Great success, after 35/65 split I get $1110, and 50/50 stakes for now on instead of 35/65
today was a great day, back over 3k finally! (been gone a few days u know )
+450 in the sunday turbo takedown
+1400 in the warm up
+1691 in the million
i made a few mistakes late game in the mil, went over them with a tournament professional and have learned some lessons
So look forward to me splitting 4-5days a week at nl50 and 1-2 days a week playing MTT's
If I do score big in MTT's, I'm going to continue to play each limit up until I'm +20bi on each limit. I want to learn to beat every single limit on stars consistently (at least until 1/2)
I appreciated everyones support today, very ul in the warmup at the end, most lag crazy player at the table wakes up with AA when hes been opening 3/9 hands per orbit vs my JJ otb... oh well, thats how tournies go sometimes
Just smoked a nice J, gonna go watch some tv for a few and pass out
Tomorrow I might play some MTT's, but I'm craving some NL50 6max too. Maybe start the day off at NL50 6max and play some MTT's in the afternoon
No commentary, sorry. I would be please if someone would check it out and comment on it though. I'm a losing player at 50nl so this vid is only for getting advice, not teaching how to play.
*poker is my livelihood, i must treat it as such
*money will always come in, not on a monthly basis, but im good enough that it will somehow
*i dont have to EARN monthly, it only causes me to go on "winning tilt" like k204 once explained and deter any kind of progress im in
*fpps are just the "extras" must stop watching how much they're worth lol
*people nowadays are good enough to cause me a lot of variance, so everytime i do experience one, should not take it too harshly
*play tourneys weekly, i mean really invest in those, takes me out of the weeklong grind, and can make good if i score in one
br wise im up this month, but psychologically, lately, ive hit this "stump" i have a hard time getting out of, and it kinda makes me lose interest in grinding and playing poker, i think im going on a vacation soon and try to feel better about what i do for a living, and detoxify any anxiety i have right now, coz i feel itll only hurt my poker
i dont deserve anything at poker
even the little shit that ive won already - i was never worth anything
i fucking suck
i wish someone slapped me with his big hands until my face turned purple
i am the worst donk above nl2 and i only realized it TODAY
someone spit on me
basically i surrendered all thoughts of making real money and am just focusing on hitting my VPP mark for this month.....cuz PLO 100 is CRAZzzzzy. so with a non optimal bank roll ive been buying in with varying amounts to maximize # of hands. ive been super loose and calling down way more than usual cuz too many people overvalue there hands.
PLO100 is damn tricky ......everyone is everywhere with all kinds of ranges. wish my comp didnt crash cuz i had about 20-30 more hands that were really good from the end of my session last nite.
10k Commerce Event... brb hanging myself...by JonnyCosMo, February 22
So I just busted out of the 10k at Commerce in the most absurd way. Before I go into detail with my bust out, I'll describe how my tourney went. Day 1 was kind of rough for me, as I got stuck at a real tough starting table with SCTrojans, Bushman, Neal Wang, and two other kids who play online 25/50 NLHE. I hovered around 20k (which was starting stack) until our table broke, and I got moved to a much softer table where there was the most absurd young kid lagtard ever to my left. At first I was just thinking that this monkey was on the most insane tilt ever, opening every other hand at the 100/200 level to a size between 425 and 500. In one hand, he opened to 475 with J4o from UTG and got in another 7k vs a short stack after flop came 3-4-8 all hearts (as he held the Jh). I proceed to play the following hand vs him: I raise to 600 with AK, he flats behind me, and one of the blinds flats. Flop comes 2-3-3 rainbow. Blind checks, I bet 1350, the lagtard behind me called and the blind folded. Turn was K, so I check and the kid thinks for a little bit then checks back. River was a 5, and I value bet 2,000 and he INSTANTLY tosses in 6k total. This was pretty puke since it really didn't feel like he was bluffing, and I was pretty positive he didn't have a hand like 3X or 22 since he check turn and slowplaying was not something he was doing with his current image at the table. So he had to have exactly 55 right? Which made me kind of sick to think that he rivered a 2 outer on me. Finally I just came to the conclusion that this is a bluff a higher % of the time than most people's raise in this spot (even thou I thought that % was real low) and thought he could also be going for VERY thin value with some hand that float flop and hit K on turn, so I called and he showed 64. /wrists
So that put me down to 7k, I squeezed AJs and got it in vs 88 to double to 15k, won a pot to get up to 16k, then hit a set when the lagtard hit top pair which ZOOOOMED me up to 32k. From there the rest of the day went pretty smooth. I ended up trying to fight back with the lagtard, but he toasted me with a 5 bet bluff (yea he was that sick) and bashed me back into my nit cave for the rest of the day, which was fine since the rest of the table sucked so whatever. With 5 mins left in the day I had 50k, and jmc (10/20 reg on stars) raises in CO, I flat button with KQ, and blind called. Flop came K-9-4 rainbow, and went check check to me so I bet smallish little under half pot, the blind folded and jmc check-raised all-in for like 2x pot so I called and he had 96o. Turn 9. Fuck my life T_T, so I end the day with 40,675.
My Day 2 table was super soft with the exception of Hafizzle and Neal Wang. Lucky for me, hafizzle never got things going and ended up busting pretty early. Neal Wang, however, got a hold of some chips and became a little bit of a pest to my left. To my right, there were two massive fish who clearly have no clue what they are doing. At the 200/400 level, it got folded to one of the fish who raised on the button to 1200, I reraised to 3400 w/ QsQc and he called. Flop came T-5-4 all hearts and I bet 5400, and he shoved for ~45k effective. Wat? I ask him if he knew how deep we were and he nodded, saying that he clearly ment to shove like x4 pot. I fold and he showed me Kh and said he had a pair with it. Later he claimed KK. That's fine. Lost a flip, missed a draw, got down to 30k, then won a flip, and raised some more pots and got myself up to 45k by the 300/600 level. I noticed my table had gotten pretty tight, as the blinds were raising so I decided to open up and start bringing some noise. Got my stack up to 60k without a showdown, easily being the most active at the table. Then this happens--->
That same fish who over-jammed pot on that earlier hand, opens in early position to 1600 from his 54,000 stack. I look at 88 and flat call in middle position. The small blind ends up calling too. Flop comes: Qc-8s-5c. BOOOYYAAAA!!! Small blind checks, the fish who raised checks, so I make my usual small gay 2900 bet. SB thinks for a bit, and counts out a raise, but then the nit inside of him made him fold. Action back around to the fish raiser who starts shuffling and moving around his chips, I see him say something so I take my headphones off to ask what he said. "I'm All-in" was the first words I heard, so I looked at the dealer and asked "What did he say?" The dealer announces the All-in and puts the All-in button in front of him. So fireworks are going off in my head, and I can hear people cheering my name as they shoot of streamers and sing songs of glory for my success. I stand up and give it the big wind-up fist pump like "YEEAAAAHH I CALL!!!!"
The fish calmly looks at me.......... then rolls over QQ.
I've been doing good about sticking to my bankroll and I've played more hands this month, than any before. 24k hands this month. I haven't gotten busto where I would have normally. I'm having trouble with NL5. Horrendous Trouble. I am 11 buy ins below expectation on my EV graph. But that would still put me at roughly -20 buy ins at NL5 over 7k hands. I'm running 17/14/2.5 fullring NL5.
I'm still beating NL2 at 10bb/100 over 18k hand sample (EV graph puts me at roughly 5bi over EV in NL2) running 20.5/14.5/2.5. 3betting 6.6% across all 24k hands. My WTSD is 27% @ NL5 and 29% @ NL2. Winning @ Showdown is 37.5% NL5 and 50.2% NL2.
I think I've largely been going in to NL5 with the wrong mindset. I think this is because NL2 is easy and people will stack off with middle pair frequently. I need to go into NL5 with the NL25 mindset I used to have when I was a bankroll degen. I've come a long way in the last 6 months and I'm getting more confident the more I experience retarded swings because I'm finally using proper bankroll management. For the last 6 months i've just been degenning it up playing everything from NL2 to NL100 and eventually losing 3/4 of my roll in a single buy in and starting over or going broke. I've stopped doing that... I've learned my lesson.
I had been 6-8 tabling NL2 and 4-6 tabling NL5 when I was taking shots. Last night I ran really hot 12 tabling for the first time and it was more enjoyable. I loaded up to 16 tables and it was a bit too much for me. I think I'll prolly start playing 10 tables of NL2 until I'm ready for my next shot of NL5 which I'll 4-6 table again.
I found a reg who is just a huge donator in steal spots, and 3/4bet pots in general. Its pretty sick. Also exploited this reg who was tilting was awesome.. Infact, almost 100% of my profits came from regs today. Pretty awesome..
I stopped playing today because I'm starting to feel mental fatigue... I might go for another session but we'll see.
Anyway, I'm super sick pumped. Obviously I'm running good, but I also think I am playing good

I havn't got it. Not a good enough one to not let it affect my mood and hence those around me.
I understand that's it's statistically impossible to never go on a bad run, but I let it get to me so much when I do - both during individual sessions, and then taking it out on friends and family. I act like an arsehole and am just generally moody for a few hours after a bad session.
I've set myself a 30buy-in limit so the downswings don't feel as bad, but it doesn't seem to be helping. This morning I had over 50 buy-ins at NL25 and for the past week, if I saw any big fish at NL50 tables I was happy to sit there. So I just had a typical run shit session, and instead of stopping when I got to -3bi as I always try to, I just opened up more tables. Ended up 12 tabling and gave up after this:
Showdown Hero: shows (three of a kind, Tens)
borys111111: shows (a flush, Ten high)
borys111111 collected $47.65 from pot
Summary Total pot $50.10 | Rake $2.45

Seat 5: BlaBlaBoem folded before Flop (didnt bet)
Seat 6: borys111111 showed and won ($47.65) with a flush, Ten high
At which point I was 10 buyins down.
I've tilt-withdrawn a few times now and started again from NL2 knowing that my mood doesn't get affected when I play micro because realistically the most I can lose is tens of dollars, but when it gets to HUNDREDS - that's a lot of money to me!
I'm currently half way through grinding that reload bonus on stars (done 1/2 of it in a week) but I really don't feel like carrying on. I was over 27 buy-ins (~$700) up for the month which would have been one of my best non-MTT months since I started last april.
I really admire my friend rANDY who carries on playing, unaffected by results. He's had some really shitty down-swings but he's still going.
So although this is just a bit of a vent, has anyone got any advice?
I obviously don't want to withdraw and void the bonus, but I've got little motivation to play.I'm thinking maybe I'll go back to NL10 until I release the bonus and then maybe take a break until I'm gagging to play again!
Hey, here are a few hands from a 2 hour session I played today. I'm still betting pot size when I am ahead and re raising 3x the raiser when I think I am ahead. Should I be betting pot size when I have the nuts? They seem to call more often than not at large bets in .01/.02 so I guess it's okay. I have to do some school work today but will post again later with another 2 hour session. Here's a few hands I'd like your input on.

I'd like to take some time to get something off my chest that is really bothering me. I am from the great state of New Hampshire. In New Hampshire we have a tradition of small government and general "live free or die" (state motto for you foreigners) mentality. I am quite depressed today because NH has finally given into federal US bribes and will soon be making it a law for all people to wear a seat belt. Not only will it be made a law, but it will be made a "primary law" which means it is a law by which a police officer can detain you temporarily. (For example, in massachusetts the seatbelt law is 'secondary', meaning that a police officer in Massachusetts can not stop you in your vehicle if the only thing he observes you doing 'wrong' is not wearing a seat belt. He can only cite you for not wearing your seat belt if he has pulled you over for something else).
Now you may be thinking, Nolan, what the hell is wrong with you, wearing seat belts saves lives, why wouldn't you want to wear it?
Well, you would be correct. I always have and always will wear my seat belt. However, I personally don't believe it is the government's job to be concerned for my own personal safety when engaging in behaviours which can not harm others. Allow me to elaborate. Smoking cigarettes in your own home is legal. This action is not very safe, but if you are smoking cigarettes in your own home then it is unlikely anyone else will be harmed by this action, thus, in accordance with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, it is not a crime. Smoking cigarettes in a crowded restaurant, sports venue, or airplane, is no longer legal. The justification for these bans is that smoking among other people exposes them to second hand smoke and thus infringes on their rights and health.
Now let's apply that to seat belts. If I am cruising around New Hampshire alone and am not wearing a seat belt, I have not infringed on anyone elses civil liberties nor have I put anyone but myself in danger. So, at what point do we allow the government to "parent" us an control our level of safety? Don't humans have the right to put themselves in danger or act in a manner they see fit so long as no one else has their freedom or health compromised? Seat belts seem like a little thing, but laws like this can create a snowball effect. I would guess that obesity causes more death in the US than people neglecting to wear seat belts, although I could be wrong. Even still, if you think it's reasonable for the government to force you to wear a seat belt, by definition, you must also think it is reasonable for the government to ration food so that people will not become obese, right?
As government gets bigger and bigger, liberty and freedom gets smaller and smaller. I think resisting small seemingly harmless things such as seat belt laws is necessary in order to avoid the snowball effect which could have serious detrimental consequences.
What do you think?
Look forward to next episode: Marijuana, the "drug" which causes zero deaths per year, infringes on no one's rights/health when consumed in a safe manner, yet still requires a few billion taxpayer dollars and about 100,000 imprisoned non-violent criminals in order to regulate, lest our society get out of control with raging relaxation and junk food consumption.
Todays going to be a 1 day huge tournament day for me ;
Schedule at bottom
I was on vacation the last 4 days and didn't have enough FPP for the sunday turbo takedown, but no worries, I won my first fpp tourney for a seat (2000 FPP 10 man, just like the sunday mil ones)
I'll be playing $5 tournies to $216 tournies, one unlimited rebuy tourney (11r with $51 stop loss), but I will play tournaments with 1rebuy 1add-on, since they will be easy to track on OPR
hopefully todays my tourn and I can take one of these down :-)
wish me luck LP
I'm playing on a 1k sunday stake (my bankroll is $2137 for cash) at 35/65%, and will be playing in two of the sunday $216's, or 1 sunday 216 and 1 50 1r1a, i'll know soon when I go through the lobby and choose my MTT's for today
My tournament schedule today

Assuming i need to double rebuy and lose the $11r, $1042.70 assuming I double rebuy and still bust before the first hour, and $1032.70 assuming I double rebuy and bust during the first hour
*I will only allow 1 double rebuy in the 11r/5r to make this tournament no more expensive than $10+20+10 / 5+10+5 = for a chance at the 70k and 50k prize pools)
There will be 0 cashgame hands played until late tonight (after midnight, or tomorrow morning) - if you see me play cashgames on this tourney day I will instaship you $25
To my understanding, whatever I win over the $1k investment I keep 35% of, and if I lose $1-1k then i will be reimbursed my loses up to $1,000 from todays starting bankroll of $2,137) and payback the difference in makeup whenever my bankroll is $26,000
I invested around $1060, $60 over which I don't mind to take a small hit on if I don't have a winning day, since this allows me to play all the MTT's I want to maximize my profitability
Well, 2 just started, wish me luck, if I make it deep in any tournies I'll be sure to keep LP posted
