Largely agree, but SoulKey is the #1 ranked player on sponbbang right now. If you filter for games played in 2021 SoulKey has a winning record against every Terran except against FlaSh and Light, the latter of which he is 27W 28L against. He is also winning against every Protoss except for Bisu and Free, the latter he is 2W 2L against. FlaSh and Bisu aren't playing anymore so going by sponbbang winrates SoulKey should be considered one of the favourites. Naturally some people perform better or worse offline than they do online, but sponbbang stats are the best measure we have since games played in ASL are either many seasons old or laughable sample sizes. SoulKey's main issue is ZvZ where he's pretty much getting crushed by Larva and Queen and to a lesser extent Soma. He's also losing in small sample sizes against EffOrt (4W 5L) and Action (1W 2L).
Infact, let's be complete and look at his stats in 2021 against every other player remaining in ASL ro16:
Mini: 31W 18L (63.3%)
815: No games played
Soma: 12W 18L (40%)
JyJ: 15W 6L (71.4%)
hero: 20W 10L (66.7%)
nOOB: 1W 0L (100%)
free: 2W 2L (50%)
sOrry: 29W 14L (67.4%)
ZerO: 15W 27L (35.7%)
Stork: 20W 4L (83.3%)
Light: 27W 28L (49.1%)
Snow: 26W 22L (54.2%)
Rush: 44W 29L (60.3%)
BarrackS: 2W 0L (100%)
beast: No games played
Total: 244W 178L (57.8%)
If he can avoid Soma and Queen he's in good shape. On this evidence Light is a coinflip matchup, and I think he's a favourite against anyone else. SnOw looks the next toughest. Obviously sample size against some players is tiny or non-existent, but I'd expect SoulKey to be a solid favourite against 815, nOOB, free, BarrackS or beast in any case.
His group in ro16 looks pretty kind. He has Rush, who he has a 60.3% winrate against on sponbbang this year and 2 "lesser" players in BarrackS and beast. This should be a fairly comfortable path to the ro8 where in bo5 format the chances of him having a surprise defeat decline. I really think SoulKey has a good shot, plus we are in a bit of a Zerg meta atm.
As for Mini, although I have heard from my active friends that he is super strong right now, he does have a pretty miserable sponbbang record in 2021 against hero (45W 67L), Soulkey (18W 31L) and Light (23W 50L). Seems he's doing well enough against the other remaining players and seems especially strong in PvP where he is crushing SnOw (25W 12L) and Best (24W 10L), although is losing against Stork (8W 12L).

SnOw has been very solid for a long time and pretty much always a top 3 Protoss for the last few years. He is currently #2 ranked Protoss and #4 player overall on Sponbbang. Earlier in the day his rating was high enough to place him #2 overall and #1 Protoss, just behind SoulKey. SnOw's biggest strength is undoubtedly his PvT, but I don't really give him a very high chance of winning this ASL as there are a lot of Zerg and Protoss players who hold solid winning records against SnOw this year online. SnOw actually has a positive winrate against every Terran in the world this year, with the hardest Terran opponent for him being Light where SnOw holds a 26W 22L record. However, against other players remaining in the tournament he is losing against Stork, Mini, Soma, Queen, SoulKey and hero. All in all SnOw probably needs some clutch builds or a lucky runout of opponents to get far. I would not be surprised at all if he did not make it out of RO16 Group C which is a stacked group.
Both FlaSh and Bisu were involved in a scandal which resulted in the backlash of a lot of fans and is ultimately why Bisu stopped playing, perhaps also FlaSh too. There's a big thread on tl.net about it here: https://tl.net/forum/brood-war/574711-flashs-crypto-scandal I haven't read it in detail myself or know the full conclusion, so I dunno if/when either FlaSh or Bisu will be returning to play again.
SoulKey has been a bit underrated for a while now, because other Zergs such as Queen and Larva have taken more of the limelight with their offline tournament wins. If you look at 2020 sponbbang games, SoulKey had the best ZvT in the world and 2nd best ZvP, just behind Queen. He has been super strong for a while, he's just not had as much fortune in tournaments or has been knocked out against other Zergs such as he was in ASL 10 where Larva beat him 3:1 in the knockout stages. SoulKey just really struggles in that matchup. That being said Queen is slumping a bit now, so it could be that SoulKey is just straight up the best ZvT AND ZvP player right now.

i am very surprised about his stats against protoss.
Especially against 2 of the best PvsZer of the moment, Mini (of course), and Stork (his pvsz has improved tremendously as of late).

For anyone interested I created a spreadsheet compiling the win rates of each remaining player in RO8 against every other remaining player taken from sponbbang, filtered only for 2021 games, as well as a head to head tab for the remaining 4 matchups with their head to head stats. I also created a little probability table showing the chance player A wins the best of 5 given the odds of player A and player B winning a single game based on the sponbbang win rate.
I just came to share the new ASL eng upload... about to watch with some dinner and hyped

Both RO4 games are finished now with the 2nd semi final finishing about 10 minutes ago.
i find them less enjoyable to watch... a caster with a nasal lisp is annoying.

I'm sure you're not alone, but it's good to have options. Nyoken and Scan have more strategical knowledge and insight than does Artosis and especially Tasteless. Also I'm sure there's a lot of people who are getting a bit bored of Tasteosis's old jokes and would prefer Nyoken/Scan's commentary. Myself being one of those.
The other good thing is that Nyoken and Scan cast the ASL games live if you catch them on the ASL English AfreecaTV channel and the VODs are available pretty much right after the games are complete. Artosis and Tasteless's releases seem to take an age. I've even watched most of this season with Korean commentators personally, because I wanted to watch it live and didn't realise there was Nyoken and Scan commentary available live also.

Main problem with Scan isn't his nasal voice or lisp it's his tendency to keep talking and try to link superfluous consecutive sentences; especially with the word "but" often instead of the more appropriate "and".

I like scan, I honestly ignore any small issues with his English because it's very impressive to have a Korean pro speak as good English as he does and stream / help people but I can see what you guys mean.

Almost broke Mini in that last game as well but he took a fight from the low ground and engaged a little too early before his upgrade kicked in, otherwise he had it. Mini screwed up a bunch of times and you could see him being unsatisfied with his play on camera. He definitely didn't play as well and his win can be attributed to the fact that Carrier/ground Protoss is just a lot easier to do than defending it.

I feel that after the initial lead Mini kinda donated the finals to Rush as best he could, but in the last game Rush didn't seem to macro enough out to complete the push. I'm also wondering why banking a small fleet of wraiths is never used vs carriers. Hold position behind your main army to kill interceptors with strong air to air, pressure him to keep obs / backup with his carriers at all times, occasionally dive on Obs and kill multiple carriers... seems good to me if he can justify 2 base carrier
