400 nl Shots update... by Eluflop, April 20

So the last blog i was down 5k in 400 nl..
I decided to pump it up , play well and rise from ashes in 400nl. Well i didn't even come close to my plan. I fell even deeper between the ass cheeks total of -6000$ (wuuuuhuuuuuu). Then i at one point in my session i realized that I have no confident left. I felt like a newborn hairless monkey sitting on the cold street pavement of Brooklyn.

I looked outside the window, took a sip of water and admitted my lack of knowledge in 400 nl stake to myself. I was in deep need for self confidence redemption. So i watched some videos, took some notes and also took a little break. Finally I moved back down to 200 nl. The transaction felt like going to your warm bed to sleep compared to sitting naked on the streets of Brooklyn in a cold January. So now i am climbing back up to the ''green'' in 200 nl. So far im up 10 bi in 3 sessions.

I took the -6k as an investment, like tuition for the school. I learned valuable new things. And soon I will force myself to move back up from my cozy warm bed to the cold streets of Brooklyn... But hey, this time the monkey will have hair on his body...

Random, buying a 27" monitor w00t by Night2o1, April 20

I'm buying the 27" monitor from the FTP store, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005127 . Not bad, getting it for effectively $168 vs the $389 retail price. I have a 24 or 26", can't remember, really quality monitor at home and I'm not sure if I am going to go akimbo monitorz or if I will give it to my little sister or momma. Either way, it'll be nice to have a big, fat, quality monitor for when I get back to grinding. And it'll be an even more insane move up from my 13" laptop monitor LULZ!

I also picked off the $300 cash bonus from the Iron Man store. The transaction went through and the medals were removed from my account, but no cash was deposited into my account, and if its delivered as a bonus there is nothing new in my Bonus Account tab.. Anyone know how these ironman bonuses work?

After I figure out what's going on with the Ironman cash, I am going to put through my order for the monitor and then withdraw my BR and put it on UB. It is the last US site that I know of where I haven't cleared the deposit bonus.. I figure it will help me get everything back in order to have an effective ~50% rb or whatever for a month. Really would like to experience some real bankroll growth..

I haven't done the calculations but hopefully the 30% UB vs 27% FTP rakeback will help with the extra jackpot rake (almost only jackpot tables run on UB).. Plus maybe I will hit the BBJ ;P

NL100 by zulu_nation8, April 19

So I have this bad habit of playing long sessions when I'm stuck and autopiloting when I'm tired. Lost all my winnings at NL100 today. I'm feeling good nonetheless just gotta regrind it back. I'm confident I can be a winner in the long term. Posting graphs for embarrassment. I promised myself to only make run bad blogs so here's the first one.

Today:

updateaments by longple, April 19

i got a stake from my friend in beginning of march to help me out w my roll that i pretty much busted after my -8k month in february on stars running brutally much under my EV and alot of other stupid stuff

i returned to bossmedia network to grind the € tables out on my stakeroll and sofar ive payed the stake back fully and are currently back up in the NL100 and NL200 games

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f0a03fab49daa9b9494ce03adefc996c.jpg

i started out at NL50 in march, not winning to much but with the rakeback i collected i was able to pay back the stake + his 40% in early april since i got to keep all of my rakeback for myself i only "lost" around 500€ in the deal, so i got staked for 1500€, payed him his 2000€ back and currently got around 4k€ roll again and im awating decent rakeback payout from april, im on phase to recieve around 3500€ in RB, ive raked around 5k so far this month and im going for 7k

been 8-12 tabling NL100 whole month, adding some NL200 and NL150 tables that looks good into my sessions with decent sucess, small sample on NL200 but sofar i havent clashed with any reg that feels to scary or anything, the games looks pretty good so hopefully i will play more and more NL200 in may.

im so happy i have such good pokerfriends, the guy that staked me saved my ass bigtime this time only to help me out, not taking almost anything for himself making it a terrible deal for him buissnes wise.

im back up on the horse, and im currently making a real good hourly at NL100 with RB, around 35€/RB/hour while 12 tabling, and with my current winrate im shipping a nice 70-80€/hour at the NL100 games wich is so sick, im prolly running hot, not EV wise, but i feel i run decently at times. But i also feel so super confident in my ability to beat NL100 after my trip of 500k hands of NL100 as a 24 tabling retard on stars, playing less tables makes me feel kinda safe, and i look forward at continueing playing more NL200 again

graph of the last 50 days:
+ Show Spoiler +

up almost 8k€ after i got staked, wich is almost 11k USD, and i only lost 500€ of my profits in this process

again, im happy there are good ppl in this world, willing to help out their friends in rough times

P90X Results by MalkasGambit, April 19

Thought I'd release a new update on P90X as I've progressed a lot since my last post and can now answer more questions. I'm officially on Day 63 and have pretty sick results so far. I've also been working my ass off on the website which has both my results pictures and any questions/answers RE P90X. I also moved my poker blog there which doesn't have much atm but will be updated more once I move to 1/2 and start putting in more volume.

Check out the site: http://www.myhealthworkout.com/articles/

Weee by Night2o1, April 19

I've hardly played this month. That's OK, this'll change next month. Feeling decent about poker and I hope that next month begins my journey up-up-up, haha. I will be putting real hours in at least.

Not much has really been going on otherwise. I went out a couple of times and had quite a bit of fun. Hung out with byrnesam and silverZ a bit, good times.

I do like it out here, but I think it is not +EV pokerwise for me right now, and in the spot I'm in right now it'd be difficult to make it work financially. So I'm headed home on May 4th. I am torn between treating the rest of the time here like a real vacation or if I should try to be putting in some hours. I suppose I will just do what flows before I buckle down after a day or two of resettling back home. March and the start of this month was a serious disaster mentally and physically, I think taking it slow is what I need. There's no need to for pressure right now.

Been reading Fool By Randomness on loan from SilverZ. I am in the final pages of it now.. Really excellent book and a lot of it is applicable to poker players. I will pick up a copy for myself when I get home and re-read it when the time comes.

Quitting Poker by k2o4, April 19

Not really... but kinda

When I started playing poker I gave myself 2 years to get to the point where I was making a living from it, figuring that would be plenty of time to learn the game and then build a BR. That was based off of what my friends had done during the glory days when nut peddling on Party Poker could beat 2/4 and 3/6 cause there were so many idiotic fish and no training sites. Of course I got in late and the UIGEA came into play in the first few months of my new poker career and cardrunners had started to become popular, with other video training sites springing up left and right.

I'm not blaming my "quitting" on the environment, I'm just saying that I had unrealistic expectations.

2 years went by and I was winning and at a stake where I could make a living off the game (NL100) but still hadn't built a BR that met my goals and I still hadn't won enough money to feel very confident that I could sustain it. But I was close so I gave myself 1 more year.

Over that year I've realized that if I'd played during the glory days I probably woulda made a solid profit, but I don't have enough natural skill to break through to the next level (2/4 and 3/6) in today's games. I've consistently won on NL100 for a long time and with the Supernova "rakeback" supplementing my small winrate I was able to live off of poker for a bit, and at other times use it as a side income. I was able to buy quite a few nice things, cover rent and utilities, and go on this 3 month Southeast Asia backpacking trip thanks to the poker income. But I could never win consistently on NL200 and my few NL400 shots (during my winning NL200 days) failed. I know it's cause I'm just not good enough in the natural skill department and I don't have the right mindset to be a poker winner - not competitive enough. I have made more of my money due to good discipline and tilt control than due to creative thinking. I can own fish but break even or lose to regs most of the time. And when I move up from NL100 there just aren't enough fish to feed off of (yet there are still lots of fish!)

So I've decided to "quit" poker - and by that I mean I'm going to quit pursuing it as a way to earn a living. I had dreams of grinding 3/6 and 5/10, making big bucks, saving it up and parlaying it into investments, going back to school, a home, etc... gonna give those up. I'm always going to keep playing poker as a hobby that brings in extra cash, but I won't be trying to make my living on poker anymore.

These last 3 months of traveling and taking a long poker break have helped me come to this decision. When I was grinding everyday it was so hard to let go of the dream. But getting some distance made me realize that I tried my best and came up short and now it's time to move on. That's fine. I'm happy about my brief poker "career" and I'm excited about my decision to put my full energy into another field.

So what now? I'm going back to school as I've finally figured out what I want to major in - Psychology / Psychiatry. Haven't nailed down which specific one to do yet and I'll be focusing on that and getting through all the paperwork to get back into school once I get home. For now I have 2 days in Bangkok dodging rioters and bullets and then I'm back to the good old US of A where I get to start a new path. And I couldn't be more excited and happy about it.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way. I will still be involved here on LP and probably gonna go to the WSOP, so I hope to see everyone there again and have another great time. Actually, I'll probably look exactly the same as I always have as I'll be playing poker, posting hands, blogging, etc. The difference will be that the volume will be less and the goal will be changed.

Today I won the biggest pot in my life, which is obv good. I'm so happy i'm reposting this:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qmW7F07E9_M...Y/s1600/kate-beckinsale-esquire-1.jpg

I also studied properly for my calculus test, and I think I did well; decided to put as much commitment into studies as I do in poker. I actually enjoyed math which I haven't in a while, hope to keep going.

I've slipped in my eating plan, I just haven't been able to restrain from bread/chocolate. Gonna not eat em for next week, this time i'll do it (lol); I usually slip when i'm not at home (i.e friends house, nightouts). However my snatch is getting better, I just love this lift.

Today I reviewed my game with my friend and he found a strong leak; my c/r from utg is 0. We discussed some stuff and there's certain spots which I should be c/r or c/c rather than bet/guessing which is really gross, specially vs fishes on coordinated boards; i'm also reading/watching the bunch of material zulu sent me; having him on aim is definetly EV+

I noticed that i'm enjoying poker more than ever; I used to push myself into grinding at nl25, but now I just love it. I always want to grind for at least an hour every day, which is kinda cool.

Finally congrats to F4Zi (even though I don't really know him) for sick first place on Sunday Warm Up, love watching fellow lpers do good =d
