The only use of this site is:

1. Make contacts who are very good who might actually discuss poker with you on MSN or some other medium.
2. Find news about stuff going on in the poker community. So for instance if you never play FTP you probably wouldn't hear about The Black Card or whatever if you weren't paying attention by checking LP once and a while.
3. Get people to mass e-mail one of the Poker sites to make a big change like auto-topoff .

4. Swear at people

LP is my homepage. 90% of my time here is spent on a) the rofl thread or b) blogs. It may have declined a bit since years before, but its still better than pretty much anything else out there.

On a side note, we're definitely seeing less and less new players. Everyone on this site seems to be an older player. I find it nice to see a large collection of the same posters, and not so many newer guys. Hell, the newest person to post in this blog made their account in 2008...

as an old user myself i think the quality of the site got worse in the past year or two years yes, but we expect it to get better in the near future

I agree with Raidern. Only the blogs and the ROFL/boob thread is keeping LP afloat =

thats not to say people aren't trying, it just seems like the poker hype has died off significantly so the traffic here has dropped as well.

community isn't as tight as it was because we start caring less about the internet as we get older (except maynard maybe)

people start families or travel a lot or made a bunch of money and went back to school and who says forum says drama, not everyone wants to be involved in it on a regular basis.

thats my wild guess at least, of course it has changed a lot.

i just wish we had more nice discussions in the general forum

The site isn't turning to shit imo, it's just not growing. The shitty posters and threads are usually dealt with, so there isn't much to call shitty.

The site is losing some active users because LP isn't doing much to grow, just to keep what it currently has, at least from my point of view.

1. Recruitment of at least 2 more people to work on front page news is the first step in helping things be up to date and keep the front page fresh. Right now it's just Raidern and Pindarots posting news, and usually it's things that were already posted in the Main Poker forum, like live thread type stuff.

2. There's not really any type of community related events to get people interested to come here, unless it revolves around a random new poker site that is offering a $100 - $300 rake race, which not many people participate in, but is appreciated for the effort involved when setting that up.

3. Setup a new or up to date list of staff, and have them suggest ideas in the private forum (if it exists here), and slowly work this site into something interesting for more than 200 active users. Without anyone giving ideas, nothing will get done, and more and more people will become less active, and some will even leave. I myself wont leave, but have been less active lately, focusing on just the Blogs/Main/General sections.

It's not really hard to think of some ideas that were already done at TL.net long ago, and flip them into poker ideas, and apply it here.

I must say, i wish there was a banned user thread here , like on TL. That thread gives me giggles now and again. I guess there isnt enough bans to warrant it. Maybe a good thing.

Youre kinda newcomer thats why you dont get that site just changing exactly to fit regular lpers needs. Since most of population here turned any good at poker, all we need is more funny epic threads. Because after 7 years of poker it is not a question when to fold or raise.
