how does it cost him $1m if he buys out for $100k? |
EV (Not Eating Meat) = $1,000,000
EV (Eating meet) = -100,000
If he buys out for 100k it costs him $1.1 Million to eat meat. |

Doesnt matter that the money is not in his bank account, or Durrr's, he will simply have $1.1 Million Less.
If the bet was that If Ivey eats meat he has to pay Durrr 1.1 Million from his own money and not get anything if he doesn't eat meat, it would make no difference and it would still cost Ivey $1.1 Million to eat meat. |

Right, its basically a bidding vs time war between Ivey and Durrrr.
It probably wasnt clear what i meant in my original post, I thought people were under the impression that it was 1:1 type bet where if ivey ate any meat he would have to pay Durrrr $1m. |

This.
There is no way he would lie. I would put my life up for that. Ivey is a man, not a weasel.

also Ivey scamming for 1M is like the average person scamming for 10 bucks |

it's not much faith and he isn't risking his life or anything. it's just money, and it isn't like either of them will be saving up or spending more because of that bet. |

I wonder what the buyout graph for that bet would look like over a year? It increases for a bit as Ivey's need for meat goes up at the start, but I imagine by october Durrr would be happy to get that 50k instead of losing a million at the end of the year. |

if ivey can buy out at any time for 100k seems like a ultra +EV bet |

theyve succeeded in getting everyone talking about them, and pretty much locked up some (more) media attention for the next 12 months.
outcome of the bet seems irrelevant. |

You didn't quite finish the logic. The graph doesn't go to zero logarithmically but probably crosses the x-axis at around 6 or 7 months, so that is all Ivey actually has to last before he's in buyout profit. By December Ivey can cook up a huge steak and make durrrr pay him 800k to buy out and then eat it in front of him. |

Haha good point! When I first heard the bet I though it was hugely -EV for Durrr, but I thought it might be because 1M is a lot of money to me. But the 'graph' already breaking even quite early means the bet isn't very good at all. By the time Ivey really gets tired of eggs and rice he's nearly in the money. I know it would be peanuts for me, especially when you have the money to order any delicious (although veggie) food. |

But it comes with the added bonus of several more months of meat eating that he wouldn't have gotten if he didn't eat the steak |
