When BP CEO Tony Hayward testified before Congress this morning, many expected to hear him apologize for the disaster his company has caused. Instead, GOP Congressman Joe Barton was the one saying he was sorry -- to BP.
In his opening statement, Barton, the top Republican on the committee overseeing the oil spill and its aftermath, delivered a personal apology to the oil giant. He said the $20 billion fund that President Obama directed BP to establish to provide relief to the victims of the oil disaster was a "tragedy in the first proportion."
Other Republicans are echoing his call. Sen. John Cornyn said he "shares" Barton's concern. Rep. Michele Bachmann said that BP shouldn't agree to be "fleeced." Rush Limbaugh called it a "bailout." The Republican Study Committee, with its 114 members in the House, called it a "shakedown."
Let's be clear. This fund is a major victory for the people of the Gulf. It's a key step toward making them whole again. BP has a responsibility to those whose lives and livelihoods have been devastated by the disaster. And BP oil executives don't deserve an apology -- the people of the Gulf do.
The past week or so I've been really struggling with insomnia. And during the day I've been stuck in a strong malaise. Just feeling completely.. spent. I don't know if I'm getting sick or what. Hopefully it'll pass soon..
More importantly, I finally watched Rounders LOL. It was quite entertaining, Teddy KGB was hilarious and its funny to see where "maney" came from. Oddly I feel a bit more motivated.
Poker hasn't really improved or what not yet, winnings wise, but my volume has been small since my last blog because I've been seriously unable to concentrate or even stay awake for more than a couple of hours on end. I have been playing better the bit I have played, though. And I really appreciate all of the offers of assistance and I still have to take a couple of you up on a sweat and random hand discussion.

Been watching the world cup. Not a fan of soccer until this world cup, after watching England vs US and some other games Ive actually started to enjoy watching people pass the ball around for 90 minutes. Few issues with the game tho. WTF is with draws. Nobody like to win in this sport? 90 minutes of circle jerking and then its like "OK we tied good job that was fun" How can competitive people not want to fkin win?!?! aLSO, shut those fukin horns up. Makes my ears bleed. I watch soccer on mute now. Fukin obnoxious.
Got a 50 dollar bet with StreetsonFire for who does better in the LP thingy. ATM he has 7 i have 5. I didnt even contemplate picking any draws nor did i notice it was an option, of course like every match is a draw. Anyway i plan to win this with random button clicking skills. We also have a 25 last longer bet i have spain he has brazil, OBVIOUSLY spain loses to fukin SWITZERLAND??! fo real?!?! Swiss defense is nothing like their cheese apparently.
Gonna be an awesome weekend starting today. NBA finals wraps up tonight, US OPEN starts which im super exicted about. Got a party friday night gonna get shitfaced, saturday golfing and sunday drinking and watching US Open all day. Maybe some pokers in there too. Cant wait.
new hobby - swinging !!! (NOT)
I am swinging from -11 buy ins to +7 buy ins in 2 last sessions. Damn fuck poker is an interesting and mindfucking game. I wonder what tomorrow brings ? :/ ?
its called "ff unleashed" or "ff unlimited" or something like that.
there are 4.5gig and 10gig versions of it.
it is 2+ hours long and fixes any problem you ever had with the original movie.
eg finished animations, and tons of extra scenes that actually allow the movie to make sense rather than not make sense
if you're a fan of FF7 then this movie (this "updated" movie) is absolutely essential, even though its a large download.
ive watched the ff movie 2-3 times and it was ok. ive watched the ff7 improved movie 2-3 times and it is insaaaaneeeely amazing.
im 11 minutes in and already crying.
im making this post because you might have seen the ff7 movie when it first came out, but the new improved version of it fixes all the holes of the original.
if you were ever confused or thought the ff7 movie sucked, watch this new completed version. its the difference between eating out a smelly 70 year olds vagina vs a nice supple 18 year olds vagina.
look on demonoid or thepiratebay for a download. it might take 2 or 3 days to get but its so worth it.
I figure a bunch of LPers have portal because of the free giveaway from a few months back. I've been playing some custom portal maps lately and found a few good ones i thought i'd share. If you're on the edge about custom portal maps, definitely check out the first one at least.
Enjoy all, let me know if you like them or if u know of other great maps. Theres a ton more maps on this site but i havent gone through them all yet ;D
* Save each map to the "C: - program files - steam - [steamid] - portal - portal - maps" folder
* Unzip any that are zipped
* Run Portal
* Enable the developers console. You can do so through Settings -> Keyboard -> Advanced -> Enable Developer Console.
* Open the Developer Console by pressing ~ or ` (the key beside 1 and under escape)
* Finally type "map" (without quotes) then the name of the map, and press enter. For example: map prl_map1
On some maps you need to load the map using the 'bonus maps' option on the main menu but almost all maps work with the console method.
SOLD OUT
First off, I'd like to say that I'm not a cash game specialist. However, I am pretty competent in them, and definitely have a giant edge over the players at the low stakes live cash games. That being said, I'm going to be playing some live poker this weekend, and I'm a bit short on cash. As far as experience goes, I have probably netted about $2000 in profit for cash games over 20ish trips to the casinos. In addition, I played and won a 40-player live donkament on the first try for a whopping $500. I'll be playing at Casino Morongo (Southern California) for at least two, and possibly three days. I am looking to sell shares of my action, up to 50% due to being under rolled. I am hoping to get a full 5-buyin BR ($1000) together before this weekend, and currently have $500 of my own to put towards it. I'll be playing $1/$3 ($200 buy-in), which are the lowest and easiest stakes. Also, I am doing this at no additional markup, just want to reduce variance a bit. Is anybody interested in this? Previous blogs of mine can vouch for my honesty/reliability/integrity.
Thanks LP

I'm so happy Chile won its first game.. could have been more goals, some misplays but w/e we won and got 3 points against a turtling team. Not winning would have been really bad, specially with Switzerland beating Spain.
My brother wasn't at his apartment so we put a friend's TV there and did drinks + barbaque at 7:00 AM lol. Happily everything went good. Repeating this monday, adding night celebration aswell hopefully.
It was inevitable that Chile dominated the ball trough the whole game, as it happened. Worst case scenario was Chile failing to score, and maybe losing to a counter atack (Spain lolz) while best case scenario was 4-0 ez game. Chile did win, however 1-0.
I think playmaking and strategy was awsome. Going foward, good passes, not random balls to the front. It made me proud to see Chile play like that in such a nit WC.
They did seem really nervous, specially at begining. During the game it seemed to fade away BUT it seems in the last 25 meters they did fuck up a lot of scoring situation due to panic.
In the defense, they did well considering they defended with few players, but Honduras strikers sucked. They pressured really hard, forbiddin Honduras to do elaborated plays; they were always forced to throw ball foward to strikers. They did rush a bit too much sometimes, more calm might have been better at certain situations. Vidal was really good with timings on getting the ball back at midfield.
On the offence it seems if they get their shit together they are gonna do really good stuff. Sanchez showed good he is, even though he miss goal a lot. He can still do a lot better.
Group Situation:
Switzerland's victory over Spain puts Chile in a tough spot. In 2nd round Spain is gonna beat Honduras and Switzerland can aim to tie against Chile, and later secure qualification against Honduras on 3rd round; losing to spain would have forced them to try to win vs Chile. Chile is forced to win vs Switzerland now, cause Spain on 3rd round will have only 3 points and go all in vs Chile; playing them with 3-4 points would be really risky. Even winning vs Switzerland, if Chile loses to Spain and Switzerland beats Honduras it would come to goal difference. With 6 points we put pressure on Switzerland to beat Honduras, and also to go for "score difference" advantage. On the brighter side, if Spain fails to beat Honduras they are fucked up no matter what unless Chile loses. Also, with Spain's today defeat, chilean chances to advance as first in group increases. TBH, I love the team and think they are awsome but dodging Brazil would be great. I trust Chile can take any other team heads up.
Post ur comments on today Chile's game =). Wanna see what foreigners think about our team.
Also props to Uruguay, they didn't choke like mexico to an obvious inferior team and secured a solid win (plus I bet money on both to win vs SA, so this puts me slightly on the positive)
DO NOT POST COMMENTS ABOUT URUGUAY OR MEXICO =) (unless u talk first and more about chile )
