| | ugh stupid $100k freeroll by gawdawaful, January 27
I sat through the first hour getting 1 pocket pair (7s, no action at that on level 2) and two A5o and saw a total of 3 flops. Then I managed to get to 4k some chips only to be called out to help in the yard, stupid parents :/
I come back, blinded down to 2k, and missed AKx3, and the very last hand I missed was AA. To make matters worse, 99 vs QQ all in preflop on that same hand where I'd bust both, or at least triple up to 6k.
That was the last hand before break, come back, 300/600 with 50 ante. Shoved TJ 2 away from CO and BB calls with AK, gg me. 50 spots or so from the cash too, sigh
Guess now would be a bad time to play cash games

| | how its going by OnMyWay, January 27
well the last few days were not succesful
i´ve played more than before, probably ~8 6,5´s a day (yeah this month is quiet)
Chase Fedina helped me a lot reviewing some tables i played and pointed out some weakness i have.
I really appreciated that !
Thanks to her/him (?) BIG TIME !
But i seem to have some problems turning the advice into profitable play.
I still make the same mistakes. Figured also i can´t lay down pockets (88-JJ is giving me hard times)
I am breaking even since a while. currently i would´ve been up this month if i haven´t played that flipament.....
(and i played it really bad, i suck at flipaments )
Good thing is it doesn´t put me on tilt and i am still keen on playing.
Will try the Stefan Raab freerolls they´ve put on.
Didn´t know they do it again, PS is just faster than Mr. Raab himself !

| | Finally! by DustySwedeDude, January 27
Yea, I actually seem to be doing well at NL100 now. I’m up like 5 buyins this week and I’m starting to get a feel for it. It’s a bit less nitty compered to NL50 so I’ve made some bad laydowns but I think that it might be better to be on the tigher side of things, at least in the beginning. A thing that greatly disturbs me is preflop min-raising. For some reason a lot of people on Unibet seems to love to raise to 2 bb with all kinds of shit. It’s just repulsive! I’ve started to reraise that shit with a very liberal range of hands and so far it has worked out really well. The one thing I’m thinking about right now is how big these pre flop raises should be. Assuming that people can do that with things like suited connectors, premium hands and pairs I’d really like to remove any odds for set hunting, but I don’t really know what I think about raiseing to something like 12-14 bb with semi-bad hands that I might have to let go of after a contbet or so. This also applies to normal reraises preflop. If someone has any ideas about this topic I’d love to hear them.
Another thing about reraised pots: I read some “the well with CTS” or something on 2+2 and he talked about how people generally bets to big in a reraised pot since you’ll get people allin anyway because the pot starts out a lot bigger and the implied odds are smaller. I’ve tried this out and started to bet half pot if I’ve reraised something pre flop on most occations. I only bet bigger if there’s obvious draws in the board that I wouldn’t like people chasing. I feel that this is nice since I get away from things cheaper but still gets the same value out of worse hands. Is this good or bad? Anyone?

| | Poker is EZ... by RAHZero, January 27
Alright, so I haven't played too many hands over the past couple nights, but that might not be such a bad thing. Anyway, over the hands I have played I've been playing and running very good. I've snapped off some river bluffs with marginal hands, actually won with AK (AKs was my biggest loser for the month at NL 50), and in general have had a lot of success with ABC poker. Once you table select well, NL 100 really isn't all that much different from lower levels. Last night, I found a 75/1/1 uber-fish and was directly to his right. This was ridiculously profitable, as he was limp-folding all over the place, and calling down with any piece of the board. Finally finished him off with AKs vs. A7o on an ace-high flop.
Graph (the one negative hand was A9 vs. 88 on an Ax89 board vs. a 40/20/10 LAGtard):

| | Still kickin by SakiSaki, January 27
So I havent been able to play as much as I would like to but Im still tearing up the games pretty well. I played one really bad session yesterday where I dropped maybe 5 buyins. Ran in to some sick setups and played a few hands a little iffy. No big deal though since I bounced up pretty good today.
As expected my winrate has dropped a bit. Over my 7,2k hands on partypoker Im running at 9.4ptbb/100 so its still a really good winrate. My stats has also dropped quite a bit and is now around 29/25/4 which probibly is pretty ideal in relation to my skill and the nature of the competition.
The sick thing is that I have a horrible 35% win at showdown. It should be around 50% so I was kinda baffled of how low it was. Im not to worried though. Alot of it can be explained by the fact that so many stations simply c/c down hands and sooo many players valuebet extremely low or make retarded donkbets on the river.
I see it all the time, somebody calls flop checks turn and fires like a 5$ bet into a 25$+ pot. I usually call those bets with quite a wide range and based on results so far I think Im right enough times for it to be profitable.
If I keep running well and playing like a god I will hopefully move back up to 200nl tomorrow.

So, sitting at home all day doing pretty much nothing is....what can i say its AWESOME!!! Spent the entire day watching heroes and can't wait until the next ep comes out until which i'll be watching random poker shows that i've downloaded. Including HSP(high stakes poker) Million dollar cash game and Poker After Dark which for some reason only appeals to me for the table talk/action and not really the game they play. Actually most tournament shows bore the crap through me, and i only really have it on in the background for the sake of sound.
Moving along, my plans for going to the casino yesterday night were foiled by a loan i made to a friend. This probably was a good thing since i'm at the moment i'm pretty much playing horribly and the only good thing i can say about the whole experience is i haven't yet tilted
note to luke/karma: i need help, and i need it fast.
So this means i won't be moving back up to 100nl as quick as i'd hoped too, but i guess it's better to fix my leaks at 50nl than 100 eh?
Anyway this is the computer i WANT atm, not that i have the least likely chance of affording it (£3434 roughly $8,694.4764 AUS yes i converted it ) unless i luckbox some tournament which considering my tourny play is extremely unlikely

I think I'll try to play on NL100 again, cause I can't fully concentrate on my game. I feel I'm able to be a winning player on NL100, it depends on if I will make stupid mistakes or not. The Fancy Play Syndrome hasn't caught me for a while, I hope it is gone forever .

| | A week at the beach by PokerDoc88, January 26
Just got back from vacation, I'm feeling pretty dusty at the moment. I was down in Lorne (it's a pretty famous tourist location in Australia). I'll give a recap of the week, and try to detail high-lights for each day. I hope this post will kinda entertaining to read, it's a nice change of scenery from poker-related posts.
The first day away (previous Saturday) sucked majorly. I don't really like most of my family, and they'd been bitching at each other a fair bit that day. Organising our stuff together before leaving was a nightmare, as they're a bunch of pussies who literally need to take EVERYTHING up with them. My brother took up 2 heaters AND a fan for a 3 night stay away! What's up with that? I literally took the least stuff out of us all, and I was staying away for twice as long. To top things off, my aunt asked me to sleep in the same room as my 17 year old cousin and her boyfriend, to make sure they didn't end up having sex.
Second day also sucked, the weather was really crappy and it rained a fair bit. I was hoping to head down to the beach and splash around for a few hours, but it was not to be. The majority of the day was spent playing cards with my siblings and cousins. Five hundred was a huge hit as usual, as was a great game I taught to them called "You Bastard". Being a slightly depressed and brooding individual, I chose to go to sleep early at 7pm that night after fare-welling my cousins boyfriend. I (happily) missed out on playing Scattergories and Taboo with my family, both of which ended up in massive arguments over some stupid minor technicalities and damaged egos (and awoke me midway through my marathon slumber ).
Waking up at 11am the next day (that's right, I slept for 16 hours XD), I was glad to note that the weather was looking a lot clearer and was eagerly anticipating heading down to the beach. In what could be considered a total blessing for me, my entire family sans my cousin Catherine (the one with the boyfriend) decided it would be a REALLY FUN IDEA to drive 3 hours down the Great Ocean Road to go on some gay tree-top walking tour thing. So from 1pm onwards, Catherine and I were left with the house to ourselves: We ate like pigs, played some cards and video games, then smashed the beach for a good long 3 hours. Best of all, there was no arguing or pointless rabble to be heard (my sister self-centeredly rants about the most trivial bullshit and she never shuts the fuck up). The rest of the crew were delayed from returning home until 12pm that night: This was due to the fact that 1. They got lost, and 2. My Dad is a painfully slow driver who sometimes goes as slow as 60km/h along 100km/h roadways.
Tuesday morning, I was awoken by a phone-call from Ivan the crazy fucking Russian (He's one of my oldest mates), inviting me to Nickos joint that night for a friendly game of $5 sng poker. Finally, things were starting to pick up! My cousin Dave (one of the only people in my family I get along with) came up for the day, and we spent it together at the beach and playing video games. That evening, I said my good-byes to every one, and then headed off to Nickos place to kick the night off. We had a great game of 5-handed poker: Ivan, Nicko, my other best-mate Mike, Nickos dad, and myself made up the 5. There were beers, grilled chicken, good company and horrid poker all night long. Ivan ended up winning the sng by beating my jack-high flush with an ace-high flush (obviously I was coolered XD), scooping the $25 and more importantly, the bragging rights to pay the shit out of me who is the 'pro' amongst us friends (my friends are REALLLLLY bad at poker).
Wednesday started off with French toast (lovely) and a few rounds of an incredibly addictive Russian card game called "Durak". In Durak, 2 or more people can play: How ever, there is no winner, only a loser, who is the "Durak" (which is "Moron" in English). Nicko then pulled out Guitar Hero II, which is a freakin sweet-ass game. We played it for so long that we lost track of time and didn't end up clearing out of his place until 4pm. After a very fucking expensive meal of fish and chips in town, Mike, Iv and myself headed to the camp site (Mike and Iv had been camping in Lorne in tents since Saturday). After setting my stuff up for the next few days, we smashed the beach for an hour (and almost died of hypothermia from ridiculously cold temperatures and gale-like winds) and then started cooking dinner. Dinner at the campsite is a big deal for us: Despite the fact that he's only 19 years old, Ivan can cook a mean fucking meal. He was raised by his mother to become a chef, and although he ditched this dream long ago, he retained the ability to cook up a storm from the blandest of ingredients. Using a pitifully tiny portable stove, a few cans of tuna, pasta and some not-so-fresh vegetables, Ivan brewed up a meal so damn good that we feasted like kings. After dinner, we half-tidied up, got our shit together, and went to hit the town. The night life was pretty dead that evening, so we spent our time drinking in the local pub and getting served super cheap drinks by Nicko (who works there during holidays). Deciding that a room full of old drunk people was no fun, we concluded that the only way to salvage our night was to get absolutely smashed. I don't remember much more of the evening, only that it was pretty damn shit-house, and that the only hot chick in the joint was taken by some bald freaky-looking albino dude.
Thursday was a real struggle: we woke up and our campsite was in a shambles from the night before. We made some sandwiches and spent most of the day playing Durak and getting sunburnt =(. Just as we were preparing to go and cook ourselves a BBQ dinner, Mike decided it'd be a real genius idea to lock his keys inside his car, preventing us from getting all the stuff we need out of the boot. We waited for 2 hours for the RACV to come along and fix our fuck-up. How ever, such occurances are only minor upsets for ballers such as us, and soon we had the BBQ firing and Nicko down with a few cold beers to enjoy the evening meal. Following our feast of meat (which was probably full of salmonella after being stored in an esky for 5 days), we kitted up for yet another night of smashing the gas. Having Nicko on our side of the bar for a change, we hit a place called "The Deck" where we peacefully drank ourselves silly while staring over the balcony at a beautiful scenic view of the beach. When we had decided we'd had enough of The Decks' serenity (and after Ivan stupidly bought a $38 bottle of wine and tipped both bartenders $10), it was time to head off to the more heavily-populated pub. I was feeling pretty damn drunk at this stage, and the bouncers on the door knew it: They asked me how much I'd had to drink, and I said as plainly as I could "not much, just 4 or 5 pots". Truth is, I'd had that plus half a bottle of wine and a few shots of Scotch. Regardless, I was accepted in, and the night kicked off with another round of beer.
So now it's Friday morning and I wake up in my tent alone and there's a chunk of half-chewed sausage next to my head...wait a minute, what the fuck just happened? Nicko was supposed to sleep in the tent beside me that night, but he was no where to be seen. Popping my head out of the tent, I am greeted by Ivan who is sitting at the table pissing himself laughing. I ask him, "What the fuck happened last night?". He then proceeds to recall how I got us kicked out of the pub after abusing some poor 16 year old girl (it wasn't sexual abuse, just verbal beratement), was half-carried back to the camp-site, and then munted all over Nickos sleeping bag. Apparantly I then attempted to clean the vomit with a tea-towel on my hands and knees, but put my hand in it and slipped...arghhhh!!! Spew everywhere! It was a putrid sight, and the smell was even worse. Definitely not my proudest moment. To top it all off, Mike had some-how convinced me to message and ring my ex-girlfriend, because there was a message on my phone saying "Thanks for the message but I cant take it seriously. If ur confused, drunk, or lonely dont convert all that mix up into illusionary feelings so momentary and untrue. I'm over it jonno". WTF was up with that heavy-shit message on my phone? Well, there's only one way to kick back from such a disgraceful performance, and that was to head into town with the boys and buy some oily bacon and eggs for breakfast...wait a minute...what was I wearing? A jumper with a massive hole in the back and mud-stained shorts. Perfect. But being still drunk from the previous night, I didn't give a shit: I just wanted food and sleep.
As for the rest of Friday, well, it was pretty uneventful. Same combo of Durak, sunburn, and beach. We were too stuffed to even cook properly that evening, settling on 2-minute noodles and sausage rolls at The Deck. Given that it was Australia Day, the town was bursting at the seams with tourists that night, and we DID plan on having a great time...but there was something missing. Maybe it was the fact that this night was the 7th consecutive night for Mike and Ivan on the gas, or that I was horribly hung-over. Or maybe it was because at 12pm, the band was still playing horrible cover songs at the pub when all we wanted was some house music to boogey to (yes, we were drunk again, but not leglessly wasted). Perhaps it was the abundance of creepy old guys hitting on under-age sluts... alas, we returned to our tents at 1:30pm, and slept our final sleep.
Saturday morning (ie. today) we woke up at 7:30am, packed our shit up, and were ready to leave at 8:30am. Mike had stupidly agreed to play cricket at 1pm, hence our early morning departure. But not even that could go smoothly for us, as Mike had managed to drain his car battery to the point that it would no longer start. After a few embarrassing failed attempts to get Ronda the Honda started, a big burley bloke came over and offered Ivan and I the final bit of oomph we needed to push her along and get her fired up. The car trip was really uneventful, except for a royal fuck-up in ordering breakfast at McDonalds, which resulted in us paying for an extra meal we didn't want (or eat).
So here I am, posting this blog. If any one bothered to read it all, I hope you got a few laughs out of it. I certainly enjoyed my week away, but after 4 consecutive nights of being smashed and sleeping in pitiful conditions, it feels good to be home with a mattress and pillow.

Starting a blog today. Mostly to keep track of my monthly status, and to inspire myself to stay sharp.
Current situation is well, playing 1-2 NL and 2-5 NL with a 3.8k bankroll. Started taking poker seriously about 3-4 months ago, but have been playing cards since I was 8. Currently a live player only, but looking to deposit a portion of my roll to PokerStars.
Leaving now for a session of 2-5 NL at Casino Niagara. Ship the money, honey.

| | Results from Friday Session by DonVale, January 26
So here I am, got some bug idk what it is, so I don't even go out on a friday night like any other guy my age because I have SATs tomorrow morning. End of story, I played exactly 1000 hands to boost my bankroll all the way to $163.57 from $160.70. It seems that whenever I play 1k hands I usually dump a little money at about 800 untill the end by making questionable calls. At least the bankroll went up in this session though and I never once really tilted. I'm gonna post some hands here so that hopefully you can discuss them. Thanks LP!
Hand #1:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137689
ok so I call here in position on the button because with this hand I figure I can flop big, which I sort of did. So then we have the SB minbet and then somebody minraises. Now I just do a standard raise (I think). Next, the initial minbettor calls the two reraises. So I think he is probably just on the flush draw or stupid enough for the straight draw. Next card is essentially a blank so when he checked I thought I would just take the pot down right there. But, no of course the SB minraises me. The only hand I guess I can put him on there is A7 or KJ. Finally, I just folded because with his minraise he had 82 cents left so I figured any hand he would commit himself with was better than my middle two pair. My question is: was the hand played correctly and was this a good fold? Also, should I be playing these SC’s on the button in a limped pot like this?
Hand #2:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/137690
this hand I think was pretty straightforward. I considered the other player in the hand a complete donk and I think this hand shows it. So I think I open the pot with a raise and get the one caller. Next, I do just a continuation bet which is just standard. But, the other player cold calls it. So, on the turn the straight draw is completed so I just check. I don’t know why I gave up the lead there I guess I just thought my hand was in danger. I give up the lead to much I think in this situation. But, the other player bets like 1/3 pot. I took this as them being weak which we find out to be true. I call the turn bet and wanted to reevaluate on the river. The river comes another 3 and I see no way how this card could’ve helped the other player’s cause. They essentially go all-in leaving 2 cents behind. I finally call because of the weird turn bet and then all-inning on a stupid card.
Was this call justifiable and should I have kept the lead betting the turn?

Hi all again:
Current BR: $160.70
Current Stakes: NL5
Ummmm, i think i'm gonna keep playing NL5 until 225-250ish then play NL .02/.05 blinds until about 350. I think I am being very conservative as far as BR management goes, but I think this can make me more disciplined until i can stop tilting completely. I'll be back in like 1.5k hands to give u an update

I busted out 3rd on a 180man $4 + 0.4 SNG in a situation where I should've won. I guess my mistake if you will, came 3 handed where I let my chip lead dwindle
http://www.liquidpoker.net/information/f/145857/last/FT_3_handed_pock_Js.html
After that I battled back into the lead to 130k chips and then ran into KK and AA, gg me. Oh well, nice lil booster. Hopefully I'll play more successful sng/tourneys over the weekend.

I don't exactly know why i'm doing a blog just like the rest of people here, but i've thought for a week about this and i must take this out of my mind. So at least you are going to see this first post. It's pretty much a waste of time for me cause im such a perfectionist and english is not my first language.
I don't really spend to much time reading other ppl's blog so i'm not going to be sad if my blog is ignored.
Some things about me.
I'm playing poker since september 2005. First i played at -if i remember corectly - Eurobet only with play money. Playing there for fun first made me think i'm good and that i can beat this game easily. Then i made a $55 deposit to PokerStars and played pretty much every day since then. That cause i like this game. It is fun and very entertaining. But a big part of the fun doesn't come from the game itself but from reading this site. I have more to say about this but maybe another time.
From december until monday this week i lost half of my bankroll weeeeeeeee
Then i started to play less tables and won some money ... not very significant but it's important that i was able to play a better game... i was more focused and didn't ended down in no session...
Ok this is getting to long ...
Bye
