| | Converting my PT to PostgreSQL by JonnyCosMo, April 14
Woooot! So at my home game last weekend Pavel and Lyric were telling me about converting my PokerTracker database to this PostgreSQL format shit so it wont freeze everytime it imports hands. Like wtf... why dont people tell me these things exsist earlier! So I have about 330,000 hands in my database right now, so I'm waiting for all this shit to get converted.
Anyways, after doing that, Lyric has shown me to this new software that apparently calculates your EV on your database and can pretty much show you how good/bad your running over a sample of hands. Unfortunately the site is down at the moment, but I'm def. gonna jump on it when it gets back and running. The program is only in it's beta version, so dont expect too much yet.
LINK: http://www.pokerevsoftware.com/program/beta.html
Also, another thing to give you guys a heads-up about is the PokerStars Buddy List Program created by the good semi-hard working but mostly half-assed people at TheCashDB.com. Definitly an awesome program for tracking your fish(the only good thing to come from that website). You can find that here:
LINK: http://www.thecashdb.com/index.php?page=software
As for thecashdb.com in general, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR IT! It's a total scam, they barely have any hands on anyone. It's a total garbage website trying to rip players off for $50 at a time. The makers of that website are as gay as my friend's smile in this picture --->
Pretty fuckin gay eh?

| | Downgrade to .01/.02 by mrwongie, April 13
Well i downgraded myself, to play with the donkeys and fishes. I was running around 5bb/100 in nl10 but my swings were bad. I win 50 one day and lose 45 the next day. I also was running like 3bb/100 at nl25 but i don't like the swings that come with bigger micro limits since my bankroll is only 130(due to a cashout(450) and a bad day, which i lost ~100 at nl25.)
I was playing around at .01/.02 and i didn't realize they freaking suck so much. They were calling my all-in push of $1+ dollars with jq,jt. During the ~300 hand 8 tabling at pokerstars (need a new monitor to 12 table) i won a whopping 10 dollars (500bb). Yep i know 300 is not that much amount of hands. Now i am waiting for my PT. hopefully i get it soon so i can post some graphs of my winnings .

| | Back to 4k! by Trey, April 13
Finally got my bankroll back after all the tilt sessions and bad play.. Took a shot at nl200 and got allin preflop with QQ against a 39/27, lost a race.. ended up -150 after like 750 hands.
Moved back to nl100 and made 4 buyins in 900 hands... ship it
br - $4,050
Oh and on a side note - we got the apartment, but we cannot move in until the start of May.. I can't wait to finally get a good internet connection and to be able to play after work instead of going to girlfriend's house.

| | A call analysis by Emi, April 13
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/174190
Ok, if he had a pair, why would he check it on flop ?
If he had two hight cards (KJ etc.), i beat them
If he has medium overpair, like TT / JJ, why slowplay it since a K or A can come and scare him ?
If he has a monster hand, why not try to extract more by betting on the flop ? And he should be afraid of flush and straigh
Finally, they were two draws on flop, straigh and flush, both missed, so that is the thing the river bet can most probably be

| | Expectations by DarkMigore, April 13
Last post I said that i wasn’t going to make a big deal about poker, and it’s working out fine. When I take things too serius, my performance is worse then when I don’t. I already noticed that in other things, like soccer, studies, but now I have numbers and it’s more convincing. Maybe I’m just in a good run, I had others, but I think I'm slowly improving. I think it happens because when I take things serius, my expectations on my performance increase more then the performance itself, consequently, I get frustrated, then, the psicological factor becomes a trouble.
I’ll try to keep my expectations real, if it’s too high I’ll get frustrated, and if it’s too low I’ll not play hard enough. I have a little bit more experience now in poker and I think I have some base to create my expectations, so I can play my A game.
Didn’t played so much this week due to college stuff. My BR is +- 80.
Some hands:
1- http://www.liquidpoker.info/h/174140
Almost folded in the turn, thought of 66. Don't know if any other hand would play like that.

That was close...

| | April 13th, 2007 (96.80) by KingKory, April 13
Today's summary:

Commentary:
1 step forward, 96.80 steps back.
I started the session off by terribly misplaying my KQdd hand. From there, it all went downhill. It seems I was picking bad spots to be aggressive, and - at times - feeling like I was being run over. I ran into a few tough players this session (or atleast I had trouble with them) -
Lucky_Luke15: 15/10/inf, I really don't think he made any big moves on me, he was just catching some cards. Here's one BoB hand. He claims he had AJo, but I have a feeling he was a bit stronger than that.
TX2StepBaby: 60/4/3, TERRIBLE stats, but he was very aggressive against me, and would pounce if I should the slightest bit of hesitance. I have a feeling he stole a couple off me.
JeffreyNSU: 40/14/1.5, short-stacked guy would would also get very aggressive if checked to. I just wasn't able to capitalize on these guys throughout my entire session.
Even after reading vital[Myth]'s column regarding aggressiveness, I refused to back down, and tried to beat these guys at their own game. Most of my money was lost 2-barreling missed flops, only to c/f the river. I remember one of my 2-barrels being successful this session.
Anyhow, after the first 200 or so hands, I knew I wasn't playing my A-game, and I should have stopped. I actually learned a lot from playing against these super aggressive villains, and I think I can take away something positive (not money lol) from this session.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173903
Top 3 losers:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173904 This was truly the beginning of the end for me. I actually meant to move the slidebar a couple ticks over ~$6.50, but even that wouldn't have been enough. After short-betting the turn, could I have folded this river?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173905 Donking my chips away against a relative unknown. He 3-bet me out of a pot a few hands earlier, and that obv means he's going to get sneaky on me here, right? Stupid.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173906 Don't ask.

| | Exam at University in 2h by PplusAD, April 13
Okay so i have an important Test at University today.
I have learned basically not enough to be sure to not fail
But hey i guess thats just normal for all of us LP addicts
I have read some stuff about the Test roughly 3 hours yesterday evenening and i remember some stuff from my course so i have a chance
I will reread it again now. ( i have not enough time to really go deep ^^ but i will gallop trhough it to reassure i have at least a basic idea what the test will be about.)
So my situation right now is comparable to playing an SNG
Sitting UTG with a small pocket pair like 33 having only 8 BB left.
I go allin and hope for the best.
my chances are not that bad considering i am a slight favourite here most of the time unless the questions are really evil ( like KK QQ JJ or something)
On the otherhand i could easily be beat by any overcard
-_- ( means one fucking subject area that i dindt learn properly could kill me if there are a few questions about it)
SO i expect to have some luck and find a decent villian
who calls me with A2o.
I gotta gamble a bit but the odds are in my favour !
GL to me
(Last time i said that i got beaten by four of a kind T_T)
But this time i am gonna take the pot.

| | Pokerstars Support reads my blog by Daut, April 12
In reply to an email, one of the members of the stars support team asked me if anyone from pokerstars has confirmed my attendance at the WPT championship, cause I guess they are the ones buying me into the event since PCA is a pokerstars sponsored tourney. I sent back no and told them I was indeed going to the event. I got this as a response back.
| | Hi Ryan,
Ok, We are working out the details of that now.
We will most likely wire the money to the Bellagio, and it will be there
for you when you get there, but as soon as we have the details sorted out,
we will let you know.
Good luck in the Championship.
And BTW, absolutely love your blog. The pics are priceless
Best Regards,

That's awesome. Jeanne rules.
so anyway, I just got back from the movies, I went to see grindhouse. it's these 2 full length horror movies with sweet trailers in between them to comebine for over 3 hours of pure awesomeness.
Pretty much the greatest movie of all time. There were zombie type creatures, gogo dancers, explosions, a girl with a machine gun for a leg, and that was just the first movie. I actually just registered for imdb for the sole purpose of giving this movie a 10. It's obvious that Robert Rodriguez has a machine gun for a dick because only a man made out of that could make a movie this awesome.
If sin city and kill bill had a baby, and raised it like a spartan warrior, it would become this movie.

I highly recommend that all of you see it asap.

| | Interesting by gawdawaful, April 12
In jonnycosmo's blog seen here he pointed out that along with several other 200NL regs that Mondays and Tuesdays seem not nearly as profitable as the other days.
I decided this was worth looking into to see if this is replicated at lower stakes, and sure enough, over the last 3 weeks (minus easter Monday because its a holiday in many places,) my stats were as followed:
11991 hands, $417.45 profit at 50nl for 3.48bb/100
Also, on March 20th, that was a massive heater day for me too. 2005 hands for $347.05 profit. So taking that day out, I would've been grinding 8k hands for just over 1 buyin.
On the other hand, if we included Easter Monday (where I had another decent day since well, its a holiday) my total for the past 3 weeks' Monday + Tuesday would be
14942 hands, $795.20 for 5.32 bb/100
Anyways, total stats in my current 100k run:
62298 hands, $4036.95, 6.48bb/100
PS: I donked off just about all my money on party poker, so Iguess I'll just stick to pokerstars
PSS: For anyone thats interested, heres how I calculated bb/100
[profit/(bb amt/2)]/(hands/100) = bb/100

| | lol headsupaments by SneakrFreakr, April 12
So I had a decent session in the morning. Played for like 3,5hrs and made $220. I wasn't running hot or anything but I just wasn't getting any bad beats except for just one AA vs TT in 3bet pot that I lost (he flopped a set). Felt good about my game and was going to play another 3-4hr session in the evening but first I decided to warm-up on nl50 HU on UB and obviously I lost exactly what I won on 6max today thanks to hands like this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173433
I was planning to play 30-40 minutes only but ended up wasting 2,5hr there. I'm not in a mood to start a session on 6max now so I think I'll just go to bed early and get up tommorow and start pwning noobs on Party exclusively. I withdrew money from all other rooms except for Party and I'm gonna keep them on Neteller (and the rest on Party) as I don't want to be tempted by playing some HU or donkaments on other sites. I want to fully focus on 6max and finally move to nl200.
Here are my stats from today (I know, I played awfully nitty and omg my AF on flop was too high again ) and some hand histories:

Meh, I don't think I like how I played it. Bet turn? As played call river?
4. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173443
I hate these spots and have no idea how to play them. What's my plan now? Villain was 23/15/7 after only 90 hands.
5. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173445
Too nitty? Villain was 21/18/7 after 80 hands or so.
6. http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/173447
I don't like how I played it but luckily I still got his stack. Best option would be leading on turn probably. What you think guys?
That's it for now, time to watch some Rome and go to bed early and 100% focus on 6max Party tommorow. Holla

| | BACK TO FULL RING!!! by nolan, April 12
LOCK UP YOUR KIDS, NOLAN IS BACK IN TOWN.
I played my first session at 200nl Full Ring on Stars the other day. I did OK, kinda ran blandly (Only had Aces once and it folded to me in the BB) and had some kinda bizarre "coolers". (AK vs A7 in a 3bet pot on an AJ7 board)
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1882/frsessionyo7.jpg
Fortunately I won alot of middle sized pots so things turned out in the plus. The games were kinda tough being a weekday, but I think with some weekend sessions I can sustain a slightly higher winrate. Hopefully anyways.
In other news, There are flagrant rumours going about that I am a Harvard student. These are not true, rather my University allows an exchange program where I can take a class at any University along the Amtrak train line (Maine, UNH, Harvard, BU, Northeastern, BC etc.) if my university does not offer it. So although I am a registered Harvard student, it is one class and is misleading. I apologize for the misunderstanding, I'm only a little smart, not quite mega smart.
Speaking of University, it's pretty hard, so if you're doing OK at poker and still in High School you should defer until you're done with poker to go to school because balancing poker/social life and schoolwork is difficult.
Also, if you guys could suggest some good movies to rent (one's I probably have not seen) I would greatly appreciate it.
And lastly, I would greatly appreciate any commentary on my PT stats, I personally think they are interesting and outside the realm of a typical 200nl FR player.

| | i love ps by Xsho123, April 12
just as I am getting boring in poker and the regulars at ub is getting to a about 70% in fr (25nl) I feel a need to do something else. Saw what ToT)Midian did and tried to follow but beating 2cent table does take ages to build up a roll.
After a long while, I have finally managed to convert my 25-> 50, but today discovered 16 and 32 SNG heads up! I wasn't even think how damaging it would be to me BR by playing in 5$ SNG but it was fun. I went and played a couple, lost badly and before I realise, I only have 25 left. At this point I am getting upset -> depress then said fuck it and went on a hyper mode. This actually worked out much better than I thought, being crazy aggressive and getting my money back.
I think I am going to take a halt at cash game and play more HU SNG, because they are just way more fun. I end my day at 44, but I probably won't go back to cash until I have got 10 dollar left.

| | April 12th, 2007 (60.35) by KingKory, April 12
Today's summary:

Commentary:
Real good session this morning. I've decided to stay with my more open game for now. I was able to stay aggressive and active while making very few big moves on pots. This would have been a huge session if douchenut hadn't cracked my AQ on the river. I'm back even for the month, with over half the month remaining; feels good to finally get over that first 4 BI slide.
My numbers are dramatically increased, and I don't even notice a huge difference in my play. I merely opened my range for 3-betting/raising with limpers, and the jump is pretty huge.
Anyhow, I'm at work now, and I have to pick up the TANKMAN from the vet in a couple hours. I hope he's okay; I also hope he doesn't have a bunch of sticthes up his nut(air)sack like some sort of Frankenstein pornstar.
Not many interesting hands besides the top 3 winners/losers I guess. Pretty much a good solid session.

| | Private lesson by SneakrFreakr, April 12
So I had a private lesson yesterday w/ Andrew from CR (won it long time ago) and it was quite good. I was running superfuckinghot but only preflop. I was getting AK AQ AA KK QQ JJ all the fuckin time, only to get slapped in the face by every flop. Stuff like 4bet pot preflop, 3 way against 2 horrible fish, flop comes AQ9 all clubs and I don't have one etc. I picked up a few things from him, he also said that my went to showdown is a bit too low and that I should loosen up a bit from the big blind. We got some marginal spots, but we missed some situations that I wanted to know his opinion about, but in the end I was asking some questions and I pretty much got my anwsers. W played for like an hour and I ended losing $50 or so which is not too bad considering how terribly I was running postflop.
Hopefully I'll be running better today. I also need to start learning cause I spent maybe 15 minutes on it yesterday lol. But I've got time - over 3 weeks to the exam. Ezzy. Time to play some poker.
