Second session...my biggest improvement!by MasterofLaw, March 23
So I played another session for about 2hrs again. This time I will start out with some unpolite whining again. It was fucking sick out there on the battlefield. The river cards from hell fell from the sky like mana in some story from the bible, it was just pure painful to be me. I first made 2bi, then lost more than I thought was possible (without tilting I promise!) 6bi! Then things turned out to be more normal again, people weren't longer dealt mana from the skies and I managed to get a few hands to stand up for themselves and prove to be worthy winners like flopped straights and top 2pair, which previously in the session had been fucked by quads and second nut trips. Before I probably would have put at least 50% of my roll at stake as a response to the coolers, in the purpose of a quick climb back to the figure I hade before on the account. But not this time, things turned more normal as I said, and I climbed back the patient way and once again turned the session into a winning one, even if it just was 1,88$, lols!
I really feel strong right now, sessions like the last one hopefully don't come to often and if I still manage to breakeven at the same time as hell unleashes all its fury against me, then I believe I will run like Jesus on crack when I hit the heater. NL25 players...be scared, really really scared ;-)
Now I probably should go to bed and watch some poker before I go to sleep and work tomorrow!
Today I got home from work pretty early so after a quick dinner I could'nt wait any longer to get in some hands on Party. I logged in and instantly I got my 5th AA in two days, and for the 3rd time in a row they did get cracked all in pf, this time it was KK.
But I have decided not to tilt, but after some other beats that I have submitted on the hand-page I felt that the tilt was not far away, but more far than ever. I sighed deeply for my self and continued to play...finding myself at +125$ after about a 2hr session. And this was without doing any particular suckout or something like that, the best hand only managed to stay the best after showdown which made me and my new bankroll very happy.
As I said yesterday, there seems to be no problem totally crushing NL25. People are often like open books pf and u can almost always tell when they hold QQ-AA+AK, because it's the only time they'll 3bet you. But after the flop the players get more unpredicable, but in a good way. The often seems to find very very bad spots to bluff away all their bi on. Saw some very funny plays today that I've not seen in a long while. Once in the pot people often get stuck there.
Now I'll take a short break but probably I will play another session today. Still having a cold.
Man, I really need to stop losing after I have a big win. was at 90k at my high point this month, now im at around 60k. gross. Also, I did some investigating and it turns out I got all in with AA yesterday a bunch and didnt win any of them. Here's the recap:
-First hand of the warmup AA vs KK all in on 9 high flop, river K.
-in some $150 on FTP AA vs AK all in pre, flopped straight
-in the ftp 6max 100cubed AA < KJ all in pre
-in the sunday second chance AA < ATo for 100bb pot
-also with 30 left in some tourney i lost QQ to JJ for the chiplead =/
There might be more but that's all i can think of, sorry for the whine post but i felt like i was playing well all day and was just waiting for the results to be positive. I didn't really even get frustrated until my last couple tournaments of the day. I guess the results will come. I mean I know I've been running pretty well so far this year anyways, but that doesn't mean i deserve to go on a big getting owned streak. Oh well...Come on some sort of tournament win! it's been at least a week since i won one FFS! -__-

ps: still haven't heard back from the house yet, should hear back tonight.
Ok, this is mainly for our sweet swedish members, but I was browsing around on the website of one of swedens biggest newspapers and I come across William Thorsons blog. For those of you who dont know him hes a swedish donkament player and a pokerstars pro. I always though he was pretty solid for no real reason but GOD. He has commented on the hand from high stakes poker where durrr does some epic soulowning and makes eastgate and barry fold the best hands.
This is the most retarded thing I have ever read. This is all in swedish but ill try to translate some of the gems from this "analysis"
"In general people play tighter live than online. Durr might play K2s in this spot online but he would never do it live"
"On the flop durrr isnt thinking at all and just tries to make everyone fold, once eastgate and barry calls he realizes that they have strong hands, but he doesnt realize how strong they are"
"the turn comes and durrr throws out a desperate bet of 105k and just hopes that they will both fold"
"I dont think there is more though behind the bet than that barry and eastgate are the weakest players on the table and he hopes they will fold something decent"
"Once he bet he realizes that it was terribe bet and that eastgate has a 2"
"durrr would never bet 105k on the turn with A2 or TT, he would bet smaller because he isnt scared of anything"
I could go on forever but I dont really feel like spreading this insult to durr more than I already have. Its fucking laughable that this guy even dares to comment a hand played by a player that is way way way way way better than this donkament fish will ever be. I really feel the urge to argue with this guy but its probably no use seeing as he is still on the 1st level.
So from monday the 16th till today, monday the 23rd I played without checking my BR. Today I checked it and the result over that time period is that.... I BROKE EVEN!!! lolz
I ran pretty bad in quite a few spots but I also started spewing a bit on saturday and sunday. So if I'd eliminated my spewy moments I'd probably be up like 5 buyins for the week.
Still up for the month though and the BR is still very healthy. I was actually expecting to be very down on money but that wasn't the case at all. I was worried I'd have lost like 10 buyins so I'm really happy to be at even.
I did have an upswing in the middle of the week and I played 3k hands that day, by far the most I played the entire week which was my goal: play a lot while winnning and a little while losing. My upswing brought me a 2k winning day but then I kept having lots of 300-500 losing days so it all evened out in the end.
I think this has been helpful. I played nearly 10k hands this week which was a great improvement. I was much less tilty in day to day stuff and was able to get over a bad session much quicker and go on and have fun in the rest of my life. I also did a much better job of quitting while losing and playing more while winning. Overall I'd say this little experiment has been a success.
My focus right now is on getting myself back to a peak mental state. I think a poker break is in order so that I can get back to playing with an eagerness to play perfectly, not just an eagerness to play lots.

-7 BI.
BR is too small to handle these swings, at least too small to not let me get affected with that, that is my main problem I guess. Hope to get a bigger BR but I just get nowhere atm. Seriously I hope this shit will stop soon.
W-e, stopping for today, probably wont make platinumstar because I can't grind when I have this insane hate in my heart for all these faggot son of a bitches who suck out on me.
Lost KK vs TT, cuz he had enough of the squezing luckboxing fag he was
SAme dude hit 2outer 99 on kJ88 board
Lost AA vs JJ , QQ vs AK, AA vs setHIT duhhh FUCKING INCREDIBLE lost it all in 600hands i was up 290$ fucking hell
This is so Lame and discouraging, i want them to feel the suckouts too!!!!
Yesterday after I played first couple k hands NL10 FR I was down 3BI (2x KK v AA All in, once Top set against straight *sigh*). So I was like wtf variance hates me there and went to try 6max to ipoker with my uncleared $20 on CDPoker. I had whopping 150 hands of experience behind me and I went grinding 4 tables.
This time I was not trying BS, and I just imagined I play FR. And its so cool. I love playing LP and I was almost always LP Now!
Jebus, so many hands that I played.
I ran 24/20/3.5 and was almost never bored. I made like 3-4 terrible spews. + Show Spoiler +

when govt is basically guaranteeing safe and good (prolly 10%+/yr) returns on toxic asset bonds. i'm going to start looking for these funds to park long term assets in right now.
this is just news this morning. american tax payers are getting raped as usual
I'm still heavily short S&P, Retailers, Banks, and REIT. looking to diversify on govt backed toxic asset funds backed by tax payer $

Well I've realized today that my biggest leak has returned. The one thing that I changed in my game which made a huge difference was my ability to turn on the brakes when a situation turned shitty. I learned how to listen to that little voice in my head which would say "shit, you're probably beat here". I had a problem with overplaying hands, especially when I wasn't sure what to do. I had top pair top kicker vs a check-raise on the turn in a spot where it wasn't a clear fold and since I wasn't sure what to do, I'd just jam which was usually the worst choice available.
That leak has returned. I didn't realize it till today cause I thought I was just hitting tough spots and running bad when I had to get it in. But today I pushed Kh9h vs a min-check raise from a fish on a KQJ 2 heart board. On face value top pair + a gutshot + a flush draw is pretty awesome. But to jam over a min-check raise from a guy who's either bluffing or got it is such horrible spew. That pretty hand suddenly became a shitty hand and my reaction to that change was to overplay it and push all bluffs out and get called by all the better hands in a spot where lots of my outs weren't clean anymore. Horrible.
I think I'm on a slight tilt. Like I don't feel horrible but I don't have the patience to apply the breaks so I keep throwing away money where I used to save it. I need to stop playing till I get that even level headed play back. So I'm going to focus this week on my other job which I've neglected a bit due to the downswing. I've played poker every day for a long while now and a break really is in order. So I'm going to take time off till at least friday. That way I can spend Mon-Thurs really getting work done on a project for my job, and then if I feel that desire to play good level headed poker on Friday I can get back into the swing of things. Having a productive week doing non-poker stuff will do a lot to get me back to normal.
Still haven't checked the BR and definitely not checking it tonight. I want to go to bed happy and if I check and see a bigger lose than expected I will have a shitty night =) But I will probably check it sometime this week before Friday so I can see where I'm at.
Alright, break starts now. No poker till Friday. Gonna be nice.
is soooo bad. i posted a problem on the forums and it took 1 day to get a reply. i then emailed the guy like he said and pm'd him as well and 3 days later no reply. so sick.
Since I posted my goal and first update towards it, a couple of people have asked me on here and IMs about my game so I'm gonna post results for at least three days in a row and no longer than a week, starting with today. I don't have any plans on what the next 2+ days are going to be, but hopefully they are wins.
I massed tourneys yesterday and in all lost about $200. Today was the shortest day in awhile because I spent a lot of it on here and then shortly after getting started I got a call to go out to dinner. It was only 1 session with no more than 4 tables of NL50. I made just enough to satisfy my bare minimum in getting close enough to my goal
