sup plz find the indefinite integral of

S x^2 e^(x^3)-1) dx

pretty sure I keep fucking up when I get the answer

[2xe^((x^3)-1)] * [1+(3x^3)/2] + C

i don't think that notation makes sense, here:

integral x^2 exp(x^3-1) dx = exp(x^3-1)/3+constant

To get this answer you can do a u substitution with u = x^3-1

thanks

lol I'm left handed, drew that w my right hand + a mouse

ok so what is the solution when its on the interval b = 3, a = 0
is it

(exp^-8) / 3

wolframalpha.com is a good site for doing anything like this

(exp^26)/3 - (exp^-1)/3

According to TI-89 calculator you have the answer as

e^(x^3-1)/3 + C

I don't remember how to do the integration by hand, but I do know that taking the derivative of this answer here will give you the original problem like it should.

Not sure what your aspirations in the math field are but if your working with heavy calculus and high level math investing in a TI-89 calculator is not a bad idea, since it can perform integrals and derivatives with variables.

If this is just one math class that you have to take and you aren't really pursuing it then don't bother getting the calculator, as it's quite expensive for the practical user.

I am going to take a stab at calc 2 in the spring or summer, haven't decided yet, will probably end up having to buy a fancy calculator

julep already posted it

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - KapolLast edit: 11/12/2011 00:40

calculators can do this now!!!??? what

would have been nice for calc 4

can you do triple variable stuff?

i went to the site and it says 3d graphing and its only $150. thats what calculators have always cost might have to pick one up

The TI-89 basically has a variable manipulator on it. Say you have some nasty ass equation, for instance a double integral with respect to x and y and you have three constant variables as well. Say x^2 * y^2 * c * z * k^3. You can plug this into the TI-89, integrate it with respect to x, then take that EXACT solution and integrate it to respect to y. The result is the EXACT variable equation taking the double integral of this with respect to x and y.

Not only is it great for integrals and derivatives, but it can also solve equations, factor them, expand them, can perform limits, sums, products, taylor series approximations, and much much more. The benefit is that all your answers come out in exact fraction form and show the variables as well so you can see the exact result.

I got the calculator like 4-5 years ago cause I knew I'd be pursuing some sort of high math degree eventually (currently working to become an actuary). It honestly does so much shit for you and makes life way easier when working with high level probability and calculus. It's actually banned on a lot of math oriented exams just because the things it can do make it too easy to take some of the tests. But like I said earlier this calculator is only really useful if your going to pursue some sort of math intensive field.

you could do this 2 ways.
integration by parts which blows, or just realize that this uses the chain rule,

i.e. deriv of e^(stuff) = (stuff)' * e^(stuff)

then to evaluate it on the range (0,3) just do F(3) - F(0), and it looks like hellokittery is right

and imo, the ti-89 is more for science related fields. i got my degree in math and can't think of any classes that i needed that calc, or was allowed to use it. and when you get to higher level things math wise, you end up using software like mathlab or mathematica anyway.

Its time to stop thinking like a bitch and think smart like a poker player - ketLast edit: 11/12/2011 23:40

As bigbobm said. And I had a TI83 and almost did not know how to use it. It's only useful for calculation which is by far the least interesting part in mathematics imo.

sorry for shitty english.

Calcs are always in high demand year after year so even if you buy one off ebay you can easily sell it on ebay after you finish class for about the same price.
