I made a (fishy) check raise with combo draw against a guy I had been getting a lot of hands against. We never got to showdown cuz he's been folding everytime. So not much history.

What's my plan here? (He has a pot sized bet left after calling my raise)

A. Push any river hoping he folds top pair
B. Push any heart + when i make my hand.
C. Give up, hoping he had a FD and checks it behind (only push when i improve)

Edit: now that i think about it plan B kinda sucks its almost impossible for me to have hearts

AhXh would be possible, I like option A, even though it's not always best vs certain players

I don't particularly like check-calling the flop tho, I mean it's ok, but I prefer a lead or a checkraise more often than not. I think your line looks a little like one that fish would take with a set and if he doesn't view you as one (say, this was me you were playing against), I'd be inclined to put you on a semi-bluff based on the strength that you're representing while you probably wouldn't be doing it similarly with a really good made hand.

That being said, if he has gotten the impression that you've been pushing him around, he might've just made his mind to call you down with top pair. I think giving up is reasonable, but also given that you played a draw this way, you should probably be bluffing all the rivers that a draw (any draw) hits. You could even make it an overbet bluff, should your usual range beat his perceived range on the river. Then again, I don't think there's anything wrong with an occasionally showing down hand. You might even be good against hearts here.

I think that cuz I'm a fish, I'd probably bluff a wide range of rivers, but I'd want to have pretty accurate history with the villain. If you bet a non-heart river, it looks more like A7 type of hand that just flat the minr pf and hit two pair, so you can probably bluff those too and not just your draws.

The two main ways to profit is to
1) Exploit your opponent based on what you feel about his range and what he'll do with it
2) Have a balanced strategy (good v-bet/bluff ratio in this case)

Bluffing the river in a vacuum biases more towards #2, while you might have more information to make a decision based on #1.

He's gonna level himself into calling with any ace because your line makes zero sense. C.

correct me if im wrong but your goal here is to win the pot
and you dont win it by checking a blank on the river
only option i see as played is to bet no mather what the river is

That's why the turn raise is terribad.

I also don't like check/calling flops with good draws. I'd rather lead flop or checkraise. In position I like a flatcall way more. It's just gonna look so stupid when you hit river and he checks behind or you donk out on the river and he snapfolds his AQ or whatever.

Yea.. I really put myself in a difficult spot for no reason at all. The river came Kh and I did shove. I got A7 there or air. I don't even think i'd play 56h like that. I think a good player would see me thru, but fortunatly, the guy either had a missed draw or he folded the Ace.

It played the hand terribly but it worked.

Thx for advice guys.

u have showdown value and a huge redraw if you're beat and if you're beat right now he's not folding why are you inflating the pot giyom

he is never dolding especially on a brick he will put you exacty in the kind of hand you have when the 2nd flush draw falls on the turn, he is calling with Ax, maybe consider bluffing in a very scary river like 5h? but even then this is bad
