Yesterday I was in the USA embassy in Warsaw and got my visa application accepted !! Weeee USA here I come ! I'm going to visit my cousin there with her brother. We're going to stay there for like a month or a little bit longer. My cousin lives near Milwaukee, Wisconsin but we're planning on visiting some other states too, for instance Florida or maybe even fly on Hawaii or Bahamas . It'd be nice if you suggested us some cool must-see places in US that we'll be able to reach pretty easly.
Poker is going pretty good lately, I've had two -2,2k days this month so far but managed to win it back and now I'm up about $4,3k. Here's the graph - it doesn't include Party and Stars stats (where I'm down like $2-3k lol) because I was too lazy to get them from my old computer (oh btw. I FINALLY GOT A NEW PC ^_^ - I don't have to get angry anymore because of it freezing and restarting without a reason) - this is from ongame only
I smoked a joint the other night, which i rarely do and it put me to sleep for almost a whole day. I woke up feeling like crap so i went back to sleep and when i was feeling better i decided i had to makeup for the sessions i lost. I guess i still wasn't in the best shape cause i sat down on 4 tables of 6max and lost 2 buyins within 10min. Decided to get some coffee, relax for 5 min n get back to it. I got back to my computer and for some reason wanted to 3 table hu nl50. The first part of the session went very well, was up 3buyins but for some reason i lost control of myself and started making tons of mistakes... my mentality was to crack everyone and win every single hand...needless to say i dropped ~12-13 buyins over the course of 2hrs. I was steaming rly hard and opeend my cashier to see the damage and was ssoooo mad.!!! almost a whole weeks work gone! Had a smoke, drank my coffee and sat down at 2 nl100 hu tables (worst move ever!) but was in a solidmentality and really was focused on playing well and making my monies back. I did this with about 12buyins of that limit in my account. I played very well, stuck to my game and got lucky with some mediocre villains and managed to make back 530.00$ of my losses back. I obviously happy i made most of my losses back, but mad that i lost control. I'm gonna think of ways to getmyself from now steaming like i did, cause one day this will result in me going busto. Yoga? kinda gay... Can't go for a jog really cause i play late at night... well. that was my rant... had a long session but i think im still okay to get back to ym usual 6max games for a couple more hours.
so where to start.. i suppose an introduction is in order. i've been playing poker on and off since 04/05 or so.. used to be really into it in university and had several friends who went on to some major success
as for me, i stuck with school, graduated and have a happy job. I still take an interest in poker despite a lack of time to really study the game.
I play a mix of live/online, a range of cash and tourneys. I live in London so theres a pretty good mix of live games going on. My highest limits were 600NL but i've always tended to play out of my bankroll and have a predilection for using the online casino. As could be expected variance > my bankroll so I have gone busto to robusto and back again several times. I blame this on several character deficiencies such as boredom/lack of patience/not taking BRM seriously. So i've set myself a challenge
- i've deposited $500 on cake and gotten the sign up bonus.
- I've purchased a membership to deucescracked and bought a copy of HoldEmManager
I intend to become a regular style grinder playing 1/2 tables at a time of 25NL and the occasional MTT, STT. I'd like to become a more regular contributer to forums/discussions of hands and strategy. I've had the opportunity to do a lot of self introspection but have generally suffered from not having someone to discuss hands with in the aftermath.
got deep in so many tournaments today but got fucked by stupid shit a lot and I dont even know how this final table happened but it's still stupid because i made like 25 dollars lol
So, I finally figure these games out and I go on a sick downer. Who would have thought you can go on a 19 buyin downer at 50Nl? I know you guys dont believe in pokerEV for the most part, but it has me running at 16 buyins under expectation. After reviewing all of my big pots, most were in fact coolers. There are 2-3 buyins lost due to "spew" so to speak. Spots where I didnt have to get the money in, was a pretty marginal spot etc. Anyways, I did decide to move down to 25NL and have been doing much better and hopefully will be moving back up soon. Probably once I reach 20 buyins for 50NL again. I did a few sweat sessions and they have helped my game tremendously, and overall I have changed my game a good bit thanks to marshall and JEM87. Overall I guess im not terribly disappointed in the downswing since it legitimately seems to just be a sick bad run.
Otherwise, life has been ok. I ended up ending things with the last girl I was talking to, and am now talking to a much more sensible girl. Cute, extremely intelligent(in the honors program here), not a crazy partygirl/slut. Overall a great girl, and one I very well may find myself dating seriously and settling down with. I guess I am pretty excited.
I am currently looking into apartments to move into since it turned out our rent at the fraternity house has increased so much that it would be just as expensive to live in a nice apartment here. I sort of want my own place so hopefully I can find a place and get it locked up soon.
This year ill be taking 18 credit hours and hopefully getting into our honors program after the first semester. I finally settled on Psychology as my major, and will hopefully attend law school after. I am guessing I have 2-2 1/2 years left in school here. Overall I am extremely excited for the school year to start.
I figure I should probably try to approach my learning omaha a little differently from how I approached learning hold'em, playing less tables and trying to look through sessions at least a little bit (and hopefully try to play every day.. yeah we'll see about that one ).

I'm happy that my W$WSF is slowly rising, I need to find more spots to 3bet preflop tho. I'm really scared of 3betting hands with an ace in them, like say, AJTQ (suited or not), because I'm not sure how I'm supposed to react if 4bet.. Leads to a bit too many check/folds from the blinds I think.

In addition, I decided to record an hour or so of play to submit to the Cardrunners "leak finder" series, if it turns out ok (still producing) I guess I'll use it, otherwise maybe I'll post it here and ask for opinions =] I wonder if the ski-slope effect coincides with me starting the recording!
Might try to make more videos (Deucescracked has a similiar series so maybe I can submit one there as well :D), just for my own review.
Hands:
A few pay-offs: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486762 - Ehh this is weird, I know my hand isn't super strong or anything but the only hand I could think of that he plays like this is 9T and I didn't think there were a ton of ways for 9T to get to the river.. In addition my hand might (maybe?) look more like a set of aces or something so maybe he turns some hand into a bluff.. Eh I dunno, would like opinions on what to do as a default in these spots when I don't know my opponent.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486739 - Bleh guess I should fold river, I've been trying to not fold as much (went to sd went from normal low 20s to 27 this session ) and my thinking was he could bet a flushdraw here too, I have a 9, he might lead kings etc. Yeah a bit too stationy.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486750 - I'm a little lost in these situations.. Given the river the call is fairly trivial imo but like say it blanks off completely.. I don't feel like I can continue betting turn really either, I guess a king could call 2 streets and I've got an easy fold if raised?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486733 - It feels like such a good card for him to just pot, pot once I c/c.. Meh. Q: preflop, how bad is it to call a raise with something like his hand, AAAX suited once?
Folds: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486837 - Mm, I was going to at minimum call vs only 1 player, but with the second guy calling I was sort of lost. Not only will I have a difficult time on A LOT of turns, but he could be slowplaying (since the flop is about as safe as omaha flops get for a set).. Is a call still mandatory?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486807 - Hmmm, given there's no special dynamic going at all (don't remember seeing him before, although my HUD stats were out of position for some reason so I thought he was a TAGgish guy, wondering why I didn't remember someone I had 800 hands on lol) can I raise the flop? Like, am I taking it too far trying to adapt to omaha from hold'em?
Is there any point in perhaps betting turn to get him off a low straight? Or is he just sandbagging KQXX too often here?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486881 - Should I assume my flush draw is live here? I don't think I had played with this player for very long at this point (but he seemed verrrrry aggressive later on, heh) and it feels very weird for him to make this raise on an A high board.. Could it even be a good idea to 3bet this flop?
General Qs: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486632 - I feel like checking here achieves the exact same result vs any boat and gives "bluffs"/weaker hands a chance to try to bluff me off aces or whatever. I think this is good..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486626 - hm.. raise/stack off flop I think.. I have some outs, block the big sets and am in excellent shape vs all wraps and flushdraws.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486844 - HUGE missed value here.. I'm not sure about turn (he could still c/r some big draw here and I don't think I can call..?). River, hrm, I was worried about a c/shove but I guess he's gonna call me pretty lightly here as there's a lot of missed draws. I'd probably check river too if I checked the turn with a set here tho, but I guess most people wouldn't. I think I worry about "what if.."'s too much.
EDIT: actually thinking about this some more, I really don't think anyone is tricky enough to not bet turn here with a set. I really need to bomb turn and PROBABLY call off at this point... If he just calls I should probably bet river too, hm.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486744 - Fold pf? Flop is.. flushdraw, pair, gutshot..... I think I've gotta get it in although I suppose I should be worried about him betting 3 way..? Ugh, another thing is, is the guy coldcalling MORE or less reason for me to call a 3bet? Ya, better odds but I suppose my weak 2nd FD is hurt a lot by him being in the pot?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486840 - Raising this flop is awkward because it looks *SO* strong, but calling is also problematic since I'll let every set draw for free. I suppose it's important I do this kind of raise if I want to do it with the naked Ah...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486609 - I didn't realize I had a set at first so I just checked quickly, but I think a c/r here is pretty good actually since if the 2nd guy has a bigger FD my c/r will (maybe) free up a bunch of outs for me and I'm ahead of the nuts here anyway.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486756 - Eh.. this is a little too loose UTG isn't it? Once I call tho (which, with position, stacks and the fact that I made a 3x open instead of pot, I have to) the hand is oh well, I think I've gotta play it like this?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/486612 - Hm I'm thinking I shouldn't be doing these things without knowing them at least a little.. And I picked a pretty bad board for it. River is especially bad, the primary hand he'll fold is a flushdraw, which I'm ahead of. Oh well.
OMG, school just barred me from the 2008 Winter/Fall semester because of low marks from last year! What a freaking cooler, my parents are going to murder me. Double cooler because I'm Asian FUUUUUUUUCK!
So I have one year to work and do whatever, I'm guessing it's going to be poker. By this rate, I'll be done undergrad when I'm 24/25, fucking disgusting. If I go for my masters, 29 is when I start work? WHAT THE HELL.
Anyone been in my shoes? Any advice besides /wrists? HALP.
After getting sickly coolered by a 44v66 on 22476 board, and another set on a straight board i was furious! "Damn those small pockets!"- i thought,-"Damn you! I call raises with you preflop and even when you do get a set you get bested? Damn you!"
I figured i'd go take a nap, cry some in the pillow perhaps, i was pretty tired, and will have to go to work in about hour and a half. But i looked at the clock and i saw that i still had 30 minutes of the time i dedicated to this session. "Ill be strong, ill get through it"- i thought.
In a few minutes i get this:
Dealer: Game #18891130106: PPPP77 wins pot ($17.13) with three of a kind, Tens
Dealer: Game #18891155518: Bepoop wins pot ($0.12)
Dealer: PPPP77, it's your turn. You have 8 seconds to act
Dealer: PPPP77, it's your turn. You have 8 seconds to act
Dealer: craige1975 has high card Ace
Dealer: PPPP77 has three of a kind, Nines
Dealer: Game #18891167820: PPPP77 wins pot ($5.48) with three of a kind, Nines
All in 3 hands time!
Sick!
Sorry i ever sweared at you small pocket pairs! I love you ill call all-ins preflop with you now!xD
And screw you all who didnt believe in setting time limits! s2 timelimits!
P.S.: oh yeah and i got for the first time ITM yesterday in the 10FPP buyin PS turbo. Got 350+~ish and .30 or .35 as my winnings!
Not much but its my first! YAY!
im so ridiculously bad at this game it's not even funny
i cashed out 1k to sort of compensate for all the time i spent on poker this summer and left myself 400 to play nl10 this summer lol
woooww even if i four table i just play carelessly and fail to develop any useful reads. and if i multitable i just randomly spew around a ton (example: omg i misclicked minraise... now i have to bluffshove this river omgomg)
so in conclusion:
a. i can't nit it up cuz i suck at it
b. i can't play laggy either cuz i suck at reading hands
so what the hell are my options lol
it obv does not help that im:
a. lazy
b. utterly careless
b. mentally elsewhere all the time
c. korean
brb going to look for something else to do with my life, since i am by nature incompatible with this game
on a different note, this chick is so obviously interested in me no joke lol shipppit i still got itt hahahaha no job no life no future all game baby hahahahahahahaha

Summary Total pot $166.40 | Rake $0.50

Well , many of u may think this is a very bad descision
but somehow i feel it was the right thing to do
so i reached 4900 BR yesterday being up ~ 3K $ for the month ...
I was to take my first Nl200 shoots today
well went ofc not good ...
played bad run bad went down to Nl100 and tilted away another buy in - 510$ in 20 minutes overall ...
I took the descision that i probably shall grind out Nl100 for a little longer
overall there is enough money to be made at Nl100 to satisfy me for the momment.
I just rememberd when i tried to move up to Nl100 the first few times ...
overall i lost 1,7K in 3 shoots .... before i finally managed to make ~3K profits out of it ...
I am so not keen on this happening at Nl200 and losing half to 2/3 of the money i made this month due to titly shoots desperatly trying to become a Nl200 reg ...
So i cashed out 2K of my roll reaving myself behind with 2,4K for Nl100 6max...
this makes sure i wont play Nl200 in the near future cause after cashout i am nowhere close to being rolled for it
I will just grind out and profit in the limits i know i beat
I had a sick breakthrough in poker the last months skillwise and moneywise by far in July ...
And i somehow feel i need more time to get used to the new situation from a psychological point of view.
I feel like i fucked up RL a bit cause of not being able to really deal with my recent success in poker
i hope this will keep me down on earth and concentrate on school and stuff a bit more
the gameplan was to pack everything up, leave at midnight and drive 14 hours straight to my muster call looking and feeling totally out of it
so I called the number of the retention NCO in charge given to me on my orders..
SFC w/e his name was hello?
Hi this is #@$% @#$%. I'm calling about my muster orders.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I won't be there for like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
you wanna just do it Monday?
Sure, but what about my orders, it says it has to be done by the 17th
oh, we'll just stamp it in that we did it that day then
ok works for me
kbye
standard
sooooooo I got to waste some time
While screwin with my sweet azz new laptop after playing some poker, I realized I've never messed with the webcam that it came with -- I don't ever use webcams, but just had a hey why the hell not lets see if it works moment -- ofc w/ Vista it didn't
after figuring out how to get an internal webcam working with vista...I was tinkering with the youcam settings and made a couple short random clips w/ no sound. Here is one of them. Guess I gotta get the mic workin next
for your entertainment if your that bored!
This is without a doubt the longest session I've ever played lasting over 14 hours. I ran pretty bad overall today but I'm also a gigantic spewtard and shove everytime it gets checked to me so I guess I can blame most of it on that. So I guess I'm gonna have to work on this and control myself to not be trigger happy.
Another thing today is that everyone kept quitting me right after they win 1-2 buyins and refuse me play me even though they're sitting at other tables so that was kind of annoying.
I played against 57 different players today and half of them hit and ran me
ohbaymyshay9: bets $134
Python817 : calls $133.50 and is all-in
Uncalled bet ($0.50) returned to ohbaymyshay9
Showdown ohbaymyshay9: shows (two pair, Kings and Tens)
Python817 : mucks hand
ohbaymyshay9 collected $412.50 from pot
Summary Total pot $413 | Rake $0.50
Board
Seat 1: ohbaymyshay9 (big blind) showed and won ($412.50) with two pair, Kings and Tens
Seat 2: Python817 (button) (small blind) mucked
I posted a lot of hands but don't wanna list all the big pots here since I get it in every other hand so it'd take way too long
this is all 1-2 tabling HU at the end I just donated 1 buyin to some fish and was playing really bad T_T
well, so i totally tanked as usual and made spewy plays at the start of today, and then at the very bottom of the graph there is when i took a bit of a breather and when i came back i only played 4 tables down from my usual 9-12, inspired by fee's thing =O
and it was probably just dumb luck that i am catching cards and has nothing to do with trying to 4 table and analyse opponents and all that yada yada,
but... i do feel like i made a few good bets to define my hand strength where i said to myself "if this guy comes over the bet im done with the hand" and i was taking down pots where i felt my opponents had pfr'ed and missed with overs (usually followed by a c/f) that i would have definitely checked down had i been playing more tables and thinking less
anyway, heres the graph, more on this later.. i guess i'll find out pretty quickly if its just a heater im on
on a side note, i did just lay down kings after UTG pop 0.75, 1 limper inbetween, i 3bet to 4.50 on button, UTG 4bet 37.25allin i fold :O it was maybe bad. but i feel okay
Trying to take more pots down without showdown, which i think should be std, but my last graph dictated otherwise. Here's my graph for my past 5k hands, there's an improvement, but i can't really interpret exactly what it means.
