1 game saturday, and then on sunday, if we wanted to win the entire tournament and become city champions, we have to win 5 games in a row. We won two, then in the semi-finals, we had a guy who hit his first and second homeruns of his life. The first one was in the bottom of the last inning and his HR tied the game, sending it into extra innings. His second tied the game again, sending it once more into extra innings. We played 11 innings in that game (regulation is 7). We then beat the #2 seed twice to win the championship. All of this with only 9 players the entire day. Everyone on the team played every inning...When i was 18 years old, on my club team i pitched a complete game shutout in the championship game against an unbeaten team. That was for a national championship. It was one of the greatest moments in my baseball career.

All of this being said, and now i have to tell you that i took it for granted. There are two types of "arms" in this game. One is made of glass, the other made of rubber. Mine is made of rubber. Glass arms are injury prone (because glass breaks). Rubber arms are seemingly injury proof. In my 14 years of baseball, i have only had one "injury" to my pitching arm. My senior year of high school i had a strained ulnar nerve. 3 weeks of no baseball and 6 weeks of rehab and i am fine. As a freshman i threw 40 innings, a sophemore 60 innings (thats a lot since we had like 21 games...about 125 innings in the season) Junior year i was a closer on varsity, and threw 20 innings and then my senior year i was the Ace of the staff, and threw about 50 or so.

Other than the three stories i talked about earlier, every team i've been on has sucked. Really bad. My senior year we only one 1 game. I never had any motivation to really work hard. I always did what i was told to do, but never anything extra. In high school, while playing for my school, we never were any good. My first year of college i was a red shirt so i didn't play. I was given a year that did not count against my eligibility so that i could mature and grow. My first year in college we sucked, we finished 2nd from last in our conference. This last year, my sophemore year at my junior college (last year at junior college) i played well, threw a 2-hitter against UT Tyler, a well known division III school, and we as a team, we so very close to making it to playoffs. The entire season all i could do was think about going to playoffs. Playoffs playoffs playoffs. My entire life every season that meant something, my team has sucked balls, and now finally after so long i have a chance to go to the PLAYOFFS! it's all i've ever wanted is to just go. I didn't care if we got swept in the first round, i just wanted to go.

We didn't go, but we were in the race until the very last series. Going into the last series, we were tied for the last playoff spot. The first tiebreaker was heads up, which we were 3-3 with eachother. The 2nd tiebreaker was how well you did against the 1st place team. We were playing the first place team, #1 team in the nation, Richland College. They were the worst team in our confernce, probably going to sweep them. That meant that if we swept Richland, we would beat them out in the tiebreaker...
In the bottom of the 9th inning, we were losing 8-7. We had 1 out with runners on 2nd and 3rd base, and our best hitter who was hitting about .420 up to bat. That was the best situation we could be in. All he had to do was get the ball into the outfield safely and both runners score, we win, our chance at going to playoffs in extremely good. The batter absolutely creams a line drive, heading over the 2nd baseman. Everyone starts screaming and cheering in the dugout, we knew what we had to do and we thought we did it. Unfortunately, the 2nd baseman jumps into the air as high as he can, barely catching the line drive, then throws it to 2nd to double him off, ending the game, and ending our chance at playoffs. I've never seen 23 people have so much joy and turn it into sadness and disbelief that quickly, within 2 seconds.

This made me want to try so god damn hard to get better. I knew i could do it. I committed to NWOSU, an NAIA school, who needed pitchers. I was going to work my ass off and give it everything i had to go to playoffs because this past year has been the most fun i've ever had playing baseball. I have been running, lifting weights, and i hired a trainer to help me train. The training is supposed to make me injury proof and increase the speed of my fastball. I should be throwing 92-93 mph in december. I was looking forward to it so much.

But today, during my lifting, i was about to start doing pull-ups, and as soon as i started my first rep..."pop-pop" really quick. i stopped what i was doing...left the YMCA, and headed to a friends house whose parents know a shitload about biomechanics. His mother was the only one home and she couldn't tell for sure what it was. I called my trainer whose main expertise is sports rehabilitaion, he said ice it and we'll look at it tomorrow.

Everytime i've tweaked something or felt pain in my knees or ankles, the first question someone asks me is "did you hear or feel a pop?" I've always said no, and a couple of days later, i'm back doing whatever. This time the answer is yes. There was a pop. I'm scared. Pops = tears. Tears = surgery. Surgery = 99% chance you will not get drafted. Its pretty much automatic if you don't throw 95+, and even if you do, you have a red flag the rest of your career.

So just don't take anything for granted. I feel i'm obligated to tell stories that could improve someones elses life. I believe in God, i know some of you don't, but i think that God, or the universal force, or whatever, puts you through trying times for 2 reasons...One, you learn from it and better your life, and Two, you tell other people and possibly inspire them, and my story could better someone else's life.

Tomorrow, i go to Chuck, the trainer, he'll examine it, and probably refer me to someone for an MRI, and hopefully in a week i'll have an update. Hopefully it will be a strain, however, I'm going to school for physical therapy and sports rehabilitation, and as i haven't taken any classes yet, being around sports and being interested in physcial therapy and well, just knowing my own body, i'm 95% sure i torn the fuck out of something. The only weird part (5%) is the location and type of pain... I can't explain why it hurts were it does and why there are like 2 kinds of pain... but who knows.

Sorry for making such a long depressing blog. i just needed to express myself some...get it off my chest. I figure i'll see a lot of "tl;dr" and "baseball sucks" and "haha u believe in god" but hey, at this point i really don't care about anything. baseball could be gone for me.

Morons giving themselves bad beats by blackjacki2, July 20

So last Saturday the poker room near me was running a promotion where they give away $500 every half hour to the first person to win a hand with pocket aces. The rules were:

1. Hand must go to showdown
2. There must be at least $10 in the pot

My concern was that if people got aces they would tank for a few minutes if the half hour was about to roll over and then flip their cards up.

That is exactly what happened when someone got pocket aces at my table. It went check/check to the river and he tanked for 2 minutes until the clock hit 2:00 and then flipped over pocket aces. Unfortunately for the poor sap it went check/check on all streets and there was only $4 from blinds in the pot so he didn't get jack.

After that they did the OBVIOUS thing and announced that the hand had to be dealt after they announced it to keep people from tanking with aces.

After we left for the day to play a home game I told my friends the story and they had a story of another moron. He got pocket aces and flopped a set. Instead of checking it down to the river and collecting $500, he decided to bet it and everyone folded to him. Of course he showed his monster flop which made everyone at the table ridicule him for being a moron for the rest of the day.

I didn't get the aces but I was up $200 on the day from all the stations/fish that promotions like that bring in. An elderly lady at my table was the biggest station I had ever seen. She called down a bet on the river and turned over 8 high.

vegas count #2 by palak, July 20

live: -$600
online: -$1266

live poker is officially boring for me 99 percent of the time. No one is really social and all think they r amazing so it sucks the life out of it. Online session today was some uber tilt life sucks crap. Getting tired of having so many 1 to 2k hand sessions where i lose tons. Probably wasnt playing the best poker ever. But at the end was up 120ish in nonshowdown pots and 800 below ev so on the surface seems like i played fine and got sucked out. Also had KK vs AA all in pre and 35 vs 54 in a 3bet pot on a 345 flop. So whatever gonna be on tilt for a while maybe will play a session tonight. I think I was about 3300 when I came vegas so still up like 1k on the month. Been breakeven now since Septemberish so fml in that regard. Pretty sure Im playing good poker recently even if my results arnt showing it.

Back! by LemOn[5thF], July 20

Ok, I took a week long break (I actually played about 30 hands on holiday, drunk + +$70 NL100, -$80 NL50 where I shoved AQ TP on 2 flush turn and got sucked by K4s -it made me so angry when I was drunk -.-)

Holiday was awesome, First two days I went to Prague to see my mum, have my first 5 beers and eat some unhealthy (but incredibly delicious) Czech Cuisine.
http://www.fotopraha.com/foto-praha/c...2007/09/vltava-from-vysehrad-view.jpg
http://15wheelsetcongress.com/images/karluv_most.jpgPrague is a great city, and this was actually the first time I went there for sightseeing since I was a kid.

I also checked out local pool and local females (see below if you missed my last blog), and observed some US water dancers practising there.

Well, Prague is great but I was looking forward to see my hometown, Liberec.

There are about 4 new Shopping malls and virtually zero sightseeing opportunities apart from mountains and Jested:
http://www.mapcards.net/prodimg/Jested_color.jpg.

,so my only concern was quality time spent with my family (I have seen my entire family that doesn't live in the US basically -a thing I haven't managed last two years)
And I kept tasting local beer. I sheld average 5-6 Beers a day, bought some clothes, and had one dancing party with loads of Vodka+Redbull ($5 For 2cans of Red Bull+2 shots of Vodka, I felt like speedy Gonzales that night)

And the day before departure I obviously had to try something we don't have in Scotland- Nonstop bars.

I started drinking at 9pm and arrived home at 7 am, approximately 10 beers (0.5L later). Its pure Awesome, and there are even clubs open until 10am, but I am getting old and skipped this experience this year.

After 3 hours of sleep it was time to go for a last trip with my Three sisters (3,16 and 28), brother (1) and my dad to an old castle Trosky http://www.karlovice-sedmihorky.cz/O%20obci/Foto/images/Trosky-2.jpg with a real fairy tale from a local theatre (Oh man that sucked) and Japanese tourists.

My trip was coming to an end, and I must say that I really enjoyed those 7 days, but also that I was looking forward to come back to a place that I consider my home - Edinburgh. I must admit I even missed the Chinese food my GF makes all the time, despite the awesome Czech cuisine.

For those who missed my last blog, have some known Czech ladies (These are models, but I must tell you that the real thing, especially in Prague, is not far from these, and in large quantities)

NSFW!

WTF deepest poker of my life by Night2o1, July 20

Playing 2/5 live~

So I'm in the middle of trying to fix my whole scared-money tendencies I've had since my mindset was crushed a while back and so obviously in the last 3 days I've ended up playing the deepest stack poker I've ever played against the biggest aggro maniacs.. ever. The last 2 days I've been over 4bi deep vs 2-4 other players during most of the length of my sessions

Life really likes to try and shit on me

Anyway I think I did ok. I think I ran pretty 'average' as I ended up with a break even session after 14hrs of play (I couldn't leave, as my table was soooo sick the last 10 hours). I'm not sure what it would of taken to make it a better session, I think I'd have to be really sick to of played most of my situations tonight w/ a higher EV. Not that I don't have a lot to work on / learn, ofc.

Pretty hilarious was that I ended up 6bet shoving AK pre for 3bi total..LAWL. This guy could definitely of folded, or of showed up with AQ, so I don't think my play was bad. Kind of read dependent.. Anyway, I lost the flip vs 99 obv. I'm not sure if I should of just mucked to his 3bet TBH, since it is a pretty high variance situation (tho I really think it was +EV vs this guy).

Anyway hopefully things will improve into the more profitable direction, as I've been in 3 sick sessions with sick action and all 3 were break even (I think I'm up like 200 in the past 3 days lol -_-). I think I could definitely of had a more profitable last 2 days if I were better.

Now I'm going to go watch the Wheel of Fortune live taping cuz my mom is in town.. going to be awake for 20+ hours or whatever is gonna really suck but w/e.

Revolt against Rake by consideratio, July 20

I want...
Better software features
Very low rake
A rake system that makes a player with edge also a winning player

I want to create a poker site, not for the sake of profits, but to wipe out silly poker sites with disturbingly useless software.

For this I seek...
People interested in starting a project with me.

Who am I...?
A poker player (most profits come from playing 10/20), a physics student, and self educated in programming (read books about .NET/CLR/LINQ/WPF/ASP.NET/C#/SQL/Design Patterns/3D Graphics/Direct X/Remoting)

I wanna create a state of the art poker site, such as I'd say facebook is for the world of communities.

Anyone interested in joining me in this project? I seek knowledge in poker, and in programming and relevant knowledge and experience.

Trip Report by DustySwedeDude, July 20

Trip Report, Unibet London

So many impressions, so much fun. Dunno were to start. Someone said that ”the beginning” might works so I'll go with that. I got on a plane ton London late Wednesday afternoon and despite me being slightly afraid of heights me for some reason I took the place by the window. Our first decision was that on the way home he'd sit by the window and I could be busy closing my eyes and reciting “If..” by Kipling in my head. That poems is basically a lot of statements starting with “If” and “if you can” etc and then it ends with; “Yours is the earth and everything that's in it, and – which is more, you'll be a man, my son!”. It really speaks to me since I like the stoic undertones and as far as people I look up too and try to listen to as long as he should have some idea about it my father is probably the first I can think of, so the ending that explains that it's a father figure talking to his son probably gets me a bit too. The passage I kept coming back to was;

“If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,”

and I figured that even though I've never had chlamydia (also halfway relevant later) and so far I haven't been to Ireland I've had a pretty decent life and if the plane was to crash, well, it could've been worse. The flight went fine though and we got to Heathrow without any problems worthy of mentioning. From there I decided, in all my wisdom, that we should take a cab. Now the flight was fairly ok, 5 minutes of me closing my eyes and looking like a retard. No problem, no worse then getting a bad blow job from someone you're a bit afraid might have shape teeth and a temper. This however, was really crazy. YOU GUYS DRIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD! Also, the driver had a habit of ignoring traffic rules and solve all deputes (of which it was quite a few) by giving other cars the finger. Thought I was for sure going to die. Since some heavenly father, Lady Luck or more probably superman was watching me and keeping me safe we got to the hotel without in one piece. Since this trip I consider my life a freeroll, I clearly should be dead. Said hi to some unibet people, got to the room, played some Dota with my friend and got to bed. To not be kicked from the Nordic games I flooded the chats with statements about how much my network sucked and how it kept saying I was from great Britain which was sooooo super weird. Suckers.

“If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, “

Got up the next day, rather tired but not to bad and we went for some English breakfast on the way to the Casino. The eggs, bacon, beans and such was nice but English sausages seems to suck a fat one (please no jokes etc). Also ordered Coffe which sucked even worse. Only way to get decent coffe in england seems to be to import it yourself. The tournament started, everything seemed fine except that when I sat down some dude in a cardrunner's hoodie looked kinda familiar so I introduced myself as a Cardrunners member and he told me he was Timex. Great. Guess who's videos I've been watching to learn how to play donkaments? Ohh well. He was supernice and I talked to him some more later on the airport. Owned me pretty hard in the tournament, but whatever. It happens. I coldflattet QQ vs a EP 3bet, flop came Q98r 3way and someone bet/shoved 98o vs me and I got the early chip lead. Then I flopped a set of 888 on A87ss as the UTG-raiser vs the bb who had called me with T9o.. The obvious turn and I was back to just over my starting stack. I also met fazi which was nice. Sad that I couldn't hang out more with him. A couple of misreported hands were I sucked out on shortstacks and some stealing later I had maybe 30ish k (starting stack was 10k) and moved table.

I think me and Timex busted almost all people form the original table who didn't get moved. So great, the only guy I wanted to get rid of stays until the table breaks, and had me covered almost all the time. New table was better. Got next to drunk finish dude Markus who was supernice and we both managed to chip up a little bit. Play ended, I borrowed the fin like 300£ or so for some omaha game he wanted to sit in and went get some food. My roommate was in a 1 / 2 £ game and I had half his action. He told me he had missed in total 2 hands during 13 hours of live play and was up 500 or so. Got back with the food and he was down 70. A worse sucker for flush draws are hard to find. Had some meat and salad that tasted really good at the casino, went home and got some sleep. Woke up the next day at 3 pm when the hotel people called us and wondered if we intended to get away so that they could clean our room up. We took a trip to Regent's Park and it was really cool. Got some nice pics I'll upload some day. Then we went home, got my money back from the Fin, ran into Pulda and Blizzy and went for a drink with some Unibet person. Drink was nice, Unibet person was nice and but I still excused myself after a while to go hang with the Slovakians. Had some champange, beer and such at the hotel bar, then we got hold of a deck of cards but no chips and we were to many to play chinese so I just logged on to prima and did some serious drunk-stoomping while Pulda mostly cried for me to “PLEASE DON'T CALL” and Blizzy looked somewhat appreciative of my 4way floats with K-high and such. Their friend Martin (?) seemed to feel that something has to be wrong with these stupid kids. Had a lot of fun and got to bed at about 7am. Got up at 11am and got some food before day 2. Hungover as hell I go say hi to Zografa who was also in the tournament. Sat down at my table and saw that Ket was two seats to my left and that he had a big stack. Introduced myself and tried, without much luck, got get him to pronounce my name. We agreed that “Dusty” probably would work just as well. Ket was shitting all over the table so I had to be semi-tight and after like 2-3 hours I shoved KTs over a raise for like 30bb (was antes) and some guy who I think won some earlier Unibet Open tank/called 99. Flopped a king, he rivered a 9. Just as well, was hungover and felt like crap anyway.

“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same”

I thanked everyone around the table for a good time, shook their hands grabbed the glas of wine I had ordered while I waited for the guy to call my shove and grabbed my roomie. Kinda wanted to stay and rail Ket for a while but I wanted some food. Called up the support people and asked them what was up. They told me they were going to the London Eye and would then grab some food. I obviously grabbed a shirt and we jumped into a cap and found them. Got a pic with the Swedish former greco/roman wrestler Ara Abramhovic who was supernice and then I refused to go on the London Eye and went and got coffee and a sandwich instead. Then we all went to some really cool buffé on top of some building in central London and then got to some club quite close to Piccadilly circus with an open bar. Got home like 3-4amish due to an open bar and got home the next day. Felt like shit, woke up with 3 packs of cigarettes in my pocket (I don't smoke...) and checked out. Got to see Hyde Park that afternoon and took a late plane home. Ran into Timex on the airport and talked to him about some hands for 5 minutes.

Overall I had a ton of fun and I'd like to say thanks to my roomie, all the Unibet people, Markus, Pulda, Blizzy, Martin, Zografa, Fazi, Ket, e3ro, GutsforGators (or whatever his name is) and everyone else who made this trip a total blast. I would've liked to hang out some more with everyone (especially Fazi and maybe talk to Ket for 10 min) but as the great philosopher Jagger once said; you can't always get what you want.

Also, I recommend all british people visit Sweden. Our girls are much hotter
