PokerStars, by mistake, released an official post on their Russian site that informs players about upcoming changes to the VIP system on the poker room. The post have been already taken down, but players managed to copy it and Google managed to index it(links at the end of this article) in its cache as well. Let's get straight to the point: the changes are drastic (eg. complete removal of SuperNova Elite), and the highest raking players are going to earn even 40-60% less from VIP club.

"We have always believed that poker - a game that is played for fun and competition. However, in the past few years, VIP-Club awards have become so seductive that we unintentionally started to influence why and how people play." - starts the information from PokerStars.

First of all PokerStars introduced VIP Steps instead of regular VIP points (the beta of this program is already live in UK) which already gives a significant money to the operator.
However, the new changes are drastic:
– Complete removal of SuperNova Elite starting from January 2017r
– No VPP points at all in No Limit & Pot Limit games with blinds 5$-10$ and higher
– No VPP points at all in Mix 8 games with blinds 10$-20$ and higher
– No VPP points at all in Fixed Limit with blinds 10$-15$ and higher
– Earning 200,000 VPP points give a maximum rakeback of 30%
– Platinum Star rewards going down by approx 5%
– Bronze Star and Silver Star won't feel much difference (between points being harder to earn because of VIP steps being introduced)
– Chrome Star prizes go up around 10%
– SuperNova players will see reduced rakeback from 0% all the way to 27%
– complete removal of FPP – instead of those PokerStars will introduce „Star Coins” worth 0.01$ each (all the FPPs are going to be exchange at 1.2:1 ratio)

Despite the original post being taken down, you can view the google cache of Russian version here and translated English version under this link!!

What do you think about the changes?

So nobody gets any advantage compared to the previous system except the poker room

amaya is about about profit, they dont care about the regs, regs are their enemies as they cashout
in the perfect world for the company, players deposit and keep playing until the money is diluted in rake and nobody cashes out

so in the near future, online poker is going to become a big lottery where its impossible to be a winner in longterm

Dont listen to anything I say

I'm not sure this is such a good idea long term. Part of why poker worked so well is because of the stories of people winning a lot of money at it. I myself convinced a few people to play it, who themselves convinced some people to play it, etc. I think winners is very healthy for poker.

companies need to show increasing profits/dividends quarter by quarter each year so no excuses they need to show more profit in a market thats close to being on its last legs in comparison to what it once was. It's just going to get worse.

poker is soooo much easier when you flop sets

Now time for HU regs to post:

HAHA.
ALL YOU GRINDERS SUFFER, YOU DESTROY THE GAME. YOU PLAY ROBOT STYLE, DONT TALK TO RECS, MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE PLAYING WITH BOTS, NOT GIVING THEM FUN, BERATING THEM.

U DESERVE TO HAVE YOUR MONEY TAKEN, YOU JUST CLICK BUTTONS FAST SO THAT YOU MAKE MORE RAKE.

Hope that helps for your perspective.

Its live on english site:
https://www.pokerstars.com/en/blog/co...ed-pokerstars-experience-158887.shtml

• In recognition of the players who have already-earned SupernovaElite status or will by the end of the year, the benefits cap for players who earn Supernova Elite in 2015 will be 45% in 2016.
- lol, people who raked 170k in 2015 are getting screwed already.

Our intention is to expand these restrictions through major changes within our own software that we will communicate in more detail through 2016.

Expect the ends of huds in 2016?

the moment this happens is the moment pokerstars hangs itself as the picture above states :D
first couple of months will suck balls for people that don't play on PS as there are almost no russians on other sites and russians are probably the best regs atm

"Chrome Star prizes go up around 10%" seems pretty fair to me.

I wonder if we remember (remember) that last year at this time we protested with a mass sit out on the 5th of November.

Total fucking bullshit.

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN
