- "I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor...That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor, and surviving" -
So while running wild and crazy up the limits and hitting a wall I took pause for a moment. I decided I had a good run, and I needed to have something to show for it. So I cashed out pretty hard. I had what seemed to be a rather working style, at least working when table conditions were just right. Right before cashing out I decided to change a few facets of my game in response to certain players at the table I wasnt winning against. My new strategies were no good and only caused further losses. I think I switched up my game one more time with no success, so I stopped and grabbed what dough I had left and made a run for it. I left myself rolled for NL200 and took some seriously bad beats against against some maniacs, which I always told myself to avoid on a limited bankroll. By then my tiny roll was a complete mess and I lost the drive.
I was left with $18. I got a little rackback which brought me to $50, so thats where I'm out now. I decided to try my hand at the dollar table SNG's. I've boooked about 60 and I have..... $53. Just doin the ole sitout until bubble style and then shoving constantly. Fish seem to really hate being pushed around and start spite calling me with J5o and stuff just to knock me out I guess. Sometimes I have a hand and get sucked out on, sometimes I dont. I have a TON of bubble finishes, which is pretty frustrating. I would rather get knocked out in 5th or 6th where it's understandable for them to play a lot looser. But goddamn these people will throw away their entire tourney on a junk hand just to say "bye bye" when they stack you with trash. I dont think I really want to play these things anymore. I dont have any particular experience or insight into winning them. Think I read an article on ICM a year ago and just understand to use my FE + dead money while the short stacks wait on each other to donk out. Whats the worst is I keep finding myself seated to the right of some deepstacked idiot making it impossible to steal.
Technically I have enough roll to go back to NL10 if I one-table, so I guess I'm gonna start doing that again. I took $200 to $3000 in a single month before, so I should be able to hit $1000 with this roll
Just hoping I havent forgotten how to play cash. I was hoping to be quitting my job by fall or winter, lawl. But I'm glad I decided to have some fun with my earnings. Was able to book a trip with my homeslice for a week in a nice 4 star hotel, all expenses paid, and buy a blu-ray player with wifi built in and netflix capable streaming which is ridiculously badass. First movie watched, PRIMER.
Which brings me to the conclusion. EVERYBODY WHO READS THIS MUST GO WATCH THE MOVIE PRIMER RIGHT THIS SECOND. Holy fucking christ I will be watching this movie a good 2 times further before I fully understand it. If you liked the time travel odyssey that was Donnie Darko, you will LOVE primer. Darko was a bit more mysterious and creepy, but primer is just downright utterly fascinating. I cant begin to do justice to this film by describing it, so any geeks who love complicated science fiction time travel with a script that doesnt "dumb it down" for the general masses will be talking about this movie for weeks.
any winning nl50/100 6m players want to chat? ive been breakeven/slightly losing for the last 100k hands or so and its been really frustrating. not sure what im doing wrong, would help to talk to other players. my AIM is ahhratelimit. just msg me and let me know who you are if you want.

enjoyed vegas meeting lp guys and new players as well. now im back home after like 25 hour travel and im looking at my barely 5k BR wondering what happened LOL. sux coz pandora radio doesnt work anymore and im currently running like shit and lost like 20bi playing online in vegas and LA, this month the big story has KK running into AA like 80% aipf and not sucking out not even once oh well, i still have like 4kusd worth of payments to make which leaves me a solid 1500 BR hahaha. srsly dunno what to do next and i dont wanna sell my car just to upload back online coz that would seriously be more retarded, or is it? too tired of grinding it back up to 10 or 20k from here and just kinda confused and drifting since i came back, trying to read up on technical analysis and going to a seminar in cebu city this august - i wanna slowly shift away from playing poker for a living and just play poker to pay for living expenses coz after 2 years + i dont think i have what it takes to be a winning player at decent (at least 200nl) stakes .
any megatabling grinders wanna add me up esp joeingram, handbanana, hurloon, exhilirate or any other winning 24 tabler i need some advice ... add me up starcrudph@yahoo.com or aim isidrobastida@yahoo.com , i desp need some grinding mindset going before i totally lose interest , still have some 8 sessions with d_zoo left tho.
vegas was great and somehow one of the most enjoyable moments i had there at the house apart from hanging out and going to the lp party was me constantly pwning marshall at chess haha. pete is a great guy really and i felt when i got to know him was just really misunderstood a lot - he's really a cool guy. thx for the memories guys, the bankroll rape was worth it
To everyone who is convinced and tells their peers they run bad: its obv possible, but you most likely are just not as good as you think you are.
I really get annoyed when people talk about how they run bad as if its an absolute fact.
"Umm, it's basically been scientifically proven that i run bad so yeah, i'm 100% positive."
Im actually surprised that people are so weak minded or w/e and cant realize that its just that theyre not pro like they thought. If youre running at .05BB/100 for 150k hands its easy to remember all the constant bad beats and automatically assume that youre running below expectation and that youre BB/100 should be higher.
also going back to bad beats. they're the nature of the game, theyre basically what makes poker what it is. if there wasnt a luck factor, the fish wouldnt play. theres constantly gonna be bad beats. over and over, till youre dealt that very last hand youll ever play. because if you think about it, all the situations where youre ahead, its usually something like 60/40, 70/30, 55/45 of course youre going to lose ALOT when you were the favorite. poker is a very very long term game... if you constantly wallop in your 'misfortune' than youre just making it harder for yourself to truly become a winner. Id imagine the greatest winners today are most likely absolutely emotionless about every hand they play. They always are on their A game and they critically think to the best of their knowledge about poker all around and how they can get better.
winrates are considerably lower than they used to be because of less fish so i think we see this more and more because people are just not winning / breaking even now. Players are getting more and more frustrated thus you see all these ppl bitch about bad beats and how they KNOW they run bad.
Theres no way it could just be because poker is an extremely intricate game and its actually possible they just suck and ran well or any number of other reasons. get real :O
That was basically all I took on the 3rd, since the party was at my house I spent a lot of the time making sure people didn't break shit while retarded. Btw my Pong Team went undefeated in the tourney, although we couldn't finish it because the cops were called at about 1:30am and told us to stfu.
So we woke up about 10am to head out to Lake Minnetonka, was a pretty overcast day, kinda cold until when we first got out there. It was pretty fucking crazy though, I saw 7 boobs... Yeah dude, 7.... Girls would flash you for a pull of your liquor, unfortunately I did not get any of those pictures, because well fuck, I was pretty distracted.
Here's a few random pictures of the island, it was fucking crazy. We ended up leaving when it started to pour on us though, but were out there long enough to get pretty shitfaced.
So that's all I pretty much have on the 4th. These next set is from our Tour De Franzia competition
Basic rules are as follows
Play a mini game
-Win the game, your team gets more nozzle time on a box of franzia
-First one who finish's all their franzia wins. The guys team had 3 boxes vs the girls 2 boxes. We both had 6 members per team.
-We ended up winning, a few girls ended up passing out and were pretty much retarded enough to no understand how to play the last event.
Played much better today, with a real focus on not thinking myself out of my first decisions. My attempts to do this started off with a real test as I end up quickly being stuck 2bi, and then quickly getting 5bi deep with 2 other players on my table, one of whom was a SICK maniac. Basically I stuck to my guns and went with what I thought was the best decision in each hand, I think I ended up break-even or 1-3hundred up vs the sick maniac, other guy was a nit. We probably traded like 3k between the two of us in a matter of 3 hours. I think I made 1 real $200 spew against him but overall I'm happy with my play vs him.
I ran good and finally got one of those sick "lol awesome" setups, in a btn vs sb vs my bb I got it in 3way vs two $500 stacks with AA v KK v AQ and held.
Also flopped KQss on 9TssJc vs QTcc, all in on the flop for 2bi and obv the turn brings the Kc to make me shit my pants, and brick river for the freakin chop.
Anyway, just looking to get/keep my head right. I re-looked at my BR/life savings situation and I don't feel like I'm at any risk of failing / busto'ing anymore, and that helped a lot. Worst that can happen is I might have to push my plans back a month or so along the way.
Anyone who's still in vegas and wants to meet/party/play poker, has a crew still here, whatever, I'm pretty much hanging out completely solo now.. so PM me, as I'd like to meet some peeps during the next 4-6 weeks I'm here.
so in another attempt to boost my failing self esteem i am offering free coaching
my resumé is getting a little pathetic because i havent played in about 5 weeks but i can boast lifetime earnings of around 35k from nl10 july 7 08 --> nl200 june 1 09 not counting tournament winnings and bonuses
i would actually like to coach someone who would actually take it far, then mabe i'd feel like i wasnt a complete failure
i specialize in fr but i assure you i can assist in basically anything up to 100nl and very likely help to improve a winrate in the 200nl games that i cant seem to bring myself to play in
please have mikogo and/or teamviewer and skype
except see, i dont think theres hardly anyone i dont already talk to who could care less about this. so yeah? uhhhhhhhhhhh
Fucked up the title ~ July not June T_T writing at 1am
I play NL5 fullring on ps, after beginning the month with some really bad play late at night + some tilt i lost about 18BI on June 5th, had to pull through and do a lot of homework, i started playing a lot more solid recently, and won quite much the last 2 days ( weekends are sick at the micros , full of fishes bigger than me )
Today some friends texted me, i was supposed to go the casino in center of Seoul being in Coex, but the friend i was going with wanted to go to the much further away casino, the one with "better looking waitresses" .... So we flipped a coin for it and ended up going to his choice.
Now at these casinos they usually have 1000/2000won or 2000/5000won blinds, 1000 won being about 0.80$
But surprisingly tonight they only had 1 table running with 2/5, i didnt know if they were gonna open another table for 1/2 anytime soon so i chose to sit down, was told minimum buyin is 200 000, decided to buy in for 300 000, which is the amount i was gonna buy in for even at 1/2.
I folded a hand of two then i pickup AQo in SB, 2 guys limp i make it 30 000, 1 caller.
flop AJ2r i bet about 3/4 pot and he snap calls, i didnt have much info on the guy but he was asian and over 40 and usually those guys are stations, turn is a 4, i bet about 110 000 and he shoves over me, im commited and make the call thinking he could have AJ or AK but im pretty sure i have him.
How surprised was i when he showed A5o... River was a useless card and i doubled up very early.
Few hands later im dealt 79s, and limp, people love to limp in Korea, dont ask me why or how they just do. so almost everyone at the table limped and the flop is 774r, check check , some guy bet small , and i RR to 45, everyone folds except the guy who had originally raised calls me, its pretty obvious he has a 7 and he has more chips than me gonna have to proceed safely. Turn is a 9 giving me the nuts, he checks i raise again kinda strong once again knowing that he will call with his 7 and he does. Turn another 9, he bets kinda big but still smaller than what i had left, i push allin and he flips over A7 and seemed really pissed when he saw he was beat.
Two double up already and i have over 1 200 000.
Im card dead for about an hour limp a pot or two, never raised nor picked up any pocket. just observed and tried to kinda profile everyone.
Finally i pickup AA, some Japanese guy raises 15, and some guy who works as prop at the casino, Korean American calls, he was one of the good players at the table and was very deep. Im on the button and i make it 60 which in the moment i thought was good, but looking back at it wasnt enough because the first guy was a station and he was giving odds to the 2nd guy to call with almost any 2 cards seeing as how deep he and i were.
So they both call and the flop comes K33, the first Japanese guy bets like 10 000 into 180 000, and the Korean/American folds instantly, so im guessing he had a pocket and missed. I reraised him allin because he had about as much as pot and i think hes full of it.
He install calls making the pot about 650 000won, and flips over K2s then i think again WTF are they guys doing. Im like 91% favorite but a King comes on the turn crushing my hopes to win this pot, no Ace on the river.
After this i was a bit tilted to see this guy winning a single pot, calling 60 000 pf with K2s and i just went home shortly after. Being up 485 000won is not bad but today i should have won over a million, then again it could have been worse!
My friend who usually plays high stakes didnt play any big hand except one where he made a king high flush when someone had the nut flush and he lost about 300 000 in it.
If anyone plays fullring micro limits and wanna discuss hands or poker with me u can leave me ur msn in comments ~
I have 2 invites for a game in closed beta called Heroes of Newerth, its a dota rip off on a standalone client, its really cool. First 2 people to PM me their e-mail get the invites.
