And somehow won 5 BI while running below EV. haha. Plus lost a few AK vs KK coolers and a lot of QQ/JJ vs 2 random cards against short stackers who got it AIPF very light. I felt like I was down about 5 BI and then recovered to even. Surprising to see a 5 bi profit.
Lately I'd been doing a lot of 12+ tabling and it wasn't working out very well. Especially after I've learned so much from HU and gotten much better at hand reading, it felt like a waste of time. So I forced myself to cut down to 8 which has been very helpful. I end up with 10-12 when I get a rush of waitlists coming in but I try to thin it down to 6-8 as soon as I see which tables are bad. It has gone quite well and I've been able to make a lot of good plays and reads.
Also heard back from PS about the concierge for my Wii and they're sending me monies. Woot! Final cost is 32,922 FPPs to get:
1 Wii
1 extra remote
1 extra nunchuck
1 nyko charging station
1 COD4 WAW
AND
1 massage =)
I was under $500 so I had to throw in another receipt so I figured a massage on FPP's would be nice. Hell yeah concierge service, much better than 30k FPP for just 1 Wii and none of the other stuff I got.
My birthday is coming up (march 1st) so people have been asking what I want. I've made a bit of a list and it's all pretty geared towards upgrading my grinding set up. I have a 2 bedroom apt with my GF and we set 1 bedroom up as an office. I used to grind in there all the time but then 2 things happened: 1) winter came and we have horrible insulation so that room was freezing and 2) I was missing my GF. So I moved my laptop down to the living room where it's warmest and where she sits to watch TV. For the last 4-5 months I've been sitting on the ground in front of the coffee table and playing poker. It's been fun but this is a horrible set up. It's awkward and really bad for my back/neck/wrist. So yesterday we went and put plastic up on the windows of the office and put a heater in there so I can move back up.
This is where the birthday presents come in. My chair isn't very good in there so I'm gonna try to get once of those ergonomic (sp?) chairs that will help my posture for my bday. Also need a good mouse pad for my wrist. Sadly my favorite mouse has started to crap out on me - it randomly stops working but I can't figure otu what's wrong, and it comes back in a few seconds, but that's horrible while playing poker - so i want to go buy the same one again. It's so hard to find a good comfortable mouse and I've bought about 4 since I got this one and I always stop using those really fast cause they suck.
So any suggestions on Mice/Mousepads/Computer chairs would be appreciated!
Ok, enough babbling for now. Gonna watch some Burn Notice (my new fav show) and eat, then get back online so I'm on PS for the billionth hand. God I hope I win it!
Ive been on a crazy breakeven stretch, down 5bi today, im cutting my tables down to 8 and massive notetaking and playing rather than nutpeddling 24 tables, when u run bad 24 tabling can fucking hurt
i honestly think i will make more 8 tabling with notes than 12-24 tabling anyways, so many weak playes to pick on
i guess thers no resaon to mass table until u have stats and notes on everyone at the current limit anyways
so now i'll be 8 tabling, and expecting a much higher winrate since i will be playing more skillbased and less cardbased poker again
anything to end this downswing y.y;;
i've learned a ton through every downswing and i think this is something i learned that i will need to stick with all the way up the limits to be as proitable as possible, since nl100+ will be harder and harder
well, down 5bi right now, time to make it back, or atleast some of it (although I just lost another bi AJ vs A9 allin pf (i raise co and button shoves and i snap cuz hes a lagtard maniac...
First losing session - Please don't tell me the heater is over. Played for 30 minutes - Dropped $130. My KK < QQ all in preflop. KK < AQ all in. MY JJ < AA all in. What the fuck?
It's so weird - a week ago I was playing 6k hands a day and felt like it wasn't enough. Now I can barely get myself to play. Not sure wtf is up. Totally lost my desire. Guess I might have burned out a bit.
Part of it is definitely that I've been wanting to spend time with my GF. When we're just lazing around and I could play poker or just sit around with her, I've wanted to sit around with her. A few weeks ago if we were just sitting around I'd be like "fuck this I'm gonna get something done" and grind grind grind. But the last few days I just wanna keep sitting around, watch TV, chat about random shit, and try to get her to play old school nintendo games with me (she tried super mario bros 3 and let's just say she's not a natural... but it took me forever to get any skill back on it and I still suck).
Maybe it's the wii and all the games I have to play. But the thing is - when I cam back from Xmas with a million new games to play I was still grinding like crazy cause I wanted to. Then I went through about a 2-3 week stretch where I never played any games but only poker, and if I did game it was usually cause I was forcing myself to do something other than poker and I wasn't very into it.
Weird. When I have played I played ok but definitely didn't feel like I was playing great. Also keep having short sessions. Meh, I dunno. I really don't want to force it and put out my B game though.
FH < 4of a KInd
KK < whatever on Q9T board

as previously stated whenever I am playing a MTT I must blog about it, or owe $25 to anyone who sees me in the tournament, so heres the blog, i'm taking today off mostly, but plan to play the 200k for shits n giggles, maybe a luckbox
we'll see how tonight goes, but i don't like to play cash after chasing 30k 1st places, so most likely i'll call it a night win or lose or w/e
Well, NL100 is going quite well. I'm very pleased with my results lately, and feel like I'm moving up in the poker world at a decent pace.
I noticed that it's quite profitable to simply nit it up at nl100, quite often when I'm check-raising on flushdraw boards, people are reshoving on me with tpgk quite often while i'm holding the nuts (sets, 2p, whatever). I think this is due to the increased aggression, people are starting to get paranoid and think people are making moves on them all the time.
At first I felt I was getting 3bet to death, and loosened up calling more preflop raises with marginal PP's, and shipping it in on non a/k/q boards, but this seemed to be a huge leak. Now I'm simply playing tight and solid pre, and not out-thinking myself too much.
Enough of all that nonsense.
I'd like some advice from some nl200 people as to how many buyins I should have before I attempt to take shots at nl200. I'm pretty sure the 20buyin rule doesn't quite apply to limits above nl100, so I'm thinking 25, 30? Maybe more? I've never logged in a serious nl200 session in my life, and as a result have no idea what to expect once I take that leap.
Anyways, I 1-tabled last night/this morning for about an hour and a half, and made a solid 4 buyins running at roughly 45/35. lol, it's true that if you can actually focus on the game dynamics and whats going on that you can rape the competition big time. I can see myself cutting my tables down a bit on nl200 when I first start there.
Anyways, I'm feeling pretty good about my progress so far, so I think it's time to go and mix myself a drink.
As always, a little pleasure for your ears - skip into 30 seconds, this songs a beauty.
as for poker... i have been playing only limit the last 3 months. maybe about 8k USD which is far below expectations since im just chilling/travelling/pokering while waiting for the job market to improve. ive been to bali and bangkok and got engaged too so lots of stuff has been happening in my life. bought my fiance a ds for vday and shes addicted to it like crazy.
anyway poker wise my high rolling friends staked me for 2/4 which im slightly up there while meanwhile i grind .5/1 limit at stars since im supernova + its just alot less stressful and easier then 1/2. Im like 3bb at 50cent/1 but 0.5 bb at 1/2
OH AND DOES ANYONE HERE ACTUALLY PLAY LIMIT?!
Only floofy (omgomg celeb) has msged me on msn (ONCE lol) apart from that no1 talks to me from here about hands and stuff and i feel so alone. cry cry
wow, it's so amazing, it looks like this ex-degen will follow bm rules, good work Ryan!
i though, if he can change his bad habbits, it's my turn now.
i haven't treat poker seriously, had like max 3 months when i played 20k hands, just spent few hours a week playing nl50, where games were really soft, where downswings almost don't exist, cashed out from time to time, saying to myself "ok this is last cash-out, from now i move up when have 25bis for next level" but didn't do it
GOALS:
1) play at least 30k hands each month. no matter what. it's half of feb, so in feb at least 15k
2) watch at least 3 cr vids each week. no matter what.
3) no fucking cash outs!
4) analize each session. EACH SESSION!
5) make notes on my blog
question about analizing: what would you recomand?
a) put some hands into blog
b) making threads
c) ask some players on pm if they would help me, and talk to them about playing on msn
d) any other idea?
actually i'm playing nl100 btw
some hands which i thought about, some are very standard, but i'm not 100% sure what is the best way of playing them:

at this moment i had him like 50/25/1 after 16hands
on flop i made standard cbet, willing to slow down on turn, but ace turn made him holding ace less possible, what should i do on river? bet 30, fold to raise? by betting 20 i was hoping to got called by any 9, maybe 8, and ,maybe sometimes raised by a missed fd, 99 or 88 when he got angry after his monster became weak hand on riv, does my thinking process make sense? (obv i called and he showed at)
ok vs 30/1/1.5 to get value from pocket pairs which i think he isn't folding (at least on flop and turn) or you think i should slow down at some point? my first thought was to check/fold river, but then i was like "oh its so weak" and pushed riv, what do you think?
You know those days where you're running hot in the sense that you're getting tons of overpairs and hitting TPTK vs fish all the time? But then the board runs out like crap and you realize you just lost to the majority of the fish's calling range (e.g. flop 653 two clubs, turn 7, river 6c), so you check to him and he puts out like a halfpot bet which you call and muck to an obvious rivered flush?
Or when you call down a fish on a paired board because you know he's full of it, only for an ace to hit the river where he suddenly checks to you? Then you rofl check behind and obv get owned by AK.
Or those sessions where your cbets fail about 70% of the time?
When it happens for weeks, and you haven't been on a heater for ages, it really kills your confidence and makes you wonder how much of an edge you really have.
