As some of you may know i went busto from this blog. Ive even typed up my poker summary as a poem.
After going busto i quit poker. And since i have finished my university degree in Electrical Engineering and had no job and no income I went on the dole while looking for a job.
Now I have finally found the job and have been working for 2 weeks! At NOVORAIL alliance. Which in Australia is 4 companies working together to re-energize Sydney's railway network. Seems like a really sweet job so far. The only things ive been doing however is reading up theory and jsut taking orders from my boss here and there. But hopefully I will start doing some real stuff soon.
The job includes making substations and overhead lines for the trains. So it involves working with 66kV AC overhead lines and 1.5kV rail wires. So its really dangerous and the company is very strict on safety.
I had to do a medical test where they check you for drugs and all that sort of stuff. So naturally i was shitting my pants cos ive smoked some MJ like 3 weeks before the test. This is why I havnt posted this blog earlier. Cos i wanted to make sure they are not gonna find something and fire me. So now that my medical has come back and ive passed I cant really smoke anymore(they do random checks now and then) and I dont really want to either.
So yeah jsut wanted to share it.
Also as you might have also noticed ive been only posting girls in my blog and funny stuff in the rofl thread and other random posts here and there cos im still part of the community eventhough i dont play poker.
Also a question:
Should I live 1hr away form my job with my parents and dont pay rent. And save up for a nice car or should I rent some place in the city, close to work so that I dont have to get a car?
TLDR: I quit poker and got electrical engineering job that pays well.
cheers all. Pix in next blog

i d say to rent appartment allready and skip car for now.
your life will get more involved to ur job and city lifestyle , you will meet new ppl , make new friends etc etc.
freerolling with ur parents will make you spend more and will make it harder to move on ur own appartment in the future

nice, EE power. So when you say working on the line, they actually put you out there assembling with your own two hands? Do you actually need an electrical eng degree to get a job like this? I have a degree in physics, wondering if I could get into a job like this. |

Do whatever is ever most +EV money wise, save and buy a place close to your job.
GL in your new role, enjoy the juice these contractors squeeze out of the NSW govt.

nah, we dont really do anything physical. Of course maybe something here and there and maybe help out the laborers once in a while. But we are actually a connection between the guys who design and guys who build. So that the designers don't design something that cannot be physically built.
Yeah and you have to have electrical eng degree. My title there is graduate electrical engineer.
And threre is alot of money being put into this so more trains on time surely going to happen. But the projects going to go for about next 10 years |
