Of course! by EXCELED, February 17

Of course I lose proline again ffs lol. Im like 1-35 lifetime lol. Good thing I dont bet rediculous amounts though.

I woke up to see that Kopitar shattered my dreams by getting 4 points last night! Kolvachuck only got 3. GG ticket.

Ive got class today until around 2:00 so Im going to be putting in a monster session today. I have no need for any withdrawls over the next two weeks so I am for sure going to be moving up levels very very soon.

I had the ambition of playing 10k hands over the weekend. Never happened... not even close lol. I got in around 3k hands and made 3 buy ins. Not bad. Anyways Im going to do some serious hours this week for sure.

Gotta go to class ugh. ttyl

Live Poker Woes by Chewits, February 17

Went down last night to the live tourney again , and got completely steam rolled. Depressing. Busted out in 40 something outa 50 something. Sucks.

Yeah, i felt i just got owned so hard. Thing is, i just got so much trash hands. To my left, I had this guy, who right from the get go was playing super aggressive, raising every pot. Annoying for me, because it kinda fucked my laggy play style, of coming into pots with marginal hands and winning on flop, because this guy would always call or reraise. It was pissing me off a bit early on, and I lost some chips. Should I just tighten up and wait for a decent hand? Well thats what I tried, but there were no decent hands coming. Just trash after trash. Any times I did try to get into a hand, I seemed to get no respect. Made a 3bb with QK raise from mid position, and got 4 callers fs. Then every flop I was coming into I was completely missing it. I tried some stabs at it, but there was always someone coming over the top. FML

Anyway, so I really need to work on my tournament play. I am so used to playing 6man cash tables. I need to work on playing fullring for this tourney. Perhaps do some more 2 table sit+gos.

On a positive note, i picked up a $125 bonus for the milestone hands. But I am sucking pretty hard on the cash tables atm. Bankroll from mid Janurary;

Maybe I need to loosen up even more. Hmmm

Oh and I discovered a sick workaround for PokerCoPilot so you dont need to buy it...

what movie is this [x2] by rockman255, February 17

i just have these brief images in my head of movies or tv shows

#1) umm, its like a suspense/horror film or tv show or something, i think it is going between dreams and reality, in the dreams theres a scene where someones intenstines are being spun onto one of those things you turn a chicken on, and theres probably also scenes in this movie that look like a psychology observation room where 1 or more people are lied out in beds being watched, and also i think in the same film theres another scene where someone has to be saved from a room thats filling up with water, or sand, or something.

am i mixing up shows?

#2) im just thinking, maybe its just an old tv series or something, but i remember some scifi / gothish show on tv that i probably saw in the late 90s where people were trying to kill themselves but then come back to life and then ask eachother what they saw, does this ring a bell?

any help is appreciated thanks guys :o

Brief graph update by Night2o1, February 17

I am still having trouble grinding for long periods. Today, I had a headache all day. I grinded 3-4 hours.

I'm really like wtf, because never in my life have I ever gotten headaches like I have for the past month and a half :/ I'm afraid I hurt my neck permanently or something.

Anyway today/the last 8 hours was a great success!

A great fail school-wise though. I don't know what I'm going to do atm, feeling so much like just saying "fuck it" and ..yeah. Ugh.

TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN by RICHI8, February 17

Okay just got done with my session. Played about 2.5k hands. Why quit now? Well I just had a 3 buy-in heater where my hands ACTUALLY held up. If i don't quit now I'm sure I'll give it all back on 2 outters and the like. Here's the graph:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/149db25d06dde11d9b7c0b316a890955.jpg

In other news: I am extremely bad manner. I keep asking for a chat ban but PokerStars won't do it. :[ I also went to the gym today and did a work out I used to do, just for shits and giggles. I nearly through up. GG.

Here's a couple hands I would like to share with you all, and before you ask, no it is not the same hand. These hands happened 5 hands apart from each other and to the same exact person.

Dollhouse + Mouse by k2o4, February 16

So I saw the first episode of dollhouse was up on hulu, and being a firefly fan I figured I'd give joss my viewership. Sadly it was pretty crappy. I dun think I'll be watching it anymore. Anyone else seen it?

On another sad note, my favorite mouse of 5 years has started dying. It keeps randomly spazzing out and disconnecting. But my GF got me a new mouse as an early birthday present today so things are good. It's weird getting used to a new mouse - feel weird and awkward and slow and all that shit. But it's actually pretty nice. I like simple mice and I got one that was as close to my old one as possible. The scroll is annoying cause my old mouse would click and when I moved the wheel and that was great for knowing how many BB's I was adjusting the bet by, but this one is set up to be super smooth so I've gotta get used to how much I need to move it.

god I'm totally babbling.

Also had a funny day poker wise. Took a walk to get my head straight and came back to play about 1.3k hands that started poorly but broke even in the end, recovering from being down about 3.5 buyins. Then tonight while testing the new mouse I ran super hot for about 200 hands and won 2.5 buyins to put me in the green + 2 bi for the day. Creeping up on 6k. Hopefully this weekend will be the beginning of the big NL200 shot!

Gotta go eat now, done babbling.

A day off by Uptown, February 16

I intended to start NL100 today, but having taken a 4 hour exam and reviewed my errors, needing to do an assignment in the next hour, and having a 2 hour class thing right after that, I've concluded that this really isn't the time to be challenging my game.

I dont think I've taken a single day off in February, my sleep schedule is all out of whack, I think I'm going to take the day off and try to get my sleep back in order and try to wake up in the AM for once and start the day early tomorrow, esp since I actually like playing in the mornings.

At the most, I'll play a 1-2 hr session at NL50 tonight, but I highly doubt my mind will be sharp enough to handle even that.

Hopefully it wont wreck my game having a day off.

Win the monies for me instead LP'ers~

$10 paypal for pokerstars by Wizard, February 16

This might be considered borderline spamming, but recently I posted this: http://www.liquidpoker.net/blog/viewblog.php?id=674817

In it I asked that I send $10 through paypal for someone to send me 10 to ps. As subaru pointed out, nowadays I think paypal has a chargeback policy so that if I sent it I could then report the person and his account would be frozen, etc. for 'gambling money'.

But as you can see from other blog posts I've made, I've done this similar transaction about 5 times total with the members roflcopter and wakeboarrder. And though nobody really knows me, these guys have quite high post counts and could vouch for me that this is legit. Also, if anyone wants to I can send a copy of pm's / paypal screenshot of past transactions.

The reason I'm doing it through paypal is because I'm underage and I see no other alternative (if there is please tell me).

Please help?

p.s. and if you're wondering why i've done it so many times, let's just say i suck at poker

college vs poker by Night2o1, February 16

I've been quite the slacker in school since highschool rolled around. I am at a community college (going to the state university next semester) because of it, and here I've taken my sweet time (3years to get a 2yr degree :D).

The hard sciences have always been interested to me but never so interesting or have they come so naturally to me that I want to devote my life to them. I sit through my math classes, well except stats which was interesting/seemed useful, and when tests roll around I try to remember what I learned and cram it real quick. The result is obviously mediocre since I've really put no overall effort into them.

Liberal arts: History, psychology, philosophy, each of these are much more interesting to me. But still not interesting enough-- not to mention the job opportunities are rather bleak. I naturally take to knowledge in these classes. Too bad there's no real high-income way of using liberal arts degrees.

My enduring interest has always been in a general sense, "business". But not working for someone else's business. No way. I want to build, run, and work(for little while ) at something I OWN. I want to invest in businesses. Make decisions on where to allocate funds, where I can grow my money most effectively, and have freedom outside of that.

Maybe its just the economy affecting me in the short term, but on top of never, ever wanting to have a normal job since I ever became aware of the concept of "job".. Now I REALLY never want to have to worry about such a thing. Both of my closest friends have been laid off recently. My mom can't find work. And here I am spending half my week, every week on school, preparing to join them in their job-insecurity and inability to do much about it.

Its awful.

Considering what my friends were earning (one with a college degree, one without, both intelligent and hard working).. I already have (or am very near) the ability to make more than them this year even if I am stuck at nl100 for the entire year! And this isn't even atypical! Observe:

"…[a]verage earnings ranged from $18,900 for high school dropouts to $25,900 for high school graduates, $45,400 for college graduates and $99,300 for workers with professional degrees (M.D., D.O., J.D., Pharm.D., D.D.S., or D.V.M.). (US census bureau 2002)
With a 6 year degree, a Master's, the median income is just $62,300! A Professional degree takes atleast 8 years.

I understand and appreciate the self-enrichment of a college education.. Absolutely. I enjoy it. But I don't count advanced maths among them. These things don't enrich me for any of MY own purposes or interests. Humanities, language, etc. I can appreciate. Spending 1/2 the year learning about subjects I can't find a use or interest in.. Where's my benefit?

I know that having a degree opens your options, giving you more job potential in times of crises. Not that this is helping my friend and his bachelor's degree.

But damn it, I feel like I have an opportunity here in poker. A chance to spend a couple of years-- maybe longer, maybe not-- making good money on my own terms. Maybe a chance to make very significant amounts of money to build a healthy investment roll, so that I only rely on my own assets as backup in crises. Maybe a chance to set myself for life?

At the very least, to make more than enough money to set some aside for 4-6 years of college down the road?

Its a volatile and chance-y road to take, poker is, but people have gambled damn near since the creation of currency.

I can't find any reason to take more than 1 class a semester, until I'm done with poker or no longer wish it to be my job.

Lastly, I feel like now is my best chance at such a freedom. I can live almost entirely for free, though in reality I spend about $500 a month to stay comfortable and to reduce my mom's burden. I have no real responsibilities or expenses outside of car insurance and maintanence(wow I can't spell this word), and food costs. When will I have a better chance to chase a dream? Let alone one I think is very realistic and attainable.

Please let me know your thoughts, as this isn't something I've totally decided yet, and I think my results during this coming summer will make a big difference in my final decision. Until then I'm just going to try to force myself to finish up this semester with decent grades.

Come on! by OpWestAcct, February 16

I once again have ended a session disappointed in my play. Even though many of my bluffs work - even in big pots - I can't say how many times I have blown $40-$50 trying to make a move on someone. Also through in $100 with AQs even when I knew I was way behind. I probably could have saved about $250 this Nl 50 session. However, I still ended 6 buy ins up =)

Bankroll is at $1500 and also I decided that if I reach $2500 I am quitting my part time job waiting at Red Lobster. So I am pretty excited about it because even though that job brings in $500-$600 a week off thirty hours .... it drains your soul.

Choosing A Site by Gadget, February 16

In my last run i played exclusively on pokerstars. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the low limits of both pokerstars and full tilt and can give me their opinion. I like both sites software enough for that not to sway my opinion. Does anyone notice a difference in competition from pokerstars to full tilt? Thanks.

Dilemma by MayZerG, February 16

I'm sure most of you are aware of the economic downturn revolving around the stock market and our financial system.

All of our banks have crashed and need bailouts constantly, to the point where the UK have dropped the interest rate down to 2% i believe. Luckily im getting 3.10%.

Now onto my problem, Considering i was getting 5.50% before, i was building up my savings slowly since the end of last year and have £2,650 in there. Thats only going to get me £78 if i dont add anything else.

I'm actually deciding on withdrawing and either putting a certain amount into the stock market and learn how to long/short stocks, or put it into poker to cushion my BR and maybe move up in another month or so. As im back onto grinding 50nl and improving daily.

Any suggestions/opinions on what i should do?
