that day has arrived more than a few times in my life, and unfortuantely has arrived once again in 2009.
it's funny that its coinciding with my SNE chase, but i have undoubtedly been running massively below expectation for the first two months of this year. i guess it all started when i lost a 200bb pot near the bubble of the PCA main event to a 6 outer. i've been playing PLO which is admittedly a new-ish game to me, but i just did some database leak plugging and it's undeniable that i'm running hugely below expectation. if you just look through the hands i've posted on LP, they're most of my all-in pots that don't include me having the nuts vs some rando donk's TPTK etc.
i've lost almost 80% of my 80/20's over 100k hands, that's pretty stifling. i'm not quite losing but more so breaking even, a result of my volume (good thing i'm not playing 20k hands a month or i'd probably quit over a stretch like this!). today i ended a session early (first time all year) only down 2 bi, but if you plug in my equity i shoulda been up about 10 skalansky buyins, pretty massive. it was the first time i've felt tilt as a result of this stretch. you can see the graphs i've posted in this blog, some crazy stuff.
it's tough when you're running bad because there's a sense of "well, what can i do?"
i've just worked on plugging small leaks, and it's probably been a positive in that sense, but i have the kind of expenses + tax time that I really can't just be breaking even all year long. i'm hoping i'll hop out of the funk. as it is this month, i'm break even or slightly down, mostly thanks to 5/10 shots vs. moneymaker and some gross beats in a soft 5/10 NL game. so i guess i'll have to take some time off 5/10. i might just go back to hold em, where suckouts don't necessarily feel as brutal. i was banking 50-100 buyins per month pretty regularly last year, so this is definitely becoming trying, but i shouldn't have been so accustomed to running good either.
i'm sort of rambling on some self-therapy here but i think you guys get the point.

Finally in the green for the month. Woot. Still have very little desire to play so I figured posting a blog might get me in the mood. Kinda working so far.
I recently played a 400 hand session at NL400 and I am very proud of my game. I dont think I have played more solid than this. I didnt loose any pot bigger then 100$ or win any pot bigger then 150 - but I still won around 2BI. I got thin value from a lot of situations and I felt I owned the players around the table.

and now some NL50 with 84BI
That may sound stupid to some
but on the other hand its totally stress free and i refound the fun in poker !

Woke up singing the Zelda theme song and so I went straight downstairs and turned on the Wii. I started Ocarina of Time the other day but I was jones'n for some pure, un-diluted, classic Zelda. I'd been planning to save it for last but shit, I woke up with the theme song in my head. I had no choice.
It was fun re-exploring the map and finding old secrets. I managed to get about 8 hearts before beating the third dungeon. So far I'm cruising through the game and could probably beat it tonight if I put in a few more hours, but I wanna save it for later. It's a million times easier than I remember, but I guess knowing where a lot of the bomb spots and burnable trees are helps things along.
But I AM UP on the money making game old man. He nearly had me one session but I was able to recover. I tend to leave his place up by 20-50 rupees.
Good day poker wise too. Glad I got myself to play. Made 8.5 buyins over about 2.8k hands. Running good! That also put me in the green for the month! I've still got my big EV gap but it's starting to close slowly. But even my EV is skyrocketing up so it's hard to bring the lines together. I'm happy to be up for the month and at a peak BR level ever since my first failed NL200 shot a year ago. I'm sitting on 5.5k now and hope to get up to 6k before doing another NL200 shot. Could be this week! Ya never know!

Was so close to NL100 I could fucking taste it. This whole day was absolute garbage. From the moment I woke up I was disappointed with what I saw in the sky. Clouds. Clouds on my motherfucking day off.
Played about 5k hands today. First 3k was megarape of me (lost $300) and this second session has been break even for 2k hands.
Going to the gym tomorrow morning. Then going to work. Coming home from work. Having intense masturbation session. Playing poker. If I run bad: wash, rinse, repeat.
Grinded out some ups and downs throughout my session today. At times I was too passive, at times I was a donkey, and at other times I played pretty well. All in all, a +4.5bi day which I sincerely do think could have been better had I played my best throughout the day.

i'm wondering what kind of buyin system i should use (i used ~20 for everything so far, but think i should maybe be more careful about nl200).
bankroll equals roughly ~$5000 right now.
should i wait for 30buyins? 35? any advice?
as for nl200, whats the main difference between 100 and 200nl? i'd say from nl50 to nl100 is increased aggression on draws, and squeezing/light 3bets in position. i'm curious what you nl200 regs think the biggest difference is so i can prepare myself.

Just reached 5 million play chips. I've been looking into selling them and it seems like the most I can get right now is around $6 per million. Im gonna try to get up to 5.6 million so I can sell 5 and have enough to recover if i lose all the money. I should be playing nl2 by this time tommorow.
So last night I took my family out to dinner to a Thai restaurant. One of the dishes was some rather thick noodles. Just now I ate the leftovers and found a fucking rubber band in my food. It looked exactly identical in shape and color to a noodle except I chewed it for at least 10 seconds before I realized something was wrong.
Anyways my hot 600nl streak ended, went down about 7bi yesterday and broke even today. I haven't been using PT because I can't access my old hard drive yet.
So since my epic fail at the NL200 shot (rofl -5bi variance'd over 1k hands), and coupled with a bit of running bad at NL100, my confidence is totally shot.
I was talking with some people on aim/msn and figured the best idea would be to temporarily move down to something like NL50, stomp on some people, and then come back up.
I'm going to go one step further though; I'm going to withdraw a little over 1k from my Stars bankroll and deposit it on two sites to take advantage of the soft games and bonuses. Before I do that, I'm also going to ask my brother for a short loan of 1k to take advantage of the Stars reload bonus.
I'll have a solid working roll for NL100 on stars, but I'm going to grind out some NL50 and NL100 at the other sites as well. Assuming all goes well and I clear the bonuses, I should have enough money to take another shot at NL200.
I might be a bit scared, but I will crush it like this:

I just couldnt get any action on my strong hands (except from stronger ones obv), in 10k hands had maybe 15 big pots (160< bbs) and won maybe 5, too nitty for my taste...
it's 5am now, I'm so tilted and I have to study for exam in few hours....FML
