I've hardly played this month. That's OK, this'll change next month. Feeling decent about poker and I hope that next month begins my journey up-up-up, haha. I will be putting real hours in at least.

Not much has really been going on otherwise. I went out a couple of times and had quite a bit of fun. Hung out with byrnesam and silverZ a bit, good times.

I do like it out here, but I think it is not +EV pokerwise for me right now, and in the spot I'm in right now it'd be difficult to make it work financially. So I'm headed home on May 4th. I am torn between treating the rest of the time here like a real vacation or if I should try to be putting in some hours. I suppose I will just do what flows before I buckle down after a day or two of resettling back home. March and the start of this month was a serious disaster mentally and physically, I think taking it slow is what I need. There's no need to for pressure right now.

Been reading Fool By Randomness on loan from SilverZ. I am in the final pages of it now.. Really excellent book and a lot of it is applicable to poker players. I will pick up a copy for myself when I get home and re-read it when the time comes.

Quitting Poker by k2o4, April 19

Not really... but kinda

When I started playing poker I gave myself 2 years to get to the point where I was making a living from it, figuring that would be plenty of time to learn the game and then build a BR. That was based off of what my friends had done during the glory days when nut peddling on Party Poker could beat 2/4 and 3/6 cause there were so many idiotic fish and no training sites. Of course I got in late and the UIGEA came into play in the first few months of my new poker career and cardrunners had started to become popular, with other video training sites springing up left and right.

I'm not blaming my "quitting" on the environment, I'm just saying that I had unrealistic expectations.

2 years went by and I was winning and at a stake where I could make a living off the game (NL100) but still hadn't built a BR that met my goals and I still hadn't won enough money to feel very confident that I could sustain it. But I was close so I gave myself 1 more year.

Over that year I've realized that if I'd played during the glory days I probably woulda made a solid profit, but I don't have enough natural skill to break through to the next level (2/4 and 3/6) in today's games. I've consistently won on NL100 for a long time and with the Supernova "rakeback" supplementing my small winrate I was able to live off of poker for a bit, and at other times use it as a side income. I was able to buy quite a few nice things, cover rent and utilities, and go on this 3 month Southeast Asia backpacking trip thanks to the poker income. But I could never win consistently on NL200 and my few NL400 shots (during my winning NL200 days) failed. I know it's cause I'm just not good enough in the natural skill department and I don't have the right mindset to be a poker winner - not competitive enough. I have made more of my money due to good discipline and tilt control than due to creative thinking. I can own fish but break even or lose to regs most of the time. And when I move up from NL100 there just aren't enough fish to feed off of (yet there are still lots of fish!)

So I've decided to "quit" poker - and by that I mean I'm going to quit pursuing it as a way to earn a living. I had dreams of grinding 3/6 and 5/10, making big bucks, saving it up and parlaying it into investments, going back to school, a home, etc... gonna give those up. I'm always going to keep playing poker as a hobby that brings in extra cash, but I won't be trying to make my living on poker anymore.

These last 3 months of traveling and taking a long poker break have helped me come to this decision. When I was grinding everyday it was so hard to let go of the dream. But getting some distance made me realize that I tried my best and came up short and now it's time to move on. That's fine. I'm happy about my brief poker "career" and I'm excited about my decision to put my full energy into another field.

So what now? I'm going back to school as I've finally figured out what I want to major in - Psychology / Psychiatry. Haven't nailed down which specific one to do yet and I'll be focusing on that and getting through all the paperwork to get back into school once I get home. For now I have 2 days in Bangkok dodging rioters and bullets and then I'm back to the good old US of A where I get to start a new path. And I couldn't be more excited and happy about it.

Thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way. I will still be involved here on LP and probably gonna go to the WSOP, so I hope to see everyone there again and have another great time. Actually, I'll probably look exactly the same as I always have as I'll be playing poker, posting hands, blogging, etc. The difference will be that the volume will be less and the goal will be changed.

Today I won the biggest pot in my life, which is obv good. I'm so happy i'm reposting this:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_qmW7F07E9_M...Y/s1600/kate-beckinsale-esquire-1.jpg

I also studied properly for my calculus test, and I think I did well; decided to put as much commitment into studies as I do in poker. I actually enjoyed math which I haven't in a while, hope to keep going.

I've slipped in my eating plan, I just haven't been able to restrain from bread/chocolate. Gonna not eat em for next week, this time i'll do it (lol); I usually slip when i'm not at home (i.e friends house, nightouts). However my snatch is getting better, I just love this lift.

Today I reviewed my game with my friend and he found a strong leak; my c/r from utg is 0. We discussed some stuff and there's certain spots which I should be c/r or c/c rather than bet/guessing which is really gross, specially vs fishes on coordinated boards; i'm also reading/watching the bunch of material zulu sent me; having him on aim is definetly EV+

I noticed that i'm enjoying poker more than ever; I used to push myself into grinding at nl25, but now I just love it. I always want to grind for at least an hour every day, which is kinda cool.

Finally congrats to F4Zi (even though I don't really know him) for sick first place on Sunday Warm Up, love watching fellow lpers do good =d

Sunday night by DustySwedeDude, April 18

Decided to play the Sunday donkament on Prima. Finished 31 for like no money at all. Managed to get top 50 or so in it probably around 3-4 times just the last 2 months or so. Can't seem to run good in the end though . Saving up my "deep in donkament"-luck for Unibet Open I guess. Anyway, I started playing some cash (5/10) an did pretty well while I waited for the morning to break.

Off to a morning work out (BJJ) soon. Then sleep.

How do I withdraw from fulltilt? by blackjacki2, April 18

I'm trying to withdraw with method of personal check. I go to the casheir to withdraw and I click "check" and it takes me to this page.

http://w.fulltiltpoker.com/withdrawal#check

But that page doesn't say anything about withdrawing with personal check. Is it blank for everyone else under "Reccomended withdrawal options"? It seems like something is missing there or that I should be able to click the red text.

I know that you're supposed to send in a photo of ID and proof of address but I don't know which email address I am supposed to send that to. Any help? Thanks.

help with NL10 Rush by nvidiamouse, April 18

alrighty, so I am fairly new to poker...been playing about 1 year now, 99% of my play is local free rolls that pay out about 25 or 100$ depending on the venue/league, but i do not find casino (1/2 2/5 games) appealing at all considering i know that locals around here play there and i live in a hick area meaning they are all raging aggressive donks who chase & have no levels whatsoever. so anyway i have had off and on 10$ or so on FT and Stars and usually bust because i refuse to play .1/.2. I usually play HU for 2 or 5$ which i actually do well at even though i've been losing because i play DRUNK which is horribly stupid...but lately when i play sober i've been playing rush at .5/.10 and i completely crushed the tables today...so my question is, someone who is well studied but with little experience can do well at .5/.10 at rush? i've had about 4 sessions and made about 9$ per 20 minutes each session. am i jumping up too high too quick? i completely hate .2/.5 rush, and i completely hate .1/.2 ring games, and i like SNG's and HU's but i don't wanna play those until I'm rolled enough. anyway where does one start? what is a good BI amount? and what is a good stop loss at .5/.10 rush? thx in advance and this is my first blog and i'm drunk now but i've stopped playing drunk, anyway all advice is welcome and i understand that 100% of your advice will probably be "fold pre" or "well played" but that's cool cya and thx

nba play offs yay~~~ by mnj, April 18

-finally some good physical basketball
-games turned out kinda interesting (but not really)
-i can bear playing in a card room the whole day

im a magic fan. as a magic fan i understand this is most likely our last chance to win a title. i think we can beat any team, and really the only team that can beat us is lebron & co. cleveland is the only team i'm scared of, i think the lakers have fallen a lot and after seeing matt barnes out-thug kobe i'm pretty confident we can beat the lakers as well. vince being our closer also scares the shits out of me...he's super unreliable and i'm not sure if i like him taking the last shot. i hear lots of good things about vince from a friend whose part of orlando staff. mainly the fact that he follows and shows support for stan van gundy. this year the media didn't have as much to talk about, and it seemed a lot calmer with less friction between coach and team due to everyone else seeming to just trust/follow svg's instructions. which i'm glad for cause i think van gundy knows basketball (one of the few coaches who do). which is an obvious contrast to rasheed wallace. from what i hear his lazy ass and his noncholant-i-don't-give-a-fuck attitude really rubbed off onto the entire celtics team. which is i guess a partial reason to their demise.

anyway lebron obv wants this title bad (so he can potentially jet out of cleveland). and the thing is he's super ready to win this one too. mentally. experience-wise. and if cleveland lands chris bosh, gg next 5 years yo. i think c.barkely said it best when he said orlando is like the knicks vs chicago. the 2nd best team for like a decade. that makes me want to qq.
