Taken 2, what the hell? This is kinda one of those "dont fuck with a masterpiece" things. Will have to watch the trailer to judge, but uhg....

The Grey wasn't terrible, I think everyone just expected something totally different. It's like watching Funny People and expecting a funny movie. Both movies give you a little bit of what you expected at the end though. Wolves getting fucked up and a bunch of punch lines

I'm pretty sure it was the same reason for the first one too. 25 mil budget movies are rarely done for "art purposes".

Taken 1 was pretty bad ass (clearly we are not watching this movie for a deep and engaging storyline, it`s on the same level as Expendables) - Huge success at the box office. This one looks like it`s very similar, which I`m pretty excited for!

This movie has every kind of possibility to immediately be a dogshit movie unless they find a way to narrate this kind of 'revenge' script. The people who saw Taken paid much less attention to the bad guys and more towards Liam Neeson's bad ass killing spree. To just suddenly give importance to all the bad guys Liam killed just can't work IMO. Plus they brought in the Dos Equi's guy so this will probably just suck huge mammoth ass cheeks

edit: I loved the original Taken movie, and it's funny because I watched it last night and saw this thread today

taken was not great, but liam neeson is a great performer, that made it a good movie.

I really liked taken but it seemed like the type of story line movie where it ends well and cuts off. Making taken 2 seems like it just might repeat itself when it was unnecessary. I'll probably end of seeing it anyway cause I like Liam Neeson.

I've just watched Taken , I was curious.
I can understand people need to switch off the brain sometimes but I've lost1h30 of my life.

When I saw the beginning of the trailer I had the smallest hope that it would be a super smart a sophisticated movie following the perspective of the villains in the first movie as they sought out revenge and would question the ethics of liam neeson's actions in the first movie.

But no it's probably gonna be action trash

he may be on vacation but I always assumed that after his success fighting bad guys in the first one he just like started working for the CIA again. Maybe he was stationed in Istanbul, just my 2 cents

I thought Liam Neeson was at his best in Batman Begins. He definitely tied it with Taken

I didnt see man on fire, but I mostly like Bruce Willis, Stallone, Schwarzenegger etc action flicks. The biggest problem with Taken is that its a dumb B movie that tries to be a real serious thriller sort of film. They could have made a silly B movie or tried harder and made a better film, instead they made a shitty one and tried to pass it off as art. I just dont get how there are so many people who love this movie -.-

: D Yeah, Liam Neeson is just an awesome actor, The Grey was a mediocre plot, but he made it sick and so was Taken. Am I excited? Sure, an action packed well acted thriller, not like I've invested a lot of time into the movie, so I'm not going to be to dissapointed that it has a sequel, if a third comes out? Shoot me.

I like Taken also. It's a nice action movie that doesn't go all cheesy on you, kind of like the Bourne series. Expendables is a fun action movie that's cheesy on purpose for that huehueheu action enjoyment. People need to stop taking certain movies so freaking seriously, if most movies were realistic as real life why would we go out and watch them in the first place?

I loved taken since I watched it the moment it came out and expected nothing at all. People who watched it because of the buzz it created being a sleeper hit will be disappointed though.

I agree with this. For the ones who didn't watch it I would advise to watch the phone scene and that's all because next it is just a disappointment.
